You & I must have different definitions of 'surprise' Milton :). (Also, your Bluff is not as high as you think it is, compared to a wish-granting immortal's Sense Motive :)
Just as the master Xojjet Cinderfury decides the rude interlopers are thieves and vagabonds and not potential business partners, the barrister proves him right.
Milton steps forward casting a spell. Magical energy emanates from the tiefling revealing a large figure standing behind the desk. Fire rolls from his dark red skin as he pointings at the tiefling. Long horns sprouts from the side of his head to curve up toward the ceiling. Gold jewelry pierce his horns, ears and even nose. This is the same efreet from the portrait downstairs.
Fendel's careful eye finds a weakness in the efreet's musculature and looses an arrow into it.
Xojjet roars in anger. He flicks his finger at Milton and three fiery rays spring toward the tiefling. He shouts something in ignan to the magma creature next to him and something else in an unknown language. A line of fire appears before him and he steps toward Milton. Instead of crossing the desk he disappears into the line only to emerge behind the tiefling—battle axe raised—just as a supernaturally snarling Craterflame closes in and swings at the tiefling as well.

I believe all 3 of those rays hit Milton, but they each do 5 less damage, and then the axe and slam miss. 27 total damage taken.
Someone remind me to ask later, how he casts, moves, and swings an axe!
The extra 2d6 of damage being rolled on that axe? Now it didn't hit me this round, so no concern there. There aren't many abilities that add 2d6. Viscious is possible. Bane seems unlikely. Unholy wouldn't work against me. Anarchic would certainly work. Just wanting to make sure it's legit, before it starts kicking my butt!
Nivik Klist

Nivik decides that aiding Milton could be a wise move. The wizard casts Cold Fireball, DC 20: 8d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 4, 4, 1, 2, 5, 3) = 30 behind the enemy assaulting Milton! Like by the desk so Milton doesn't get caught.

Last guy similar to this I ran into had Quickened Scorching Ray.
Ohhh! That could definitely be it! Those scenario writers are out to get us!
Sai'Dothwyn
|
I would think vital strike might work as well for that extra 2d6 on the great axe, as I think Bane might be a bit specific for the weapon to have on it. If the scorching ray was a quickened spell(and I bet it was) then he couldn't use a similar bane ability to yours with a swift action so my money is on vital strike. Either way, it is wicked and you don't want to be hit.
Seeing the best chance the team has is to quickly focus an assault on Xojjet, Sai rushes in after Nivik's icy fireball goes off behind the large outsider, her blood quickening with enhanced agility. Calling on her patron for his divine favor, she is grateful as she feels it infuse her being.
Hoping to avoid the opportunity attacks from the great reach of the two large enemies, but risking it none the less to help her friend, she uses her great speed and agility to jump over a chair and slide over the corner of the desk, while also using her defensive stance to safely get behind Xojjet and into a flank position for both her and Milton.
She attacks defensively from her flank position hoping to stun the large outsider with a precise strike to a nerve cluster.
Swift action to cast divine favor(+3/+3) using 1 fervor, free action to use bloodrage(+4 to Dex/adds +2 AC and Ref Save), move action(50 move speed) to get in position, standard action to attack defensively(crane stance-2 to hit, +4 to ac), stunning fist as part of attack(DC18Fort), Flanking gets +4 due to menacing amulet
Def Attack/Unarmed+modifiers: 1d20 + 15 - 2 + 3 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 15 - 2 + 3 + 4 = 38 Stunning fist DC18 Fort
magic blunt damage: 2d6 + 15 ⇒ (5, 6) + 15 = 26
This round Sai's AC is up to 37(31T) and her CMD is 44. I expect she will draw AoOs from both the large targets for her movement. It is a risk, but it will let Milton attack with an extra +2 flank bonus from menacing, which should stack with Milton's Outflank Teamwork feat for a whopping +6 for him.

Crap. Lets go with Grog then.
Grog howls as the salamanders spear sinks into his thick hide. The sound turns to something mournful and overflowing with pain as the creature slides off the spear tip and drops to the ground, unconscious.

Awen cries out as he hears Grog scream in pain. With a malice born of furry he redoubles his efforts to bring down the ugly brute before him. Too many have fallen already.. he mutters to himself, sparing a glance for the tiefling he stands guard over. "Sai! Keep it busy.. I am going to try and get Milton on his feet after this!"

Craterflame bursts into his namesake. Magma spouts up like a jet of fire then settles into a crater the indomitable Sai. Awen steps forward and directs his arrows at the guard peppering him with fletchings and anger.
So... 122 in one blow? He only had 132 to start & Nivik managed both cold & electrical damage, plus a little from Awen & KaKaw.
Nivik & Fendel to hopefully finish him off!
