Combat Over!
Namdrin Quinn snaps out of it for a moment and walks over to the Quickling's corpse.
Seizing the shard, he casually snaps it in half and kneels over the fragments, sobbing. As his tears trickle off his face and onto the fragments, they slowly begin to melt and grow, eventually expanding into the unconscious (but living) form of Tessa, his lost love. With a smile, he picks up her sleeping form and carries her into a nearby wagon.
Silas Hawkwinter
Silas watches Quinn go and says softly, "We'd better give him a moment, although the Fae won't stop killing until we force them..."
Shacking his head, Silas turns his attention to the dead and examines the remains of the Quickling.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Silas holds up the bag, the beads and the dagger, "I'm not sure what the bag and this bead does exactly, but the dagger stores a single offensive spell which can be triggered upon hitting something. That could be really useful..."
I almost feel sorry for that Quickling... Although he is an ewul Fae and deserved to be murder hobo'd. Probably.
GM Niles
You can make three separate rolls. One for each item, as long as you have detect magic memorized.
Michael Stamford
Who you calling a murder hobo? I just so happen to be a murderist extraordinaire that lives here!
Michael heaves his hammer over his shoulder after crushing the quickling's skull. "Serves the thing right for trying to do that to a man. But we still need Quinn to break this spell he's cast on the people that's keeping them here. And we need to know what else the fey're doing. More people than him have been affected here; his grieving can wait until we've cleaned up this mess."
With that he stalks after Quinn.
-Posted with Wayfinder

Silas nods, "You and Michael are right, we'd better get after Quinn."
Niles in general should we be rolling individually for each Identify check? Either way I'll be putting some more points in spell craft next level for sure.
Spellcraft: Identify Bead: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
I guess it's fated for Silas to not know what the bag and the bead are today!
GM Niles
Yes each item individually.
As you get to the carnival wagon that Quinn entered he emerges with a determined look on his face. Thank you, for restoring my life to me. he hands you a belt of vials 8 CMW potions labeled and then says Now let us put and end to these vile creatures and drive them back to the dark shadows where they belong. He turns his head to the north and says The Cold Rider will know that Tessa is freed, but he will not know the means yet, we should end his influence over the Carnival. Should we stay together or should we split up?
Hecktor
"Seeing as how the past couple of things went, i'd rather stick to groups of at least 3 with 2 hitters and 1 healer, but running into 2 dark fey then would be a bother. We'd cover more ground splitting up, but encountering this Rider with just 3 would be too risky.
It's weighing off potential bodycount against a careful cleanup, that's the impression i'm getting."
Gilmork
"Good to have you back to your own senses." Gilmork says as he looks at Quinn (and probably behind him the fleeing citizens of Falcon's Hollow).
"We have a lot of ground still to cover in cleaning out the carnival. Could you rally a group of others of the carnival to help you out? In that case we might best split up. Else we should stick together and be faster in shutting down the evil attractions."
Gilmork draws out the map and looks at the other close attractions they have."An attraction called Biggy-Piggy and Candied Apples are close by. Else that Minotaur called Gradzaal and the Icy Maze lie to our north."
Silas Hawkwinter
Silas turns pale, shudders and says, "I dread to think what the Fae have done to the Candied Apples, I nearly bought one earlier. Oh and I've a bad feeling they've done something horrible at the Pie eating contest... If it wasn't for the cold rider I'd say split up, but we'll likely need our combined strength to face him!"
GM Niles
Quinn replies I know Graadzal, I convinced him to join my troupe...I'll deal with him if you go to the Pie Eating contest.
Michael Stamford
"I don't like that we went into this blind to begin with. I refuse to split up, otherwise we just make ourselves more likely to be picked apart one by one. There's strength in numbers. Though it may take us longer to fix this, it's better to lose a few townsfolk and succeed than to fail and lose all."
Lucanor
I keep forgetting I don't have detect magic
Lucanor frowns "Town can't afford to lose that many folk so I'd be all for splitting up but since the vote seems to be for staying together I won't wast valuable time arguing it. Let's head to the pie eating contest and whatever is next closest to it after that. I DO suggest we let Quinn keep the minotaur busy while we do it. Quinn, if you feel you can't take him in a fight, just lead him on a merry chase instead. We can try to come back for you to help out. Quinn goes solo, rest of us stick around? Sound good?"
GM Niles
Namdrin Quinn smiles a cold smile at Lucanor. These are not just for the show. he says indicating his twin swords that are carved with strange symbols and siguls. But I hope to convince Graadzal to abandon the fey and follow me once again. This carnival has suffered, and my choices have brought ruin upon those who once trusted me. I must make this right.
Quinn decides to go off on his own. He heads north to the Ice Maze.
Silas Hawkwinter
Silas watches Quinn depart for a long moment, before muttering, "Typical. Ah well we'd better head off into the unknown, again!". He heads off to the area where the Pie Eating contest is staged...
GM Niles
Biggy-Piggy Pie-Eating Contest
The delicious scents of sugary berries and
fresh-baked pastry wafts by, drifting from
a tent near the river. Waving high in the air
above it, a blue silk banner beckons “Biggy-
Piggy Pie-Eating Contest!” in bright gold
letters. Beneath the banner sits a twentyfoot-
long table covered with a red-checkered
tablecloth. Seated at a bench before the table,
twelve local contestants eagerly stare at the
tremendous steaming pies placed before them.
With napkins tucked into their shirts and their
hands tied behind their backs, they await the
signal to begin. Near the table, a wooden
sign staked into the ground reads, “Entrance
Fee: 2 Coppers, Winner Gets Fat Prize!”
To the left of the table, the event’s sponsor
emerges from behind a wheeled cart bearing
the weight of a coal-burning oven. With a
bellowing voice that compliments his immense
rotundness, the pie chef yells, “Begin!” Within
seconds, contestants’ faces greedily plunge into
the fresh-baked pies as they slobber and gnash
their way to victory.Once the competition starts, the chef
happily fills new pie crusts with a strange
device that looks like a giant butter churn
attached to a spinning wheel with a big
foot pedal. In the front of the churning
chamber, a metal spigot attaches to a
10-foot hose. When the pie chef stomps
the pedal, steam shoots out the top of the
churn as gouts of pie filling erupt from
the hose
The smell of offal and death fill your nostrils as you realize that the "pie filling" is actually entrails covered in flies! The "chef" is a large anthropomorphic pig and his two assistants are fey! The "contestants" spend their time eating and retching as the noxious mixture is obviously diseased!
