Treshiell moves closer but her hex seems to have little effect on the man, who just ducks under Kereek's blast. He made his save so is only affected for 1 round, but Kereek missed anyway.
Prazil and Spike are far more effective as they slam into the massive lion, which scream in pain and drops Orin's limp body. It lashes into Spike, clawing and biting the young dinosaur, which lets out its own cry of pain as its massive foe latches on. 32 hp; grappled
With the ranger and his pet still down, Agnar channels again, flooding the area with healing energy, enough to just wake Orin up, though his pet remains unconscious underfoot.
You shall pay for your treachery!" Jon declares, striding forward and swinging his sword in a massive arc that bisects the man's chest, dropping him to the ground like a sack of grain.

Orin Ro |

Actually I counted Agnar's Channel into my total HP's before the hermit dropped me. Either way I'm stable at -2 hit points.

Prazil |

Shoot, that lion is amazing! +18 to grapple? yowza! Also, that drops Spike into the negatives, but Agnar stabilizes him. I didn't notice yawning Cringer there turn into Battlecat, but I'm pretty it sure it happened!
"SPIKE! No! You am not going to like what am happen now, sparkle-cat! Prazil am avenge Spike!" Tears falling freely from his eyes, Prazil tumbles free from the saddle (auto-succeed at the ride check) and stabs his lance violently at the lion.

Kereek sees the man go down, then against all odds the lion took down Prazil's dinosaur. Kereek stared openly, the moved to about 10 feet from the lion. "Bad cat go to sleep now!"
Casting color spray on the cat, not worrying about not getting spike in the effect, since he's already out. DC 14 will save.

Prazil stabs the lion with his lance, drawing a yowl of pain, which is cut off as Kereek's spell hits the creature full in the face. It blinks furiously, stunned by the bright display.
As Agnar channels healing power again, Jon and Orin lay into the big cat, knocking it to the ground where it tries to get up for a moment before collapsing into unconsciousness and bleeding badly.

Orin Ro |

Listening to Prazil's suggestion, Orin goes over to his saddlebags and removes his skinning knives. Kneeling next to the carcass he begins removing the big cat's pelt.
Craft (leatherworking): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Satisfied with his handiwork, Orin looks over the skin and thinks to himself "Maybe we could get Agnar to mend all the other holes?"

Treshiell |

Treshiell takes a deep breath and seems to gather herself. Then she calmly strides forward to the downed hermit. She turns the man on his back with her foot and takes a seat on his chest. The young girl cradles his head in her hands and reaches down to enclose his mouth with hers. With a wretching motion she spews forward a swarm of spiders directly down the man's throat. Treshiell holds the man's mouth closed trapping the spiders inside as they wreak havoc on his innards. She keeps her hold until the body stops twitching, then she lowers the head gently to the ground and stands up.
"I did like the cat", she says and a spider scitters across her forehead and into her hair.
Treshiell approaches Orin when he's done skinning the cat. "The ward is gone", she says and repeats the ritual to bestow the ward to the ranger once again. "More wounds and more scars. You should be more careful."

Kereek! |

Kereek shivers as Treshiell vomits her spiders into the man. He edges away from the bodies as everyone butchers and heals. Standing as far away as he can and still include the cat and body in the spell, he casts detect magic, then asks "Where did crazy bad bad man and dead cat-rug live?"

Orin Ro |

Orin shudders at the destruction brought upon the man then quickly shakes his head to clear the thoughts as Treshiell approaches him. Once she has completed the ritual he stares deep into her eyes and responds "I wish I could, but someone has to stand between the good and the bad in the world."
Eager to be getting back on the road Orin looks at the kobold sorcerer "Let's find out, shall we?" Rolling up the pelt, he secures it to his saddle before scanning the area for tracks.
Survival (track): 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 8 + 2 = 17

Prazil |

Prazil misses Treshiell's horrible and horrifying (seriously... gross! ew ew ew!) display as he hugs, pets, feeds, and otherwise dotes on Spike.
"Spike! Good job, Spike! You am run right at big, nasty cat like big hero. Me am proud of you. Prazil think he am also need get you better armor though. We am do that back in Thronehold."
Spike's HP after all Agnar's channels: 10/28
Once Prazil is satified that Spike is ok, the little grey-scaled kobold approaches Orin as the ranger looks about for tracks. He comes upon Orin kneeling down to examine a patch of churned up earth and pokes him in the shoulder. "Prazil am very glad you am ok, Orin." He then hugs the ranger. "You am good big hero."
He then leaves the ranger to his work and walks over to stand with Kereek as his clutchmate examines the tree. As Kereek tries to concentrate, Prazil inadvertantly keeps interrupting with questions.

Sure, I don't see why not.
As you look around, you discover a chest sitting in a hole under his bed of leaves. The chest contains two potion bottles, 164 sp, 31 gp, and a tarnished silver locket holding a faded portrait of a young woman wrapped in a piece of cloth. The cloth itself appears to be a faded map of some sort.

Orin Ro |

Everyone gets 27 SP's and 5 GP's. I've updated the <Loot List> with this stuff and the remaining silver and gold. Is there anything of worth or note on the hermit or cat that I'll need to add?
Orin will look over the map, trying to see if he can place where it is.
Knowledge (geography): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23

motteditor RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16 |

Whoops, yes!
The hermit's leather armor, as well as a whip and ring he has on him radiate magic. He also has a nice short sword. The cat has nothing on it, not even its pelt any more.
A few minutes spent deciphering the scrawls and faded shapes on the map are enough to recognize that it seems to point the way to a hidden burial cairn somewhere in the Kamelands between the Gudrin and Shrike rivers, due east of the northern shores of the Tuskwater. A potent weapon is said to be hidden within this tomb, although the map vaguely warns of traps and an undead guardian who stole out of the tomb to reclaim the magic weapon once before.

Treshiell |

Prazil misses Treshiell's horrible and horrifying (seriously... gross! ew ew ew!) display as he hugs, pets, feeds, and otherwise dotes on Spike.
Yep. You don't screw around with Treshiell :)
Orin shudders at the destruction brought upon the man then quickly shakes his head to clear the thoughts as Treshiell approaches him. Once she has completed the ritual he stares deep into her eyes and responds "I wish I could, but someone has to stand between the good and the bad in the world."
"You could try evading some. Not everything has good aim", Treshiell responds and moves to gather the hermit's magical trinkets. She takes a seat among the gore on the ground and starts studying the items.
Take 10 for a total of 10 + 11 = 21 Spellcraft to identify the items.
"Who is she?" the witch murmurs when the men starts talking about portrait. "Is she pretty?"

Treshiell |

Treshiell fixes Kereek with her gaze. "Thank you. I am sure that Kereek is pretty for a kobold." Her gaze deepens. "I don't eat spiders. The spiders ate him", she says and points to the still body of the hermit.
Treshiell was going to give the ring to Prazil, him being a front row fighter and all, but she wouldn't have any objections if Kereek took it.

Orin Ro |

Orin will take the two potion bottles from the chest over to where Treshiell is seated "Can you take a look at these as well, when you have a chance."
He will then take the locket from Kereek, turning it over and over in his hand before handing it back "Guess she's pretty enough."
Appraise check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

Prazil |

Prazil does NOT have a ring of protection yet and will gladly accept this gift of stay-alive-longer-edness!
LOL @ Kereek's name for Treshiell
"One am for me? Oooooo!" Prazil looks at the items splayed out before Treshiell. He looks at the sword, and shakes his head. "No, hammer and lance am better. This am too big." He looks at the whip, gives it a test crack, and winds up in a tangled mess, requiring several people to help extricate him. "Ah! Ah! Am trap! Nasty trap rope that bites! Save Prazil!" He then tries on the leather armor, but he's able to curl up inside it entirely. His voice echoes from within, "Prazil think this am too big too. Though maybe good for hiding in!"
At the last, he picks up the ring, sniffs it, then slips it on one of his scaled fingers. "Prazil am take this one if that ok. It am not bite Prazil like nasty trap rope, right?"

Agnar Hrolfson |

"Speaking of soothing aches, Prazil's beasty is looking a bit worse for wear. Anyone else want some patching up while I'm at it?"
I'm saving my last channel for emergencies, so I'll dole out spells for whomever is still feeling a bit rough.
Converting sound burst to cure moderate wounds: 2d8 + 4 ⇒ (4, 2) + 4 = 10 hp for Spike.
And someone really needs to remind me I've got Fang around. I don't usually play PCs with animal companions, so I keep spacing it. A good trip on that crazy hermit would have been nice.

Treshiell |

Treshiell preforms her ritual to drag some of the wounds out of the wounded then she slides up next to Agnar, eyeing the map in his hands. "Undead guardian. I think I would like to meet it."
Healing hex on Spike: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Healing hex on Orin: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Healing hex on Shi'Ra: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Kereek! |

From his perch on the wagon, Kereek leans toward the others to hear a snatch of the conversation. "Agnar find undead guardian? We go find undead guardian now? Not undead spider, right? Right?!?" Kereek shudders as he realizes he now has a boogeyman worse than a mere giant spider.
Suddenly noticing the odd looks Orin is shooting toward Treshiell right after she touched him, Kereek nods to himself. 'Orin creeped out by spider-vomit, too. Smart Orin.'
