I have adventures I want to run I was trying to let you guys get there naturally I have a few ideas for major stories I would like to do but I wanted you guys to see them and find the ones that you are motivated and pulled to by what your characters wanted. I'm learning a lot about GMing not just play by post but some things about GMing in general that will help me in the long run.
Does no one want to run any more of the press conference?
Invictus Legacy
Also, let me say that you are doing a great job of wrangling upwards of nine players! It can be a chore for sure. You've been open, and honest, and open to feedback from your players, so despite some bumps I am looking forward to the journey for sure!
As for the press conference, I would like to field questions, ask specific questions for some of the characters, give us the idea of what kind of public feedback we're going to receive, name drop some reporters who could turn into contacts.
Thanks for your hard work! :D
Waveform
I'l post now. I was busy yesterday running my players through a dreamscape within a dream demiplane to save one of the party's mothers, who then asked to be killed to prevent the universe from being destroyed.
Waveform
Pathfinder, penultimate module of War of the Burning Sky. 18th level, so it's pretty epic.
Thфth
I'm enjoying the game, even though I've just been following along so far. Eagerly awaiting my introduction, so I can start playing a more active role.
Techno Priest
I'm also enjoying the game. We've got fun stuff going on here. You've done a great job at working with us, and not just saying "well, I'm the GM. Like it or leave".
On Thoth:
I honestly thought he'd have his introduction during the museum scene. Can't wait to have him on the team.
Praxiteles the Golem
Its going well. I think I need to figure out more of my character's role outside the combat arena as so far every effort to be useful in that regard has been well useless.
Invictus Legacy
Oh s#$*! Jimmy Dugan! I mentioned I grew up in a Champions game right? I hate this little s@%@! He caused no end of trouble for me and my team!
Praxiteles the Golem
Haha he is a pain in the ass. He was fixated on our team and spent many nights camping outside one of our Secret ID apartments cause he traced us to that area.
Invictus Legacy
Will answer the questions presented when I get home just finishing up with a dinner out.
Invictus Legacy
As a side note, I vote Ares our field leader, for umm, tactics who better than the god of war, unless he's going to have us get all stabby stabby with the baddies! >.>
Also, we need a danger room, someone work on that! :)
Techno Priest
A danger room is doable, we'll just need points for it. Next PP, anyone wanna invest on upgrading the cathedral?
Invictus Legacy
How many heroes are on the team?
Invictus, Techno Priest, Quark, Waveform, Broadway, Ares, Golem, Thoth?
At 1 pp each, that's 40 EP's to spend on Base & Vehicle if we want. That's a metric s#+$ ton!
Thфth
Something I never noticed before, but the symbols that show up to cover up profanities are randomly determined, every time you load the page. Hit refresh and they change every time.
S#!%
F@*+
Of course, no system is perfect, and eventually someone is going to figure out how to just bypass that shіt altogether...
The Watcher of the Freedomverse
I personally think adding a few points for some of the combat feats for some of you might also be a good investment of power points.
I'm getting ready to rap up the press scenes and move things along, so if anyone wants to add more please try to quickly, like the next hour or so.
Techno Priest
Hey gang,
I've been working on an idea. As a GM, I am a HUGE fan of games with multiple points of view and intertwining story lines. In a pathfinder home game of mine, the player characters had to stop a cadre of corrupt upperclass citizens from staging a coup. The collective deceived the team by imitating a local street gang and committing terrorist attacks on the public. As they went down the wrong rabbit hole, we took a break from that storyline. I had them make new characters, all of a similar ethnicity and all with tattoos of the local gang, The Serpents. Playing as Serpent members, they learned that members of the upperclass have been kidnapping their young and selling them into slavery. The Serpents learned a new layer to the story, that the coup being staged was in preparation to sell the city to imperialists from the north. They went back to their original characters, knowing a little bit more than they did before of the city's history and what the serpents main motivation was. It made it interesting when they had to find a non meta gamey way to form an alliance with the serpents. As the story progressed, they created criminals who were then used as pawns of the rich folk. As the criminals caught on, they began to formulate a plan to rob the rich families right under their nose. Eventually, a huge battle ensued between the serpents, the heroes and the anti-villains through out the city once the conquerors from the north attacked.
What does this have to do with our game?
Well, I've never felt confident enough to run a game through PbP, but everyone here has been so supportive of Watcher and it seems that if I were to ever run one, this would be the group to do it with.
If Watcher's ok with it, I'd like to tell a story within Freedom, a darker, grittier one, that runs behind the scenes of our current game. With this, I hope to flesh out world out a bit more and gain some experience GMing a PbP.
I'd like to run a one-shot revolving around a gritty team of heroes-for-hire with a vague pulp feel to it. These won't be your typical tights & capes four-color heroes but heroes nonetheless, who are looking for a quick buck.
Since this is my first PbP, and I'd like to walk before I run and roll with 4-5 players. If all 8 or 9 would like to play, I could finagle something up to accommodate though.
Watcher, I will be getting in contact with you with a rough outline of what my story will be (if any of this is ok with you, of course) so that you can OK everything I'd like to use in my story.
I'm looking to make the game last a month, two at the longest.
M&M2e, PL 9.
Headquarters will be provided.
Remember: We're going for a modern pulp feel. Pulp heroes (to me at least) seem to have a good number of ranks in skills and feats, and typically one or two powers. If my idea needs clarifying, don't hesitate to ask. I got out of work extra late so I'm a bit brain dead from all the people.
Invictus Legacy
I'm curious as to what you mean by 'pulp' heroes? Pulp heroes include Doc Samson, the Shadow, the Rocketeer, John Carter, Buck Rogers, Conan, Kull, Solomon Kane, Tarzan & Zorro. As you can see they run the gamut from dark and gritty to four color science fiction.
Now it kind of seems to me that you are thinking something I would typically call street heroes. Batman, Dare Devil, Green Arrow, Grendal, Iron Fist & Power Man, Jon Sable, Punisher & the Question. Are you looking for anti heroes, or just a mercenary attitude?
Now, all that being said, I do have a concept I'd be interested in actually playing, inspired heavily by the Immortal Iron Fist series. Which if you haven't read and you have an even passing interest in Hong Kong cinema, or Iron Fist himself, I suggest, strongly, that you read.
The back story would involve Eldritch rescuing an immigrant child from a plot by Dr. Sin to kidnap children and brain wash them into trained assassins. The child, rescued by ELdritch, but having lost his parents would be fostered in the Shamballa Vale. Raised by the masters of the Vale, the character would become a master himself. Eventually returning to Freedom City when it became apparent that Eldritch had disappeared.
Maybe less mercenary than required, but he'd be a hero of China town and try to help them out as required by the community.
Techno Priest
Not sure why but I always associate pulp heroes with modern street heroes. You're totally right though. I'm going for more of a street hero angle.
Your character would fit in perfectly.
The mercenary angle isn't too important, as long as the character isn't super well-off.
Waveform
Very interesting. I suppose having more heroes that the Freedom League would probably be responding to threats all over the region. And the academy would try to limit the heroics of their kids.
My idea is Quantum Cat. He's a bit unstable, positionally. He can teleport a couple hundred feet. Is that street enough or should I think of other ideas? I have an idea about a smoke controller...
Dr. Quark
This whole process has really reminded me how much I love Mutants and Masterminds. My flesh and blood group prefer Pathfinder, which I enjoy, but I love the freedom of this game and the ease of play. I am working on a modern urban fantasy campaign mashing up Monster Hunters International, Harry Dresden, and a few other things.
I would be interested in a parallel game. I have several ideas, most of which have been rattling around in my head for years.
A detective who can't be harmed (lots of immunities, no real powers other than guns).
A sword wielding ninja type has been haunting me recently.
There was a what if comic where the punisher bonded with the black symbiote, something like that would be cool.
A guy who no one can remember. Not sure how to build the powers, but experiences with him can't be stored in long term memory. Sort of like he turns everyone into the guy in Memento.
What about an artificial intelligence like the one in Eagle Eye? Present through omnipresent technology.
If it works out, it would be cool to put everything on the same Obsidian Portal site, NPC's could appear in both series.
Dr. Quark
Also, it might be polite to ask Watcher if he is ok with this hijack or would prefer we move to another recruitment thread.
Thфth

Anonymous (Transform 9: Mental) (Area: Burst 45 ft Radius, Continuous, Independent; Limited to erasing memories, Limited to erasing memories of himself, Permanent)
No saving throw would be cool too, but jump the cost from 9pp to 27.

The Dresden Files have to be my number one favourite book series. I've looked at the set up in the Fate system, and it is very interesting. However, I tend to like something a little meatier in the rules department , and Fate is definitely very a very rules-light system. It has actual struck me before that Mutants and Masterminds might be a good alternative system...
Dr. Quark
Yeah, I've run straight up Dresden universe games with Mutants and Masterminds, also had Dresden as a character in a modern League of Extraordinary Gentlemen campaign. Worked great for both.
Techno Priest
I'll set up an alternate thread later today to throw around ideas and not clog this discussion up.
Invictus Legacy
Priest, one question before I run to work, I know I pitched a character, but I want to make sure he works. Street level games tend to be grittier, what level of lethality are you looking at? Are we Punisher-esque anti heroes? Or Street Level heroes like the Bat-Family and Heroes for Hire?
Waveform
Transform would be how I'd do that too. But I'd add selective just to avoid getting jumped by your allies each time. Insidious would probably be required too.
Techno Priest
In terms of lethality, think heroes for hire. Lethal measures can be taken when necessary but there will be just consequences.
Praxiteles the Golem
The game sounds like fun but I will be glad to sit that one out Techno Priest, I am at a good place gamewise. Running an Emerald Spire and about to start playing Rise of the Runelords in Pathfinder. Plus Gencon coming up in a little while.
Thфth
The first idea I've had for a street level guy is actually a version of a character that has been percolating in my mind for some 20 years. The game I was playing back then (Heroes Unlimited from Palladium Games) didnt really have a way to handle the concept, so I had to back burner it for a while. After that, he just seemed a bit dark fr most games. I'm a chil of the nineties, and as much as people decry that era as the Dark Ages of comic books, I did pretty much all my comic collecting during that decade, and I have a lot of fond memories of the 90's antihero.
The idea would be this: an ex-soldier who was traumatized when something went wrong in his life. I'm picturing a punisher style origin where his family was wiped out, or a mission gone wrong where he was the only survivor. However, in his case, whatever the event was, it was completely his fault, or at least he believes it was. As a part of the incident, whether by mystic, supernatural, technological or chemical reasons, he gained the ability to heal; not just heal a little, or quickly, but from pretty much anything, and pretty much instantly. Other than that power, he'd probably be something of a super normal. Psychologically, he is all kinds of messed up; though he was a bit of a badass once (SAS or SEAL, or some such), but now, he pretty much lives as a hobo. In addition to PTSD and depression, he had a massive dose of survivor's guilt, and as a result of all this, is pretty profoundly suicidal. However, do to the powers he developed, he can't seem to die! No matter how severe the injury, from decapitation, to dismemberment and more, he is healthy as a horse a roun or two later. So, he has no idea what to do with himself, he wants to die but just can't, and has basically nothing to live for. Within this context, he sees his other homeless companions getting roughed up by these guys or those, he's started acting out to defend them. He never thinks of himself as a hero, but rather just a nobody, trying to help out the most neglected people in society.
Invictus Legacy
I'll have an IC post up once I get home from work. Been a long day! Looking forward to the Freedom City Streets thread so we can get that discussion rolling without diluting the Guardians here.
Fun stuff!
Waveform
If you're thinking teleporter, then I'll do Wisp instead of Quantum Cat. Wisp probably works better in a street-level game. Qcat is more of a mainstream guy.
Techno Priest
Tales From the Watcherverse Discussion is live!
My idea is to make one alternate board where we run one-shots and whatnot. I understand switching GMs is a bit of a process requiring Paizo assistance, but it would be cool to pass the GM rights around. I've got a rough outline of a story brewing. Toss out some character ideas and I'll start putting things together based on what we have.
Techno Priest
Depending on if everyone was free or not, I'd imagine we'd all get there around the same time, or at least for simplicity's sake.
Invictus Legacy
I'll be going into work soon, work til 5ish EDT, but my kids got a ballgame this evening, so probably won't be able to post until later on. Feel free to have Invictus mop up some flying choppers if the delay is holding things up, but I do have the next two days off so things should be good there.
