@Deiros, Thank you for submitting the background!

@Tark, just budget for your followers, we'll flesh them out later as they gain experience.

Wealth Accountability:

For me:
Valiant Cold +2 Katana +32,350
Flaming Burst +1 Katana +18,350
MW Composite Longbow (+7) +1,100
MW Lance +310
Champion's Hosteling +2 Full Plate +18,000
+1 Buckler +1,005
Champion's Banner +8,000
+4 Belt of Giant Strength +16,000
+2 Cloak of Resistance +4000
Cracked Dusty Rose Prism Ioun Stone +500

Bag of Holding I +2,500

+1,000 for misc. gear. I figure that if I pay this much, I'll have whatever reasonable item I might be expected to have when I need it in my bag of holding, subject to GM approval at time of use. I'll devote 75 lbs to holding this stuff. Does that sound reasonable? I'd be willing to add more weight/more gold if you want, or just go through and pick stuff I need, I'll adjust my spending appropriately.

Animal Companion:
+2 Mithril Shirt +4,700

=107,815 gp spent so far

Follower equipment:

Leadership score:
Cohort: 12 (LVL)+2(CHA)-2 (AniComp) = 12
Followers: 12(LVL)+2(CHA) = 14
LVL 8 Cohort, 15 1st level followers, and 1 2nd level follower.

The cohort:
1 +1 Lucky Revolver +8,700
1 +1 Lucky Pepperbox Rifle +10,000
1 Far-reaching sight +4,000
5 Oil of Silence +1,250
MW Short Sword +310
Mithril Shirt +1,350

=133,425 gp spent so far

Everything else:
16 Revolvers +6,400
4 Pepperbox Rifles +3,500
4 Double-barreled Shotguns +3,500
2 Double Hackbuts +1,200
16 Shortswords +160
16 MW Studded Leather Armor +2800
17 bucklers +85
17 Battle Trained Light Horses +1870
*17 Military Saddles +
2 Heavy Horses +400
*1 cart +15
17 pouches of 100 metal cartridges +2550
1 Bag of Holding I +2,500
+1,500 gp for misc. equipment they'd need. Same proposal as above, let me know if you don't like it, although this time, there's two heavy horses and a cart for stuff that wouldn't fit in the bag of holding. Do you think that is adequate?

=160,310 gp spent so far

162,000 gp
-160,310 gp
____________
= 1,675 go remaining
I really cut it close :)
Going over it afterwards, I'm going to get 1 potion of CSW and 2 potions of Shield of Faith (+2) for myself for 750 + 100 gp = 850 gp, and 15 potions of CLW for the followers for 750 gp. I will keep the remaining 75 gp for pocket change.

Will the cohort be starting out at the maximum level for our leadership score? I bought it equipment as if it was (mostly), but I've had this post in the making for the last few hours as I slowly worked away at it, and missed you giving your most recent piece of news about cohorts :P Well, even if the cohort is below level 8, it'll still have some pretty neat stuff.

My character is currently being assembled in MythWeavers right now, and will most definitely probably be assembled before midnight tomorrow.

Done.

I'll have the follower budget and background up later today.

I think I have a fair idea f the direction I want to take this particular command. Loads of fire power and range.

If you would like me to flesh out my character's backstory more, I'd love to know more about what the game's world is like so that I can finish it for you!

Also, done up my character in Mythweavers here for you!

Also, redid my budgeting here. Still going to be supplying a lot for my men and/or women, but as we get more followers, undoubtedly we'll be using the supply system for more.

Backstory attempt here!

Spoiler:
Kan Mahreena is seen as the Demigoddess of War and Nature amongst the barbaric peoples of the forests and hills. This woman has cropped up again and again amongst her people to lead them in times of strife, and in conquest. Though she takes many mortal forms, her true self can always be seen on the battlefield, the animalistic features not found on any other creature in existence. Known as the Horned Queen, she stakes her claim on the woodland realm, and woe to any her cross her...

...So the tales say. In truth, Mahreena was a druid of the Scarus tribe in the Iron Woods. She sought out the verdant places of the world to try and understand their power, making many pacts with the spirits of her homeland, and tried to act as a peacemaker between the mortal and supernatural realms. In her first life, the world was a much more primitive state, and life was harsh, and those with magical powers were deemed to be holy or otherworldly beings, and the Scarus were no different in that regard. As a result, she ceased to be a regular human being in their eyes, and became something else. To some, Mahreena was a goddess come down to aid them, to others she was an example of what mortal potential could rise to be. In either case, she became a Kan, or spiritual patron, to the Scarus.

As she died however, Mahreena found that death was not a gentle or welcoming end, but a painful endeavour in which her soul was set upon by those who would prey upon the dead. For as long as Life had existed, so too had Death, and those who would abuse it. Necromancers even back then tried to defile those with power, trying to enslave their spirits to themselves. Mahreena had found herself a target of those beings, and fought for her very soul's existence as they tried to ply their magics. It was a hard and seemingly doomed battle, but just as she felt the last of her magic and power failing, something reached out to her...

Spirits, not those of divine or abyssal origin, but those of the world itself, are a different sort of being, and some can be stronger than even Gods... Such conceptual beings rarely interfere directly in the world, and few indeed are those who could even guess at their reasons why, but one such entity seemed to approve of the Kan's fight, of her refusal to back down even with her very soul being sundered. As its influence and power flowed into her, Mahreena found herself smashing the ethereal chains that the necromancers tried to place on her, and awoke on the mortal plane once more.

She found herself no longer in the form of a human, but as something else, something that her people had rarely had contact with, but still were told of in stories... an Elf. When she returned to the Scarus, her new form caused many to confront her with suspicion. It was only when she was able to prove her knowledge and capabilities were that of their Kan that they began to accept her... But it was Mahreena's revelation of what the strange black mages were doing to the graves of their fallen and others like it that she solidified their loyalties again in battle. Her new powers, in addition to her old ones, made her a frightful image on the battlefield, and the fervor that she could instill in her fellows swept aside the grave robbers like a landslide.

Since then, Mahreena has continuously returned from the grave in order to drive away those who would pervert the natural order, aided by her spiritual allies as well as mortal in a never-ending crusade. Her direct tribe is small in number, yet loyal, and all recognize her as the ruler of their tribe. Other tribes from the Titanwood, Iron Woods, and even the Blighted Forest venerate the Horned Queen as well, for as she has not always been human through her rebirths she has touched the lives of those elsewhere on many occasions, earning respect and infamy amongst the woodland peoples.

However, she has not only had to fight against those who practiced the undead arts. Others have throughout the ages sought to use or exploit the world, and so she has battled against encroaching civilization as well. As magi-tech grew in power, she has found herself sometimes pushed back by such forces, and she is suspicious and yet curious of what such things could mean in the future.

I just have one quick question, is it possible to have a saber weapon with the same bonus damage for charging as a lance?

I will have a back story and an updated cohort/personal wealth by the end of the day.

An old-style Cavalry saber you mean?

Yeah, that kind of saber. I couldn't find anything in pathfinder about it.

That's because it wasn't really innovated until the 1800s. It's a weapon that was made for the Napolean wars and afterwards, far more modern than anything in Pathfinder. It's essentially a scimitar though.

I did not realize that, so scratch that idea.

Dark Archive

This is the promised character for Atlas2112!

My fellows, I can not tell how much I'm looking forward to this unique campaign!
(Transcribed this from paper so I'll check it later to make sure I got everything.)

And Sukrai is correct. Well done! Earlier models even appeared slightly before then. For instance, the famous Revolutionary war hero, the Marquis de Lafeyette was known to use a heavy cavalry saber (which actually survived to be wielded by a Southern cavalry commander in the Civil War). =-)

Dark Archive

I shall wait on the cohort as you ask, but I would like cleric or war priest of sorts.

What are the Dragon deities, I just can't never find them other than Apsu and Tiamat.

And here's mine, or what I hope to be!

@Sukrai, The background works fine, thank you!

@Deiros, The first age revolved around the Nephilim, and ended when they plunged the world into Cataclysm. The second age was the time of mortals. During the second age, the Golden dragon Abraxas was the first dragon to ascend to Godhood. He is revered as the god of Dragons and Dragonborn (in this setting anyways), but Tiamat and Apsu are allowed as well since....well, dragons and magic, he's traveled to other worlds and parallel dimensions, and seen other Gods, etc. Dragons and they're gods are the only thing that I allow to cross over settings since they're so universal.

Back Story:

Orson Lowthorn was raise to be a warrior and a leader. His mother died giving birth to him. Orson's father was a guard employed by a governor of a small castletown, so Orson lived in relative comfort for the first 5 years of his life. However, everything changed when a neighboring kingdom sieged the town as part of a larger war. The outer walls were breached after only 3 days, and the town put to the torch. Only the governor's personal guards and a handful of militia managed to seek refuge within the castle itself. The invaders stormed the castle and put the remaining defenders to the sword. Orson's father hid him in the larder, where Orson watched his father attempt to defend the kitchen. His father was slain in single combat with the commander of the invading army. When the battle was over, that commander found Orson crying over his slain father. In war, the commander was a ruthless adversary, but in peace, he was a soft man known for his generosity, and he could not in good conscious leave an orphan boy to fend for himself in the ruins of the castletown, and so he took pity on Orson, taking him under his wing.

The general's name is Andarion Fiero and he became Orson's adoptive father. As a young boy Orson hated Andarion, he was being raised by the man who killed his father and he could not stand it. He would constantly voice it and show his hate for him. This would always lead to a stern yelling and sometimes even a beating if Orson was too aggressive. As Orson got older he began to stomach his hatred. Andarion began training Orson when he was 13 and Orson grew respect for him. Andarion was an excellent fighter and an even better commander. When Orson was old enough he began going into battle with his adoptive father, and learned how to lead troops. During this time he thought of a way to get revenge for Andarion killing his father. Orson decided to become an even greater general than his adoptive father ever was so that he will not be remembered as a great general, but as Orson's adoptive father.

Orson continued to train and fight with Andarion until Orson was in his mid 20's. That was when the kingdom had finished its war with the kingdom of the city where Orson originally lived. The war was a long grueling war because the two kingdoms were bitter rivals. The war ended with Orson's original kingdom being swallowed up by the other country. Orson has not had the chance to lead troops himself but with the new threat he will get his chance. The kingdom came to call upon Andarion to lead their army against the new threat, but Andarion is now old and brittle so he sent Orson in his place. After almost 30 years of waiting, Orson now has his chance to become a greater general than Andarion.

Dark Archive

I was wondering if it was allowed to user drakkensteed instead of light horses.

They are from Dragon Magic book.

This is @NewXToa.
I finished my character, although I plan on fleshing out the last bit of the backstory a bit more at some point. Currently, I have homework, so that doesn't take priority. I think I have everything else, not counting that extra backstory.

Backstory and the Nation of Steel:

Long ago after the fall of the Nephilim but before Man had risen from its hunter gatherer roots there lived the Elves. In tune with nature and powerful in magical talent the elves were still ugly and weak compared to their fey masters. These ancient elves were clever and quick but could not match their otherworldly power. They were little mroe than slaves tied to the whims and cruelties of immortal and alien rulers.

However something happened. The legends are not particularly clear on this next part. Some read that a creature of earth first took pity on the wretched elves and whispered the secrets of metal into their dreams. Other say it was the dwarves. And still some say it was a fey lord or lady wishing dominion over all her kind who mistakenly slipped the secret to the slaves in a bid for power.

Whatever the case when the power of metal slipped into hands and minds of the slaves they rose in a great torrent of fire and rage and smote their masters with an umatchable fury. Powerless against elven iron and desperate rage the fey retreated out of the mortal realm with what loyal slaves they had left.

And thus the Nation of Steel was born. No longer would Elf bow to any creature, man, fey, or beast. No longer would superstition and fear of the unknown cloud their judgment. The Nation of Steel became a bastion of scientific and magical progress whose desires for conquest are squelched by slow birth rates and a general lack of bloodthirst in the Elven race.

This nation has stood for more than a millenia facing off conquering empires, alien horrors, and more with grit, magic, and the power of metal. And now it faces it's greatest threat.

From this nation arises Commander Tarrana. Inventor, tactician, and marksman Tarrana leads the 12th Infantry Batallion the Fire Bringers stationed out of Fort Ironblood.

Tarrana is a no nonsense woman more at home with tools and oil than trees and spells. This attitude has made her less than popular with the traditionalists who favor being in tune with nature and advancing magical research. However her understanding and utilization of modern weaponry alongside technology as well as compassion for the plight of the common soldier has made her more than worthy in the eyes of high command and her subordinates. More than one horde of zombies or petty necromancers have been cut down in sudden hails of gun fire from the top of a hillside or blown apart in booby traps set the day before in their apparent path. A famous general once said that war is hell and Tarrana intends to bring all of it with her.

Despite her apparent popularity their are fewer close to her than her on again, off again lover and permanent second in command Cicero. A rocky in relationship in part because of her command and in part due to their differences in birth. Cicero is noble born and among the upper classes of the Nation of Steel. Tarrana is a commoner given her position purely through merit and military achievement.

Personality wise I'd say she's a bit of Jack Churchill mixed in with a bit of Patton and Ellen Ripley.

Turns out I was about 2,457 over budget. Adjusted to fix.

Making some minor edits to the above to make it clearer to read and correct some numbers.

Deiros, I'll allow the Drakkensteed. Very flavorful.

Thank you everybody for your submissions. I will look over all the entries and have my decision by tomorrow at 3PM EST. Recruitment is now closed.

Small tweaks to backstory format or details that make it more clear are allowed, as well as last minute tweaks to inventory before selection.

If you have any other questions, PM me and I'll get back to you between 2:45-3:30am, and 7-8am EST (break, and when I get off work).

How do you want to do cohort or do I submit one for approval?

I am Deiros just in case.

Just looking at a brief run down of completed submissions.

Tarrana - Elven Machinesmith(Combat Engineer)

Raidon - Human Samurai 12

Imrael - Nephilim Sorcerer 9

Kan - Human Druid/Shaman (Oh you look like fun)

Rasseth - Dragonborn Warlord 12

Orson - Human Cavalier 12

Rorrik Bogborn - Male shadeling fighter (dragoon, lore warden) 2/hunter (verminous hunter) 10

I saw one or two others but they didn't look finished? IS that everyone?

It is everybody. Also, we'll take care of cohorts shortly after the campaign starts.

I'll work on finishing my budget. I've got Rorrik's gear but not the rest.

Dark Archive

Sorry, sorry, my decrepit and easily distracted mind seems to have misunderstood something. I'll make all the needed corrections as soon as I can.

Ok, so I've looked over all the submissions to make sure that everybody was accounted for (which they were). Only two people didn't provide finished submissions, one of whom told me that they weren't able to though.

So of the final submissions we had:

Tarrana - Elven Machinesmith(Combat Engineer)
Raidon - Human Samurai 12
Imrael - Nephilim Sorcerer 9
Kan - Human Druid/Shaman
Rasseth - Dragonborn Warlord 12
Orson - Human Cavalier 12
Rorrik Bogborn - Male shadeling fighter (dragoon, lore warden) 2/hunter (verminous hunter) 10

I had been looking to recruit a total of 6 players, and recieved 7 submissions. I see no reason to cut one of you loose, based on anything. You all provided compelling backstory, and good character concepts. Given this is set to have an epic scope to the campaign, I think your armies will all be needed. Please make your way to the discussion thread, set up aliases, and put all necessary quick reference info in your character bar. Once everybody is checked in, I'll have a gameplay post up, either tonight, or in the morning (depending on everybody's check in).
