"Of course the Society understands your troubles here, Nashota. Your battle prowess is so famous around the halls that all of us have heard your legends. That's why you are so valuable to our higher ups, they have sent us, for a reason, I suppose. Tell us what we can do to make it more palatable for you to be ready in three days. The Society wants you...I suppose that means we are here to make it so you can pay your debt to the Society."

“Very well, then.” the centaur says, smiling, “you could always march up the mountain in my place. You Pathfinders dealt with our enemies to the south—might as well handle the north, east, and west while you’re at it, since we’re such good friends?” Nashota grins, and gestures up the mountain. “To the north, there’s that freak harpy Jerevyx. She roosts somewhere up by Hollowfrost Pass. Just follow the path up Mount Ganog to find her. In the east, look for Dahruun Firehorn. I hear he and his minotaurs are holed up in the old Northwind Mine. To the west, the thief Urso Landel makes camp somewhere in the forest. I don’t care what you do with him so long as you get back the arms and armor he stole from us. Deal with them in three days,” she snorts derisively, “and I’ll consider your request. Until then, the matter is closed.”
She raises an eyebrow. “Do you any questions for me before you heroes solve all my problems?”

Grigorii flashes his tusks in a grin, "Yes, Vendel. In anger is strength. Her value to the society is as a warrior. If she is not a capable fighter, then she is not worth our time or trouble. The Centaur tosses her head and snorts. “So you want to see what your society is paying for, do you, pretty boy?” Nashota gives an ironic bow. “Who am I to doubt what the Pathfinder Society wishes of me, or what they desire me to prove, over and over? You’ll have your little demonstration. Would ten of my centaurs attacking me be enough?”
Without waiting for your reply, she orders some of her warriors down to the snowy valley below the Cangarit campsite. She takes position, her hooves already cantering as she assesses the threats before her. Chewing up the snowy landscape, she moves towards the threats, fearless, timing impeccable. Her weapon hooks and trips her fellow centaurs -- a difficult feat for four-footed foes are more challenging to trip. Nashota weaves amongst them, using their numbers against them, sending her challengers crashing into each other. It’s a pretty sight, one that makes you consider that maybe the Decemvirate just wanted her exotic presence there as a political statement.
But she keeps going, her fellow centaurs trying harder and harder to bring her down. She’s breathing deep but not hard, her flanks covered in snow and sweat, as she keeps fending them off, using her reach weapon and speed to use their own advances against them. Her guisarme is dancing, flurrying, and somehow she is still controlling the field, choosing her position, leaping across the terrain to get higher ground.
And that’s when you realize the most interesting fact of all. She’s doing this all without a single spell or scrap of magic. Her weapon is only masterwork. Her jewelry is just handmade baubles. What would she do with the sort of buffs and items the society could provide her? Heck, what could she do with the sort of buffs and spells that a skald like you could provide?
Then the field clears. All the others are exhausted, tripped or down. They start heavily helping each other up, and she ignores them to charge straight at Grigorii. Nashota throws her guisarme and it lands between the Skald’s feet with a solid THWACK. “Was THAT enough of a demonstration for you?”
Then she abruptly canters away, and reaches out an arm to start helping her fellow warriors get up.

Then redirecting his attention to the centaur, "Do you have a map of da region so's we can best plan ta quickly dispatch yer enemies, know what I mean?"

“Yes, I know what you mean, ifrit.” Nashota shakes the snow off, and then clatters up the hill to her tent. She pulls out a map of the Kortos mounts, marking out the Cangarit camp, and then the other locations, all roughly equidistant to the north, east and west of your present location. “By the way... Do you have names? I could call you all, ‘Hey you’, and ‘Pathfinders’, but that will get tiresome after a while.”
“You asked about my missing warriors.” She turns to Pai. “There are four of them that were kidnapped by Dahruun Firehorn. He's a gray old minotaur, and I've seen him using some strange magic. He's new to the area like we are, and word is he's starting up a cult to one of those demon lords they worship—Baphomet, I think. A few weeks ago his minotaurs smashed their way into the camp and stole several of my people. I don't hold much hope for you finding them alive, but if you'd look for them in the mine, I'd be grateful.”

Nashota looks at the map, considering. “So, I am hearing that you want to take on the Minotaurs first?” She points to two different paths. “The entrance to the Northwind Mine is located on the far side of Mount Ganog from the centaur village. You can reach the mine by traveling east around the base of the mountain, or by crossing Hollowfrost Pass and descending the mountain's backside.” She points to the path that goes around the far side of Mount Ganog. “This is a 48 mile journey through forest trails. From what I know of two-leggers, you’re adaptable in all kinds of terrain, but considerably slower than my people on foot. Starting from the Cangarit village, most two-leggers would average about 16 hours of walking to reach the entrance of the mine, or 8 hours if you hustle.”
“Of course you might surprise me. I’ve heard that there are two-leggers that travel faster than that.” She looks at all of you, dubiously, staring at Pai’s short little legs and Masafusa’s tiny frame. “From Hollowfrost Pass the trip is much shorter, but more dangerous too. It’s a nine-mile journey through mountainous trails, which would likely take you four hours to walk, or two hours if you really hustle. The Hollowfrost Pass is a 120-foot-deep gorge running north between the twin peaks of Mount Ganog.” She points to the gorge on the map. “A strong wind blows through the pass at all times. It’ll blow freezing air right through your clothes, mess with your archers, and wreak havoc with visibility. There are icy cliff faces running along either side of the pass. Much of the ground here is covered in thick drifts of snow -- tough for even my people to move in. There are some interesting stone tower ruins at the center of the pass, which might provide some shelter if you can get inside.”
Which way do you want to go? Around the mountain or through the pass?

Magnus contemplates the mission at hand, as well as the missive from Lady Ollysta Zadrian. "Milady, I am Sir Magnus Landros, Knight of the Silver Crusade, Warrior Priest of the Master of the First Vault, at your service." He takes a courtly bow, hoping to impress the centaur woman. "Lord Abadar has granted me both physical prowess, and the ability to heal. While I am on a mission, no one need die, and no death need be permanent. If your brethren are hurt, I will do everything in my powers to make them whole again."

"Though Mount Ganog, you say? That being the most direct route? And some ruins up there? I would be most interested in taking that path. What do you know of those ruins, Nashota?"
He turns to his party, and says, "I would prefer the route of mountain pass, if you all wouldn't mind. I realize that it might actually be the more difficult of the routes, but there is something up there that I am under orders to look at, and report back about, I believe. In fact, it might give me some insight into the Grace of Aroden that my sister, Lady Natalia, has received, and perhaps why I have never been worthy to be a chosen of the Scion of Humanity."
Magnus Landros
|
"Oh, I almost forgot to ask. What more do you know about this Dahruun Firehorn? I assume that he's evil, given the worship of the demon princes, but what else?"
| GM Hmm |
Nashota blinks, surprised. "I must say, you Pathfinders are a well-spoken lot. Are you all so silver-tongued?" Then she glances at Vendel, smiling slightly and answering her own question. "Well... perhaps not."
She paces back and forth, thinking. "Will you need a place to camp, in between your missions? If so... We may be cramped in Cangarit Camp, but I can spare you a warm tent for you all to rest in tonight, if you like." She shows you the tent. It's made of furs and smells a bit like a damp moose, but is dry and warm. It would fit all of you... snugly. "With two of you being so very small, you'll all be able to fit."
"Good luck on the pass, if you are determined to go there. It is slippery and dangerous for those not acclimated to our snowy clime. It is interesting that you should mention Aroden, Magnus. There are stories... never confirmed... that those old ruins were sacred to Aroden once, but they could be no more than tales to excite children around the campfire. I hope you find what you seek."
She frowns. "As for Dahrunn, I've told you most of what I know. He is very new to the area, eager to conquer territory and gain a foothold here, but I do not know much else about him."

You put on your cold weather gear, and prepare for your long trek up the mountain.
The trail leading up Mount Ganog is steep and winding. The perpetual fog up the steep and snowy path makes navigating by air a challenge, but with Grigorii’s marching song you all keep a very fast pace that keeps off some of the worst of the chill. The temperature drops steadily as you climb, your breath coalescing into white clouds as you exhale.
A bitter wind whips between the cliffs that form this narrow defile, chafing at uncovered skin. At the center of the pass a pair of weathered stone towers jut from the snow.
The wind will cause a -2 to normal ranged attacks and anything requiring perception.

Images, 1 is real Masafusa: 1d3 ⇒ 3
She pops one of Masafusa's images!
Longbow 2nd Iterative, Deadly Aim, Strong Winds: 1d20 + 12 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 12 - 2 = 22
Images, 1 is real Masafusa: 1d2 ⇒ 2
She pops another one of Masafusa's images!
Longbow 3rd Iterative, Deadly Aim, Strong Winds: 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (6) + 7 - 2 = 11
She misses Masafusa completely!
___
Blue
The Blue Harpy meanwhile attempts to shake this pesky blindness....
Blue Will Save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
...but her day just gets worse and worse!
"Damn glitter!"
She still can't see, but she can sure as heck feel the tower wall behind her. With only terrible options before her, she attempts to full withdraw off the tower, and then flies up at half-speed (45 degree angle) because she just cannot see!
Flight, Blind, Strong Winds: 1d20 + 12 - 4 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 12 - 4 - 2 = 18
She manages the DC 10 flight check to fly upwards at half speed as there is nothing in the immediate area to crash into at this height. She is about 20 feet up above the top of the tower, flying aimlessly...
___
Purple
The Purple Harpy decides to stop singing and looks for a victim. Not being a complete idiot, she does not go towards the tower of death. Purple sees Tink Tink, all alone!
"Were you waiting for me, lovely?"
Morningstar: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 25
She misses!
___
Vendel has one final round of fascination, and must follow either Blue or Purple. Sorry! However, he can choose how he follows... Blue is in the air, Purple is near the ground. If to follow means falling off the tower, he gets another will save.
ORDER: Vendel (fascination), Pai, Masafusa, Red Archer Harpy (shot), Blue Harpy (blind, -46, full withdraw), Purple Harpy (bash and whiff), Grigorii, Magnus
The whole party is up!
Grigorii

Anticipating the ifrit's fascination with the harpies' song would lead him off the tower, Grigorii readies himself to jump.
"I don't suppose you can flap those fans of yours and fly, huh buddy?"
He extends an arm to steady Vendel, "Don't worry, I'll catch you."
Grigorii readies his action to jump off the tower with Vendel and catch the two of them with feather fall
All the harpies flyin' through the valley
Move west down center o’ the winter road
And the ‘bad boys’ are jumping from the tower
All these good guys get down for a fresh start
Now I'm free, I'm free fallin'
Yea I'm free, free fallin'
All you had to do was rage
All you had to do was rage
All you had to do was rage
Here you are now, brawling it up, and I don't know what to say
I've been picking up the pieces of the mess you made
People like you always get back the shove they pushed in pride
But people like me are only stronger when we say goodbye
Rage
Hey, all you had to do was rage
Had them in the palm of your hand
Then why'd you have to go and lock me out when I’m rage singin’
Rage, hey, now you say you want it
Back now that it's just too late
Well, it could've been easy
All you had to do was rage

I'm assuming I have a turn in there somewhere
Seeing an enemy near Tink will switch his stance Swift action to go into Pummeling Style and Tink will return the favor with a flurry of attacks. Edit: Not accepting rage song, mostly as I had everything else calculated
Ok this gets kinda wierd and feel free to disagree, with any part of it. Tink will try and hit the harpy, assuming his first strike hits, he'll use a free action to make a reposition attempt (pummeling bully) to bring the harpy to the ground, then sub in a trip attempt for his next attack, before continuing his flurry. Normally, he would use flying kick to change targets when the harpy goes down, but as they are flying, he'll just stop.
First unarmed strike: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (4) + 19 = 23DMG: 2d6 + 16 ⇒ (2, 1) + 16 = 19
Repostion (free action): 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (18) + 22 = 40
Attack 2, Trip attempt: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (20) + 24 = 44
All now vs. Prone AC?
AoO from Greater Trip: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (3) + 19 = 22DMG: 2d6 + 16 ⇒ (1, 6) + 16 = 23
Iterative: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (14) + 13 = 27DMG: 2d6 + 16 ⇒ (2, 5) + 16 = 23
Attack 4, haste: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (7) + 19 = 26DMG: 2d6 + 16 ⇒ (3, 6) + 16 = 25
If that seems too odd or doesn't seem like it should work
A flurry would be,
Attack 23 - DMG 19
Attack 37 - DMG 23
Attack NAT 20 to confirm 17 - DMG 23 or 48
Attack 33 - DMG 2d6 + 16 ⇒ (6, 1) + 16 = 23
| GM Hmm |
Grigorii readies to leap off the tower with the ifrit, planning to feather fall them both.
And then Tink Tink acts!
Yes, you totally had an action in there. I just goofed in composing.
Tink Tink full attacks Purple, doing....
Damage: 19 + 23 + 23 + 25 = 90
...90 hit points of damage. When he's done, he looks like a kid that just busted open a feathered piñata full not of candy, but blood. The harpy is now bleeding out.
Stabilize?: 1d20 + 1 - 8 ⇒ (10) + 1 - 8 = 3
ORDER: Vendel (fascination), Pai, Masafusa, Red Archer Harpy (shot), Blue Harpy (blind, -46, full withdraw), Purple Harpy (bleeding out), Tink Tink (shred-o-matic), Grigorii (readied), Magnus
Vendel, Pai, Masafusa and Magnus are up!
Vendel Naughton

Wait pretty singer, don't fly away, I will follow you, know what I mean?!
"...know what I mean?!
Vendel prepares to leap off the tower...
Will Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
...and resists the urge to do so. He runs down the stairs of the tower to get at the Harpy near the ground.
Fighting Fan Attack (piranha strike,flank): 1d20 + 18 - 3 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 18 - 3 + 2 = 30
Damage + Sneak Attack: 1d4 + 16 + 2d6 ⇒ (4) + 16 + (3, 5) = 28

Invisible enemies still get attacks of opportunity against you, and you can't withdraw from combat if you're blinded.
So, she could not have used the withdraw action.
As the blind harpy flies away from Magnus, he will attack her ruthlessly, smiting the evil creature that she is.
AoO +3 Adamantine Falchion, PA, Smite, Haste, Rage: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (7) + 25 = 32 smite, PA, etc: 2d4 + 32 ⇒ (2, 3) + 32 = 37
Magnus pulls out a potion of fly and gulps it down.
He now has 70' of flight with the haste.
If the blue harpy changes her action, so will I. However, this really changes a lot.

Sorry guys, normally I won't spoiler my attacks like that, but I wanted to try something I felt was within the rules, while also within the GMs ability to say doesn't work
When Tink Tink goes, you see a flurry of feathers from both the harpy and Tink, he seems to hit the harpy, drag it to the ground, then trip the harpy, before making sure it stays on the ground.

Pai casts acidic spray at the leader, tired of listening to her. Pai will move 10' south, just to make sure she couldn't be located.
Damage 9d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 2, 4, 2, 5, 3, 3, 3) = 26
Reflex DC 21 for half and to avoid continuing damage next round. Round 2 of Greater Invisibility.
