Male Human Cleric

The following is the discussion thread for the Riflemen and Friends PbP campaign.

Hey! Geoff here.

Grand Lodge

Druid 5 || HP 43/43 || AC 18/12 Tch/17 FF || F+8 R+4 W+10 || CMB +4 CMD 15 || Perception +14 || Init +1

This is a Dwarven Druid I [Geoff] am playing in a PbP Raveloft game on these boards, in case you are curious and bored. I'm really proud of this PC.

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Cleric

I look forward running this for you. :D

I can't seem to find isolated pregens for We Be Goblins, so I can give descriptions and direct you to the free download which contains them (and I'll leave it to the player to keep this spoiler-free).

Reta Bigbad (Female Fighter 1)
Chuffy Lickwound (Male Rogue 1)
Poog of Zarongel (Male Cleric 1)
Mogmurch (Male Alchemist 1)

Be thinking about who you'd like to take with you on this adventure.

I'd prefer to play Chuffy or Mogmurch, but any of these demented little creeps would be fine by me.

I'm a cleric kind of guy at the core of it. So, I'll take Poog if no one else has a claim.

Female Goblin Fighter/3 | HP 30/30 | AC 20, tch 14, ff 17 | Fort 5, Ref 4, Will 2 | Init 3 | Perc 10

Not just because she's the girl, but also because it will fit into my characters development I would definitely like Reta Bigbad.

Cleric 3 || HP 23 || AC 17/13 Tch/15 FF || F+5 R+6 W+6 || CMB +1 CMD 13 || Perception +2 || Init +6

Checking in. I found a statted out Poog on Mythweaver let me know if the info needs tweaked, as I cannot find an official pdf.

Cleric 3 || HP 23 || AC 17/13 Tch/15 FF || F+5 R+6 W+6 || CMB +1 CMD 13 || Perception +2 || Init +6

Oh. I also found a Hero Lab sheet for Poog. I will add the channel and cleric spells to my profile later. Fire bolt and burning hands as cleric domain powers/spells... muhahahahaha!

The following is a PDF containing only the pre-generated characters; I've added a link to the top for everybody's convenience.

Poog's sub-bar is a very good "best practice" for how to handle very common stats; this will make it very easily for me (or any GM) to adjudicate things in battle very quickly, and also helps the players quickly assess the abilities of their allies.

So far, we have three players checked in (waiting on Luke to join the party), two characters selected (Reta and Poog are good to go). I'll be on the lookout for pre-made Paizo-ready goblins to make the character sheet process that much easier. Please stand-by.

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Cleric

Chuffy
Poog
Reta

(I cannot vouch for the accuracy for the equipment of these, as these players may have picked things up along the way)

No luck on a viable Mogmurch, sorry.

For those of you considering playing conservatively, the following from the PFS Organized Play supplement document should provide some guidance:

Paizo wrote:
Since all PCs in this adventure are pregenerated characters, no conditions (including death) carry beyond the end of a module to the real PCs to whom the module’s Chronicle sheet is applied. Likewise, any wealth spent or resources expended during the course of the adventure are considered unspent upon the module’s completion.

Have fun!

Cleric 3 || HP 23 || AC 17/13 Tch/15 FF || F+5 R+6 W+6 || CMB +1 CMD 13 || Perception +2 || Init +6

Poog can burn something now? What Poog should burn first?

Alchemist 3 | AC 20 touch 17 FF 15 CMD 15 | HP 23/23 | Fort +6 Ref +7 Will +0 | Init +4 | Perc +5

Mogmurch narrows his eyes behind his mask. "Leave burninations to me, preacherman!"

Luke, if you go to your account, you can create a new message board alias that will let you pick a name and picture for Chuffy (you might have to get creative with the name, as Paizo requires each one be unique, but the WBG picture is in there if you search for either Chuffy or sort by Goblin pics).

Female Goblin Fighter/3 | HP 30/30 | AC 20, tch 14, ff 17 | Fort 5, Ref 4, Will 2 | Init 3 | Perc 10

Loudly, "It can be time for smash now? Spotol and I love smash!"

Take a peak over at the gameplay tab; everyone's dying to meet Reta!

Let me know if I'm hogging the spot light. I'm just kind of sitting around the house today and the wife is out, so I've got some time on my hands.

Male Human

At least some of my posts apparently didn't post over the weekend. I was up at Stonewall and between weird coverage and failure to bring a charger for my phone with me something wasn't connecting right. Please bear with me and I will attempt to catch up later this evening, preferably on a real computer with a real keyboard.

Liberty's Edge

Sounds good Luke. This is mostly exposition before we get into the meat of things.

Not sure if I did the slug thing right, but one of my rolls was so poor I figure it doesn't matter.

I'm about to resolve them. :P

I'm at work until 10:30 tonight due to a schedule swap, Je-rad entertain me!

Is Chuffy proficient with the Dogslicer? I can never keep the Goblin weapon equivalents straight. I believe it's a short sword so he is proficient.

So, here's the interesting thing... dogslicers are a martial light weapon. Rogues are not inherently proficient with them. GOBLINS are not inherently proficient with them (you normally have to drop "skilled", which gives you massive bonuses to Ride and Stealth). Looking at Chuffy's character sheet, he's got a dogslicer equipped with no penalties, but also the ride and stealth scores to reflect having the "skilled" racial trait...

So, I'm guessing since all of the martial characters are carrying one and are not taking non-proficiency penalties for wielding it (see also Poog), in the spirit of the scenario I'll say you are proficient...

Weird stuff, though. :P

I will be on the road this afternoon and evening and will be unable to post for a while. I will check on the boards when I settle into my hotel room tonight.

Conversely, I will be in a situation tomorrow (Friday) wherein I will have a lot of time on my hands, so I will likely be checking this board more than is healthy.

Saturday is a 5k and then Chuffy and I are playing with our Rise of the Runelords group in a marathon setting... so probably another light day for posting.

A quick note: I'll be in Bluefield/Princeton this weekend, starting tomorrow (Friday) afternoon. I'll have internet access and should be able to make updates, but there could be some delays. I do not anticipate any major gaps in the adventure.

Dark Archive

That works for me with trying on dresses tomorrow for William's wedding and working and Origins prepping I will be around but a little bit of a break works ok for me.

Zarongel's Faith Lubrication(R). For those times when you are dared to penetrate a barbed wire maze.

With Z-Lube's patented snag-guard technology, you'll be sure your ears are safe, no matter how wide your head... no matter how rusty the barb.

Male Human

Side note, oughtn't Chuffy's disgusting pustules have granted him a second save against the Slug stuff?

Dark Archive

wow....just....wow....

You a message board non-conformist, Chuffy?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Also, Catherine Zeta Jones Dips Beneath the Rusty Ear Biter

Maybe? Not really sure what that means.

I'm just poking a little fun at you, because you aren't posting using the PbP standard of bold talk, blue ooc, etc.

Male Human

I'm new to the medium.

OK. So that was a session of pathfinder that lasted just under 12 hours. My brain feels mushy.

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Cleric

Our first combat! Congrats guys!

So, I've experienced combat in several different ways with PbP, and I'd like to try what I felt was the most effective method... trying to keep it as story-driven as possible.

At the top description, you will find that there is now a battle map that I hope to keep updated round-by-round for your convenience. For example, you should see two goblins affected by web, and a spider adjacent to Reta.

Describe your action and feel free to make the relevant rolls. Unless you state specifically where and how things occur, I am going to assume "safest, easiest way possible that doesn't hurt allies". If there is a need to be specific, please do so with the OOC tags.

As a player, I would also do the following to keep things clean:

"Pauline focuses divine energy into her tekko-kagi, steps up to the monster, and slashes fiercely with both claws."

Mechanics:
Swift action to give weapon +1 bonus, five-foot step, and two-weapon fighting.

Combats can take a significant amount of time, and resolving rounds in this way makes the combats go by much quicker.

"Safest, easiest way possible that doesn't hurt allies?" What are we, ungoblins?

Will the GM recap each round in Narrative fashion before going on to the next round? That makes it so that we don't have to post in narrative order, and the GM can resolve timing intricacies via one big summary post featuring the results of all of the actions.

That is my intent. If I do my job right, at the end of each round it should be very clear what happened to everybody and keep things in order. :)

Liberty's Edge

Male Human Cleric

David: You can go ahead and post your action regardless of who's ahead of you in initiative. Depending on whether it's dependent on someone else's action, I can either hold, take some liberties to make it work after actions have occurred, or perform verbatim.

My intent is to resolve combat rounds as soon as everyone has posted or within 24 hours, whichever comes first. If you want to hold out pending other people's post, you could, but posters beware. :P

It appears that Mogmurch's attack modifiers are one higher than they should be. Am I missing something? He doesn't have a BAB yet.

4 (Dex) + 1 (Size) + 1 (Throw Anything) = 6. It checks out.
