"Here Brialla, I have some caltrops in my backpack. If you want to scout once were inside and find a good spot to set up, we can utilize our element of surprise to the fullest."
Garr hands one of his bag of caltrops over to Brialla

GM Nefreet |

As you enter:
The dank scent of moss hangs heavy in the air as the gloom in the cave thickens. As you venture further the light virtually disappears, and the cramped corridors smell like fungus and rot. From deep within the cave the eery moans of some distressed creature echo in your direction.
Area D1 is dim lighting (20% miss chance), and areas D2-D3 are dark. Area D3 is where the sound is coming from. Red boxed areas represent difficult terrain, whether it be from slippery fungus or sloped angles.
Brialla: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11

Brialla will double move the way Kiliuk went, drawing a tanglefoot bag in one hand and the torch in the other.
Garr, do you have darkvision? If you don’t you are moving through darkness and need acrobatics check to move more than half speed through darkness because you are effectively blinded

Meraina |
2 people marked this as a favorite. |

![]() |

Garr readies the caltrops to place until after Kiliuk goads the chained giant into the choke point, waiting to drop the traps until after the half orc is back with the group

GM Nefreet |

Kiliuk sees the beast in full view!
It looks like someone has tossed wreaths of brightblooms over each of this giant's two heads. The petals rain to the floor as it struggles to free a mangled arm from iron shackles set into the wall.
The other arm holds a makeshift flail made from chain, wood and nails. One head snarls at Kiliuk as the other looks towards the shackles that still hold it in place. For now.

OUT OF COMBAT!
You easily find and disentangle a golden dragon-shaped pendant from underneath the corpse of the giant.

![]() |

Garr shifts back again to his normal human form, his animalistic rage seemingly already sated after his bear form takes a few sniffs of the unpleasant odor coming from the Ettin carcass and decides it's had enough fun for now. The man takes a second to peek at the carnage.. "Thank you my dear, I take that as the highest of compliments! What a sight this Ettin is." Garr replies, wiping his face off from all the gore, blood, and sweat caked onto it. A few unknown pieces of the giant still cling stubbornly in the large man's beard after he's done...

GM Nefreet |

After you've recovered the pendant and help each other exit the cave you suddenly find yourself face to face with Aurelliax in her true form!!
"You have my gratitude, Heroes of Highdelve," she says with the same soft but commanding voice you heard back in town. Although she dwarfs you physically, you feel nothing but peace in her presence.
Poking their heads from behind Aurelliax's tail are Richelle and Tolwin, still battered and bruised from your earlier encounter but missing the malice that had once filled their faces.
Aurelliax follows your gaze, and smiles, "It seems your mercy may earn them a chance to right the wrongs they have done. For that opportunity, I am happy to reward you in kind," she opens a massive clawed hand to reveal four golden statuettes, each similar in design to the pendant you found in the cave. She lays them at your feet. "Do what you will with these. Know that your deeds on this day will be remembered for years to come. But, I do have one more request to ask of you..."
She shifts to reveal that the previously broken wagon has not only been repaired, but is overflowing with freshly picked brightblooms!
"...would you be so kind as to bring these flowers to the jubilee? I have a feeling there's going to be some celebrating to do."
Thank you everyone! It was a pleasure GMing this for you! Please find your Chronicles HERE!
