Alkie, could you take a step back? I'd like to blast this thing
... till I get to the bottom and I see you again
Fissa step up, give everybody in the way a chance to step back and
Wouldn't Caern's fire work wonders here?
Yeah yeah yeah hey
| GM Zahmahkibo |
Where are you firing from, Fissa? The jar is 15 feet off the ground, outside the 15-foot cone range from your current spot.
Chord of Shard: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 6) = 11
Reflex, DC 14: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
The bard sends a cascade of piercing sound towards the jar, but the object somehow manages to vibrate itself out of the spell's path.
Yes, the jar apparently has a statblock, including saves. The party is up!
Fissa Fuihlah
|
I'll move up to straight under it then. I think the position I just marked on the map should work. I've got about 5 feet for Fissa's own length, so should be able to make 15 feet. Alkenstar would step back, so can I also hit some of these tendrils?
Is there actually some way to reach it? Climb up there?
Caern Esriellen
|
"We could also attempt to sever the remaining tendrils with this," Caern mentions as he draws his sickle. "It would probably go better if one of you tried to use it though. With my arm strength, I sometimes wonder why I even carry this around with me..."
Move action draw sickle, 5-foot step North, and ready my standard action to hand the sickle to anyone that wants to borrow it to try to sunder the tendrils. -2 STR mod means I would probably take way too long if I attempted to sever anything this way.

In case you run into a were-daffodil? Fissa mocks the spell caster.
This whole breaking pots endeavour would be a lot easier if Felinros here would just wake up.
The woman is still unable to act, right? If not, disregard the following:
Fissa will move to the other side, and try to blast the last remaining tendrils with his last spell. He'll catch the woman in the blast as well.
I believe Alkenstart stepped out of the way, but I positioned myself on the other side anyway. I guessed that's where I'd find the remaining tendrils. If it takes a step south to achieve this, or some other position, just move me there.
Chord of shards, Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 3) = 8
| GM Zahmahkibo |
The woman reacts violently to the severance of the first three tendrils, though the remaining two pulse with some sort of malevolent energy that seems to sooth her agitation.
Sever damage: 3d3 ⇒ (2, 2, 2) = 6
Woman's reflex save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
This boon does not last, however, as the remaining umbilicals are sliced to bits by another sonic blast. The woman herself, though blinded, somehow manages to sense Fissa's incoming spell and ducks out of the way, avoiding further injury. No damage.
Sever damage: 2d3 ⇒ (1, 2) = 3
Woman takes 6, heals 2, takes 3, for net of 7 damage. She is stunned and blinded for 1 more round, and stunned for 1 round after. She is still prone as well. I believe Felinros has 3 rounds remaining until all the effects of Color Spray wear off, though he will also be prone when he wakes.
The party is up!

While the woman is stunned, Fissa will try to grapple and pin her. Anyone have a rope? Something to tie her up with? I would't want her to start flinging spells again.
Grapple: 1d20 ⇒ 18 Against a stunned, prone opponent?
Fissa Fuihlah
|
Ah, the poor girl that tried to fry Caern...
If poppa Blackros drops by, I'll have so much explaining to do...
Fissa Fuihlah
|
I'd be very happy if we could tie her up in some way.
Fissa keeps holding the girl pinned, and hopes for a little aid in neutralising her once she wakes up. Alkie, Caern, do any of you have any rope?
Caern Esriellen
|
"...rope. Right. It's been so long since I bought this that I forgot it was weighing me down in the first place."
Caern withdraws the 100 feet of silk rope from his pack and offers it to anyone that can tie knots better than him (namely everyone).
This is all assuming I have a turn before she wakes up, of course.
Fissa Fuihlah
|
Relieved by the wizard's conjuration of a rope, Fissa will try and tie up the woman. It's for her own good.
I'm sure you're all having a good time watching me lose my credibility, but don't we have an urn to smash?
Fissa feels seriously inglorious wrestling and tying up a harmless girl. Except that she wasn't harmless just a moment before. Doesn't add to his inglorious feeling, though.
| GM Zahmahkibo |
Tying up normally takes three standards: grapple -> pin -> tie up. Stunned, blinded, and grappled falls a bit short of full restraint, but you can attempt to tie up with only a grapple, and -10 on the CMB roll. You have one more round after this until she's back in action, so it's up to you whether you want to spend this round pinning and tie up next turn, or go for it now.
Fissa Fuihlah
|
I have no way to know she'll kick back into action next round, so I'll just pin her. Can someone else tie her up while I hold her?
Look, Alkenstar, I'll keep the woman pinned, and try to tie her up. Perhaps if you can help me out here?
In any case, this round I'll pin, next is tie. I think Felinros is itching to have a go...
Fissa Fuihlah
|
Let's hope that cares of her. Now for the urn: I have no more spells to hurt it with, but I still have this... Fissa says as he produces his crossbow, loading an arrow.
Not sure if I got an answer to the question: is there some way to reach the urn by climbing up? This whole thing would be a lot easier to destroy if we could - say - throw it down a 60 foot well.
| GM Zahmahkibo |
Moved you onto the arch on the map. It will require a Strength check to unseat once you get up there.
The archaeologist dashes up the steps and begins his nimble ascent of the carven gateway.
Fissa has loaded his crossbow. Caern is up, then the awake but bound and prone woman. After her turn we'll be back to a four-man party.
Caern Esriellen
|
Caern draws his wand of Magic Missile, and readies himself for any new threats.
Basically readying an action to cast Magic Missile at any newcomers that might arrive, due to the woman summoning things or something, if that is possible. I think this kind of readied action is possible since we're still acting in initiative, but if not, I'll just draw the wand. I won't shoot the woman though.
| GM Zahmahkibo |
That's too non-specific for a readied action. You need to at least be aware of your target(s), otherwise it's a matter of initiative.
As the stupefying magic wears off, the woman blinks her coal-black eyes and begins to struggle against her bonds.
Escape Artist DC 20: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Despite Alkenstar's best efforts, the lithe sorceress easily slips free of the knotted rope and springs to her feet.
The party is up! The stun wears off Felinros this round, but he is still prone when his full senses return.
Caern Esriellen
|
Keeping with the creepy theme...
Caern waves his hand whimsically and whispers sweet nothings at the alarmingly slippery girl, using his best demon whisper.
Sotto Voce (Will save DC 15), shaken on a failed save. Let our attempts to traumatize our enemy continue!
Fissa Fuihlah
|
Caern, can't you reapply a colour spray?
Fissa will spend another round singing, inspiring competence .
Caern Esriellen
|
Ah...yes. Yes I can. Thank you for reminding me of that. I'm not even sure if I ever stopped holding that wand? GM ruling on where that wand is right now? (given that, in my forgetfulness, I have drawn a second wand, and also cast a spell naturally, which would need at least one free hand...)
Brother Felinros
|
Shaking his head, Brother Felinros stands up and gets his blade ready, glaring at the captive girl. "There a good reason she's still alive? he growls.
All her tendrils have been cut, correct?
Fissa Fuihlah
|
Yes, we can't rescue her if she's dead.
All of them have been cut, yes.
