Blooming Catastrophe Return to Grave

While there's still a chance of some table shuffling, feel free to dot in here if you'd like. The Special won't begin for a bit under a month, but that' plenty of time to get ready, talk tactics, and RP it up before any time pressure starts kicking in.

As you dot in, could you please confirm the following:

Character Name
Level
PFS #
Faction
Day Job if any (may as well get that out of the way now)
Any weird things, especially passives I should know about

The latter's a bit vague, but due to the nature of PbP the more random things I can factor in without needing to 'rewind' (ie. I have Trap Spotter so could have maybe seen that, I get +3 against psychic effects, Aram Zey is explicitly less rude to me than my colleagues, etc) can be helpful to know.

Hello everyone.

Talking tactics so we can speed through play as best we can:

A bit of a disclaimer up front. Crios is a cautious one, and willing to go slow through any scenario, creeping through it with stealth or subterfuge just as easily as with direct confrontation.

I personally understand the need for speed in a special so don't worry, that is just his persona, the "ever calm" monk. I personally love to post often, at any time of day or night and will usually be waiting for new post to pop up... because I really am having a blast playing this game. That said, on to tactics.

Crios has a staff of entwined serpents that he can and will use when ranged is the best option available. It allows him to shoot two magic missiles(CL3) all day, everyday. That said, it isn't much damage so he prefers to mix things up in melee.

He will frequently walk with his wand of shield in one hand, and his staff in his other in order to start a fight with shield up. His AC with Mage Armor(cast from his other wand) is 18, and 22 with Shield spell. If worried and he has time, he can take one of his shield of faith potions to get to AC24.

He will flurry w/his staff in 1 hand and use power attack for 1d6+8 or if he uses it in both hands it is 1d6+11. He will use spell combat when appropriate but save it for the big fights. He also is not afraid to use his arcane pool to aid in a fight. I will also try to set up flanks for Kivuli when I can and stay out of the archer's line of sight so they don't have soft cover to deal with.

For general adventuring out of combat, he has most Knowledge skills at 10 with a few at just 6. I noticed we have plenty of Knowledge skills(heck plenty of good skills period!) to go around though so we should have someone rolling well enough to get what we need on a check.

I noticed Keriassa is very diplomatic(+10), as is Prof F(+7) while I trail behind with a +5. I guess I should stick to aid other unless that is frowned upon.

Kivuli is our go to stealth, perception, traps guy with lots of skills to boot, with his extra +d6 to roll. Like I said, we have good skills.

I noticed Prof F has some nice area damage spells so I if that comes up I will try to get out of your way. If Keriassa keeps message up on the group at all times we can communicate that sort of thing easily.

Anyone have anything to add? Let's do it here. Cheers folks.

I too am a big fan of the stealth, but also realize the time crunch placed on specials. That said, I will try and get into/provide flank when possible. Can use Long Arm if needed to attack if positioning presents an issue.

I have some Alchemist's Fire, Antiplague and Antitoxin. Additionally, I have a grappling bolt and knotted silk rope for times when these things come up. I also have a Wand of Infernal Healing, please let me know if your character would prefer not to be healed with that. I don't want anyone to feel that I violated their character's moral code without consent.

On a side note, I have played with Crios in PbP before (indeed, I have played with the player for close to thirty years, lol).

Blooming Catastrophe Return to Grave

Hello! We're now less than a week away from the kickoff for this!

I see a lot of RP already starting in the gameplay thread, which is great. The special will begin this coming Friday, but right now please feel free to continue talking amongst yourselves. You, and dozens if not hundreds of other Pathfinder agents have all been summoned to the Cairnlands just outside of Absalom. The exact nature of what exactly all of you have been called for is still a flurry of rumor and theorizing, but everyone can tell it is something BIG.

There are also dozens of vendors wandering the area hawking their wares. While you may have some (though not a tremendous amount) of time to make last minute purchases shortly, if you have any general gear you were planning on buying now would be a good time.

Blooming Catastrophe Return to Grave

And, per our gracious Overseer GM (Hmm, bless her ambitious heart) please also post or PM me botting instructions for your PC, should you be incapacitated or the Paizo website decide to ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ at you as it has been intermittently wont to do as of late.

Paizo is aware of the increasing downtime errors they've been having lately and are working on it. Given the time-sensitive aspect of this (and all) multi-table specials however, if you have a general combat macro/gameplan, please let me or another player know so if you're AWOL for a few days we can keep the encounter going and you all can still do your part for the massive undertaking!

Scarab Sages

Gnome "Professor" HP 80/80 | AC14 T11 FF14 | CMD 11 | F11 R3 W10 | Init +0 | Per +10 (+6)

You're always free to assume the Professor heals, mumbles to himself absentmindedly or tosses out a fire spell.

Keriassa will shoot as many arrows with Deadly Aim as possible.

+8 1d8+5 for a single shot
+6/+6 1d8+5 for rapid shot

In both cases, she can ignore a single friend/foe who counts as soft cover and has point blank shot (+1/+1) and precise shot.

If she has raging song going, she will continue it. When it is on, she will use Reckless Abandon and Inspired Rage to get an additional +1 to hit/+1 damage per arrow.

Blooming Catastrophe Return to Grave

And we're off!!

Last chance to make any final purchases before the scenraio begins. You all receive an item pack (snapleaf, 2 air crystals, endure elements potion) as indicated in the gameplay thread, and in addition to normal Prestige options you can buy a variant Planetary Adaptation as noted in the thread as well.

The comet beckons very very soon!

Blooming Catastrophe Return to Grave

So, hopefully after this start there won't be any more insanely long posts for a while :)

The give a bit more summation of the huge box text between me and the Overseer: there's something trapped on this asteroid. You don't know if it's good or bad but its incredibly powerful and you need to find out what it is: and then free or stop it accordingly.

Right now there are three areas the Pathfinders have identified to explore and push forward in:

CRATER
FROZEN CITY
SEA OF LIGHT (sun-facing side with a strange metal craft crashed there)

As you and the other teams explore further, you may discover more locations on Aucturn's Tear, but these are the three available now. You can begin at any of the three. You can also later decide to move back to a different area, but that will take some more time (mostly for purposes of spell durations)

Feel free to debate amongst yourselves which you would like to explore and move to first. I personally don't have a preference how you choose to kill yourselves :), and will wait for a simple majority.

That said, we know there are difficulties and are aware and taking steps to adjust as needed. For now my suggestion would be to try different browsers/Internat methods if possible.

Also my monsters are slow to react apparantly. All the better to lull you into a false sense of security ;)

Thank you! I try to liven things up a bit in PbP which - due to the medium - can sometimes be a bit dry.

And for those still somewhat unsure of what exactly is going on on this rock, soon you should have the opportunity to learn potential quite a bit more about the situation.

I am just highly suspect of this 'wish' altogether and would rather not accept anything. However, if we must accept a gift, then I am on board with the weakening of an enemy.

Scarab Sages

Gnome "Professor" HP 80/80 | AC14 T11 FF14 | CMD 11 | F11 R3 W10 | Init +0 | Per +10 (+6)

I suspect our party is at a power level where any enemy in the scenario would be toast by our high powered DPR characters, so I'm not sure weakening (reduced HP?) is really something we need.

I'd almost suggest a wish for a magic item that can help us recover someone in the case of unlucky rolls (a bad save, an untimely greataxe crit), like a staff/rod that can heal/raise/etc. Thus we're basically wishing in a way to protect the downside of bad luck in the scenario and PP expenditures.

Something along the lines of a staff of life (way too expensive). Staff of healing with partial charges?

Just my 2c.

Blooming Catastrophe Return to Grave

So I'm seeing, or think I'm seeing, 2 items, 2 enemies, and one "what are you thinking you fools!" (Leaning enemies).

You can chat a bit more, and feel free to chime in Jade if you have an opinion. I will likely not post the next thing until late tonight or tomorrow morning in either case (work/IRL game)

My vote is for the items, especially one that could prevent a death, as the professor suggested.

Blooming Catastrophe Return to Grave

A fairly split table then, which is fine.

For reasons of both Blanmieux somewhat ceding voting too strongly due to player knowledge, the wished-for items officially being only an offer or weapons or armor rather than any various thing, and in honesty to - given the tie - spare the negotiations in PbP's pace about exactly what to request, I am interpreting the group as a whole as choosing to bring 'wrath' down upon some of the enemies on Aucturn's Tear and weaken their ability to resist you.

If that's okay, I'll have the next post up in the morning.
