male Elf Witch 5

Samuel sticks to the center of the group, bow ready, silently watching for trouble.

There are two sets of small booted footprints in the thick dust on the stone steps as well as lit torches lining the walls downward it would seem you are not alone down here. The air is thick with a smell of mold and decay. The stairs lead to a damp small chamber room.

This damp chamber has an arched, vaulted ceiling some 20 feet high in the center. The walls are masonry (cut stone blocks), the floor rough flagstones. Thick webs hide the ceiling. There is a pile of refuse and rags in the middle of the floor.

Upon seeing A1 and A2 sprint back over to A5, and A8. They are able to save A5, but not A8.
A2 looks over at all the dead and he appears to be lost. Tears stream down his face.
A1 shoves two potions down the throat of A5 who is dazed, but quickly assess the situation, and ask where Mary is.

A1 replies that Mary is in the wagon, but her mother(A7) did not make it.
A1 then tell A5 to go into the wagon. Things have to be done that he may not wish to see, and he can help A4 keep Mary(girl who was screaming) inside the wagon.

Sorry for the delay

Urdaan and Calain:
You sweep the room but there is little to see and no threats spotted. Although you do notice a slight movement from within the pile of garbage and rags.

The room is dark damp and much like this rest of this fell place...empty. The refuse pile consists of husks, skin, bones, spider castings, and filth. The room has three door leading out one to the east, west and south.

Male Elf Ranger 1

Urdaan, seeing Calain's eyes dart to the rag pile as well, pulls out his crossbow and gestures in it's direction. "Rats, you suppose?"

Male Human Invulnerable Rager HP: 50/50 AC18/12/16, F6/R3/W2, Perception: +6, Survival +6, Init:+2; CMD:18; CMB+6

Probly.

Calain moves over,at an angle to Urdaan so he doesn't block his shot ,blade ready and kicks the clothe away. Readied action to stab any vermin.

Male Human (Vudrani) Cleric (Evangelist) 1

With his focus on the cloth pile that Calain knocks aside, Pashaj creeps forward, spear poised.

M Hobgoblin Druid 1

H'vok waits in the back of the group, wanting nothing more than to get out of this church. Something just does not seem right here.

Male Elf Ranger 1

Urdaan briefly glances back at H'vok and furrows his brow slightly before turning attention back to the rags. He nods shortly, however, once his eyes are back on the potential threat.

Very sorry bout that

Calain kicks away some of the rags and raises his blade ready to strike at whatever is within. The second you make contact with the rags a giant spider suddenly jumps out at you only to meet the end of your blade. But the spider is quick and leaps out of the dangerous swing and prepares to leap. Tiny spiders begin to swarm out of the pile and run across the room.

Calain delivers a strong and vicious blow to the spider cutting two of it's long legs right off.

The spider jumps on Calain and bites him with two consecutive strikes injecting venomous fluids from it's long fangs. 8 damage and must make two fort saves DC 14 to avoid becoming poisoned.

Hvok:
These are definitely Scarlet spiders and the larger the mother. There poisons are not deadly like their other cousins instead it instals the feeling of sickness upon it's foes weakening them.

Is this a swarm(as in the game term) or were you just being descriptive?

I think Pashaj can attack with his longspear from where he is standing.

Attack - 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
If it hits, it will deal 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10 points of damage.

Pashaj then takes a 5-foot step to I12.

Pashaj skewers the large spider stabbing it between it's many eyes it shrieks and falls dead on the ground.

Calain resists the poisons effects.

bump

Spider swarm as in 100s of tiny little spiders.

Male Human (Vudrani) Cleric (Evangelist) 1

Ugh. Swarms. I've had some bad experiences with swarms...

:)

M Hobgoblin Druid 1

Did my knowledge nature check get me any info? I know that the swarm size determines how weapons affect it.

I got a 20. It is in an earlier post.

Wrote this further up I suppose you missed it.

Hvok:
These are definitely Scarlet spiders and the larger the mother. There poisons are not deadly like their other cousins instead it instals the feeling of sickness upon it's foes weakening them. A swarm of spiders like such wound not be harmed by your normal weapons but they would be vulnerable to fire...

M Hobgoblin Druid 1

I did miss it, and I have no way to harm them.
"Someone who can cast AoE spells is needed up front."

H"vok then waits for a volunteer.

Garavel sheaths his blade and pulls out a torch quickly lighting it and waving it at the swarm of spider nearest to him "This should do the trick." He says as the spiders light ablaze many of them catching fire and burning to ash.

The spiders creep along like a crimson carpet. They swarm under Garavel who trys to repel them with the fire but there are to many and they begin to creep there way up his leg biting into his flesh all over his body and injecting venom's in the process. He yelps in pain as his body is covered with the small critter he manages to knock the majority of them off his body but looks ill after there dangerous bites.

The other swarm of spider crawls it's way over to Urdaan who is completly defenseless against the swarm of arachnid. You try to swing your axe at them in defense but it does little to keep them at bay and before you know it they surround you and crawl there way up your body biting and crawling at every interval.

Urdaan make a fort save vs poison.

Damage to Garavel:1d6 ⇒ 3
Damage to Urdaan:1d6 ⇒ 1

Fire damage to swarm 1:1d3 ⇒ 2
1d3 ⇒ 1

Str damage to Garavel:1d2 ⇒ 2

Garavel fort save:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

Following Garavel's example, Raulzig glances around. Upon noticing a lit torch near the entrance to the room, he drops his crossbow and makes desperate motions with his hand. One of the torches travels through the air and into Raulzig's hands.
Mage hand to grab a torch, not moving this turn

M Hobgoblin Druid 1

I guess I will be getting a torch the next time I get a chance.
H'vok stays out of the way of the others.

Waiting on Sam

male Elf Witch 5

Samuel will pull out an acid flask, lacking anything better to deal with the swarms, and move within 20 feet of the nearest swarm.

Male Human Invulnerable Rager HP: 50/50 AC18/12/16, F6/R3/W2, Perception: +6, Survival +6, Init:+2; CMD:18; CMB+6

Lacking any thing that can hurt the swarms Calain dismisses his rage, I didn't bring a swatter. Either burn them or lets leave. Lacking a torch at hand Calain moves to the rag pile and wraps it around his blade, making a torch to light next round.

fatigued, 1 round of rage used.

Male Elf Ranger 1

Fort Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

Urdaan scowls at the swarm gathering around his feet, and shifting his stance slightly, smashes his shield down into the spiders.

Seeing Samuel aiming an acid flask, he then jumps back so as not to foul the shot.

Shield Bash 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Damage 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Move to J14

Round 1: Urdaan swats some of the spiders aside but does no real damage to the group of spiders after getting most of the spiders off of him he steps back.

Urdaan takes 1d2 ⇒ 2 Str damage and is fatigued for 1d4 ⇒ 3 rounds. Every hour make one fort roll vs DC 11 to negate str damage.

Init order:

Ziggy
Sam
Calain
Pashaj<--
Scorpion
Hvok
Garavel
Spider swarms
Urdaan

Ziggy uses his mage hand to grab a torch from the nearby staircase and holds his ground.

Sammy pulls out a flask of acid and waits for the time to strike.

Calain sees that his blade will do nothing to the swarm of spiders. He moves wraps several rags around his blade and looks to how he can light it.

Male Human (Vudrani) Cleric (Evangelist) 1

We're still in Round 2, right? That's the round that Pashaj starts a sermonic performance on his turn (so H'vok, Garavel, and Urdaan benefit from the +1 competence bonus). If it's Round 3, Pashaj will maintain his performance and take another action.

Pashaj start his sermonic performance which should affect everyone.

The scorpion frantically looks around not sure what help it could be.

Hvok looks for a torch and finds that several line the walls up the stairs he grabs the lit torch and holds ground.

Garavel swings his torch at the spiders at his feet but is still covered in the vile arachnid which continue to bite into his flesh.

The larger swarm of spiders crawls towards Raulzig and Pashaj. Raulzig swings his torch at the spiders in defense fending them off but Pashaj is not as lucky and his spear does nothing to harms the large group of arachnids. They crawl up Pahsj biting at every limb causing them to fall limp as the poison begins to take affect.

Pashaj make a DC 11 fort vs poson or sucum to 1d2 ⇒ 1 Str damage and is fatigued for 1d4 ⇒ 1 rounds. Every hour make one fort roll vs DC 11 to negate str damage.

Urdaan is last up for 2nd round.

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24

1d3 ⇒ 3

M Hobgoblin Druid 1

Since I have a torch I will try to light it off of someone else's torch.

Male Human (Vudrani) Cleric (Evangelist) 1

Fortitude Save - 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Ouch...

Male Elf Ranger 1

Lacking any other more effective option, Urdaan once again brings his shield to bear again.

To hit: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Urddan once again bashes spiders away with his shield it is quite ineffective and does no real damage to the whole of the swarm.

Round 3 Init order:

Ziggy
Sam
Calain
Pashaj<--
Scorpion
Hvok
Garavel
Spider swarms
Urdaan

Ziggys up.
