Lol Oh my geek card is fine.
Here are some books I love:

Planetary is one of my all-time favorite books. I suggest everyone read it. Pulp-y mystery, investigations, twists and turns and awesome use of literary favorites.

Fear Agent by Rick Remender is probably the best movie series that hasn't been made and sits high on my shelf along with Planetary. Space-y, full of ass-kickery, and is such a thrill ride for me.

If you don't mind obvious crude humor, Orc Stain by James Stokoe is beautiful and gross at the same time. I'm in love with his art style, how it can be so fine detailed at times yet not overbearing. Definitely NOT something to read if you're uneasy with violence and potty humor. The book is about Orc society, so expect phallises. Lots of them.

Locke & Key was a tough one for me to pick up. The art style made me any to run away yet the story was so well written! A page turner for sure, and written by Stephen King's son, Joe Hill. Whatever King is on, he definitely passed it on to Hill.

As much as I loved the big two as a kid (typicially leaned towards Marvel though), all these big mega events kind of lost me. I read up until Fear Itself (Marvel) and my interest dropped severely. Now, with this New 52 and the upcoming Marvel reboot, I feel like my interest is going to drop even more concerning new books. I understand continuity clutter and that a retcon is necessary every once in a while, but a whole company-wide retcon is too much for me.

I didn't mind the New 52 reboot, actually. It wasn't jarring, pretty well done, and in the beginning, the books were actually pretty good. I think Marvel was starting to see interest wane because there were just too many books. Ultimate Universe, regular universe, and then "other" books. They needed a way to trim it down because I think people were just getting tired of having to pick up 1145124315 different books to follow a story ;)

Oh, I just finished Reading NOS4A2, so I agree about Joe Hill. It's King-like, but unique. What's more, the endings aren't crap! I haven't picked up Locke and Key, but I should.

I tend to go for limited series and individual titles that don't cross over and split. For major publishers, I read Superior Spider-Man because I knew it would end. I read the main Forever Evil, but avoided the offshoots. I loved Exiles back when they were publishing it. Then again, I'm a big fan of Elseworlds/What if? Since they are out of continuity, they are discrete stories, but you get the flavor of the characters.

Well that was my main concern with marvel. For me to fully enjoy a story, I've gotta read all the pieces that are put out. They started putting event banners on books that barely even mentioned whatever was going on.

I read graphic novels and when there's no easy way to identify what order to read these event books, I pass them up.

@Ares,

Since this is "Affects Others" and not "Attack", you don't need to go if you don't want to.

And you aren't wet. The water moves you along without actually wetting you. That would be rude.

A long weekend?!? Well that explains why the board was quiet, being Canadian, ours was the previous weekend. It's Monday though, you still have time to grill, just make sure there is a beer in your hand while doing it!

Game wise, I think we're just waiting to see what Priest does to the detonators, and then it's a smorgasbord of power stunts to get this thing done. Following the bomb situation, it is going to inevitably be the press, and not sure which scares me more!

It's not a wall of water, it's a volume of water. Since I'm adding this to my protection ability I can fill an unreasonable volume of water. If it weren't aerated and frothy it would probably collapse the floor by weight.

After the explosion (if she's in any shape to take actions) she will use purify water to separate out the bomb components and chemical residue into piles for the forensics teams.

As for Memorial Day, we celebrated by getting to Epic level and beginning to retake our home city. We went classic with nice thick grilled cheeseburgers and potato salad. The kind of food that made this nation fat strong! And I went with the traditional American drink. Cider. None of that post-prohibition German-style wheat juice. After all, Johnny Appleseed wasn't planting eatin' apples.

I loved the Captain Thunder coming down on us situation. It is so perfect when you consider his background and our newb status. Personally my character is more likely to take those words to heart and is going to be a bit abashed at his failure both in fighting, even though we were both outgunned and outnumbered, and in failing to find Blaze.

Keep in mind in the future with Invis/Insub going on I can do a rapid circuit through building/cars/underground pretty quickly.

And not only was Paizocon a blast and my Birthday weekend, which was nice cause of all the free food/drinks, but the games we got to run were incredible. First you played your normal characters getting attacked by the bad guys, then you got to play the bad guys attacking your characters, it was pretty well done.

That sounds like a cool adventure Prax! It kinda reminds me of an early old school Champions (another super hero game I know!) scenario I was lucky enough to participate in. Our hero team had a group of baddies whom we regularly tangled with. Then we were approached by the villains, and they asked for our assistance, they had all gotten their powers from a guy named the Power Broker, who was giving people powers for the right price. Problem was there was a side effect, and your powers slowly killed you.

So our nemesis' were all dying, I was playing a patriotic shield slinger named Canadian Crusader, and my nemesis was a claw based villainess named Panthera. So the scenario had us break into different teams to shut down Power Brokers operations in Toronto, and then head to South America to confront him in his own base. We had five guys plus the GM at our table, so when we split up it was two heroes, three villains, and then three heroes and two villains. With each player having a villain assigned to them.

One of the other players got to play Panthera, and he got off on having her coyly doodle designs into my shield with her claws. LOL. It was hilarious, I've never heard of it done in a fantasy setting though, would love details! :D

Also, for Watcher, any luck with my notice or sense motive checks to see if something is going on with the League, as they are acting out of character, at least in my eyes.

Given his mood over C.T.'s comments Invictus won't be sticking around to deal with the press. His first concern is that something is wrong with the League, shapeshifters, mind control, something to make them act this far out of character. Secondly he is concerned about his students and is looking for them, and third the meeting with these other new heroes at Priests cathedral.

Sure, luck replenishing at the end of every scenario is fine with me. I'll just activate my complications sometimes!

Invictus: Was Captain Thunder really that far out of character?

You can all work to advance the story to meeting up in Techno Priests Cathedral.

So questions what did you guys like dislike or not enjoy mechanically what needs work?

One thing I would like to see is if everyone use the combat action formatting that we have been discussing. Should I make a generic macro for it?

On the topic of retcon since this was your first adventure with your character if you would like to move around and change powers this is an open opportunity with no need for story for the changes to your characters.

I was just assuming, I tend to picture the Freedom-verse as Marvel-lite, he came of as Ultimates Captain America. If he's that much of a dick all the time it would explain the rivalry that I have with him. But you also mentioned the rest of the League didn't even recognize or interact with people they knew, in my history I had several League members whom I am friendly with, including Daedalus and Lady Liberty.

In my mind if they let Thunder trash talk someone who considers them friends and mentors, then there might be an issue. Maybe they had a bad day and are just suffering from jet lag though LOL!

Just a quick question for the team, we all have a PP now, do we want to drop that into a pool for base & equipment? We wouldn't have it immediately, but with TIGHTS & Priest we have two tech heads who can get that up and running for us pretty quick. That'd be a MASSIVE 40 EP points in a shared pool for Comm's and a Base.

Another thing to consider is taking a 1 point feature, Earbud Communicator. That'd let us talk to one another, but because it's a power point as compared to equipment it is FAR less susceptible to jamming, damage and other such things that routinely happens to equipment.

Also, if it's alright with Prax & Watcher, I may juggle my Defense/Toughness Tradeoff to better represent being Invulnerable, but I would keep my Accuracy/Effect trade off as is, since Invictus has Super Speed & other tricks rather than the beat down Golem can bring.
