On the Male Half-Orc's body you find, you find two potions, a mwk breastplate, a mwk Greataxe, a Sap, a sack, a gold necklace, 124 gp.

You remove anything of value from the unconscious female Half-Orc. She had a potion, two vials of alchemist’s fire, a thunderstone, a suit of mwk studded leather, a light crossbow with 10 bolts, a mwk warhammer and a cloak, 7 gp.

Haskyll identifies a potion of Cure Moderate Wounds, a potion of Bull's Strength, a Scabbard of Honing and a Shield Cloak.

SCABBARD OF HONING PRICE 500 GP AURA faint transmutation CL 3rd WEIGHT 1 lb.This leather scabbard resizes itself to fit any axe, sword, dagger, or similar item normally stored in a scabbard. Sheathing a nonmagical weapon in the scabbard for 1 minute hones its edge as if it had been sharpened with a whetstone (page 75).

WHETSTONE PRICE 2 CP WEIGHT 1 lb.A whetstone allows you to sharpen a blade by sliding it against the stone at a precise angle. Honing a blade with a whetstone requires about 15 minutes of work and grants the weapon a +1 bonus on your damage roll the first time you hit with it. This only works on nonmagical blades.

SHIELD CLOAK PRICE 1,000 GP AURA faint abjuration CL 4th WEIGHT 1 lb.The wearer of this rough, gray cloak can, as a move action, grasp the garment’s edge and cause it to harden. The wearer can use the hardened edge it as if it were a masterwork light wooden shield. Using the cloak in this fashion imposes no armor check penalty, but does impose a 5% arcane spell failure chance. The edge of the cloak can be dropped and made pliant again as a free action. Shield enhancement bonuses and special abilities can be added to the cloak as if it were a masterwork shield.

"Booth has its merits... but standing still will solve nothing

Please feel free to handle any last minute issues before heading to the Barricade.

As the party reaches the Barricade, you encounter a familiar face, Patrol Sergeant Omast Frum. He is very drunk, "About time you showed up, there be Orcs to be killing." His speech is heavily slurred.

Two barricades have been set up on the hill leading toward the western gate. The barricades are approximately 3 feet high and 5 feet wide.

Omast has gathered a glaive, a guisarme, a halberd, two longspears, and a ranseur. The weapons are standing upright in a barrel near the westernmost barricade.

A large boulder that came crashing into Trunau not long after the raid began sits in the middle of the hill between the two barricades. The boulder is nearly 10 feet across.

Two bundles of logs have been lashed to the western side of the westernmost barricade, one on each side of the road.

The easternmost barricade is equipped with sharpened and splintered wooden fences that Omast salvaged from the wreckage of nearby homes.

Beyond the gates is a horde of Orcs, readying to smash through the gates.

The party has a few rounds with Omast before the fun begins. Orcs at the Barricade map is up.

Earlier, Anga discovers the last potion is a Potion of Vanish.

While drunk, he essentially has the sickened condition.

Earlier at the Aid Station.

After Mordea tries on the Mwk Studded Leather Armor, "Hmmm. I thought it would smell of Orc. It smells like cheap perfume. I like cheap perfume. That is all I can afford."

When Mordea tries out the Cloak, she starts to make several maneuvers, crouching, blocking, attacking, etc., "It is like having a shield, but without having to hold on to a clumsy piece of wood. I don't see how you fighters can carry such a thing."

Later at the Barricade

"This fellow is no help," Mordea looks at Omast. "I will take the North Flank," she readies her Crossbow.

To start this, please position your tokens on the map. Beginning now you will have three rounds of actions to deal with Omast, or leave him in his drunken stupor and prepare for the onslaught. Afterwards, we will begin Round One.

Seeing that no one has the far left position, Omast hurries to that point.

Round -1

As the Orcs fan out toward the party, Omast yells out, "Cut the straps!"

It is a Full Round Action for Two People to free one set of logs. According to the map, Mordea and Haskyll are in a position to release the Right set of logs. Anga and Omast can free the Left set of logs. Each set will catch three Orcs in the process. Again this is a Full Round Action. Omast and Mordea will use their Round One actions for this purpose. Do Anga and Haskyll do likewise?

Round Two

When Omast sees the second wave approach, he yells, "Get behind the barricades."

The front set of barricades have sharpened stakes on them, so it unlikely Kaos or Ulfgard would have been in front of them. I will move their tokens behind the barricade.

As an aside, with all the activity that has transpired, there is still one beacon, the Hopespring Beacon, that has not been lit. The AP was written to not give the party a break. That was too much, particularly for spellcasters reaching third level. So, I gave the party a rest before the Orcs at the Barricade sequence.

Oh. Aye, roll it and I'll light it. Make sure ye don't get burnt.

Anga readies a spell to ignite the boulder, once it's moving.

OK, slightly complicated readied action, Mazra. Anga wants to ignite the boulder, after Kaos has it moving, and without frying her compatriots, and if possible hit any nearby orcs with it as well. The last bit is if she can. So the action is to step behind the boulder as it passes (ten foot move) to the X I marked, then ignite the burning hands, hitting the boulder and the orcs as well.

burning hands damage when applicable: 3d4 + 1 ⇒ (1, 1, 2) + 1 = 5 DC 16 reflex to halve damage to orc one and two, plus boulder.

Round Two actions

This is a bit complicated, so stay with it.

Kaos begins to roll the boulder at the approaching Orcs.

Move action to get there, then another move action to get the boulder rolling.

As Ulfgard drops the last Orc of the first wave, the second wave of Orcs attack. Three of the Orcs rush toward the center, while two split off taking cover behind the pile of logs that came to a rest at the towers on either side of the road.

Ulfgard's actions were at the end of Round One.

The Orcs taking cover have grenades in their hands and they toss them over the barricades.

The first one targets the square between the ugly Dwarf and even uglier human, in this case it would be between Haskyll and Mordea.

Orc One's Unerring Grenade: 2d6 + 1d6 ⇒ (6, 1) + (6) = 13

With this grenade, Haskyll, Mordea and Ulfgard must make a DC 15 Reflex save or take the damage noted, otherwise you take half the damage, rounded down if applicable.

The second one targets another ugly Dwarf, in this case, it would be Ragnir.

Orc Two's Unerring Grenade: 2d6 + 1d6 ⇒ (1, 5) + (5) = 11

This grenade effects Anga and Ragnir, again each must make a DC 15 Reflex save or take the damage noted, otherwise you take half the damage, rounded down if applicable.

These grenades are as the name implies, unerring. They have magical properties that doesn't require the thrower to make a Range Touch attack. By the way, Orc opinions are not that of the GMs. ;)

Ragnir actually has an action before Anga, but not before the Orcs. But you will get the benefit to see the results of Kaos and Anga's manoeuvre.

As the boulder passes, Anga moves behind it and spews forth flames from her hand.

Orc Warrior 1 Reflex Save: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (13) + 0 = 13
Orc Warrior 2 Reflex Save: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (2) + 0 = 2

The boulder, now on fire, crashes and burns through the barricade and rolls toward the three charging Orcs. Stupid Orcs!

Boulder Attack on Orc 1: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 173d6 + 1d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 3) + (4) = 10
Boulder Attack on Orc 2: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 113d6 + 1d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 5) + (1) = 12
Boulder Attack on Orc 3: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 283d6 + 1d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 6) + (3) = 21

With Anga's Burning Hands and the passing boulder the first Orc Warrior falls unconscious from the damage.

The second Orc Warrior took the full brunt of Anga's Burning Hands, but boulder missed this Orc as it passed down the hill toward the gates. Ragnir, here is one for you. The Orc is over five feet away. But, if you wait to take your action, there will be a ten-foot wide gap in the barricade as the boulder crushes through it.

The third Orc is crushed to death as the boulder just flattens the dumb butt. This Orc is currently on fire.

Ragnir, Mordea, Haskyll, Ulfgard and Omast still have Round Two actions.

Kaos 14 up first then,
Orcs 14
Ragnir 13
Anga 12
Mordea 10
Haskyll 5
Ulfgard 3

Round Three

Kaos can take a Round Three action before the Orcs react again.

Whew!

Mordea makes a quick move to avoid some of the effects from the Grenade.

Mordea takes 6 points of damage. 22/32

"How does stupid Orcs get grenades," Mordea takes a step up, aims her light Crossbow and attacks the right Orc behind the barricade. The bolt finds its target. Mordea gives a fist pump.

"Good job people!" Omast takes out his Heavy Crossbow, releasing the catch holding the bolt in place as he does. He then takes aim and fires at the second Orc taking cover behind the logs. The bolt sticks into the log. "Get up here you monkey faces, so I can hit you properly," the Sergeant is not very good with range weapons.

Pig faces, monkey faces, it has always amazed me at the different take on Orcs. I am first edition though, I actually prefer the pig faced Orcs.
