BACKGROUND:

Azoth Seastrider was born in Deadbridge in the River Kingdoms. His father raised him to be a river pirate like himself. As Azoth got older, however, he wanted to see more of the world. He sailed all over the Inner Sea learning new techniques with various crews. One such crew braved the Eye of Abendego and sailed into the Shackles for pillaging. Azoth gambled away his share of the riches and ended up abandoned in Augustana, where he evaded pirate-hunters and escaped to Absalom. It was there where he heard of the Pathfinders and joined up with only one thing in mind: fame and riches.

Silver Crusade

Fredrik here with PFS# 36111-2. (I played the First Steps on these boards with Dasiji Lekaya, and I'd like to do it once more.) Dragon disciples look like fun, so Bendaxalon is a draconic sorcerer (brass dragon) with a few of the gnomes' alternate racial traits from the ARG: Academician, Darkvision, Gift of Tongues, and (of course) Pyromaniac.

Background:
A devout follower of Valani, Bendaxalon grew up on a volcanic island between Osirion and Qadira. However, as he grew older, a latent talent for fire magic was triggered by the influence of such close proximity to underground magma. When he got the idea to go spread the empyreal lord's creative destruction in the wider world, his community lovingly supported his ambition, and equipped him well for his travels; it is surely only a nasty rumor that even his fellow gnomes found his propensity for combustible accidents a little too exciting.

Description:
Bendaxalon doesn't look like at all like a fire mage, since his bushy mane is a frosty mix of white and blue, darker at the ends. It's a little cosmic joke; inside, he carries the heat of a distant brass dragon ancestor -- and the last thing you'll see before he roasts you with a blast of fire is his cold blue eyes, as piercing as an icicle.

Sczarni

I would like to withdraw my previous character, as I have found a local event that I will be playing him in tomorrow. I will make and enter a new character for use on here later.

Alright, I'm setting a hard deadline for character submissions: ~12 hours from now. There are 12 applicants so far (13 including Azoth) so I will be selecting my favourites from the lot tomorrow morning (Australian time).

I strongly suggest you have at least something resembling a character backstory/persona as that is what I will base my decisions on :)

Liberty's Edge

here is my replacement of Azoth...

Arithas Elethen 81531-2
Elf Alchemist 1
Andoran Faction

BACKGROUND:

Arithas has spent most of his life in Augustana, in Andoran. His family owns an alchemist there, and that is where he learned his trade. Arithas wanted more from alchemy though, and he soon discovered that he could create better things using his innate magical powers. He learned how to make extracts, bombs, and even mutagens that could change his form. He quickly learned more than his family could dream of teaching him, making him independent and self-reliant. With his father's blessing, and a shared hatred of slavery, set out to serve Andoran by joining the Pathfinders and with the purpose of learning everything he could about alchemy, and maybe taking out some slavers in the process.

I thought I should add that I am in PST... but I can definitely post at least once per day, plenty more and days I don't work

So I have read through the links you gave upthread but I havent been able to answer a question of mine. I had wanted to play a Grippli but I was unable to find out if I was allowed, would it be alright if I did? Sorry for the noobish question, but I am new to society and really dont know :)
If not I will try and find something else, but would really like to be able to play the grippli if possible, thanks!

Scarab Sages

@Gobo You can only play the core races, Aasimar, Tiefling and Tengu unless you have a chronicle sheet that unlocks a different race (You usually get these from playing at conventions)

Grand Lodge

Li Shuo's Backstory:
A native of Quain. Li Shuo has traveled to the Inner Sea to see the world and escape the vengeance of criminals.

Li Shuo was always unnervingly still. As a small child he would stare for hours at nothing, saying only that he was "listening to the wind." When set a task, he would do it with diligence, but with little enthusiasm. He spent all his free time thinking, watching and playing by himself.

When he was six, his parents invited the monks of the Dragon Fist temple to examine their son, but the monks rejected Li Shuo; he lacked the malleable nature they sought in their novices. Years later, a ragged and penniless ronin entered his village and saw the boy standing on a low hill, motionless. "What are you doing, boy?" the ronin asked.

"I'm being quiet," said the boy.

"Why?" asked the warrior.

"So that I can hear that cricket that crawls through the grass at your feet," said the strange boy.

The ronin was in fact a wandering zen master. Intrigued, Master Qiang sat down to listen with Li Shuo, placing his one fine possession across his knees. This was his bow. The two became friends, Li Shuo's first real friend in the world, for the two both liked to listen more than talk, and when they did speak, it was about the world, the gods, and how to listen to the quiet things inside and out, not about rice farming or the weather.

Master Qiang taught Li Shuo about the greater world, about lands beyond the seas and about how to use a bow. Content that he had found a worthy pupil, Qiang began to teach the boy the real secrets of archery. Not bone and sinew, wood and muscle, but being and non-being. About hitting the target before drawing the arrow. About how when one is truly at peace within, nothing is impossible without, for nothing without is real. The only real thing, taught Master Qiang, is the the unity between self and the world, a discipline reached through unity with one focused part of the world, the bow.

To the relief of his parents, Li Shuo became a monk under Qiang's tutelage. In the land of Quain, this was among the most honorable of positions and Shuo's parents understood that the gods had other plans for their son.

Qiang and Shuo traveled the land of Quain, practicing zen and archery and living the lives of itinerant monks, begging for their sustenance and occasionally running off a thug or bandit in recompense to the peasants who reverently maintained them as they wandered the land. This was to be their downfall.

In the unmapped flyspeck village of Huonglai, Qiang shot a drunken bandit who was in the act of ravishing a rice-farmer's daughter. The man lived and ran and in his mercy, Qiang let him go. Unfortunately, the bandit was the son of Lao Donhua, a notorious bandit chieftain and lord of many thugs and assassins. Soon several attempts were made to kill Qiang and his apprentice, but the two fled into the night. For months they stayed on the move but Lao pursued them for their temerity and in the streets of the capital, Lanming, they were set upon by several professional killers during a festival. Lao's men swarmed Qiang, who fought them magnificently and ordered Li Shuo to run. Reluctantly, the apprentice obeyed.

After Qiang's death, Lao's men pursued Li from town to town. Even leaving Quain only delayed the inevitable and he narrowly escaped death in Lingshen. Fleeing east, he learned of a ship departing for the far-distant lands of Avistan. In the port he learned that an organization called the Lantern Lodge would pay for his journey if he agreed to join the Pathfinders. And thus he has arrived on the docks of Absalom, poor, hunted, with his training unfinished and owing a debt to the Pathfinders.

Sczarni

@darkcenturi don't you have to have the ARG before you can play those races too?

Scarab Sages

You're supposed to own any of the resources you use to build your character. I was just noting which races are legal as an option without Chronicle sheets.

Grand Lodge

Just confirming that Khale's background has been added to his profile.

Dark Archive

Trying to get this one in under the wire... Balak Stone, PFS# 61161-10
Oni-Spawn Tiefling Monk. Background and stats in profile.

Cheers!

Hello everyone,

I've made the discussion boards for two groups, as below. Thanks for applying, and I hope we can have fun with this!

To the two people I didn't select: you made my job easy by not having anything but a character stat block on your profile. :) PFS may be pretty hack and slash, but I do appreciate that you have some sense of roleplaying in your application! Thanks for your interest, however.

The groups are as follows:

Group 1
Arithas Elethen
Bendaxalion Brillamorrow
Elysia Skyfrond
Khale d'Anlyn
Li Shuo
Triccio 'Trig' Petali

Group 2
Balak Stone
Clacent Freeblade
Garret
Shivaan
Thayn Runeseed
Valnir

*bump*

Looking for 1-3 players to play through First Steps I with Group 2. (They didn't finish part 3 early enough to begin First Steps II, partially because I was out of town.) No experience in PFS needed!

Shadow Lodge

I am currently playing First Steps III here on the boards. Would you accept a pregen for this game so I could assign the credit to my other character later on? I could play any class the party is missing.

Also, and I am not sure how accurate that info is since I could not find it myself, I heard talk here on the forums that paizo postponed the retirement deadline in about a month for first steps games being played as pbp.

According to this thread, as well as the rules on p30 of the PFS Guide to Organized Play, if you play a level 1 pregen, you must apply that credit to a NEWLY CREATED 1st-level character. So you wouldn't be able to apply that to your current character.

Apart from that, a pregen is fine with me, although I always give preference to non-pregens over pregens.

As for your second paragraph... if that is true, that is EXCELLENT! I will be looking into that for sure.

Scarab Sages

I've heard the same, but no official source. I was told as long as the game was started before the original deadline and finished mid-end Sept it would be accepted.

If you don't mind someone who has played and GMed First Steps several times I have a few characters and wouldn't mind rolling up a new one to fill a need.

Dak, you're more than welcome. I'm sure you know better than to spoil things for those who haven't played anyway.

This thread seems to imply that if I contact the new online play VC we may be able to get some wriggle time. In which case... this may result in us playing First Steps II instead! Woot!

Dark Archive

Hi GM Alice,

I'm looking to play with a level 1 cleric of Abadar the first step series part one (I already played the second and will be playing the third part later).

I'm used to PbP game.

Grand Lodge

GM Alice:

It looks like you already have a fair number of martial characters, but if you are willing to take on another ranged martial type, Talor here could be a good fit. He has completed First Steps Parts II and III, but not Part I.

Full disclosure: I have played First Steps I with another character. I have no problem playing through as though it's my first time.

Scarab Sages

Hi Alice, it's Derek from the First Steps II game. I am finally willing to give wizards a chance. If you've still got a spot, I'd love a chance to get some player time in!

I'll be updating background today.

Is there a class you need/prefer? Looking to get into PFS.

Hi guys,

I've received confirmation from Joseph Caubo that we do have until Sept 30 to finish the retiring scenarios, provided that we start before the deadline and I contact him in advance with the game info. Awesome!

That means we'll be running through First Steps II followed by First Steps I afterwards.

Unfortunately, that makes it unsuitable for Nicklod and Talor. Sorry, guys!

@Derek, welcome! :)

@Masumi (and others?), our current party is:

- Human Ranger (melee)
- Elf Ranger (ranged)
- Tiefling Monk (grapple)
- Human Wizard (Guilford Baldwin)

No need to feel like you should "round out" the party, mind you. Play whatever you like.

Sovereign Court

I have a level one in breakable fighter human. Has 1xp, just finished pirate campaign. I can find a way to link the log once I get my computer in the morning. Just throwing my hat in the ring so to speak, never played first steps either :)

Log

The Exchange

Sweet.
This is Merck, I would love to join since this will probably be my only chance to play this module. I had an ideia for a gypsy warrior that led to Nicolae, all the info is in the profile.

Grand Lodge

Is there still a slot open?

@Helaman, I'll let you chuck up a character if you're interested, but let's say anyone who hasn't put up their hand already is too late. I hope to start the next mod ASAP. :)

Grand Lodge

Character nearly ready to go - go to the game play thread?

Grand Lodge

Bummer - for some reason I had the impression you were down to Part I. Best of luck, and I will keep an eye out in case you need another when FS1 comes around.

Thanks!

Silver Crusade

Helaman here - just a final tweak or two needed but can go now

Sovereign Court

Crunch behind alias :)

Will pick the last two in the morning to give those couple that showed interest a chance (and also because I need to rest)

Thanks all :)

Alright - Yarg, Chasik, and Nicolae, please head to the discussion board.

(Guilford has decided to sit out for this one.)

Grand Lodge

we have 3 or 4 players?

6 - three from this thread and three that were already in the game. (One player went AWOL before we finished Part 3, and two couldn't continue with subsequent scenarios for various reasons.)

The Exchange

Are you still taking entries? I would like to sign up Exiel. Full stats already included.

Sorry, Exiel, I just picked people for the spots I have open. Better luck next time :)
