Is that going to cause an issue with anyone, or would it be easier to use Google docs for the group? We would rather you use the Google docs as it keeps everything all in one place. You may add files in as you need.
I sent you a PM with a question.
I've sent you a response. I do run Google Drive myself, but I've noticed how a certain fruit-based product doesn't like to play very well with others. LOL

I'm sorry... I must have misunderstood something...I think you tried to over complicate that. domain spell slots are granted based on the level of cleric spells that can be cast.
Thus you get your domain spell slot when taking a PrC, or in this case having a stacked racial casting.
Spells - combined
channeling - cleric class only
domain powers - cleric class only
domain spells - cleric class only
I thought that meant my domains spells would somehow be limited by actual cleric class levels... am I correct in understanding, now, that my domain spells will function normally for someone of my caster level?
I've started on my google doc, but there's not enough to be worth posting yet (more hemming and hawing than typing so far)- I'll have something up soonish.ps- was F'nord one of the dragonriders of pern?

Areniel's character sheet is started... there isn't much mechanical stuff up there (at all) right now, but there's some background stuff that I'd really like feedback on (please). And I'll be posting more mechanics as quickly/often as I'm able.

DM Fnord |
I dropped a sheet in there that has some preloaded shortcuts, I'll keep adding to it.
One thing that is helpful is to design the sheet kind of like a monster stat block.
Defense
Offense
Abilities / Skills
Class / Race special info
background and history at the bottom
Hmm, while outsiders have an unknown age profile, I'd be a little concerned about your character potentially having an unlimited historical background, unless you plan on spending a lot on maximizing know:history. Are you planing to have that past time as an unknown/lost memories?
The history itself doesn't appear to present any issues.
Anyone else that wants to base their background around the worldwound should work with you to mesh your collective backgrounds.

nate lange RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32 |

My thought on age/history was that until his background starts counting years he was exclusively on the outer planes (where they don't really even track the passage of time)- any concept of his age during that time would have been basically meaningless, and any 'history' he knew would have just been the endless war between good and evil... Time as we know it is only really experienced in the mortal realms so any concept of age or history that he does have would have developed since arriving in Golarion. of course all that is subject to change if you want it to function differently, or prefer a different flavor
Also, at this point the mechanics that are up on his character sheet are mostly really notes to myself for building the real character sheet.

DM Fnord |
Realistically speaking, any particular person of power would have considerably more than one hanger-on (cohort). You need not restrict yourself to just one.
Out of curiosity, why? It's not like you shouldn't have many methods of subterfuge at your beck and call already.
Not to mention that any cohort one of us has is already going to be a power-house on their own.

nate lange RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32 |

Well, Areniel is concerned that if a Demon Lord (or Devil Prince) discovered that an Archon is gaining so much power they might show up to do something about it (you know- to try to put an end to it before I become a serious threat to them)... he saw first hand the incredible destruction Abraxas wrought when they met him in the Abyss and he's trying to spare Golarion from that devastation- that's why he tries to keep a low profile. Pretending to be someone's cohort would give him a valid reason to be with the group but (hopefully) prevent him from attracting too much attention...

For me it was too productive; my wife and I had to do a fundraiser for her organization yesterday, and we didn't get home until late. Despite that, I've created a basic character sheet that is set to open sharing and comments (I don't have anyone's email address, and Google Drive functions are more limited on the iPad), that I will be working on over the next couple of days.

Tell you what, make the file you need using onedrive in word and save it to the Google drive folder. OpenOffice can view them easily, and you can make your character easier. You should have the permission to upload. Sound like a fair trade?

Well, to be fair, GMV, since I posted that this morning, I got a lot of the issues worked out overall. The only thing now that i can't do on the iPad is to create a hyperlink. That being said, I cannot do it on OneNote for iOS either. I can, however, set it all up when I am on my desktop. I'm hoping to have a rough draft done tomorrow or Wednesday.

So, was that a 'no' on anyone being interested/willing to have Areniel playing the part of their cohort?
I've been making some progress on Areniel's character sheet, too... It's not finished at all yet but please feel free to comment on it.
I'll be honest, Nate. I have been thinking about it; I think that I could make it fit. Perhaps at the first battle of Drezen? That being said, I'm running behind on building my character, and while I have it my head, I don't have it on paper...yet.

I've had a busy week (err two days :P) and at first it didn't look like Tengil would meet your standard (he would already have a cohort). Then I simply didn't take much time to consider it (have this afternoon off, so counting on some progress there!). Since Fnord (I think it was) is right - powerful people have plenty of hang-arounds - and I was already planning on picking up an archon as a cohort, so you would certainly fit in that crowd.
But do consider - pretending to be the cohort of a hellknight requires a certain philosophy and pragmatism in dealing with the lower end of the lawful axis. Might not be for everyone. Otherwise I'm up for writing you in there somewhere :)

nate lange RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32 |

@lessah- My prestige class requires that I maintain the same code as a paladin, so I'm not sure the hell knight thing is necessarily the way to go (I know there are pally/hell knights but since I'm already trying to hide my identity I'd prefer, if possible, not to make the ruse more complicated than necessary). Also, part of hiding my identity will be that I'm disguising myself as an aasimar so you wouldn't get impact of having an archon cohort. Thanks though.
@ace and manticore- thanks. I don't think it needs to be a full-time partnership, unless you really want it to be. Since they've granted me ascension, I assume the custodians will know the truth (including the other PCs), and I have my own jurisdiction... So we'd either need overlapping territories or to develop a relationship/arrangement where I'm mostly with you when we're on official business but on my own poking around the worldwound the rest of the time.

DM Fnord |
In case it wasn't obvious or clearly indicated, each PC should have a strong tie to this Golarion. It is their home, they are a protector of the innocent, etc, so on, and so forth.
That was one of the reasons I suggested using an AP as a basis for a background. They generally give a good reason for sticking around.
Two people in the same region is absolutely fine, they can work their backgrounds together.
On that note, at this level, this game will not stay on this Golarion. The ascension scene clearly indicated a threat that encompassed more worlds than just Golarion.
You are protecting your world, and sometimes that requires traveling to another one. Has your character traveled to other planes, or worlds? Nate's is pretty obvious.
Today is Wednesday, I'd like to see the backgrounds mostly fleshed out and the race, classes and feats up by Monday.

Peter Stewart |

Working sheet here. Currently trying to figure out if there's a template that would work well, or if I'd be better off staying pureblood in a class.
Also still considering the possibility of switching gears or working another concept on the side. I feel like I'm still struggling a little bit for an identity here. If so, I'll edit this post with a second sheet. Might go for someone more innately heroic.
Fnord, should I take your post as indicative of you being willing to entertain travelers from other worlds here? I have a few concepts that work best as originating somewhere else and settling down in Golarion (either other Primes or planar escapades).

Lessah |

@Fnord: ties - yes, I am working on weaving those into the core morale of Tengil.
monday - That is plenty of time. I should have it mostly done by then!
other worlds - Given that is well within his power, Tengil would certainly have visited those planes he had a desire or reason too. Which would mainly include the lawfully aligned ones where he most certainly has had business. This would also include most of the planes that are described as mercantile and open to outsiders (such as the Plane of Fire -> City of Brass). Probably a brief visit to the more friendly good-aligned ones too.
Both Akiton and Castovel would be worlds that Tengil has visited with some frequency. The first contain the Contemplatives, a great source of lore, and busy bazaars. The second contain the elvish "homeland" of Sovyrain.
@nate - I can understand and sympathize with that ^^

nate lange RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32 |

my race/class is set, my feats are pretty set too (there's just one i'm unsure of)... for background, i like the skeleton i have posted as long as there's nothing about it you want changed? i never heard back from you (DM) about what impact the thing you mentioned in your PM might have on what i've written so far? also, i'm not entirely sure how much detail you want for our backgrounds... some of mine was intentionally vague so that you could use specifics for hooks or so that they could be filled in more collaboratively... do you want me to make up some of the NPCs that would have been involved? do you want me to make up specific battles and other details? do you have a specific idea of what from WotR you'll set in the past and what may be yet to come? (if you can say something like, 'books 1-[whatever #] happened in [year]' then i can just only familiarize myself with those books and work them into my background).

DM Fnord |
Sorry Nate, I've been thinking of how I want to use it.
As for backgrounds, I have personally mined the wiki, campaign setting, etc for information. I've also woven in Validk's background into what is cannon.
The idea is, if you are going to use something (for instance) like the fall of the Azlanti, go right ahead. Have fun.
BUT
Weave your story around cannon events, people, places. You are not a Rune Lord that was caught up in the end of the Thassilonian empire, but you were a friend, personal retainer, advisor, bodyguard, favored concubine, etc.
If you are using Curse of the Crimson Throne, you can be one of the heroes that saved the city and overthrew Queen Ileosa, but don't be Neolandus Kalepopolis. You could be a relative of Neo. You could be a magistrate (there are 23) just don't be the one that is named someplace.
In other words, if someone read your history, and they read the book/wiki, they couldn't point to something and say "wrong."
For instance, the books state that Aroden founded Absalom. There is no mention of the many advisers, architects, etc that were employed in that endeavor. So I wrote Validk as being a personal friend of Aroden at the time of Absalom's founding, of course that was when he was much younger, and less powerful.
I'd asked that you restrict yourself from the Wrath of Righteous AP. Feel free to use events and the history prior to the AP. Since the AP was designed for mythic characters up to 20th level, it will be easier for me to modify it for epic play in the future.

DM Fnord |
I have also updated a file labeled "History and Timeline of Golarion"
I'll get your area's plugged in once you have them settled down.
I'd like to reserve the later AP's as they are newer, less likely to be well known, and probably easier to upgrade for epic encounters. This also sets the timeline someplace around early 4712.
That doesn't mean I don't want anyone using the area of one of these AP's as their base, far from it, having something blow up in your hometown will be quite convenient for me. We can certainly work out any details.

nate lange RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32 |

Yeah- I was mining ISWG and some wikis for what I have in my background so far... I can add some more details with place names and some invented NPCs, but I've already mentioned the few NPCs I've seen named in those sources and (without getting into WotR stuff) I'm not sure how much more there will be.
Of course, part of that too is that I'm going for a very different background- I've only been on/aware of Golarion for a relatively short time, I've spent the great majority of that time dealing with one particular issue (which, unbeknownst to everyone else, would have been much worse otherwise), and I'm actively trying to maintain a low profile...
I am, of course, open to suggestions too if anyone knows of any 'fun' worldwound events I could incorporate?

Lessah |

---NPCs I have engaged in my story---
I have written in Daidian Ruel, the founder of the hellknights, in Tengils backstory. He is going to be an acquaintance at most, with Tengil being one of the unnamed dozen to help him during the White Plague as a favour to Daidans made-up father Saymin Ruel.
That would make Tengil among those knighted by King Gaspodar and thus a part of the original Hellknights. Tengil would not make the split from the main fold until around the end of the Chelaxian civil war. It is very likely that he atleast met all those whom sat on the Chelaxian throne between then and now.
I have yet to establish any significant connection to any NPC in the Worldwound, but I have established a link between him and the Wardstones. As far as I could find the creator of the Wardstones is unnamned (only that the first was erected under the guidance of the Hand of the Inheritor) so I was kindof hoping to steal that credit*. It felt like a suitable epic feat of abjuration and planar sealing : )
*Do note, it is unlikely Tengil worked alone on this one.

![]() |
Lessah, I'm not sure if you want the mechanics for this, but your concept reminded me of this prestige class. Seems like Riftwarden would be perfect for someone trying to protect the Material plane from Outsiders.
I'm playing one now as a cohort for my Paladin PC.

Peter Stewart |

I am working on my concept's background he is mainly located in the area around the isle of terrors, Druma and the five kings mountains.
I'd actually planned on a base of operations on the Isle of Terror, but that just encourages me to dig around a bit for another concept that might fit better. I feel like I'm stretching rather far with my current one.

Lord Manticore here...
I've posted my character page link to this avatar. I've gotten the race, class, and feat stuff up, and you have seen at least the first part of my background. For the record, I'm going to write her up so that she is 'elsewhere' when WotR AP starts: she'll still be crusading, however, she won't be anywhere near Kenabres, unless the campaign calls for it. I still need to flesh out her spells, magic items, and gear (plus the requisite calculations), but the basics are up, and I should have the rest fleshed out before Monday.
As always, comments on the character sheet are welcomed.

Initial thoughts off the cuff (keeping in mind the sheet is unfinished)...
14 Constitution is a deal breaker at this level. Your hit points will be meager, as will your Fortitude save (very important).

Yea, 14 Con is kinda stretching it in my opinion. And that is with a manual +2 (so far). My plan is to get a couple of magic items with Con modifiers to bring her up into the low 20's. That alone will give me 75-100+ additional hp. I tend to be fairly conservative with my budgets (I'm an accountant IRL), so I think that I'll have enough gp left over to bump up my Con another 2-3 points, via the manual.

Lessah |

I was thinking of getting that line, since I would have to pay a feat anyhow to get an familiar (extra exploit). But alas, all my feats are gone :P
---
On a vaguely similar topic - how do we run the Archmage path ability Wild Arcana?
As written, it is vastly superior to the other two. But it has been suggested it should be a Standard Action in line with the Heirophant path ability.

Lessah |

Anyone which qualifies. Which means Skill Focus (X) and Cha Y, where X depends on bloodline and Y depends on how far you want to go in the tree (13 for the first, which is all that is needed for the Mythic version that quite frankly makes the other in the line redundant).
Unless there are extra campaign specific rules and conventions in place : )

fnord72 |
@Lessah I went back and looked at the EH tree and that mundane set of feats is definitely designed to be progressive. However, the wording on the mythic EH seems to be pretty clear that it is allowing one to skip over the second two feats, IEH and GEH. Considering that a mythic feat is supposed to be pretty powerful, I'm okay with it. It is still a three feat investment. If it seems unbalancing for a particular build, we can look at that as a separate issue.
Regarding Wild Arcana, I'm fine with using the standard action as noted in the proposed errata box at d20pfsrd.

Any thoughts on Guilds, Schools, and such from Inner Sea Magic?
Also, I'm substituting a new character here

DM Fnord |
I'll have to look at ISM, any in particular?
Character sheet is looking good, but move the history to the end.
Keep in mind that MT does not give spells known to the wizard, you'll have to buy scrolls at full price to write them into your spell book. And, you will want to carefully consider when you took the extra wizard levels because of this, and should probably note someplace how many free spells, of what wizard levels, you do have.

Full scroll costs, or rules for copying out of spellbooks per magic? I'm fine with either, just wanted to clarify.
You note crafting is available - does that mean I can make use of crafting before the game starts?
I was looking most obviously at eclectic training (and esoteric training, though that is probably pushing it).
