Sorry for my absence. Father-in-law had a stroke (seems to be much improved now...), plus night shifts over the weekend meant I was discombobulated. Will try to catch up over the next day or so...
GM IronDesk
Very sorry to hear that. Best wishes to you and your family.
Morgtii
Happy birthday!
Thank you! So, Morgtii's all leveled up.
Highlight reel:+8 hp (I think this is correct? D10 hit die and 14 Con.)
Scout specialization (Stealth as class skill, I and all allies affected by one of my drills or auras adds my Int mod (+2) to their Stealth checks).
Bravery
Quick question, can't remember if we already discussed it or not- I believe we'll hit 3rd level, am I allowed to pull feats from other 3pp products? Specifically looking at RGG's Genius Guide to Bravery Feats, which I intended the Battle Lord to synergize with (I wrote them both).
GM IronDesk
The answer is ... Maybe. Run them by me on a case by case basis
GM IronDesk
Morgtii ended up with a total of 336gp ( including what was already listed on your character sheet). A tally can be found by following the gear and loot link in my profile header. I'd recommend using it oto keep track of money and equipment - way easier than editing your profile every time you fire an arrow.
A composite longbow (+1 str) is 200gp
A masterwork longbow runs 375gp
a masterwork composite longbow (+1 str) is 500gp

Just so we're clear, what's our objective in the bog? As far as I can gather, we're after a book, which is hidden in a lair of... Something.
They're called Thawn, and it sounds like they're your classic Dunwich-esque horrors.
Anyway, personally I think we should explore something like this, making sure to search through all of the stuff.
That way, if we get to a point where we have to high-tail out of there, we'll always have a fast way home through explored terrain, and if we have to go back for a second trip, we won't have to waste much time in terrain we've already explored.

To summarize:
The party was recruited by Sillion, a scholar and wizard of some repute to investigate the theft of an artifact. The Book of Terniel is said to grant whoever reads it their hearts desire- though rarely in they way they anticipate - and has been blamed for much calamity through the ages.
The party determines that the book was stolen by a secret cult of demon worshippers and sets out to track them down and regain the book. Along the way they encounter other factions also seeking the book, including a vexing necromancer and his undead horde, and a group of degenerate giants called the thawn. Eventually the necromancer and the cult Master are both defeated and sent fleeing minionless into the wilds, but not before the thawn gain possession of the book and take it back to their hidden city deep within the heart of the Fetid Bog. The party is now courageously heading into the swamp to liberate the book from the giants before they can figure out how to open it ( Sillion has the only known key) and read it, for hatever the greatest wish of a race of evil warped giants may be, it cannot be good for the people o Eastdale.

K so someone needs to step up and make a decision. Do we need to nominate a shot caller so we don't run into this problem again and again?
GM IronDesk
@Kee-rik: yes, surprise round grants you a move action or a stnd action. You may also choose to charge, albeit it at half the normal move rate (so 1x instead of 2x move rate)
@all: will bot remaining characters that haven't posted by tomorrow.
GM IronDesk
@ Aedron: Armored kilt reads:
When you add an armored kilt to a suit of light armor, the set counts as medium armor. Likewise, a kilt and medium armor counts as heavy armor. Adding an armored kilt to heavy armor has no effect.
So armored kilt and chain shirt yields a move rate of 20 - I've moved Aedron two squares back on the map to reflect this

Anyone want to take a stab at HOW the stock hobgoblin(ftr1) in the bestiary has 17HP?!?
ave 1d10=5 +3 for con +3 for toughness = 11. even maxed hd only yields 16
GM IronDesk
I always though max at first was just a PC thing. Huh. Ok so next hobgoblins you' guys just got a little tougher
GM IronDesk
Thanks for checking in guys - I'll wait until tomorrow before moving things along.

I apologize everyone, but unfortunately I will have to withdraw from this game. I just don't seem to be able to balance my other responsibilities in such a way that I find time to contribute to this adventure as needed. Thank you all so much for including me, and I apologize for the inconvenience my leaving creates.
GM IronDesk
Thanks for breathing life into a character race I've wanted to see in play for quite some time. Sorry we didn't get a chance to see the battle lord come in to its own.
Good luck with your other endeavors and happy gaming!
GM IronDesk
As he is uncontrolled by a player, feel free to yell out instructions to Morgtii. Otherwise, I'll resolve his actions in an efficient but likely uncreative manner :>
GM IronDesk
Will bot Kee-rik and Raidh tomorrow if no respone

Sorry for the delay - sudden onset of the flu took me right out of commission for a couple days.
Blew my year and a half streak of sick-free days too!
GM IronDesk
So it looks like we are down to two active players.
While I think I whiffed the set up to the current encounter, I believe this is a great adventure and am interested in continuing, but...
Kee and Dolph, are you guys still interested in continuing? And in what form? Recruit more players now? Recruit more after the current encounter? Run with just the two of you? If we are going to do that you guys need to step up and be firmer with making decisions.
Or do we just wrap things up now...
Rodolpho Santiwale
I'm having fun with the adventure. But, I don't know enough about the other funky classes to direct them in a fight, so I don't think I can effectively run them. I'm up for continuing if you are cool with it, DM.
Kee-rik
I'd like to continue. I'd prefer there be more than two players involved. I'd have to study up on the new classes and races before I try to run one of them.
Recruiting more players now would be fine with me, as long as they can be worked into the story in a reasonable manner.
GM IronDesk
Okay, we will make a go of it then. I'll take a short time to think on how to integrate new players into the story (and exit the old ones) and open a new recruitment thread.
How "out there" are you guys willing to get with the storytelling? For example: Playing alternate characters for a scene, playing villians/monsters for a scene, controlling multiple ( but simple, like lvl 2 warriors) henchmen/followers in addition to your main character.
I figure we might as well turn this little speed bump into something fun...
In the meantime, lets continue with the current plot in gameplay - I'll run the others in combat, but the decision making is all up to you.
Kennen Heartwell
Hello everyone. Heard you needed some new blood. This is my Halfling Warlord spect as level 3. Need to grab some more items and then I'll be done.
GM IronDesk
Yes, welcome! Follow along for now and we'll get you into to the game as soon as the rest of the new players are lined up and ready to go

Hey all sorry for the delay. My PC has been in the shop since Thursday, and I'm all thumbs when it comes to posting on my phone.
Anyway, we've got one more new player joining up. As soon as he chimes in I'll launch a intro scenario for him and Kennen, running concurrently with the action (subterranean gore fest?) going on at the tower.
I'm also posting an open recruitment thread for a fifth character, because, well, as the current encounter demonstrates, this is a challenging adventure!
GM IronDesk
No need to worry Kennen, now that the Warden has arrived you and he will be starting tomorrow.
The fifth player will be starting separately from the two of you sometime next week.
GM IronDesk
Just going over the new character sheets one more time before we get going and a couple of things came up.
Kennen: we aren't using background skills for this campaign. Is that section on you sheet just a legacy from the past iteration of the character?
Warden: I think bog walker and swamp rebel are from the same trait category ( regional). Can you please replace one of them? I might be wrong- I'm not at my computer to che k right now.
I am currently freezing my butt off in a parking lot waiting for a late bus. <grumpy >
I'll have kennen and The Wardens Intro post up when I get home and thaw out. Your action is not dependent on the current fight going on with the hobgoblins and howe Ed long it takes will not impact you guys. Though the one to me of it will shape the course of that action
Also, Kee-rik, I know crocodiles are scary for little frogs, but please post your turn by end of day so I don't have to bot you. :>
