We're looking for two new characters for a Jade Regent game I'm in. Still very early in the adventure (only through one encounter area so far). If you're interested, see GM Will Cooper (RPG Superstar Top 16 this year) at the discussion thread:
Jade Regent Discussion Thread
Existing characters are a Varisian Cavalier (me) and an Ulfen Ranger.

Probably an appropriate juncture to do a cross-post to my DM'ed PbPs about an interruption to my posting schedule that is imminent.
My wife is about 37 weeks pregnant, which basically means that the bun is fully cooked and ready to pop at any time. This means that at some point in the next 1 day to 4 weeks I will suddenly and without notice disappear completely from the interwebs. I can't say when or for how long, but it will probably knock me out for up to a week or so before my wife and I get back on our feet and I'm of somewhat sound and untired enough mind to jump back online.
So if I do vanish, please don't fret as I shall return :) I would just ask for some patience for a while as we adjust to the new baby floating around. I'll get ourselves sorted at home first, then recommence with the DM'ing once we're all squared away and back in some sort of a new-born 'sequence' again.

Cynara |

I was anticipating that. Good luck with the incipient arrival! (How old is your other offspring? My wife and I have two, just shy three years apart, and that worked out pretty well--our daughter was old enough to help out, although we still remind her of the time my wife was on the phone and had to break off and say, "No, Joanne! Your brother doesn't bend that way!")

Khepri of the Dawn |

Exciting times! We had planned to have another child (mine is 4.5 years old right now) and decided after the first that he was enough. (Though I am the youngest of 5 and have two older brothers and sisters)

Feigr Roarrgun |

They'll be three years and about four months apart - both boys. So we're hopeful that they'll be reasonably good to each other... but being the third of three sons I already know better ;)
Ours (boys) are three years and three months. About as best friends as you can imagine at 16 and 12 right now. Though there certainly is some occasional sparring between the two.

Cynara |

My brother and I (just over a year apart (?!)) were apparently great friends up until the third boy came along, at which point it all fell apart. So maybe it was just you, DMV :-).

Ernst "Love" Lowfield |

No it isn't just DMV. My half-brother and I (3 years apart, same mother raised together) loathe each other. As someone who will never have kids I may be butting in but take care. What looks like simple sparring or normal boy behavior from the outside can be utter hell from the inside.
Sorry if I am butting in. I do hope everything goes well for all of brave or crazy enough to raise kids.

DM - Voice of the Voiceless |

Love - Having a few brother issues along the way myself I can sympathise. Really depends what temperament they both have, but Mr and Mrs VoV will be doing our best to make sure they either play nice... or are kept well enough apart.
Kids are indeed a heady committment, but very very much worth it if you can find the right partner to share the joy with. Not many things make a big man's heart melt the same way as a happy young'un welcoming you home from work ;)

Hopefully my outside announcements don't get to be too much, especially since some of you are in several other games with me, but the newest Open Design project has just been announced:
Midgard Tales
The work coming out of Open Design has been top-notch and one of the best parts of participating in the whole project is you get a chance to influence the design. At higher tiers of pledging, you also get a chance to get your own experience with game design. I've been a participant in the projects since Tales of the Old Margreve and just started getting my own design experience with Journeys to the West where I will have two monsters, one magic item, one NPC, and island, and an adventure in the final compilation.
Midgard Tales is pure adventures. Thirteen of them, set in Midgard, but undoubtedly many will be easily transferred to Golarion or the homebrew of your choice. The Kickstarter won't close until May 21, but some of the levels have limited backers, so if you're interested in writing an adventure, don't wait. I highly recommend it.

I'm thinking that the incipient offspring must be holding off his debut until the point of maximum tension. We'll be charging after the gnoll into the mine, the Shadows are about to appear, and the DM gets The Call. And the players are left to send long-distance congratulations and gnash their teeth in frustration as the campaign goes on hiatus with a cliffhanger.

DM - Voice of the Voiceless |

To be honest I thought the leader might make for some nice foreboding thoughts as he casually strolled into the mines and left you fearing attack from two sides... but best laid plans and all that ;)
I'm hoping that Vhailor doesn't end up getting Odol killed... the wee gnome has been a bit reckless with the Necro hasn't he...

Funny you should mention.... but my wife's waters broke about an hour ago.
Shall be conspicuously absent for some time. If those whom I know in other PbPs could spread the chinese whispers that would be fabulous!

Thanks for the well wishes, have a brief period of quiet at home with our 3 year old while my wife's sister is on duty at the hospital.
Our wee one was born in the early hours this morning and both mum and bub are resting up and doing fine. Unfortunately a C-sect so recovery will be a bit longer, but have family in town to help out which will make it alot easier as we run shifts at hospital helping out.
Obviously will still be a few days before brain is rested enough and have adequate time to make sense of anything, but wanted to let y'all know that the delivery went fine.

DM - Voice of the Voiceless |

Wife and Bub continue to do well and all things considered should hopefully be back in our own home as of tomorrow. Will see how the home-life settles out before committing to a specific time for wading back online so will keep you posted on when that occurs and we'll start this wee beastie back up.

DM - Voice of the Voiceless |

Back home with wife and baby boy and things continue to go well. You might have noticed that I've stepped back into the PbPs that I play in; and if things continue to go well I'll be back DMing in the next couple of days.
Just want to make sure that when I do re-start that I'm able to commit wholehearted and get things rolling with the quality and focus that I'd like.
So if I can test your patience for just a mite longer that would be much appreciated.

Cynara |

Let's see...playing with a potentially cranky, sleep-deprived, frequently interrupted DM vs. waiting a few days longer...seems like a no-brainer to me. Come back when you're ready.

Cynara |

Cynara wrote:The Shadows may hunger, but so does the baby. And the baby is louder.and frankly much much more frightening.
Not frightening, but...well. As David Brin put it in "Earth:"
I sometimes wonder what animals think of the phenomenon of humanity -- and especially of human babies. For no creature on the planet must seem anywhere near so obnoxious.
A baby screams and squalls. It urinates and defecates in all directions. It complains incessantly, filling the air with demanding cries. How human parents stand it is their own concern. But to great hunters, like lions and bears, our infants must be horrible indeed. They must seem to taunt them, at full volume.
"Yoo-hoo, beasties!" babies seem to cry. "Here's a toothsome morsel, utterly helpless, soft and tender. But I needn't keep quiet like the young of other species. I don't crouch silently and blend in with the grass. You can track me by my noise or smell alone, but you don't dare!
"Because my mom and dad are the toughest, meanest sumb@&+!es ever seen, and if you come near, they'll have your hide for a rug."
All day they scream, all night they cry. Surely if animals ever held a poll, they'd call human infants the most odious of creatures. In comparison, human adults are merely very, very scary.

DM - Voice of the Voiceless |

Heh - hungry babies at this age are easily entertained. "Come hither dear wife and attack yon infant with ye Breast of Deep Slumber. If there is fight in the beast still then I shall bounce it upon my Chest of Hypnosis."
And we are a go for restart - might be some delays here and there as I've visitors in town for another couple of weeks, but we are back on track and active once more.
Many thanks for bearing with me through the addition of the wee one to my family.

Feigr Roarrgun |

Yes, it is very net-like.
And sure, Skull and Shackles it is. Twist my arm :)
Anyone here that wants to play, let me know. If we need more to fill out a certain tavern in Port Peril, I'll open it to some of the other PbPs I'm in.
Player's Guide is free on Paizo. 20 point buy. 2 traits, one must be campaign. I am very fond of the 101 Pirate and Privateer Traits from Rite Publishing. If you have other crunch questions, let me know. If there are other 3rd party options you've been wanting to try (like perhaps a white necromancer), I'll probably allow it. Not looking for the Mos Eisley cantina, but this is a pirate ship. I also enjoy design, so if anyone has interest in collaborating on a custom archetype or prestige class, I'd be open to that.
I would like to have strong backgrounds. That shouldn't be an issue for anyone in this campaign. I would encourage you to even consider a couple lines about an NPC or two, friend or rival. You might find I work them into the campaign. I've done quite a bit of that with my Council of Thieves PbP and it is working well.
EDIT: I should mention one other thing too. I'm working on a homebrew called Tears for Storasta that I'll probably be starting up after GenCon in late summer or early fall. It is set in and around the Sarkorian city that was the last city in the region overrun by the Worldwound, but now is a warzone between the demons and the twisted natural forces of Carrock. Mendev will have a role, but Numeria will have a larger one, especially the city of Aaramor. So, if you're at your PbP limit and that has more appeal, you might wait for that one.

Gerald |

ooo, both sound awesome, Feigir. I'd definitely be interested.
As you know from Ialda, I've been nuts about the dragon disciple lately. I'd probably want to do something like a white dragon based one, if that would work. Where Ialda is mostly a warrior, I'd consider the new one more a caster, with maybe just one level or so in martial classes, or maybe no martial classes at all til I hit DD.

DM - Voice of the Voiceless |

Consider the arm firmly twisted ;)
It would be an honor to be one of your subjects / PCs for a venture unto the ocean blue.
I've a Elven net and trident wielder in mind - and will splat up some details for perusal once ye've got a Discussion thread live.
The homebrew does indeed look intriguing as well.

Feigr Roarrgun |

Yeah, I'm pretty stoked about it. I have a pretty good amount of the outline underway. Some of it will change based on character concepts, but I want to have a good start before getting underway. I'm planning to do a lot more detail on Storasta and Aaramor (which has very little and isn't even mentioned in Lost Cities of Golarion, but is too close not to have a major role).
Gerald - white dragon disciple should be fine. Might be hot in the Shackles, but fine :)
