It's a little late to make a plan for how to deal with the receptionist in character. Shall we simply contain/restrain her & then plan our next move?
Professor Quinto Addermire
Well, I'm engaging her in conversation, which should provide a decent distraction for anyone else. That's less cunning strategy on my part though and more just excessive optimism.
Celes Sontiri
By the way Victor, as near as I can tell, you have no languages listed on your character sheet. What languages do you speak?
edit: Of course, neither do Celes or Vanna...
I thought I put it down... Huh.
Common, Samsaran, Elvish, Aklo
Grey, the Lady's dog
You are all now Level 5. Congrats.
Well, that is going to take me a while...
edit: Almost everything is done, just have the loot to determine & 1 Evo point to spend on Great Mastiff, trying to decide between Push for his Slam attack, Grab for his Slam attack, or a racial bonus to Intimidate checks...
Opinions from the peanut gallery?

Your total char wealth should <= 16,000gp.
So, level 5, with the net worth of a level 6 character?
Nixie

Your total char wealth should <= 16,000gp.
A-yup. This is a pbp-ism. Tracking treasure is a nightmare in pbp usually, so instead I'm just handing out all the treasure you would get over the course of this level right up front. So this is where you should be enjoying all that loot-based fun Pathfinder has to offer. If we didn't do it this way then your characters wealth would always be lagging by about half the encounter wealth they would find during the level in a table top game. Does that make sense?
Professor Quinto Addermire
Makes sense yes. Also makes shopping easier because I'd gone with level 4 cash, so, even 10k in the budget.
So now the question becomes, will it really throw things off for you if I grab a Frost Fist Amulet for now and generally crawl ahead of everyone to keep our path manageably cool, or should I just grab something boring and generally useful.
Grey, the Lady's dog
Nixie, given that point, are we likely to encounter items in need of being identified? I'm contemplating picking up a 1st level page of spell knowledge & Identify is looking like the most useful Summoner spell I don't already know. Except of course, that it isn't useful if it is guaranteed never to come into play...
Nixie
|
@grey. I'm not sure too much identification will be required in this game.
I know, sometimes when the GM says "you leveled!" I groan. But it's like ripping off a bandaid. Your character is bad ass when it's done.

Been a long weekend (as in exhausting, not as in chillin for more days than usual. Have levelled up, but still need to spend a shedload of gold).
If anyone has any ideas feel free to tell me as I'm not used to just being given free reign.

No problem! Games always slow down after a while and set a rythm. Then if everyone stays faithful all of a sudden we are at 2000 posts!
BTW, anyone ever done Murder's Mark? I'm not quite getting my pathfinder fix and think I have enough bandwidth to run something else. I've never read that module but it looks cool.
Professor Quinto Addermire
Theoretically, jumping into yet another game won't be too much of a setback to finishing this project up already, but really, if this wad of players doesn't have the time, I'm sure you can fill in the gaps just fine.
Nixie

Well, I just gave them my card number and vwala, Murders' Mark appeared in my downloads. So now I just gotzta read it. You will all be invited of course!
Also this is my 2000th post on Paizo. Kindaa feels like a birthday.
Also...hi celes!!! We are on at the same time!
Celes Sontiri
OH HI NEW BEST FRIEND ONLINE~! And congrats. I would love to, like making new characters and backgrounds. My method is usually back story first and make skills and saves accordingly. So nine times out of ten I am no where near min/maxed.
Professor Quinto Addermire
It's really starting to sink in that investigators really don't bring a whole lot to the combat table.
Nixie

Murders Mark looks like it's going to be a blast. Maybe a good time to start deciding if you want to play and getting a char concept in mind. There are one or two other players on the boards that are fun, we will invite them. One lives in UK time zone so it would be 1 or 2 posts a day speed. Much slower than this game has been. Anyhooo, back to work!
Grey, the Lady's dog
Much as I am interested, I know for a fact I don't do a very good job in large groups on PbP, so I am going to decline on Murderer's Mark.
Every one have fun though.
Nixie

Grey would 6 players be too many for you? I think we could limit it to 6. If we did then I could track loot, maybe even XP, and run the module by the book. Not sure if that changes your mind.
Grey, the Lady's dog
Huh, I guess we currently are running with eight, so six should work.
I just was in one where we had seven PC's & several 'servitor NPC's' & one of them regularly summoned/raised several more & [i]one fight took so long that I wound up feeling like I needed to bow out of the game because we were literally only in the second or third round I genuinely 'could not track' what had happened/was going to happen.
So...
Well, we seem to be doing alright with eight, so six or eight or so, should work, sure.
But that does leave Vanna's question, what level should we build at?
Nixie
|
Yeah, a lot of that is the GM. They have to post round summaries and clearly state who has yet to move. And summons are really hard in pbp.
Murders Mark is for 1st level characters. It looks like it's investigation/RP heavy. this blurb should probably be enough to give you the feel. If we have fun and still like our characters at the end of the module maybe we can pick up an AP and keep going.

"Fishing town" eh? Sounds like a potential place to stick this character who didn't make the cut for a Skulls and Shackles game (after some tweaks).
Professor Quinto Addermire
Presumably, that sheet needs a little tweaking stats and equipment wise, but yeah, hooray for recycling unplayed characters.

I am a recycled character.

Link to new thread: Murders Mark
As hot as I look with this icon I'll probably give Nixie a makeover for that module.
Grey, the Lady's dog
Wait, hold on. I need to recalculate. I forgot that my additional hp from a higher Con. don't kick in until tomorrow.
Grey, the Lady's dog
So, Victor is obviously the 'baffle them with bullshit' bluffer, whereas Grey is more the 'let them trick themselves' variety...
When (if) they finally work out how to complement each other's style, they'll be dangerous...
