Expecting the panel to be a touch panel, facial/retinal scanner or some such device Callidus inspects the door and panel to see how we may gain entry.

You think with a bit of luck and a smidgen of skill you can override the system to open the door.

Callidus manages to get the glass plate to light up in pretty colored patterns but all too quickly it fades to blackness.
Boregal had moved forward to just a few inches from where Callidus was working. When the screen goes dark again you all hear his voice in your heads, "I don't think that worked Friend Callidus."
Balon Marr
Balon raises his eyebrows at his comrades. A woman... he mouths to his companions, finishing with a smile.
"Adventurers, my dear! Intrepid souls here to rescue you and whatnot!" he calls.

"Oh thank all of the gods! You have killed that monster that ripped the Hozai apart haven't you?" A plaintiff tone comes into her voice, "You have killed it, right? It's safe for me to go home?"
Balon Marr
Balon puts two fingers to his temple. Young woman, can you hear me? he asks, mentally, after attempting to establish telepathic communication with her. Think the words to your reply to me, and I will hear them as if you spoke aloud.
Nasir of the Kiln
"Did you kill the giant monster or not!!??!!" You all hear the rising hysteria in her voice.
"No, but we killed it's young. We're hunting it down. Tell us about what happened.", Nasir says, ever the people person.
Balon Marr
There's no threat at present, we're trying to secure the area and prevent any more people like you being taken from their homes. It's safe, for now...but...we did see something rather disturbing out here. A worm burst out of a man's torso to attack us, killing him. Do you know anything about that? Balon comments, after Nasir finishes speaking. He doesn't want to confuse the poor girl with two voices speaking to her at once.

Callidus continues to inspect the door and lock mechanism. If the numenera controlling the door was completely disabled (unpowered and non-functional) does it seem as if the door would open, or would it remain locked?

"I came into to the pit looking for the source of the orange liquid that's been causing problems. After wandering around for what seemed like days, I realized I was lost. Luckily I ran into the Hozai and they let me come with them. We were heading towards where they said the exit was when we were attacked by a thing. It's horrible and, and, wrong...like it shouldn't exist but somehow it does. It's big but it's shape is always changing. I know that this sounds crazy but it looks like it's made of worms...it tore into the Hozai but when it looked at me I was frozen in place...I don't know what happened next...when I came back to myself I ran into this room and slammed the door shut and bolted it in place. There's no way I'm opening it until that thing is dead."

Nice roll...when you need to make up a bad roll later remind me and use the 20.
There's a manual lock that can only be opened from the other side of the door.

"If I were it, I would hide in the huge greenhouse and swoop in on my prey from above...or stick to these cramped hallways where my mobility is an advantage.", the Beyonder says calmly.
"Anyhow. Let's see of we can get a trail..."
Nasir searches in the halls around the carnage, looking for any signs of passage- including on the ceilings.

"Hmph. Yeah. The spirits of the hunt have grown stingy with their favor. Well! We could just wander and the beast will find us."

To recap the scene, you face a door that is secured from the inside. Behind you a corridor stretches away to the distance. A smaller corridor opens to the right off the main corridor about 100 feet from where you stand (that's the spot you originally entered this corridor). Further down the main corridor past the smaller corridor, you believe that you can make out several openings but will need to get closer to know if the openings are secured by doors or not.

"remember that teleporting house I wanted to go find ... Just saying. Look lady, we are your best, no, your only ticket out of here. Come with us now if you wanna live. Open the door in the next five seconds or the next thing you'll hear is our footsteps as we leave you to starve ... or worse ..."

Callidus' words impact the female more than all of the others put together. After a few seconds, you all hear a bolt been withdrawn from a locks followed by the door swinging open.
"Please take me home to my husband...I've started experiencing horrible pains in my abdomen. I think I may need to see a doctor."
Nano Callidus
"On second thought, maybe you should wait right there" ... thinking to Balon, in a frenetic brainstorm, "kill 'em both right here and now, cut it out and kill it, put her in some form of stasis, disable it ... is it numenera or pure biological .... contain it, study it ..."

It's too late to stop her from coming out of the room.
"Please take me home now."
Glaive Amadeus
Amadeus stands immobile. Thoughts racing.
Ok, what to do. We can't let her outside, that's inarguable. Is there a way to cure her? Maybe we could kill it without harming her. Fire is too damaging to herself. Electricity as well. Blades, spears, maybe bludgeoning? I'll come back to that. GOT IT!
Listen to me, miss. We're going to get you out of here, but there's somethign else we have to take care of first, ok? Balon, Callidus! Can you try to see if you can sense its' thoughts? Maybe you can fry it's nervous system without harming her!
Aubster
"Abdominal pains? Have you and your husband been trying to conceive? Or would you say these abdominal pains are more similar to a feeling from illness with no explanation?"
"You must be a doctor, right? How else could you know that we have been trying to have a child? So these are pregnancy pains?"
Balon Marr
Balon says to Callidus, She's infested with those worms. I have a plan to save her, but I'm going to need some help. Take her aside for a moment, distract her while I discuss what I need to do with the others.
Assuming he does, I'm going to ask the others what cyphers they have that could aid us in cutting her infestors out. It's the only way to cure her. He'll ask if anyone picked up the Monoblade cypher he traded out earlier - its incredibly sharp edge would be useful in...field surgery. He will also hold out his Stim Pill cypher, that he would use before attempting this.
Galahad Rothery
Galahad describes his cyphers, but ultimately they are likely useless in this endeavor. One pulls Galahad from the future to help himself at this time, one is an egg that babbles in a language no one knows, and the other is a mouse that can record audiovisual information.
Nano Callidus
"Bah ... she's like a piece of machinery!", Callidus falls to his knees whipping out the monoblade cipher. With a pause and a glance over his shoulder, "Unless one of you think you've got a better chance, I'm going in!"
