Elen Emerwen
Sorry, I thought I had acted for this round but I guess that was for last round. I'm not certain of which spells I have left at this point so I'll stick to hexes.
Elen targets one of the sergeants with her sleeping hex. DC 17 Will.
The Many-Faced GM
One of the Sergeants falls forward into the snow with a thud. The other sergeant barks out order to press forward. The guards able to do so move forwards and attack. With their numbers dwindling, they appear to be losing their nerve as none of their attacks hit. The captain moves forward and takes cover around the corner out of sight. However, you can hear her casting a spell. Droviz swings his hammer back again at the guard in front of him, but misses as the guard steps back and dodges the blow.
She is casting enlarge person.
The DC is higher since you cannot see the somatic gestures.

Havelock Iacton
Gripping the unstable chemical concoction firmly in one hand, Havelock narrows his eyes dangerously before taking a step back and lobbing it at the Sergeant that is still standing.
"You! No more of that if you please, I have a headache, and your BARKING is not helping it at all."

Ragnar lashed out with his spear, more smashing than thrusting.
Elen Emerwen
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24
"One of them is about to get much bigger!"
Readied action: Use Slumber on whichever soldier is the recipient of the Enlarge Person spell, or on the captain if she puts it on herself and comes around the corner.
The Many-Faced GM
Havelock's bomb explodes in a fiery blast on the standing Sergeant who consequently becomes no longer standing. The blast singes some of the guards as well, and the other Sergeant. Ragnar's spear stabs through a guard's chest, killing the man instantly. Krystae's arrow strikes another guard who falls over, bleeding to death. The sleeping Sergeant is awoken by the burning sensation. He grabs his sword and stabs up on wobbly legs.
"Sergeant, situation report!"
He calls back "most of the guards are dead. Sergeant Reams is down."
The Captain screams out "this is your last chance, leave now heroes, or perish here!'
"Gurgle, kill them all"
Out of the fountain in the courtyard, a medium water elemental rises up and begins to move toward the battle.

Guard #1 Reflex save vs. DC 15: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
The Many-Faced GM
The spell completed casting but she has not come out from around the corner yet. No one you can see has enlarged.
Krystae Stormcrow
|
Attack: 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 1 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (11) + 6 + 1 + 1 + 2 - 1 = 20
Damage: 1d8 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 1 + 1 + 2 + 2 = 14
Krystae draws an arrow and sends it streaking towards the water elemental as soon as it rushes towards the group. "I do not think it will be us that perishes here, fool! Lay down your weapons or we will kill you all! We have taken out most of your forces before they could even touch us. Think about that for a moment!"
Judgement of Justice - +1 Sacred bonus to attack
Standard Action - Attack the water elemental.
Havelock Iacton
Wanting to save his last bomb, Havelock instead draws his shortsword, complementing his armament.
Clanging the two blades together, he awaits a chance to get to grips with the enemy.
How long ago did we fight the wizard? Just wondering if the Mutagen is still in effect.
Droviz
"Right, then," Droviz says. "Let's do this."
The dark Elf moves towards the closest target and swings once again.
Hammer attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24 for 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10 silver damage.
Finally! ^_^
The Many-Faced GM
The mutagen will last until the end of this combat. There was a lot of time take up stacking silver bricks and collecting loot.
Krystae's arrow and Droviz's hammer take a lot out of the water elemental.

Ragnar Deathspeaker
Ragnar had never before seen a creature like the flowing water spirit. If he had been calmer he might have take the time to appreciate it. At the moment, he was consumed.
Attacking Water Elemental, Raging Power Attack, Bless: 1d20 + 10 - 1 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 10 - 1 + 1 = 23
Damage: 1d8 + 12 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 12 + 3 = 19

The Captain answers back, "fools! I will paint the snow red with your blood! I will have the crows eat your eyes! I will hang your entrails from the ramparts!"
Yes, waiting on Elen's action for the turn.
The Many-Faced GM
The sergeant that is still alive was already slumbered by your hex but was woken up when Havelock's bomb spilled over. He cannot be a target of your slumber hex for 24 hours.
The Many-Faced GM
Elen's curse invades the standing Sergeant, inflicting him with doomed luck. The last remaining guard sees no chance but to fight on. With renewed vigor, he slashes at Droviz with his cold iron longsword, penetrating through the drow's armor and into his midsection. Seeing the guard's determination, the Sergeant moves forward, sword drawn, and swings hard at Droviz, nicking him in the shoulder. The armor absorbed most of the blow, but Droviz could feel the blood starting to run down his arm. The captain strides into view and takes up position at the other end of the gauntlet, an evil smirk across her enlarged face.
Droviz takes 13 points of slashing damage from a critical longsword strike and 4 more from a regular longsword hit.

Longsword damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
The roll20 map has been updated.
Elen Emerwen
I forgot to put in my previous post that Misfortune hex would have been followed by Cackle to extend it to the next round.
Elen brings down a curse of bad luck on the captain as well, laughing with a shrill, eldritch cackle that rings in her ears. DC 16 Will, Cackle to extend.
Krystae Stormcrow
|
Krystae takes aim at the remaining guard and lets her arrow fly!
Attack: 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 1 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (8) + 6 + 1 + 1 + 2 - 1 = 17
Damage: 1d8 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 1 + 1 + 2 + 2 = 12
Judgement of Justice - +1 Sacred bonus to attack
Ragnar Deathspeaker
I'm going to wait for the others before taking my action. I don't want to be in the line of fire if Havelock decides to throw another bomb.
Droviz
Droviz curses at the pain, but fights on, swinging his hammer at the Sergeant to his best ability! Startlingly, the weapon turns an inky black on the downswing...
"Get out of it and we'll let you walk," the dark Elf snarls at the guard. "I'll have you on the Ogre's plate if you stay!"
Swift action: use pool point for +1 enhancement. Hammertime 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 5 + 1 = 18 for 1d8 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 2 + 1 = 10 silver. I wouldn't say no to some healing...
Havelock Iacton
"Huuumph!"
Allowing the short sword to clatter to the floor, Havelock retrieves the last of his clay phials and hurl it at the very large and inviting target.
Attack Vs Captain: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (6, 4) + 4 = 14
Ragnar Deathspeaker
Don't forget Bless is still up folks. All those attacks should be one higher.
As soon as Havelock's bomb went off, Ragnar stepped in next to Drovitz and thrust his spear at the massive captain.
Raging Power Attack, Bless: 1d20 + 10 - 1 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 10 - 1 + 1 = 30
Damage: 1d8 + 12 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 12 + 3 = 21
Crit Confirm: 1d20 + 10 - 1 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 10 - 1 + 1 = 26
Bonus Crit Damage: 2d8 + 20 + 6 ⇒ (1, 7) + 20 + 6 = 34
The Many-Faced GM
Krystae's arrow punctures the last guards chest and he collapses into the snow. Droviz's hammer smashes into the Sergeant, knocking the wind out of him. Havelock's bomb sails over head and smashes into the Captain's chest exploding in a cascade of fire and glass. The Captain raises her hands to her now bleeding and burning face. She snarls and takes half a step forward just as Ragnar's spear bursts through her feeble defenses and penetrates her eye cavity. Blood and brain matter spill to the floor, her body follows shortly afterwards. The Sergeant, near death and suddenly covered in his commanders fluids, drops his sword and surrenders.
The Captain had a mw greatsword, a mw throwing axe, an elixir of fire breath, 2 potions of cure moderate wounds, a dagger, a +1 cloak of resistance, an average key, and an ice crystal key. The 9 guards had cold iron longswords, daggers, light crossbows, chain shirts, and light steel shields. Both Sergeants had mw cold iron longswords, light spiked shields, daggers, mw light crossbows, chain shirts, 2 potions of cure light wounds each, 1 potion of interrogation, 1 attentive mirror, and 2 screaming bolts.
Sergeant Reflex save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Combat is over. Havelock's mutagen wears off.
Ragnar Deathspeaker
Ragnar huffed and leaned an arm against the wall, his breath forming billowing clouds in the cold.
Fatigued for a while.
Havelock Iacton
Havelock rubs his temples and groans as after-effects of his mutagen hits.
A splitting headache as well as the dizzying rush of his mind suddenly expanding, not to mention everything suddenly feeling a magnitude heavier.
"NOW can we find the young lady?"
Droviz
Dibs on a masterwork cold iron longsword! ^_^
"With the help of our new best friend here, I'm sure we can," Droviz says, grinning humourlessly.
Elen Emerwen
Axiously, Elen begins pulling the potions from the guards pouches, checking them to make sure they're healing, and all but pouring them down Droviz's throat. "You had me worried, all that blood," she whispers to him. She also hands potions to Ragnar when she notices his fatigue and injuries.
Droviz
One potion of CMW for 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (3, 5) + 3 = 11. One potion of CLW for 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7.
His health and vigour restored by the witch's brews, Droviz puts an arm around Elen and draws her close for a brief hug and mutters something directly into her pointed ear.
Krystae Stormcrow
|
Krystae scans the battlefield to ensure no additional threats are present then approaches the Sergeant, drawing her dagger as she approaches. "Where is the girl? Speak now and you can survive. If you refuse to cooperate, we will make sure you regret it."
Intimidate: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Ragnar Deathspeaker
Ragnar rose, his breath still coming in steaming clouds. He loomed like a shadow behind Krystae, adding silent assurance to her promise.
Intimidate (aid another): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 25
How about a little help there?
The Many-Faced GM
"Girl, what girl? Uh, there's a girl locked in one of the rooms upstairs. Radosek had us keep clear of her. And uh, I don't see Jairess around so she's either in the aerie or she's fled already, I guess" he says as he looks around. "Those are the only girls I know of around here." He is not attempting to be deceptive.
Elen Sense Motive: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21
Ragnar Sense Motive: 1d20 ⇒ 13
Droviz Sense Motive: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Havelock Sense Motive: 1d20 ⇒ 14
Krystae Sense Motive: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14
Droviz
"See? We're friends already," Droviz says as he gently releases Elen and walks over to put a fatherly arm around the sergeant's shoulder - and his new masterwork cold iron blade against the man's throat. "Let's go see that young lady you were said to keep clear of, shall we... what's your name again? And while we walk, you can tell us all about this Jairess you think skedaddled. There's a good lad."
The Many-Faced GM
"Jairess works in the aerie. I have had little contact with her.
I am Volan Sertane, Sergeant in arms to Nazhena Vasilliovna. You may have defeated us here, but you will not stop her. She will conquer your world. You will be nothing but a footnote in her history of accession."
Despite his aura of defiance, he leads you to a teleporter, and in turn to a locked door. "The Captain would have had the key" he says with obvious resentment.
The nondescript key does indeed unlock the door. Inside is a small bedroom furnished with a bed, desk, dresser, and storage chest. A large mirror hangs on the wall opposite the room's only door, and two windows look down on the tower's courtyard. Hiding beneath the covers of the bed is a small humanoid form.
Droviz
"Well, don't you worry, Vol, old son," Droviz says in a jovial tone. "Since you've been such a pal, I'll make sure everyone knows you helped us and you can share that footnote with us! Lucky duck, you won't just be a forgotten mook!"
In a gentler tone, the Drow calls out: "Thora? Thora, it's time to leave here now. We came to get you out. You're free, almost."
Havelock Iacton
Havelock waves the idea of world dominance away.
"Yes yes, words said by every would be conquer ever. I am sure that the whispering tyrant, Geb and any number of other much more powerful beings said the same."
Teathrically the Tengu looks around, before turning back with a lock of mock shock on his face.
"Would you look at that, still not conquered.
Besides, eternal winter? That would not slow down Geb's empire of the undead, in fact, it would only help him."
