Elyas trows his own spell into the same spot as Lyndis as soon as the glittering dust settles. a brilliant flash of holy light erupts in the area, washing over the smaller wolf, the giant wolf and the two archers.

Annelise Wykes |

Weeks of living in this forest without any of the trappings of civilisation, with tangles in her hair that she's grimly afraid will never come out and dirt that's so deeply ingrained in her skin that even Prestidigitation is of limited use, have left Annelise in a vile mood.
She's almost grateful for the distant sound of combat and has been moving as hastily as she dared towards the cry of voices, both the Goblin language (which she never troubled herself to learn) and the sound of more welcome speech. Emerging through the thick underbrush, she sees a dirt track running through the forest and a vicious fight underway. Some of the combatants she recognises from her time in Phaendar, but others are unknown to her - or at least, unrecognisable. She knows that she herself is not currently looking as she used to.
Moving hastily forwards, she lets her rage spill out as she taps upon a source of magic she has not used in many a year: anger at her present circumstances, and fury at what happened to the town she used to live in. Her face twists and her eyes seem almost to cloud over for a moment before the ground ahead bubbles and roils, giving off a sulfurous smoke and a brimstone haze. From this emerges a roiling wave of flesh. Amid the fatty surge wriggle half-formed limbs and a dripping tumorous face.
It burbles and lashes out at the nearest enemy - and for the first time in a long while, Annelise feels indefinably better. She gives a savage grin.
Moving 30 ft forward and using Summon Monster II to call an Augmented Lemure (stats in the spoiler below). The spell has a range of 35 feet, so I'm hoping to drop it directly into combat with the dire wolf - opposite Charles to get a flanking bonus.

Lyndis' eagles attack the goblin as he closes in, while she shoots a bolt of acid at the dire wolf, missing as it moves quickly. One of the eagles scrapes a claw along the goblin.
Closing in Charles strikes at the dire wolf, cutting along its side.
Carthas closes, drinking an extract to prepare himself while Nyakala tries to blind the dire wolf. The dire wolf squints for a bit, shaking its head before it seems to shale the spell off.

Still using the undergrowth for cover, Annelise moves forward carefully. The power that she has tapped into makes her giddy and light-headed, but she tamps down on the urge to use it again. It is not infinite after all, and this looks like a serious fight. Caution would be the wise option for now.

Ear-Piercing Scream (DC 15): 2d6 ⇒ (2, 6) = 8 plus dazed 1 round on a failure.
She then turns towards the unknown woman who seems to be the source of the deformed creature attacking the direwolf. Advancing slightly as her mouth reforms, she calls out, "Who are you, and why are you here?"

Annelise Wykes |

Giddy with a power that she has not used for some years, Annelise gives a lopsided, possibly drunk, grin in reply. "Who am I? I'm the one who's using every means at her disposal to punish these whoresons for burning my home! Who the **** are you?!"
I can't see from Nyakala's background whether she's from Phaendar. If she is, then she might well recognise Annelise as the local healer (although she has never shown any signs of being able to call on devils until now). Same goes for the other PCs - if you're from Phaendar, you might recognise her despite the weeks she has spent in the wilderness and/or her current demeanour.

Sorry for the delay, extra long weekend backpacking trip messes up my schedule more than I expect every time I do one.

Nyakala |

Nyakala spent some time in Phaendar years ago, but I don't think she would have known Annelise well enough to recognize her now.
Doesn't seem particularly stable, but at least that instability is directed in a useful direction, Nyakala thinks as she decides how to respond to Annelise. After a moment she replies, "Just someone who decided to help the people of Phaendar get some revenge. A group you might be part of, it seems?"
While she talks Nyakala moves towards the nearby pair of surrounded enemies until she has a clearer shot at them. She slides a puff of darkness off the back of one hand and uses it to lift a rock from the forest floor and remotely hurl the projectile at the hobgoblin scout.

Seeing the blood fly off his sword on the follow through Charles laughs deep and loud. Grinning from ear to ear he points his sword at the further off enemies before moving quickly in their direction, clearly ready for more hobgoblin blood on his silver blade. Hearing Annelise speaking to Nyakala he spares her a glance and calls out.
"Whatever the motivation and whoever you are it is time we put these invaders down. Welcome to the fight!"

Carthas Brambleroad |

Carthas would likely recognize Annelise, since he's an itinerant healer in Nirmathas who comes through Phaendar to resupply. However, in his current mutagen state, he might not recognize her, since he takes an Int penalty.
Carthas moved closer to the remaining hobgoblin and the wolf to finish them off before pursuing others.

Nyakala narrows her eyes as she notices Annelise vanish, but decides that the new arrival isn't enough of a danger to justify focusing on trying to find her. Instead Nyakala moves to help Charles deal with the last two goblinoids outside the camp, taking advantage of her magically enhanced speed to race along the path and find cover behind a tree on the other side.

:: Lamashan 8 - Morning - Chernasardo Forest ::
@Elyas.... that's Lirosa haha. I will assume you don't attack her.
The overwhelming amount of combat ability remaining brings about the end of the fight. With Charles and Nyakala closing on the two fleeing goblinoids, and the wolf being slain, things look grim for the advance force that tried to deal with the group. A couple more moments of sparing and the last two fall dead.
Lorne, "Gather round everyone, and I shall bless you all with Erastils might." Lorne closes his eyes and concentrates, and you feel a wash of healing energy envelope you. Everyone heals 9 VP
Channel for VP: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Channel for VP: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Kining looks around at the scene, "Kalleb, Imogen, Taerus, your out for the rest of this. Your injuries are too severe. Take what you can from these bodies and make a camp nearby for us to fall back to." Kining looks to Elyas and Lorne, the only two other Council members here, "What is out plan now. I doubt htey will come out again."
The above has taken 4 combat rounds. If any of you would like to simply push into the camp you may do so and the militia will follow after their 4 round delay. However, if you push forward then you will likely not get any healing from Lorne.

Lyndis Zylkalyn |

Lyndis turns to her eagles.
"Fly above the hobgoblin camp, attack anyone who tries to leave."
The eagles likely have 2 or 3 minutes left
She then gets near Lorne for the channeled energy and leans into a tree, waiting for the next plan.

Carthas Brambleroad |

Once the wolf falls, Carthas turns and begins chasing after the fleeing hobgoblins, caught in the throes of his mutagen.
However many rounds it takes to finish the wolf, I'll chase after fleeing hobgoblins after that.

Charles McQueen |

Charles trots over to the group once the last two fall. He takes a moment to wipe off his blade and sighs when the healing energies wash over him.
"Good to get some action against those bastards. Once your all ready lets push on to that camp. Time to end this group."
It only takes a moment or two for Charles to get anxious to continue the battle and take it to the hobgoblins. Clearly he is itching for a fight.

Annelise Wykes |

With no enemies no in plain view, Annelise lets the lemure disappear, which it does with a bubbling leer. She gives a shiver as the vile thing departs, and she feels regret at having given into the temptation to call on it in the first place.
My invisibility has a duration of minutes rather than rounds so it stays active.
She moves over to listen in on the discussion, possibly startling one or two of them as her voice sounds from the empty air. "Is a frontal assault sensible? We've dealt them some real damage, we can fall back and wait to see if they come after us. We know where they are now, they're not going anywhere."
The dark summoning magic that she was using has dissipated, so her voice sounds rather more normal than the last time she spoke. If she were visible, the group would notice that her eyes have returned to their usual coloration as well.

Elyas Tamran |

We have the advantage for now, and have removed a number of their troops. Scarvinous is still inside, though. we need to end him before he has a chance to retreat. he will answer for killing our people. we should press them now.

Nyakala |

"I have to agree with Elyas," Nyakala chimes in. "We have no reason to believe Scarvinious will emerge to come after us when he hasn't done so already. Now that we've weakened them we should attack the camp."

Charles McQueen |

"In my experience once someone bleeds you have the advantage. A quick slice on the cheek leads to a silver longsword thought the hearts. Its all about the positioning of the feet..... Never-mind not important."
He looks around concerned that is is the most motivated by blood but deides he is just the most aggressive.
"Lets just go kill them, the bloody nose will only hold them for so long."

DM Rostam |

:: Lamashan 8 - Morning - Chernasardo Forest ::
Sorry Carthas, I had meant to imply that the goblinoids were dead already.
Having decided to attack the camp, everyone going on groups up and gets ready to continue the fight. Looking at the state of the camp, those by the front gate have fallen back but the scouts on the top of the hill remain in position.
The tokens in the trees are just there to show they've fallen back. Everyone make a round of actions, this would be Round 15 of combat having taken a 3 round breather to catch come channel energy and decide to push forward. I will roll initiative again when combat starts.

Nyakala |

Nyakala races northwest, taking cover behind the tree near the hobgoblins' ramp.

Annelise Wykes |

Since the decision looks to be unanimous, Annelise doesn't argue further, instead using the time to boost her defences with a tap from her wand and a scroll.
Mage Armour: 1 hour duration. Shield: 10 rounds duration. AC now 19. Still invisible
She then moves after the others, following silently and unseen.

Carthas Brambleroad |

Ah, okay. I misread that. Thank you, GM. In that case, my token is perfectly situated for what 1 round of actions would have done for moving me, so we'll just say it happens this round.
Carthas, having received a bit of healing, moves with the others to help attack the hobgoblin camp.

Charles advances in a very straight fashion looking to close the distance but stay behind a tree for the moment. As he takes his first step he speaks to the others.
"Those who fight up close on me. Lets take this to the bastards house."

Elyas Tamran |

Elyas moves up with the group this time, ready to offer healing and melee support once the fight begins again.

DM Rostam |

:: Lamashan 8 - Late Morning - Chernasardo Forest ::
As you advance on the camp, you hear a crash from behind you and two more people rush out of the trees. You recognize them as Misty Evans, a local hunter, and Jord Threll a lumberjack.
Jord, out of breath, "We finally caught you Annelise. We got stuck in some trees. Looks like somethings happening here though." Jord grips his axe tighter, ready to get in a fight.
Misty, "Whatever it is, lets kill some gobbos!"
The rest of the militia seem happy that two more townsfolk have shown up, and move into position with the rest of the group.
As you approach, Charles, Lyndis, and Nyakala can see a decent number of hobgoblin scouts, the alchemist, the Wolf Knight, and Scarvinious moving towards the ladder and climbing it. The Wolf Knight is quaffing from a bottle and waving his hand in front of his face.
Now to explain some dotted lines, since they're relevant now!
Red Dotted Line - if you are in the lower ravine area you must be to the right of the red dotted line to shoot more than 5ft past the edge of the top lip of the ravine.
Blue dotted lines - The blue dotted lines demark the 'military crests' of the slope. You can shoot across 1 of the blue lines without issue. If you shoot across 2 targets get partial cover or can not be seen when prone. Shooting across 3 targets get full cover.

Lyndis Zylkalyn |

Lyndis makes a quick run to the next tree where she can get cover, the eagles following her and perching atop the trees.

Nyakala |

I believe Scarvinious is the hairy one in the middle of the cluster of goblinoids and the alchemist is the one holding a bomb to the north.
Nyakala steps out from behind the tree and advances a few steps, watching as Scarvinious and his troops emerge from the stairs. For a third time she sloughs off part of one hand to form a swirling ball of darkness which she hurls towards the goblinoids. The cloud targets Scarvinious as it descends, briefly surrounding his head in an attempt to blind him and return a glimpse of his thoughts to Nyakala.
Blindness (DC 16), amplified with mindtouch.

DM Rostam |

I'm going to wait until tomorrow to update. Kinda busy. But here are some notes.
@Annelise - Nyakala's descriptions are correct. I've outlined both of them in a grey to help identify them more easily.
@Nyakala - I'm sorry, but I can't find a 140' distance between you and Scarvinious, all of them are 145'. Blindness/Deafness is 100' +10/level so 140' is the max range. Let me know if you have something that alters that OR please draw the line you found that goes 140'. Or take another action since I'm not updating today anyway.

Elyas Tamran |

Elyas moves along the edge of the ravine, following after the rest of the group. seeing the goblins coming up the slope he doesn't want to find himself on the low ground and opts for the long way around

Nyakala |

Looks like I miscounted the squares, thanks for catching that. Nyakala will move another 5 ft forward before casting then.

The scouts surge forward, firing a volley of arrows at Nyakala, their only real target. Most of the arrows are deflected off her shield spell, but one strikes true. Nyakala feels the force of the shot through her magic as a bruise starts to bloom on her ribs. Nyakala takes 12 damage.
