Its "A" Dungeon (Inactive)

Game Master Terquem

Thrown through, okay more like stepped through, a mysterious portal the adventurers find themselves on another world looking for a way back home, or a good taco stand, whichever comes first...

Rolling for Pantalone Lock DC, Table IIa: 1d20 ⇒ 4

The DC ends up being 19, and Darmo does not manage to unlock it with skill.

Male Halfling Rogue (filcher) 2

Thank the gods it wasn't high enough to jam.

Female Human Rogue (Unchained) 4; HP: 27/27; AC: 18, FF: 13, T: 15; F: +2, R: +8, W: +2; Init: +4; Perception: +8

Check: 1d20 ⇒ 1

male

Ahahaha "passage continues 60' no change"

Female Human Rogue (Unchained) 4; HP: 27/27; AC: 18, FF: 13, T: 15; F: +2, R: +8, W: +2; Init: +4; Perception: +8

Figures. This'll be the longest, emptiest dungeon.

male

Could be, who wants to roll the next check ? - and since it will be the end of turn 3, check for a wandering monster, d6, 1 or 2. The four of you are 120 feet to the north.

Female Human Fighter (Cad) 2

Monstar!: 1d6 ⇒ 6

Female Human Fighter (Cad) 2

And what's ahead? 1d20 ⇒ 5

male

unbelievable! 60 more feet of straight boring passageway, are you tired yet?

and 40 minutes have gone by

Female Human Rogue (Unchained) 4; HP: 27/27; AC: 18, FF: 13, T: 15; F: +2, R: +8, W: +2; Init: +4; Perception: +8

This must be adventurer purgatory.

Female Human Fighter (Cad) 2

The neverending tunnel and the snarky fighter! DOOOOOM.

Female Human Rogue (Unchained) 4; HP: 27/27; AC: 18, FF: 13, T: 15; F: +2, R: +8, W: +2; Init: +4; Perception: +8

I'm wondering when Darmo will start going through "loot withdrawals".

Female Human Fighter (Cad) 2

Shoulda brought a leash!

male

I'm starting to look forward to someone rolling a "Dead End" now, haha.

so, 180 feet of straight, 10' wide passage, no doors, no chambers, no tricks or traps, anyone want to risk rolling for the next check?

Male Halfling Rogue (filcher) 2

Hoping for Something (Anything): 1d20 ⇒ 20

NATURAL 20. Has to get us SOMETHING.

male

That, according to Table I, is a wnadering monster -

Edit: The monster is not surprised!

Let's determine the encounter distance (this is the distance at which the party has the first opportunity to spot the monster)

What Direction: 1d6 ⇒ 3

The Monster(s) are Ahead of the part 1-3, or behind the party 4-6

and are How Far Away: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 x 10 feet

Now we need another d20, to determine the difficulty of the encounter, and a d100 to select the type of monster.

1d20 ⇒ 2
1d100 ⇒ 8

Phenomenal, getting those low rolls out of my system.

male

With Darmo ahead of the party

please choose 10' to 25' as the distance ahead of Cat, for setting up this encounter, and make a stealth check to establish how well hidden you are

The party has encountered a Wandering Monster. It is 70’ ahead, so beyond the current range of the Normal and Dim light of the Dancing Lights Spell (it, whatever it is, already knows you are coming, because you have a light source).

The d20 indicates Monster Table VIIa (Easy), CR < APL

And the monster type is Aberration – group

So it is going to be…3 Grindylow

Stealthy Grindylow: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (2) + 14 = 16

"Listen, do you smell something?" - Egon S.

Female Human Fighter (Cad) 2

"Its a thing! Lets kill it and take its stuff!" :D

Pantalone charges ahead before remembering that he is not mister front line, and instead nocks an arrow.

male

The poopy side of PbP - waiting for a critical player to post, *lesigh*

Male Halfling Rogue (filcher) 2

Sorry! I'll post Stealth and Perception rolls in gameplay.

male

I don’t want to go all “technical” or anything, but

Let’s say that there was 70’ from Darmo’s initial position to the Sneaky Grindylows, and

Darmo moved 10 feet closer, putting him 20 feet in front of cat, and at the edge of the Dim light area -

The Grindylow moved ten feet closer -

And then everyone spotted everyone else –

(There is 50 feet of corridor between Darmo and the Sneaky Grindylows, 70 feet to 75 feet to the rest of the party)

Initiative was established
Pantalone: 25
Cat: 21
Darmo: 20
Sneaky grindylow: 13
Jerrica: 4

Round 1
Pantalone fires an arrow, and kills one of the monsters (their AC, flat footed, is 13, they have 5 hp)

Pantalone:
Before you declare your action, if you need to do so, for round 2, roll a d8 – on a 1, your Dancing Light Spell winks out, temporarily plunging everyone into darkness. I am saying here that you have cast the spell at some time in the last ten rounds (one minute duration) so there is a chance time is up. Should combat go to round 3, or beyond, the chance for the spell ending goes up by one each round.

Diabolic and cruel: but reasonable enough. I would make this counter-offer: I believe that I would have a sense of how much longer the spell will last (it's a minute, after all, not piRsquared hours or anything) so let the d8 represent how many rounds remain, rather than making it utterly random. Though, random does suit the flavor. Your call, I'll go quietly either way.

Anyway, first thing next round, I'll roll a d8.

male

How about a compromise? On a 1, it goes out immediatly, otherwise, you know you have that many rounds before it does.

Female Human Fighter (Cad) 2

Just letting you all know, tomorrow, I'll be getting on a plane to the US. So there will be a huge gap of time where I will most likely not be online. I might check in from Beijing, but I can't guarantee it. Also, I'll be in the states for about a week, and I'm sure I'll have internet at various points, but I'll also be moving stuff and visiting friends, so I might not be available quite as much as I have been. Aside from my day in the Beijing Airport I should manage once a day just the same though!

male

My Daughter regularly travels from the US to Cambodia, so I get how that can be an upset to regular communication. Anyway - Travel safe!

Safe travels, Cat. Keep an eye out for a Mwangi called Ka'ta. I think she's on the same flight.
Terquem: eminently reasonable.

Male Halfling Rogue (filcher) 2

I think a mildly crazy druid may also be joining you, Cat, so be careful in that company!

Female Human Rogue (Unchained) 4; HP: 27/27; AC: 18, FF: 13, T: 15; F: +2, R: +8, W: +2; Init: +4; Perception: +8

My life is regularly hectic, even more so since my apartment got broken into last week, so I completely understand.

Male Halfling Rogue (filcher) 2

"I swear it wasn't me!"

On a serious note, though, ouch. That's gotta be rough.

Female Human Rogue (Unchained) 4; HP: 27/27; AC: 18, FF: 13, T: 15; F: +2, R: +8, W: +2; Init: +4; Perception: +8

They took the tv and my laptop. I'm still miffed about it, but I'll live. Got the tv replaced already and the laptop tomorrow. Lost a few pictures but not much more than that.

Female Human Fighter (Cad) 2

Eeeeeek! I'm so sorry!

Female Human Rogue (Unchained) 4; HP: 27/27; AC: 18, FF: 13, T: 15; F: +2, R: +8, W: +2; Init: +4; Perception: +8

At least it happened when I still had money from my tax return and they didn't hurt my dog.

So sorry to hear that Jerrica. Glad that no one was hurt.

male

periodic Check, start of turn 7

Please Not Straight Please Not Straight Please Not Straight: 1d20 ⇒ 9

Oh Noes! Its a Door!

Somebody roll d20 to determine if it is one, two, or three doors?

Female Human Fighter (Cad) 2

Doors!: 1d20 ⇒ 5

male

Doors occur in a thirty foot section of passageway
A “5” is

1 Door – on the left (1-6), on the right (7-12), ahead (13-20), if ahead passage ends, if not passageway extends another 30 feet

Type of Door Table II (d20)
Type of door -

Die Result (sub menus, d20)
1-5 Simple Wooden, (locked 1-10) (from this side 1-15), (trapped 1-4)
6-9 Good Wooden, (locked 1-8) (from this side 1-12), (trapped 1-6)
10-12 Strong Wooden, (locked 1-6) (from this side 1-10), (trapped 1-8)
13-15 Stone, (locked 1-4)(from this side 1-18), (trapped 1-10)
16-17 Iron (locked 1-5) (from this side 1-10), (trapped 1-12)
18-19 Portcullis, Wooden (locked 1-10), (trapped 1-8)
20 Portcullis, Metal (locked 1-10), (Trapped 1-6)

Female Human Rogue (Unchained) 4; HP: 27/27; AC: 18, FF: 13, T: 15; F: +2, R: +8, W: +2; Init: +4; Perception: +8

Left, Right or Straight?: 1d20 ⇒ 10

Male Halfling Rogue (filcher) 2

Door type: 1d20 ⇒ 10

male

on the right!

Is it Locked?: 1d20 ⇒ 15 NO
Is the lock on this side?: 1d20 ⇒ 3 doesn't matter
Is it trapped?: 1d20 ⇒ 13No, but Darmo should check anyway, cause, well, cause I could be lying

and for crying out loud, the passageway keeps going straight! The passageway is now 360 feet long, measured from the starting chamber on the W

roll d20 on a 1-10 the hinges are visible, and the door will open toward the Party.

Female Human Fighter (Cad) 2

Of course it does...

Female Human Rogue (Unchained) 4; HP: 27/27; AC: 18, FF: 13, T: 15; F: +2, R: +8, W: +2; Init: +4; Perception: +8

I bet if we go back, the rest of the passages will dead-end and the we'll just have the locked gate and this endless hallway.

male

Can I see the hinges?: 1d20 ⇒ 16

No, the door pushes inward, add a +2 to any strength check to force open the door.

Doors thart are not locked are always stuck

Female Human Fighter (Cad) 2

Strength!: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Cat finishes stowing the monies and hurries to catch up to Darmo and try to open the door.

Behind the Door is...: 1d20 ⇒ 19

male

It's a room! Of course you don't know that yet, the door is still stuck shut.

Size of the room: 1d20 ⇒ 6

Contents of the room is: 1d20 ⇒ 18

Number of exits from the room are: 1d20 ⇒ 16

Sorry, posted in the wrong thread! Blah!

Male Halfling Rogue (filcher) 2

Hey, just a check-in to let people know that I'm going to be traveling for the next few days--I won't be home until Wednesday night, most likely (EDT). I'm hoping to have some access to the internet during my travels, but I may not, so bot me as needed, or find a reason for me to fall into the background for the time being as needed! Thanks.
