HA! I just read the spoiler for the chest and room contents. Let me think a bit. Just got off 2nd shift. bed now. Oh BTW, Hippa picked up infernal. She'll be puzzling out those cryptic notes.
Also, put a skill into craft alchemy. Perhaps her and Audi could start crafting some useful items if money is pooled for alchemy kit.

I will speak with my friend tonight, Mini, and see if he is still interested. If he is I will have him send you a PM with the character.
Sorry I missed the boon. Whenever we go to visit family in Pennsylvania, it is non-stop cluster-f+$~ that has us exhausted by the time we make it back to Massachusetts. It's too bad my kid is so cute- everybody wants to see her.

all good :)
Magic is available. There is no such thing as a regular +x for a weapon. There are only the special abilities. (flaming shock, bane, etc.). There are also no stat boosting items, or Cloaks of resistance to be purchased.
There are wands and scrolls available but not in great numbers. You have access to 1 of any kind of level 1 wand, and access to 4 of any kind of level 1 scroll or potion.

Hmm... It might be helpful to have something to assist with killing the shadows. Do we know if they are undead or magical constructs? If so a bane weapon might be very helpful.

Ha! Going thru the rules for augmenting "GrandPappy's" spear, I just realized it was the Masterwork Heirloom boon from when we started. I've been missing out on a +1 to hit bonus all this time. [insert facepalm here]
Auði Jaw-Jacker |
Yeah, they hit the heirloom weapon concept pretty hard with that nerf. I understand it, but it also makes the idea of being able to create a story behind a weapon and improve it over time more difficult. Fortunately, there is still masterwork transformation to make that work. It just isn't quite the same.

On the subject of the abandoned temple...if we're playing Westcrown close to canon, this whole area is pretty abandoned and very dangerous. Its home to criminals, monsters (goblins, leucrotta, gargoyles, etc.), and all sorts of nasty people you really don't want to deal with. The area is called Rego Cader, the Dead Sector. At one time it was the poor sector of Westcrown, home to house slaves, servants, and lesser trades (like tanneries, smithies, etc.) that the nobles didn't want anywhere near them. In the period after Aroden died, Westcrown lost a lot of population. This was his city so the city took a big hit due to that, but also after the Chelish civil war, a lot of people packed up and headed to Egorian and other cities. The entire city basically gave up on this area, walled it off and left the rundottari (ruin wardens) to make sure things didn't get too out of hand. If we play it like that, this temple has probably been abandoned for at least 70 years. Unless Mini wants to introduce a complication about ownership, we're probably pretty clear on that front, but at a lot more risk of getting jumped by lowlifes or monsters.
Regarding the current hideout, its worth mentioning that even the settled areas of Westcrown have lots of abandoned structures. This is a proud and prosperous city that fell on very hard times. Maybe a bit like Detroit, except that Westcrown hasn't started knocking down the abandoned buildings. So our current hideout, which is one of many abandoned temples of Aroden is more at risk of discovery being located in an area with a lot more people, but there are lots of places like that in "safer" areas of Westcrown.
Now that said, its Mini's call and how much he wants us to play into crafting this Westcrown that dictate how some of this plays out. We could certainly say that in this Westcrown Rego Cader isn't so abandoned and this might make an excellent place for a business/hideout and maybe we really do need to worry about owners.
Anyway, sorry for the long post. Not sure how everyone's Westcrown lore is and thought it might be worth putting some of this out there since we've started discussions about what to do with the place and for me a lot of that depends on the version of Rego Cader that gets crafted here.

All of what audi said above is corrext.
In general since this is not a super fast game you can expect not to be jumped by thugs too much but there may be attacks on the base or robberies while away, just like Hellknights could show up at the other
Also I assume you return the goods so you receive 2 fame points hooray
Also boneyard Pyke just might be able to help.

Wow. Thanks for that. Now i have a much better picture and understanding. Also as i have worked in the "D" for the last nine years i totally get it it now. Hippa will shut up about owners and chasing down police reports.
As a side note, i can even get current pics of some good examples of these decrepit buildings, broken windows and overgrown vegetation. This includes abandoned city libraries and boarded up churches.
Auði Jaw-Jacker |
Didn't know you were in the "D" Hippa! My wife grew up in Birmingham and we lived in Lake Orion from 2001 to 2006. Her whole family is still scattered around the north burbs (Clarkston, Troy, Royal Oak and Bloomfield Hills) so we get back a couple times a year. We were supposed to go for Thanksgiving and do the Turkey Trot, but I was deathly ill so we stayed in Chicago. She and my younger son are headed back for a quick trip this weekend. I can't make it because of a trip to Racine tomorrow.
Hippa |
Chi-town? Seriously? I grew up in the 'burbs. Elgin, StCharles, Dundee, Aurora, Rockford... Have family there. Lets schedule a meet and greet so Mini can actually use his whiffle ball bat to express his displeasure of our RPG tactics.
Hippa |
Say...
Hippa picked up Infernal with the most recent level up. Would she be able to puzzle out those cryptic infernal notes any better now?
Hippa is likely to see about re-consecrating the church->tiefling hideout->Torch community outreach bldg.

Sorry for the delay. I had drafted a quite different response by Hippa but the PC crashed before I posted and MS Word Auto-Save didn't kick in. I raged at the loss of my genius and the missed opportunity to bask in your inevitable adulation of my skillful poetic verbosity.
After stewing over it for two days, what you got of version 2; typed with brevity, madness-tinted and tempered by frustration.
Brannock Galdarg |
Been kind of quiet here the last couple of days. Everyone still recovering from holiday?
Brannock Galdarg |
No problem. I thought it was prolly something like that.
Hippa |
What i find hilariously ironic is I am playing Hippa straight. No goof off, no hidden agenda, no attempts at jocularity. My other PCs couldve been cast as the clown. But noooooooooo, the one PC whose ego would be most adversely affected "wins" the role. Hippa is just as unhappy if not more so than the director.
You are killing me.
