Irakelesh |

"Ah! Stairs. That will be the traditional way of getting up to the roof." Irakelesh winks at Aliva and moves up the stairs, taking two steps at a time, with complete disregard for traps.
On the roof, he examines the compass. "Well, you can see that a piece is missing. I wonder what and why. Maybe it just fell out."
Any knowledge that might help me?

GM Dak |

Khufu looks the device over and after a few moments has a pretty good idea on how the device functions. He notes that the pieces missing is a significant component of the device. Judging by his examination he things they are looking for a copper-wrapped quartz core, likely a part of the mechanism used to power the device.

Khufukhaf |

"It focuses it's power through a piece of quartz, wrapped in conductive copper."
"Some wretch must have happened along and removed it."
"Does anyone see anything like that." he asks, raising his hand up to shield his eyes and focus his gaze as he looks around the building.

GM Dak |

Khufu starts looking around and while he doesn't find the device close by he does take note of some tracks leading away toward the edge of the rooftop where none of the group has been as of yet.

Irakelesh |

Survival: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (16) + 0 = 16
Irakelesh looks where Aliva points. "Great job Khufu. And you too Aliva. Let's follow that guy. Maybe he'll give us back the compass part."

GM Dak |

Aliva easily points out the tracks and follows them down to a sink hole on the other side of the building. She also takes note that the tracks likely belong to a draconic creature based off the prints and stride.
Looking down into the sinkhole. It appears to drop some 50ft down in a large subterranean fissure. It looks like the underground area continues further to the north out of sight from what you can see from your current position.

Irakelesh |

Irakelesh runs a hand through his long hair and chuckles. "Well aren't we great adventurers? No rope." He starts looking around. "Maybe we can find some laying around."

GM Dak |

Going to bot Aliva
Aliva drops her pack and pulls out some rope, apparently the only rope among the entire group. With the one coil you could get down to the bottom, but there would be no way to knot it and it would require some climbing.
DC15 Climb check. If you want to have Nak't ferry people down we can do that, but as he noted if you need to make a quick escape you will need to climb.

Irakelesh |

"Well look at that. Aliva is prepared." Irakelesh finds a good spot to tie it off. "It's not perfect but it's the best we've got. Let's get to it."
Irakelesh wraps his legs around the rope and begins to climb down into the darkness.
Climb: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20

Ai'sha |

"I don't know how I forgot to bring rope too.", Ai'sha sighs. "But I'm really bad with climbing, I would prefer if you could fly me down, Nak'T."
Ai'sha will use inspire competence (+2) to help anyone who attempts to climb down the rope..

GM Dak |

1d20 + 14 ⇒ (7) + 14 = 21
Between the rope, at least now as an option to escape, and Nak't the group manages to get down into the sinkhole below. You all quickly see that about 200 ft to the north there appears to be some sort of nest, but not anything you have ever seen before. It is comprised of fine silken cloth, hundreds of coins and other various shiny and expensive looking items. On top sleeps a brilliantly colored dragon that has scales, teeth, and claws made of multicolored crystal, and its wings appear to be sheets of flexible glass. It is approximately the size of a man.

K.Arcana: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
"...That's a crystal dragon, in theory, they're not evil but get offended very easily, then they do evil things because they're angry."

Irakelesh |

Knowledge(arcana),inspiration: 1d20 + 9 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + 9 + (4) = 14
"Ai'sha, really? I've never heard of such a thing. Are you sure?" Irakelesh stares at the sleeping dragon.

Khufukhaf |

knowledge(arcana): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
"I believe she is correct. It seems remarkable that it would lair this close to people, but it could have slept here for quite some time."
"It has likely taken the crystal from above to be part of its treasure hoard. Convincing it to relinquish it, even in a good cause, could prove difficult."

Irakelesh |

"What if we offer it a trade? Can we give it a bigger and shinier gem? Actually, that pile looks pretty big. How will we find the one we want in that pile?"

Khufukhaf |

"I think it should be wrapped in copper wire."
"Maybe our new friend can speak with the dragon and work something out. Providing his draconic is some ancient version that modern dragons don't understand."

Nak'T Akh |

Nak’T sees the creature and looks to the others. ”I can try and see if I can build an understanding with it. If I don’t, it would be best if I were the closest target anyway.”
He then flies forward towards it and stops an appropriately respectful distance away and takes up a kneeling position.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21

Irakelesh |

Irakelesh stays back with the others. "Yeah, I know. This will be perfect." He doesn't seem to notice the sarcasm in Khufu's comment. "I'm so glad that we found Nak'T. This worked out perfectly, right? One dragon, or I guess dragon-like, creature talking to the other. I couldn't have planned it better."
Irakelesh cocks his ear to hear what Nak'T says to the dragon and then translates it for his companions.
"See? He sounds great, right?"
Does anyone else speak Draconic?

GM Dak |

As Nak't announces himself the dragon stirs, and blinks sleepily for a moment before its eyes adjust and takes in Nak't and the rest of the group behind him at a short distance. It glares for a moment but at least at first appearance doesn't seem to be directly hostile, but not directly friendly either as it replies. "நீங்களும் இங்குள்ள உங்கள் நண்பர்களும் ஏன் எனக்கு அரை இனத்தைத் தொந்தரவு செய்கிறீர்கள்?"

Khufukhaf |

"Anybody understand what he said?" Khufu asks as he contemplate how fast he would have to run to beat the others back to the rope.

Irakelesh |

"Yeah, it's going great. He -- I'm guessing he's a he, but you really can't tell with dragons you know. I mean, unless they let you get real close to, uh, well, certain areas. But usually people don't do that, of course. As I said, it's going great. The dragon there just was saying hi and want's to know why we're here. He said we're friends. Or that might have been friends with Nak't, not the dragon. He also recognized that Nak't is half dragon. That's got to be good."

Nak'T Akh |

Khufukhaf |

Khufu nods back at Irakelesh.
"Well that sounds good. I'm sure the dragon is going to want to be reasonable after Nak'T Akh explains everything."

Irakelesh |

Irakalesh nods silently as Nak'T continues to talk to the dragon. When Nak'T finishes speaking to the dragon Irakelesh quickly and quietly summarize to the rest of the group.
"He told him that we're searching for something that we need to stop the undead. He reminded the dragon that having all those undead around would likely be a big annoyance so it's best if we can stop them."
If Nak'T turns back to see the others, Irakelesh waves and smiles and mouths to him "It's going great!"
