Oh, by the way, Cuetzpalli, where is that +3 to Will saves coming from? You make it either way, just checking.
Init Order:
Astraden
Horned Devil (Stunned for 2 rounds)
Carina/Clunk
Zyrxog/Sabir Sinfire, and also the Minotaur (Stunned for 2 rounds)
Krekie/Eben
Darl Qethos/Cauchemar Nightmare/Efreeti
Farrukh/Cuetzpalli
Krathanos (Stunned for 2 rounds)
Tanith
Displacer Beasts/Other Carina
Round 2: Farrukh is up!

Eben MacTeague |

So, I guess I can live with Krekie and my turns being skipped if that means Darl, the efreeti, and the horse are likewise initiative jumped? But assuming that's all accidental, I'm holding off on posting my action until seeing what Astraden & Carina's statuses are, since that could alter my plans.

Carina Viera |

Will Save *Good Hope*: 1d20 + 12 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 12 + 2 = 18
"AGHBLARGAGHL"
Zyrxog's mind blast drives any semblance of focus from Carina's head. There's only a searing migraine.

Cuetzpalli |

[dice=Bodyguard (Infinite Step)]1d20 Successful Aid boosts his AC by 2, causing Attack #3 to miss.
Sabir's blurry image lashes out to parry some of the blows, narrowly stopping Cuetzpalli's holy blade from decapitating the minotaur outright. All the same, the minotaur is left panting, covered in blood, barely still standing.
I think you typoed that first damage. I have 55, 62 and 66. Applying his DR for 53, 60, 64. Total of 177 damage.
Yeah, I did typo, nice catch!

Cuetzpalli |

Oh, by the way, Cuetzpalli, where is that +3 to Will saves coming from? You make it either way, just checking.

Displacer Beasts/Other CarinaRound 2: Farrukh is up!
https://paizo.com/campaigns/KCsAgeOfWorms/gameplay&page=472#23575
This is what I was thinking. Did that only last one round or something? I included that but left Good Hope off as per you saying, "Don't forget Aegis, which doesn't stack with Good Hope." The other +2 is from Owl's Wis.

Cuetzpalli |

So replace the +3 with a +2 for good hope instead, my bad!

Eben MacTeague |

Alright, then, moving right along...
With Astraden going down to the mintoaur, and Carina's brain being fried, things don't look too good. But then, Zyrxog was also kind enough to remove two of his own allies from the field as well, so... maybe it's a wash... Eben thinks, as he does his best to eliminate a few more threats. He begins to shuffle and twirl in place, his two mirrored doubles forming a weird little chorus line with him.
Activating Dance of the 23 Steps as a free action.
He then clicks another button on the glass rod, activating a normally difficult spell with a touch. A glittering blue aura surrounds him.
Casting quickened arcane concordance on the defensive as a swift action. Concentration to cast with Dance, DC 18: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (19) + 20 = 39Casting on the defensive, DC 21: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (11) + 20 = 31 The associated metamagic feat is Extend spell.
Then he digs deep down inside his own spellcasting and energy reserves; he wants to make sure the next spell counts.
Spending two action points, for Spell Focus: Enchantment and Greater Spell Focus: Enchantment. His three dancing forms flourish, and simultaneously bow, doff a (nonexistent) hat, and bellow: "TA-DA!" The words of encouragement he has been shouting out since combat started suddenly end, coming together somehow meld with the physical sight of his ending the performance, causing a wash of sound and light to flash across the battlefield, in three different directions. At the efreeti. At the nightmare. And, lastly, at NotCarina. Forzamele speaks out loud in Infernal, on Eben's behalf.
Casting extended stunning finale on the defensive as a standard action.Concentration to cast with Dance, DC 20: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (8) + 20 = 28Casting on the defensive, DC 25: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (14) + 20 = 34 Spending a third AP to save the spell slot. This ends Eben's Inspire Courage, but Lingering Performance means everyone still gets two more rounds of benefit from it even if Eben doesn't manage to re-start. [ooc]The three targets each need to make a Fortitude Save, DC 24 with the spell focus feats and arcane concordance boosting it. Failure means they're stunned for two rounds; success means they're staggered for two rounds each.
Then, he rises from his bow, clearly a little more tired for the effort, but still merrily dances his way a few feet back, seeming to dance up an invisible staircase while so doing.
Moving back along the blue line, also moving 25 more feet up in the air while doing so.
Haste lasts 12 rounds on everyone.
Good Hope lasts about 137 rounds on everyone.
Everyone is under the effects of Inspire Courage, and will continue to be for the next 2 rounds.
Greater invisibility is on Farrukh for 25 rounds.
Eben is personally buffed by 2 mirror images, cat's grace, gravity bow, and shield, likewise lasting about 137 rounds.
Eben and Cuetzpalli both have +3 greater magic weapon cast on them.

Eben MacTeague |

Actually, how high does the nightmare's smoke cloud rise? It might be better for Eben to stay inside it rather than climb up above.
Oh, and Eben's AC is 34 while the dance of 23 steps is in effect.

Dungeon Kobold |

Uhh. Well, it's a 15-foot cone, so it's around 15 feet high at the far end and 5 feet high at the close end.
Part of why the next post is taking a bit is that my sleep schedule is totally shot, so I'm gonna quickly outline the next turn and go to bed and get things rolling in the morning.

Eben MacTeague |

Alright, retconning a little so Eben only walks an additional 10 feet off the ground, so he's at a 15 foot elevation and still inside the cloud.

Farrukh Al`Khatel |

Preemptively Saving Will: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (7) + 13 = 20
Gonna use an Action Point for once, now way that's good enough.
AP: 2d8 ⇒ (5, 8) = 13
Total: 28.

Eben MacTeague |

It's actually 3d6, at this level.

Storm Dragon |

I thought it started as a d6, then let us reroll, then boosted both to d8s? Bah, what do I know, I never use these blasted things.
3d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 1) = 6
So I guess it's a 24. That makes me significantly less comfortable.
Edit: I kinda forgot to include buffs. So it's a 26 with Good Hope? Do we have any other save buffs going? My own Aegis doesn't work on me.

Eben MacTeague |

You've got magic circle against evil centered on you. Also inspire courage, if it's a qualifying effect.

Dungeon Kobold |

Saves (Nightmare, Efreeti, Not-Carina): 1d20 + 14 + 2 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 14 + 2 + 4 = 251d20 + 17 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 17 + 4 = 281d20 + 14 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 14 + 4 + 3 = 40
The tiefling and efreeti both stumble from the spell's force, but seem to resist the worst of it. The nightmare, though, goes still, stunned by the power in Eben's performance.
Round 2: Krekie
The invisible, hidden-in-plain-sight Krekie continues to line up her shot, one beady black eye closed in concentration.
Round 2: Darl Qethos
Darl snarls and lunges out with his hideous hand to grasp Farrukh's shoulder, a copper rod crackling in his other hand with dark nothingness.
Touch attack: 1d20 + 15 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 15 + 1 = 18 On a hit, Farrukh must make a Will save vs. teleportation.
Scowling as Farrukh resists the effect, Darl works a careful healing prayer on himself, and all of his wounds instantly vanish. Stepping to the side, he calls out to the efreeti, "I wish for our colleagues to be restored to their rightful purposes."
Round 2: Efreeti
Even staggered as he is, the efreeti grins. "Two down." He snaps his fingers.
There is a flash of light. The minotaur, cauchemar nightmare and horned devil all stir, looking disoriented but back in their own heads.
Yup, that's a Wish to remove the stun on those three. We'll say the cauchemar still misses its turn, though, since it moved before the efreeti. The efreeti and Not-Carina remain staggered.
Round 2: Farrukh is up!

Astraden Limhaare |

The minotaur snarls and hacks brutally at Astraden with his greataxe.
[-4/123], then dead, I believe.
Astraden staggers after the third greataxe blow, considers, and then lets herself slump to the ground.

Cuetzpalli |

"No! CARINAAAAAAAaaa!"

Farrukh Al`Khatel |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Farrukh grits his teeth as he sees Astraden go down again. He knows it probably won't stick...but there's always the chance that this time it's for real.
In that split second of distraction, Darl's dead hand closes around his throat for a moment.
Farrukh feels his body twist and warp before the Material is reasserted.
Jeez, glad I used that AP. Talk about cutting it close.
Ripping free of the Cleric's grasp, he goes on the attack again.
"Sooner we put you down the sooner we can set everything right again."
Farrukh lashes out with the sword formerly known as Tooth, aiming to steal time from the persistent undead.
Initiating Time Thief's Talons as a Standard.
Attack: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (18) + 25 = 43
Damage: 1d6 + 51 ⇒ (6) + 51 = 57
Confirm?: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (2) + 25 = 27
Damage?: 1d6 + 51 ⇒ (3) + 51 = 54
I still have actions remaining, but the situation is currently too complex for me to lay out all the options as "if this, then that" spoilers without being here for hours lol. Basically, when you get a chance tell me if this hit finishes off Darl, and I'll decide the rest of my turn from there.

Eben MacTeague |

Pretty sure Darl just cast heal on himself; 'all his wounds instantly vanish'; your attacks last round did 132 damage and he was still breathing, so the 111 you just did won't cut it either on a fully healed Darl.

Farrukh Al`Khatel |

Ah, I missed the Heal bit. I didn't figure he'd be able to cast Heal and also try to use Plane Shift on me at the same time anyway. Guess he Quickened it?
Anyway, blender time.
Tooth: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (6) + 23 = 29
Damage: 1d6 + 21 ⇒ (5) + 21 = 26
Klaw: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (2) + 25 = 27
Damage: 1d6 + 21 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + 21 + (6) = 31
Klaw Haste: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (14) + 25 = 39
Damage: 1d6 + 21 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + 21 + (3) = 25
Klaw Iterative: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (11) + 20 = 31
Damage: 1d6 + 21 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + 21 + (6) = 29
Klaw Iterative 2: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (15) + 15 = 30
Damage: 1d6 + 21 + 1d6 ⇒ (5) + 21 + (3) = 29

Eben MacTeague |

" a copper rod crackling in his other hand with dark nothingness." Yeah. dude has a Quicken rod.

Dungeon Kobold |
2 people marked this as a favorite. |

Actually, that rod was the material component. But yeah, Plane Shift was Quickened--he's busted out one of his three wishes and his easiest quick-escape valve against you all now. I actually forgot to roll Concentration for the heal spell, though.
Concentration: 1d20 ⇒ 20 Not a 1.
That bonus standard action crit, man... that'll do it.
Darl snarls in rage as Farrukh manages to improbably resist being drawn into a hideous death. "You think you can? You think you can 'set everything right'?"
Farrukh's blade cuts a deep gash across his forehead. He reels back, clutching at it with a howl. "There is no right, you fool! You, your comrades, your kin--none of them matter if you can't see the path! You--"
He seemed to assume Farrukh was finished. Farrukh isn't. His blades swing in brutally graceful arcs, forcing Darl back, knocking him down, breaking bones, slashing across his chest and stomach. He raises the Hand of Vecna to shield his bloodied face. "Duke Malhazar, I wish--"
And Farrukh's klar slices through the arm at the shoulder.
Darl Qethos screams. Violet energy seems to seep from his shoulder, pooling around the hand like dark starry nebulas. There is a sound like many thousands of whispers, at once impossible to make out and impossibly loud. His eyes widen, and he stares up at Farrukh unseeing as the violet energy seeps into his eyes, runs across his face like water, like an infection, until he is immersed and his screams are silenced.
The Hierophant, greatest priest of Vecna drifts slowly down to earth, dead.
Sabir looks stricken, and up above, the invisible Krekie flinches. Malhazar looks at the body, then shrugs. "Well, someone else can wish it, I'm sure."
Round 2: Krathanos stunned 1/2.
Round 2: Tanith is up!

Tanith 'Kordson' Creed |

Tanith will delay until he's right before Astraden. I believe that just means waiting one slot on the initiative.

Dungeon Kobold |

Init Order:
Tanith/Astraden
Horned Devil (Stunned for 2 rounds)
Carina/Clunk
Zyrxog/Sabir Sinfire, and also the Minotaur (Stunned for 2 rounds)
Krekie/Eben
Darl Qethos/Cauchemar Nightmare/Efreeti
Farrukh/Cuetzpalli
Krathanos (Stunned for 2 rounds)
Displacer Beasts/Other Carina
I'll look to update tomorrow or the day after.

Eben MacTeague |

After seeing the effects of his own hard work and Zyrxog's lack of team player-ness reversed with just a few words, and the promise of Farrukh's overclocked attack likewise being reversed, Eben has only one thing to say: "F%~&ing genies. I bet he's not even twisting words!" Actually, he does have something else to say, but not out loud. Forzamele's musical whisper echoes in Tanith's head.

Cuetzpalli |

"No! CARINAAAAAAAaaa!"
Lol, typed wrong name. My bad! -embarrassed face-

Dungeon Kobold |

I genuinely assumed he was just yelling at Carina because she's the main secondary healer who usually brings back the dead when Astraden can't.

Cuetzpalli |

I genuinely assumed he was just yelling at Carina because she's the main secondary healer who usually brings back the dead when Astraden can't.
I suppose that's true, isn't it? Let's go with that...

Dungeon Kobold |

Round 2: Displacer Beasts and "Rin"
The loping beasts scamper forward and scoop up Darl's descending body, carrying it protectively within their tentacles as they rush to deliver it to the battlefield.
Meanwhile, Not-Carina, staggered by Eben's spell, stumbles over to join Sabir and Zyrxog.
Just remembered the smoke cloud dissipated on the nightmare's turn, since it couldn't maintain it this round.
Round 3: Tanith is up, as is Astraden if she resumes being, well, alive.

Tanith 'Kordson' Creed |

"Damn", Tanith growls when Astraden is cut down by the minotaur's relentless brutality. "Reggie, hurry up. We don't have a lot of time."
The fox-like celestial gives the big man a nod of understanding. Boldly, he leaps away from the efreeti's blade and nightmare's hooves. With a flourish he calls down a pillar of kaleidoscopic light on top of the villains.
Vulpinal moves away provoking. I think he's doing okay on HP still so it's unlikely he's going to be pasted by the AoOs. If he is ignore the holy smite.
Holy Smite (will DC 17): 7d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 2, 3, 3, 2, 3) = 24
Having finished his task, the vulpinal dissolves into motes of starlight returning to distant Ysgard.
Tanith prays again for aid. This time it's not one of Kord's servants that answers but one of his more mischievous allies. A pixie appears giggling softly despite the bedlam she's been called into. She swiftly works a spell and Tanith, Astraden, and Carina are all whisked away on ethereal winds commonly seen in teleportation spells. The blood-soaked earth is all that remains where they once stood.
Using a swift to replace the vulpinal with a pixie. The pixie is summoned somewhere in the woods to the NW if possible. The pixie casts permanent image to replace the trio mentioned above with churned bloody earth absent our heroes. Spending an AP to juice the illusion as discussed in discord.
Under the cover of the illusion Tanith works a stronger prayer, one he's seen Astraden perform many times but one he's never tried himself. "Astraden, if you can still hear me, let my strength be yours. By the Brawler, draw breath once again."
Using a standard action to cast breath of life and using an AP to keep the spell slot.
Breath: 5d8 + 15 ⇒ (8, 5, 7, 8, 1) + 15 = 44

Tanith 'Kordson' Creed |

It occurs to me that I can hedge my bets on the vulpinal surviving the AoOs by having him lay on hands himself again before he moves.
Hands: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 3) = 12

Dungeon Kobold |

Black Fire/Malhazar AoOs: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (9) + 22 = 311d20 + 30 ⇒ (12) + 30 = 42
Damage: 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (5, 2) + 10 = 171d6 + 17 ⇒ (5) + 17 = 22 Presumably does not kill it.
Will Saves (BF,M,Displacers: 1d20 + 7 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 7 + 4 + 2 = 201d20 + 14 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 14 + 4 = 351d20 + 9 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 9 + 4 = 151d20 + 9 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 9 + 4 = 16
Displacer Damage: 3d8 ⇒ (5, 3, 8) = 16 16 damage to the two blue displacers, and they're both blinded for 1 round. The efreeti and nightmare both take 12 damage.
Two of the displacer beasts shriek and try to cover their eyes with their tentacles as the holy light burns their wicked hearts, but the nightmare and its rider stare the fire down.
Tanith and I agreed that in exchange for a hero point, his illusion will grant Partial Concealment until the enemies attack, at which point they can save to disbelieve as normal. It does guard him (and Astraden) from AoOs this round against non-true seeing enemies.
Round 3: Astraden, likely just-revived, is up!

Astraden Limhaare |

[28/123]
Astraden's punctured lung begins pumping again, made functional but not fully repaired, as she hacks and coughs her way to her feet. She quickly judges some distances, counts the number of enemies around her, and then runs back under the drooling jaws and limp forelimbs of Krathanos and releases a healing burst.
Stand up as a move (provokes from anyone who can see past illusions) [8/12], action point for an extra move (movement, provokes from anyone who can see past illusions) and standard Quick Channel [1/7] Selective channeling to heal only Eben, Cuetzpalli, Tanith, Carina and Krathanos: 7d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 1, 6, 2, 4, 3) = 24 [52/123]. Staying at 20 feet elevation.
Wind walk lasts like 10 hours on Astraden, Carina, Cuetzpalli, Eben, Farrukh, Tanith, Clunk and Krekie.
Freedom of movement lasts like two hours on Cuetzpalli.
Veil on Krathanos lasts a bunch of hours.
Magic circle against evil centered on Farrukh lasts about 149 minutes.
Magic circle against evil centered on Carina lasts about 149 minutes.
Magic circle against law centered on Eben lasts about 149 minutes.
Magic vestment +3 lasts just under 15 hours on Clunk's cloak.
Owl's wisdom on Cuetzpalli lasts 144 rounds.
Shield of faith +4 on Tanith lasts 145 rounds.
Shield of faith +4 on Krekie lasts 146 rounds.
Communal air walk on everyone but Krathanos lasts just under 20 minutes for everyone but Astraden (for whom it lasts 10).
Spellscar lasts 1497 rounds.
Guidance on Cuetzpalli lasts 8 rounds (not yet used, right?).

Dungeon Kobold |

Round 3: Horned Devil
Recovered from Zyrxog's stunning, Nalhazzarath the horned devil grins, picks up its dropped spiked chain, flies up slightly, and swings at where it believes Astraden to be.
Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 6 Will Save to Disbelieve: 1d20 + 13 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 13 + 8 = 23
Spiked Chain (Vital Strike: 1d20 + 26 ⇒ (9) + 26 = 35 Damage: 2d6 + 11 ⇒ (6, 3) + 11 = 20 And make a Fortitude save, DC 27, or be... stunned for 1d4 ⇒ 3 rounds.
Round 3: Clunk
Clunk takes a step forward to flank the minotaur with Cuetzpalli. His eyes wink out as he strikes blindly. "For the record: This unit was reluctant to employ tactics which rely upon random chance, and did so only under duress."
Miss Chances: 1d100 ⇒ 151d100 ⇒ 421d100 ⇒ 41
He takes three powerful swings. All three miss.
"... This unit expects that its reticence was noted."
Round 3: Carina misses her turn. I'm gonna tackle Zyrxog & Co tomorrow.

Astraden Limhaare |

Fortitude: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (13) + 15 = 28 32/123
Astraden groans and takes the hit.
"I didn't see that, Clunk!"

Dungeon Kobold |

Round 3: Zyrxog
Zyrxog turns to the party and seems to concentrate, slowly intoning words in an esoteric tongue not meant to be spoken by human mouths.
Deafness (81-100 failure): 1d100 ⇒ 98
It is also not meant to be spoken without being able to hear what you're saying, evidently.
He moves a bit further from the melee as his spell collapses.
Round 3: Sabir Sinfire
With the illusion disrupting her view, Sabir Sinfire tears her eyes off Carina and again swings her guisarme in a wide, bewildering arc that strikes Eben, Cuetzpalli and Tanith. She changes her position slightly.
Hammer of the Immortal @Eben, Cuetz, Tanith: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (14) + 23 = 37 If that hits (feel free to roll your own miss chances as applicable--remember, high is good for PCs) you take 2d4 + 9 ⇒ (2, 4) + 9 = 15 slashing damage, take a -4 penalty to AC and CMB until your next turn, and are immediately subjected to a Trip attempt (note the penalty also hits your CMD). If it misses, ignore the following trip attempt.
Trip @Eben, if hit: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (10) + 23 = 33
Trip @Cuetz, if hit: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (7) + 23 = 30
Trip @Tanith, if hit: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (2) + 23 = 25
Her movement is slightly dependent on if she manages to trip Cuetzpalli, so I'll wait on that before posting the minotaur's and Krekie's actions, as I've been pretty swamped today anyways.

Eben MacTeague |

Eben sees the guisarme coming for him and does his best to maneuver out of reach, stepping further up into the air. One of his images isn't so lucky.
Here's a trick I haven't used in a long time: Spending a Panache point as an immediate action to active Dodging Panache. This moves me 5 feet further up and gives a +6 to my AC vs. Sabir's attack. With the +4 from Dance of 23 Steps, Eben's AC is 41 vs. this attack.

Cuetzpalli |

Can I even be tripped when I'm flying? I am raging/flying, though close to the ground at the moment to be able to reach the enemies.
Mirror Image (1 hits): 1d7 ⇒ 5

Dungeon Kobold |

I think I generally rule that flying creatures can be tripped--after all, you can lose your balance when flying. You wouldn't fall to the ground, of course.

Dungeon Kobold |

Tanith, it was pointed out to me that you should have gotten an AoO on the horned devil when he grabbed his weapon.
Round 3: Minotaur
The badly-injured minotaur grabs his weapon and hurries to join his compatriots--Cuetzpalli and Clunk, both blinded, can do nothing to retaliate.
Round 3: Krekie
Zyrxog's fickle winds ward has been dispelled, and he's plainly within view, deafened and disoriented. Krekie zooms forward and takes the shot.
Death Attack (haste, ic, good hope, studied): 1d20 + 18 + 1 + 2 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 18 + 1 + 2 + 3 + 2 = 32 Barely hits his flat-footed, even with Sabir's Bodyguard feat in effect.
Damage: 1d8 + 1 + 6d6 + 3 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 1 + (5, 6, 6, 6, 4, 4) + 3 + 2 + 2 = 42
Zyrxog Fortitude Save vs. Death Attack (Aegis): 1d20 + 13 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 13 + 4 = 28
Zyrxog Fort Save vs. Dragon Bile: 1d20 + 13 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 13 + 4 = 18 Krekie would like to swap these two saves, thank you very much.
Str Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 1
Zyrxog gives a choked gasp as the bolt thuds into his chest, narrowly missing what perhaps passes for the illithid's heart. He staggers, barely still standing.
Init Order:
Astraden
Horned Devil
Carina (stunned for 1 round)/Clunk
Zyrxog/Sabir Sinfire/Minotaur
Krekie/Eben
Darl Qethos/Cauchemar Nightmare/Efreeti (Staggered for 1 round)
Farrukh/Cuetzpalli
Krathanos (Stunned for 2 rounds)
Tanith
Displacer Beasts/Other Carina (Staggered for 1 round)

Eben MacTeague |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

"ALRIGHT KREKIE!" Eben shouts. The sight of their, til now, possibly greatest enemy being knocked down to his last few breaths is... tempting, to say the least. He had a plan formed, but this moment of weakness comes close to making him break it. In the end, he holds resolute. Somewhat. Maybe there's a little bet hedging happening. "Hey. Duke Malhazar. I wish..."
I'm not sure if I'm in anyone's threatened spaces at my current elevation, but if so, I'll cast defensively.
Casting on the defensive, DC 25: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (1) + 20 = 21
Oh, hell no to that.
Action point: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 2) = 7
"That you don't hear any more wishes from your allies!" And with that, he snaps his fingers three time in rapid succession, making a semicircle in the air with that hand. Three small scale sonic booms come out of his fingers, rushing towards the efreeti. And towards Zyrxog.
Casting Extended Deafening Song Bolt, one at Malhazar, two at Mr. Z. Using my last AP to save the slot.
Malhazar: Ranged touch+BAB+Dex+haste+inspire courage+good hope: 1d20 + 11 + 6 + 1 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 11 + 6 + 1 + 3 + 2 = 29
Damage: 3d10 ⇒ (3, 7, 9) = 19
Rounds deafened: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 3) = 4
Zyrxog:Ranged touch+BAB+Dex+haste+inspire courage+good hope: 1d20 + 11 + 6 + 1 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 11 + 6 + 1 + 3 + 2 = 37
Damage: 3d10 ⇒ (2, 5, 10) = 17
Rounds deafened: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 5) = 6
Zyrxog:Ranged touch+BAB+Dex+haste+inspire courage+good hope: 1d20 + 11 + 6 + 1 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 11 + 6 + 1 + 3 + 2 = 40
Damage: 3d10 ⇒ (6, 5, 7) = 18
Rounds deafened: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 5) = 8
Zyrxog, of course, is totally deaf at the moment and immune to verbal taunts. So, as the spell lets fly, Eben relays a message through Forzamele straight into the illithid's brain.
Lowri Chau wishes to thank you for your hospitality.
Standard action: casting on the defensive. Swift action, none, used an immediate already. Maintaining Dance of 23 Steps. Taking a 5 foot step northeast, maintaining my current elevation.
Eben's AC is 35 while Dance of 23 Steps is active.
Haste lasts 11 rounds on everyone.
Good Hope lasts about 136 rounds on everyone.

Actually, on reflection, I'll save that second AP and just let my 5th level spell slots go. Either I die before I get to cast it anyway, or else this combat is fulcrum shifting and it won't be needed. Or both, of course.

Tanith 'Kordson' Creed |

Tanith intercepts the guisarme attack with a quick blow from his poleaxe.
AoO vs Devil: 1d20 + 21 + 1 + 3 + 2 - 3 ⇒ (5) + 21 + 1 + 3 + 2 - 3 = 29
Damage: 1d10 + 13 + 3 + 3 + 2 + 9 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 13 + 3 + 3 + 2 + 9 + 7 = 38

The devil grabs his guisarme too swiftly and easily parries Tanith's slash.
Duke Malhazar's laugh slips away as the bolt strikes him, and his eyes widen in shock and outrage. "You little rodent!" he howls.
Zyrxog's gaze shoots to Malhazar, and his eyes glitter with concentration, as if he's already composing his wish to the Duke.
But no one will ever know what the wish would have been, because the second and third bolts were aimed for him.
The mind flayer staggers back. His eyes fly to Eben, to the party, with an... uncommonly human expression. Surprise flits across his face, then puzzlement. His clawed hand moves jerkily to the two bolts of eldritch energy crackling where they have embedded into his skull. A trail of ichor trickles into his eye.
~ I do not... I was... ~
And Zyrxog falls in a heap on the ground, ichor pooling beneath him. Whatever secrets of the Age of Worms the mind flayer had learned, and whatever sinister devices the mind flayer had planned for those secrets, have died with him.
The efreeti glances over. "Oh. Well, at least that's something," he says too-loudly.
Round 3: Malhazar the Efreeti/Cauchemar Nightmare
As the nightmare trots over to join the displacer beasts, the still-staggered efreeti looses three quick scorching rays at Eben. Then he turns invisible, though his position remains rather obvious.
Scorching Rays (touch AC): 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (12) + 22 = 341d20 + 22 ⇒ (20) + 22 = 421d20 + 22 ⇒ (20) + 22 = 42
Crits: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (17) + 22 = 391d20 + 22 ⇒ (20) + 22 = 42
Damage: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 3, 1) = 108d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 6, 6, 5, 6, 3, 1) = 298d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 6, 5, 4, 4, 4, 5) = 36
Make sure to roll for your mirror images, but my goodness, that's good mileage on a throwaway quickened spell.
Round 3: Farrukh and Cuetzpalli are up!

Eben MacTeague |

mirror image: 1d2 ⇒ 2
mirror image: 1d2 ⇒ 1
The second of the three rays eliminates Eben's last image, which goes up in a dramatic display of flames and smoke and the smell of burnt sugar. Eben takes the other two, and the scent of roasted pork also joins the air, creating a bizarrely appetizing sweet-and-sour effect.
46 damage total.

Cuetzpalli |

Cuetzpalli turns and propels himself toward the devil troubling his friends. He hacks at the fiend furiously, hoping to put a quick end to it.
5' step towards the devil.
