Holly looks at her morningstar, puzzled by it bouncing off of the zombie. That is the strangest thing. I wonder if it will work on a skeleton or did the weaponsmith sell me a defective weapon? and Holly, still fighting defensively, swings with all of her might at the walking abomination.

Morningstar: 1d20 - 4 + 1 ⇒ (1) - 4 + 1 = -2

Yep, must be defective.

All is quiet

End of Combat

On the body of the dhampir you find a note that details plans to start an army of undead made from the “fish people” who have been frequenting this cave. There is also a quiver of 20 very nice arrows and a ring.

The Exchange

M Halfling Halfling Rouge 1 | HP: 9/9 | AC: 17 (T: 15, F: 13) | CMB: -1, CMD: 13 | F: +2, R: +7, W: +1 | Init: +4 | Perc: +4, Stealth: +8 | Speed 20ft | Crossbow Status: Primed and Ready

Alistair warily turns over the dhampir corpse. The arrows are useless to him so he holds them out towards the rest of the party. Seeing the ring he holds it up to the light, "pretty", he states,"but I wonder if its more than it seems?"

Alistair will attempt to appraise the value of the ring since he has no hope of determining if it's magical or not. Irregardless of value, he'll hand it over to whoever calls dibs first and go off to collect his bolts once the arrows are taken from his hands.

"I wouldn't mind adding those to my stockpile, should we face more of these creatures. I'll share, of course-" she notes, taking a glace at the others, "-if anyone else needs some."

She'll also take a moment to cast Detect Magic, examining the ring closely.

"Is anyone hurt?" asks Holly once the battle is over. Not seeing any injuries, Holly moves to the undead.

Holly will examine the dhampir body, applying her Knowledge Religion. She is interested in whether dhamphir's work alone or in groups, concerned this may be one of many working to raise an undead army. She also knows of some undead being is a state of stasis and will do a heal check to see if the dhampir is really dead, and if so, how did it die. She will work to put the body to rest, utilizing any techniques she knows about making sure it does not "come back to life". Once she is content that she has done all she can for the dhampir, she will work on putting the zombies and skeletons to rest as well. She doesn't have any eqiupment that will help, besides using her holy symbol and prayers.

I need to be better prepared for undead like this in the future. It is so hard to bring everything that you need and I can't carry much. Got to get one of those magic backpacks that you can carry stuff but doesn't weigh anything.

"Can someone help me move these corpses into the chamber so we can put their bodies to rest?" as Holly moves to the zombies. She can likely move the skeletons on her own but won't turn down help.

I mean, I don't like to hurt anything natural but will heal and protect everyone that I can. We just want to make this a better place to live and love peace. If we need to fight, so be it."

Holly knows that others tire of hearing about Sarenrae and tries not to bore Alistair with too many details. She will sense his response to see if he fell asleep.

After her prayers over the dead bodies, Holly will suggest they catch up on their mapping and grab a meal.

"Seems this room only has one entrance so should be a good place to rest, maybe just an hour or so. Oh, we should also get the map updated if we can. Maybe set up a guard or two if we are expecting trouble. I can take first watch. Did anyone have a chance to explore the rest of the room, maybe a small exit? Did anyone find any evidence of Uori's brothers? Just wondering if that nasty dhampir was successful in his plans."

As long as no one objects to a break, Holly will look through the rest of the room, looking for anything missed or any other exits. When she passes Nivla, Holly will pat him gently on the kneecap, saying, "You got to go into a smelly cave and meet Uori. I'm sure riches will follow. Have faith.". Holly will continue her search and wind up at the entrance chamber where she can see down the hallway and still see the party. She will take off her pack, sitting cross legged on the floor, using her shield as a backrest against the wall and dig out some rations.

Holly smiles at the irony of the dhampir being slain by it's own creations. After whatever rest can be had, Holly is ready to go back to the gillman if the party is ready. She will make sure they have the dhampir's note.

"Wasn't there another passageway off of large cavern?" Holly chats as they prepare to backtrack.

Hmm, interesting. As they make it back to the main chamber, Holly moves to where the gillman can see her and says to Uori, "Hi Uori, did you say that someone was hunting your people? Not sure if we found one of them. Do you know if there were a bunch hunting you or just maybe one of them?" and Holly hands him the note they found on the dhampir. "This was on a dhampir and there were a couple of zombies and skeletons. I don't think they were gillman, though, but if they were, they seemed to have killed the dhampir for us."

Did Holly notice if the zombies or skeletons were gillman? We did move the bodies but didn't ask what they originally were.

Male Gnome Bard 16, Storyteller (aka DM)

The Zombies and Skeletons were gillmen. I'll modify Holly's statement to Uori to accommodate this knowledge.

As Alistair sneaks on by the gillman toward the other cavern, Holly sneaks a bit herself, but stops at the gillman and lets him know of the party's findings.

Uori looks at the note, then back at Holly, "Thank you for this information and for eradicating the threat."

The passage leading from the gillmen’s holy site varies from 3 to 6 feet wide and is coated with the omnipresent bioluminescent fungi. There are several points where the cavern branches off, but all of them are either dead ends or circle back to the main tunnel. You travel for about 30 minutes until the cavern opens up as the persistent glow of the bluish fungi dimly lights the way deeper below the Kortos Mounts. The tunnels broaden to reveal a shallow river that bisects an immense tunnel stretching to the north and south. To the east a small passage exits the chamber at a steep incline. In front of you are 2 kobolds loading their slings as they see you from across the stream.

The stream is difficult terrain for the sake of this encounter, and any acrobatics checks are at a -2 through the shallow, slow-flowing stream.
