Are we doing 12 hour sleep cycles? I'd assumed we'd be doing 10 hour ones with only one person on watch.

Palomia Kasic |
So, I finally realized what a good visual representation of Relas would be...and it's this mount from World of Warcraft. Relas doesn't have the fancy headgear or anything like that, but otherwise it's pretty accurate :)
And even better, here is some fan art of said mount, which is perfect!

To my games,
I'm on steroids and antibiotics. I've been cycling being well and sick since Christmas, and it appears my lungs were trying to develop pneumonia again. So bear with me and apologies for not posting as regularly as I could have, been a lot more tired/distracted than I realized.

Zoreck the Unclean |

Sorry to hear that!
I had terrible bout of pneumonia about 15 years ago, and would not wish that on anyone!
Get well soon!

Ravboom |

I've had pneuomonia twice in my life, first time I was 12ish and spent a week under an oxygen tent in a hospital.
Second time I was 22, with no health insurance, and spent a month in bed at home and lost my job over it.

Rikkan Anardi |

I don’t think I’ve ever had pneumonia thankfully. But, I had the flu when I was a teenager and it totally whipped me.

So, it looks like we have lost Locke - it's been since before christmas that he last posted on the boards. I recall that something similar occurred last year (around about the same time) and it was a good few months before he managed to get stuff straight and return to posting... that time around, the game was in a state where reintegrating him into the adventure was quite straightforward - this time around, a little less so. I think that I'll GMPC him for a short while more... but when we arrive at the next settlement, if the player hasn't resurfaced, I will be writing him out of the game.

Rikkan Anardi |

His player has disappeared in another one of my games and left us in quite a lurch. I understand your reasoning completely. I do hope he’s alright, though.

Ravboom |

Hi all,
Feeling better, which is good, because I leave on vacation today. Getting sick the week before vacation sucks.
I'll be driving all day today, but will begin vacation posting Thursday. Going to be a bit of a boring vacation (visiting in-laws in the boondocks, so not much to do). Should be able to post frequently.
MDT

Zoreck the Unclean |

Sorry for disappearing yet again! My available time for online gaming is still limited, although I am hoping more will free up this month. It seems that every time I try to post, the site is either down or too sluggish to trust.
I had intended to update all of my games Saturday night while I was hanging out at my neighborhood bar. (They have good wifi.) But some of my friends dropped in, and I decided to be social instead. I only managed to update my very, very slow Ravenloft game.

Ravboom |

BTW: If you think Rav with a permanent marker is dangerous, wait until he finishes designing his 'magic talk board', which will be the size of a paperback book, until you take it out and press it to a wall, at which point it will grow to fill the wall with a pristine white surface. After which, you can press any colored stick to it, and wherever you press it, the surface turns that color. You can clean it with a bright white cloth, wiping the color away without staining the white cloth!
Magical expanding white board with multiple colored markers

Hi, folks.
I am dealing with some elder care issues from 300 miles away. I'm not sure when I'll be able to resume regular posting.
Thanks for understanding.

Been there, done that (although it was 600 miles away). Had to move them 15 miles away, so you may need to think of that. Depending on how mobile they are, if you need to move them, you might rent an RV. We did, it made things much easier. Having a bathroom and a bed everywhere you go makes a huge difference when you're transporting an elderly relative.

Zoreck the Unclean |

Hi, folks. I think I'm back for now. I gave a short summary of what's going on in my life in the discussion thread of Zed's Shattered Star game, if anyone is interested.

Palomia Kasic |
So...this is probably a bit out of the blue, but conversation in a different game led me to write the following and I thought it deserved being posted here, too.
Oh I know! Maybe it's just me but I feel like if you (or anyone) takes the time to say something then you should get some sort of a response. It's obviously something I try to do in the games I play/GM, just like you do, but I think it's important to do it in OOC too. Now I mean, depending on what the topic is I might not be able to say much or offer anything more than a 'That sucks' or 'I don't know, sorry' but I've always thought that even an answer in the negative is better than deafening silence. In some ways I think it's even more important to do online than out in the real world because when you're online it's easy to forget that the other people you're interacting with are, well, real people. Maybe they've had a good day but maybe they've had a bad day and then having a question ignored or an RP post get little to no acknowledgement...it's always made me feel discouraged, so I'm sure I can't be the only person who feels that way.
I'm probably rambling a bit because I worked last night and haven't gone to bed yet but this sort of thing has been on my mind a lot since the GM who'd been running a homebrew Walking Dead-style game on the forums dropped off the face of the Earth right after Thanksgiving. This was a game that had been running pretty steadily for the last 3+ years with 4 of the 6 players having been involved in the game from the start, including myself. Our 4-year anniversary for that game would've been this month. Nearly 4 years playing together and she vanished without a trace and it hit me that I never even learned her real name or anything about her much, beyond the fact that she's from the Australia/New Zealand area of the world. There's no way for me to find out what happened to her or if she's okay...and that makes me very sad and it's also a shame.
So...same as Nidhi, my PM box is always open if anyone here ever feels the need to vent or talk. A couple of you already know how to get in touch with me outside of the forums but I'm also on Google Hangouts, Facebook, and email is a thing too. I use all of those options to touch base with people that I play with on the forums. And even if you prefer to maintain your privacy - which I DO understand, my husband is an extremely private person while I find it much easier to be confident and outgoing online - then just remember that you're all more to me than just sometimes serious, sometimes silly, words on a screen. You're all real to me, you all exist, and I do think about you guys - and lots of others - outside of the games we play here.
It's kind of a sappy, 'I love you guyyyyys' thing except without the alcohol? :)
Apologies to those of you who'll see this more than once, heh. And though I think it posted it elsewhere, and earlier, welcome back Zoreck!

Ravboom |

Ok, everyone in concert....
"awwwwwwwww, kuwai!"
Sorry, anime channeling time. :P
I like the thought, and if anything happens to me, my wife will likely log in and let everyone know. Not that I expect anything anytime soon.
I usually try to respond to OOC and IC stuff. Sometimes I fail, and other times I just don't see that it needs a response (Like a post that you're going to be at a game con over the weekend). If you feel like I"m ignoring you, please let me know, it's more likely that I missed it or thought I responded and forgot, or the forums ate my post (they do that a lot! Grrrr).

Gerald |

Let me echo the intent of the last two posts. Like everyone else, work gets crazy sometimes and I can barely get a game post up, let alone anything further. But if anyone needs to talk, wants a word of encouragement, or just wants someone to vent at, just let me know. I’m happy to help! All of you are my friends, even if we’ve never met in person.

GM Zed |

Just echoing what others have said here... my inbox is always open for folks who want to PM and, if you ever see me seemingly ignoring posts in the Discussion Thread then its just 'cause I'm an absent-minded, juggling loads of balls at work then returning home to a 6 yo / 9 yo pair of boys, fellow... I saw Palomia's / Ladile's Walking Dead game suddenly stop and it is kind of sad - and, I suppose, always a risk of running long games that we get emotionally invested in. I consider everyone here a friend - goodness knows I've played on these boards with you folks for a good few years... I'm not on Facebook, Google Hangouts or the like - but, e-mail is a thing :)
I'm not planning on going AWOL anytime soon - four of my five GM games are long campaigns (Shattered Star soon to finish book two of six, Legendary Planet halfway through the second book proper, the Emerald Spire at the thirteenth level of sixteen... and the Blight only just started along its long road) - but I'm going to PM players my e-mail address - just as an insurance against the 'has my GM dropped off the face of the world?' syndrome - if I do ever go long term in absentia, you'll have another way of reaching out...

Ravboom |

If Relas is going to continue to scout, we need to do something about his stealth checks, they're abysmal at this level. Back at level 1 it wasn't that big a deal. But now he's just a giant clattery 'gong' to everything in the cave. :P
Tattoo's on his hide for magic items? (Slotless items so they don't take up slots on Palomia)?

Palomia Kasic |
Good thing to look into either next level or when we finally get some dang money to spend :P
But yeah, he's definitely falling behind in that regard. Which I can look into working on if we still want him to backup scout but if it'd work better to have Rav do it then I can shift that focus elsewhere :)

Ravboom |

Well, you don't have to max him out on it, but Relas has one ability that Rav doesn't (flight). So a single evolution point into a +8 racial bonus, or some skill points in stealth (or both) would be good. You don't want him doing flying scouting right now, as his low stealth would mean he'd get pincushioned out of the sky even at night.

Hi, folks.
I am still alive, and things are looking a bit better with my mom. I installed a washer/dryer on the main floor of the house, converted the dining room into a bedroom, and hired both a home health care aide and a housekeeper. Between the hired help, my sister, and one of my cousins (both of whom live in the area), I think things are on a more even keel, and I won't have to spend my weekends out-of-state.
I'm actually taking a much-needed vacation right now. (Greetings from Los Angeles!).
Echoing what Palo said: I consider all of you friends, and I am more than open to sharing my personal contact info with you. (Facebook, Tumblr, Google Hangouts, email, phone/MMS. Not on Instagram. I'm technically on Twitter, but never post.) Just drop me a PM.
I made the difficult decision to put my Ravenloft and Runelords campaigns on indefinite hiatus. This should allow me to post in the three games I'm playing in with much higher frequency.
So, now to catch up on the 70+ posts in the Gameplay thread...

Ravboom |

Glad you're back!
We left you back in town, but we only just got to the mine, so no reason you couldn't show up about the time things go BOOOOM in the mine.

Hey folks, just a note that I'll be heading out of town later today for a work training trip and won't be back until late on Friday the 20th. I'll have my laptop but the amount of free time I'll have to use it after today (Sunday) is uncertain so please go ahead and bot Palo & Relas as needed; if I have enough time to check in and post I will but otherwise I'll catch up when I get home.
Oh and if I do end up with some free time my first posting priority will be to my GMed games so if you see posts from GM Ladile elsewhere but none here that'll be why. Hopefully that'll avoid any 'I SEE U POSTIN' Y U NO POST FOR <X> GAME!?!?' confusion :P

Zoreck the Unclean |

Oh, in case anyone wants to hear the song Zoreck was drunkenly singing in the tavern:
"Pour Your Brother Another Round" by Heather Alexander, from Wanderlust ©1994 Sea Fire Productions
On an unrelated note...
I will be going to PaizoCon next month!
(Well.. I plan to be going to PaizoCon next month, barring a repeat of what happened last year...)
Is anyone in this group planning to attend? If so, we have to meet up!

Drancis Mordaron |

Since we are about to head into another long journey here, I was thinking in addition to the hot weather outfits we should pool our resources for a magical source of water.
It looks like the cheapest source would be a wand of Create Water (375 gp). Since none of us is a cleric or druid it would require a UMD check to activate....risky but a good backup plan in case water is not readily available.
GM Zed: what is Trebelbet's purchase limit? Is one of those wands available?

GM Zed |

GM Zed: what is Trebelbet's purchase limit? Is one of those wands available?
There's nothing written down as to the detailed stats for Trebelbet - it is, after all, a small oasis in the practical middle of nowhere (as indeed are most villages / towns in Rythes) - so let's assume that, given the inhospitable nature of the wastelands, such wands are available... :)

Ready to leave the massive radiation sink at least.

Zoreck the Unclean |

This was weird...
About an hour ago, I posted about getting ready to fight the gnolls, but my post just disappeared. I saw I had gotten ninja'd by the GM, so I wrote a second post to take that new info into account. That one disappeared, too.
I tried to post here to explain, and got a "Server Unavailable" error.
Looks like both of my original posts are up now.

Palomia Kasic |
There's definitely some site weirdness happening; posts are 'there' then 'not there', it keeps telling me I have new posts to look at when I've already looked at them all, etc. Just remember to keep calm and for all that's good and holy make sure you copy & save whatever posts you're working on!
