Eadric Cuthwulf |
Eadric watches Torod gather berries, but makes no move to pick any himself, realizing this sort of thing is best left to those with special knowledge. When Torod passes some berries to Eadric, he remarks, Are these the berries Bokken was looking for. If so, we should get enough for him as well.

I'll come out of the bushes and, if they are still on me, I'll cast Flaming Sphere on myself to get them off me.
Eadric Cuthwulf |
Eadric leans back in his saddle as he watches with interest as Torod is covered in tiny spiders. It is good to be a druid indeed! he muses with a slight smile creasing his lips.
As Torod emerges from the thicket Eadric asks, Are you all right Torod?
Eadric nods and smiles at Torod's comment and dutifully marks the map. After he is finished he looks up at Torod and adds, Yes, let us continue.

As you leave the grasslands behind and enter the forest into the hex below tuskgutter and the the boggard,
A series of quick, yipping barks come from a nearby clearing…..
Perception DC 15
An open pit trap is still difficult to spot in the clearing here. The pit, was once covered by a layer of branches, has claimed a brush thylacine, and the hungry creature paces the confines of the 10-foot-square, 20-foot-deep pit in a frenzy.
Fail perception check?
As you near this pit that is obscured you get to the pit’s edge and the side slips away.
A DC 15 Reflex save prevents a 20-foot-fallinto the pit and exposure to the frantic thylacine’s hunger.

Just as Eadric heads towards the pit Ellaria tries to tell him something....
There is a reflex save for Eadric's horse DC 15 to miss the pit...
Eadric
If your horse fails the save you can have a reflex save to not go in with the horse, or you can choose to go in!
Eadric Cuthwulf |
Selaes' reflex save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
Eadric and his mount fail to notice the pit but Selaes deftly sidesteps the pit as the edge gives way, keeping rider and horse from tumbling into the yawning hole.
If Torod falls into the pit, Eadric will attempt a fast dismount and jump into the pit after him.
KenderKin |
Here is the official....
Eadric's horse went into the pit, Eadric avoids falling, but is not in time to stop Torod.
No one else wanders into the pit.

Eadric drops his lance free action draws his sword and leaps into the pit in defense of his horse and Torod, free action coupled with move action attempting to land upon the animal ranged touch attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19 dealing either 3d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 3) = 7 damage, or half damage at KK's discretion. Also, if the animal is aware of Eadric's attempt it is allowed a Relex save (DC 15) to halve the damage as well. Even if he is successful, Eadric will still take the damage listed above and land prone. :)

Large stones begin to fall in the pit as a friendly elemental arrives right below Eadric and his horse, both lifting and expelling Eadric and his horse from the pit!
Saving them from the stone rain!

Summon Nature's Ally II allows small elementals. As for expelling you, my guess would be Kenderkin had the elemental rise up from the earth underneath you and the horse. This is not supported by the rules, but what the hey? Except that leaves me and the elemental alone in the hole with the ravenous critter.
KenderKin |
I was thinking the elemental was a bit stronger at this stage, oh well
The elemental itself is not taking damage from the stones that fell and took it's own idea to clear out the pit a bit.....
Torod
Your call was answered, but through some unknown way, similar to the rain and electricity infusing the storm burst, this elemental is obviously a medium sized elemental!
Eadric
The energy of the spell Ellaria cast seems to have somehow strengthened the elemental that Torod brought forth.

The stink of moldering plants and a strange quiet in the
sound of birdlife surrounds a somewhat sunken clearing
in the woods here. At the center of the clearing, the soggy
ground becomes an insect-infested, stagnant, swamp-like
pond, and sprawled at the pond’s southern edge is what
appears to be a dead horse.

A small clump of wolfsbane grows here, you almost did not even see it.
KenderKin |
Further investigation reveals the creature to be a dead unicorn, its horn broken off at the brow and its body strangely untouched by insects or other necrophages. The stink of mold comes not from the
body, which is weirdly odorless, but from the fouled water of the pond.
Torods mapYou are at the bottom left corner, marked dead unicorn......

An examination of the unicorn reveals no obvious cause of death, although the creature’s eyes are milky and sightless, indicating the creature was blind at the

you recall unsettling tales of how the acts of some powerful fey creatures from the First World can leave their victims “marked” in a way that even their bodies shed a strange aura of repulsion to natural life—as if animals and vermin could sense the anger of such powerful fey and knew better than to involve themselves with such a victim.
No Torod does not have to return to the scene to make an assessment!
KenderKin |
Torod thinks so hard as to nearly burst a blood vessel, then gets lost in a daydream a half waking stupor...

The vision of the world before men fades as you believe with certainty that a very powerful fey, or very powerful fey magic was involved in this unicorn's death

"I REPEAT. TIME TO GO." Torod leaves. He will leave the others if they decide to stay. He'll go several hours away and wait no longer than a day for them to catch up.
When they do catch up, he'll tell them to read the spoiler.
