Abstractly, I was thinking the sneaky ones (Beldan, Vilya, Pip and, to a certain extent, me) are up by the bend in the corridor while the heavy hitters are a bit further back. At turn zero, Pip casts Haste on them, and they start running , while Beldan and Vilya attack with missile weapons and I cast my spell. Then, in round 1, we determine initiatives, the heavies rush into combat and mayhem ensues.

Sounds good. I want to get in a surprise round crossbow attack, which means I’ll need to get to about row 10. Should be able to manage it in the dark with a good stealth roll, depending on what sort of senses these things have. How much light are the dwarves helmets putting out?
Altai, are you able to target the more distant lizard with your grease spell? Only real issue I see is that if it falls it might squash one of the dwarfs.
Beldan Vale
Beldan sneaks forward to the corner with whoever else is coming that far. Once they are in place and ready to act, he sneaks further into the room to D10 with his crossbow ready and loaded, keeping an eye out to see if he is noticed. Stealth: 1d20 + 33 ⇒ (20) + 33 = 53, Perception: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (7) + 16 = 23
Once in place he’ll fire at the lizard in ABC 16-18: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (2) + 13 = 15 Damage: 1d8 + 7 + 6d6 ⇒ (1) + 7 + (6, 6, 3, 3, 6, 1) = 33 plus 1d6 ⇒ 1 electricity if they’re not immune, plus 6 bleed plus 2 strength damage. Initiative: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12
EDIT: his stealth check to remain hidden after the attack is 33.
dungeonmaster heathy
Duly noted; I'll release what happens after the rest of the stealth attempters make their moves.
(edit) Beldan's able to sneak, possibly rehide (not releasing that yet)
and I'll release the initiative results after the sneaky ones have had their go. Beldan, however, misses the big lizard.
Who's next?

Pip's good with that. He had recently cast a Haste, if it has faded he'll yakkety sax it up again.
Pip readies his bow after casting maybe Haste.
Stealth:1d20 + 27 ⇒ (11) + 27 = 38 Perception: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (4) + 21 = 25
I am assuming I cannot do any bowing until the first round, unless the Haste from before still is in effect.
dungeonmaster heathy
Cool.....somebody knows what yakkety sax is.....
Yeah; the last haste has pretty much faded.
Pip can haste and move, or haste and whip out his shooting implements, hanging back with his bad squishy self; up to you; can't really pop off an arrow and cast same round though.
Hell, he could haste, move, and whip out his bow on the run....
Anybody wanna call a spot for Pip;
also, any more sneaky buggers can go if they want, then I'll give up the results of initiative.
Altai Iscarni
Let's put Pip in H5 - that gives him cover, and allows him to take a 5' step westwards and target the westernmost dragon-thing next round. Altai sneaks up to F7 (Stealth 14+12=26) to cast Grease on the ceiling underneath the ABC 16-19 dragon. Normally it'll need to make a DC 20 Reflex save to be able to move, and it'll fall if it fails by 5 or more. However, those rules are for creatures standing upright on a flat surface, not for a big beast hanging on the ceiling... I'd say some DM adjustments are due here. It's only 20' down to the floor, so the falling damage this may produce is trivial - however, the damage the dragon might do on landing on its riders may be quite serious. :P And, of course, everyone will be prone, which is always a good thing.
dungeonmaster heathy
The lizard falls and is prone, ABC 16-18 after the greasing. Damage noted.
The dwarf at a 18 is landed uponst by the massive reptile.
The two riders float down, falling slowly, to land on their prone mount in b18 and b16.
They looked to be wrapped in mummylike drapings or strips of cloth; they wear breastplates and carry odd doublebladed swords, thought they currently have bows out. You can see through their skin...see the organs below. The bones, the intestines throbbing...
Any other sneakies?
dungeonmaster heathy
"Huh. Well, that wasn't the effect I was hoping for..." Altai's nose wrinkles in disgust. "I guess we'll have to burn them up the old-fashioned way."
They nock their arrows, and wag tongues, 9 inches long, tongues that would make Gene Simmons look shocked.....
looks like Shiny's been AWOL for like 15 days. Somebody wanna take his move?
Claw the Golem
Vilya goes somewhere to take a powder. Stig starts in K0; he triple moves to B9. Gjetost starts in KL 2-3; he moves to EF 2-3 and lobs a rock at the nearest floating freak. Attack roll 20!+11+1(haste)=AC 31, confirm roll 14+11+1=AC 26, damage 4+16=20x2=40. Claw starts behind Stig in KL -1/-2 and lumbers to GH 3-4.
Elgan!
dungeonmaster heathy
They rolled a freakin 20 for initiative; they won.
The lizardthing that fell stands up from prone.
It unleashes a 20 foot bolt of electricity; this does not reach Beldan, but it illuminates his position.
The two that "fell" shoot arrows at the rogue; both miss.
Then they both move.
d.c. 29 perception to see them;
The other huge reptile moves up to def 13-15; 20 feet up on the wall still.
It blasts beldan with its lightning breathweapon, 27 h.p. in damage, d.c. 20 reflex for half (or none in Beldan's case).
Its mounts are still on it; they are at e15 and e13;
they shoot two arrows at Altai, one hits for 15 h.p. in damage.
A fireball erupts, save d.c. 17 reflex for half;
centered at cd 6-7;
catches Beldan, Altai, Pip, and Hnoss;
41 h.p. in damage if max, half if save; none for Bel if he saves of course.
The two dwarves in a7 and a9 perish in the fireball; Hnoss takes half damage.
Group's attack!!!
Pendobar 'Pip' Bushytoe
Perception: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (18) + 21 = 39
Reflex: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29
Pip begins singing a rousing war chant
"Let's go! Sometimes you've got to take it easy, Stig
We'll leave the city behind, the trolls call "fallacy"
Falling back, pulling ahead
We're back to back
Back to back
Now some busy trolls on the way home have passed us by
Ah don't let it get you down
Why not go for a stroll, Stig
Beldan, Altai, Elgan, Stig
Go Stig MacHammer
Go Stig MacHammer
Go Stig MacHammer go!
...OW!"
The blast singes him
"Everyone's a critic.."
Pip's sword begins to echo his song in an ethereal counterpoint. He lets it go to hang in the air. Suddenly a constellation of glowing stars outlines his silver-web-embroidered cloak. A ring on his finger glows blue for a second. He readies his bow aiming at the mummy-wrapped squicky foes.
OK, activating bard plusses. +3 atk/dam/charm/fear. He will also put his sword up and activate his Starmantle and Ring of Mystical Defiance (gices a DR vs spell effects of 10). After the song and the sword are up, Pip will ready his bow. Pretty sure he can't attack this round, but watch out next time >=)
Altai Iscarni
"Gaaaaah! Gods-damned goat-molesting cretins! I'll have your hides for this! Hit the deck if you value your lives, dwarves!" Clothes smoking and beard singed, Altai dives back around the corner, but casts a spell first.
I fluffed the save against the fireball, so I've taken 56 points of damage. I can't stand up to too much more of that, so I'm running for safety to I6. But first I hit our new friends with a Prismatic spray. It is aimed from F7 to A18 and F20, blasting both dragons and the mounted weirdoes; I try to avoid hitting too many dwarves, but this thing is not a precision instrument... Effects are here; maybe I can hit one or both of the invisible twerps sneaking around. Significantly, the spray does not hit Beldan.
Claw the Golem
Then this happens. I've changed Gjetost's target and adjusted his result to account for bardic music.
Vilya goes somewhere to take a powder. Stig starts in K0; he triple moves to B9. Gjetost starts in KL 2-3; he moves to EF 2-3 and lobs a rock at the nearest dragon. Attack roll 20!+11+1(haste)+3(bardic music)=AC 34, confirm roll 14+11+1+3=AC 29, damage 4+16+3=23x2=46. Claw starts behind Stig in KL -1/-2 and lumbers to GH 3-4.
Elgan, Beldan and Hnoss to go.
Pip begins singing a rousing war chant
For some reason I can't place this song. I assume it's not this one? ;P
dungeonmaster heathy
tongue boy at
a13 is out of the way.
f16 takes 20 fire; however he saved and "TOOK NONE" (evasion huzzah!)
e15 takes 40 acid; pending spell resistance; doesn't make a reflex save.
e13 takes a violet ray; pending spell resistance; he goes poofing off to another plane.
behir at
abc 16-18 takes a blue ray, doesn't save, and is now a statue of a behir.
behir at
def 13-15 takes 40 electricity and 20 acid; made a reflex save.
dungeonmaster heathy
Stig moves as stated.
Gjetost finishes the OTHER behir with one mighty rock that dashes its brains out. The other two riders also float down to land on their dead mount, unless one of them got shot to another dimension via Altai's prismatic spray.
So,
Altai can pony up two spell resistance overcoming rolls,
and Beldan and Elgan are left to go; looks like there's at least two foes, a third who was hit by an acid ray, and a fourth who is either uninjured or teleported to a different dimension via prismatic spray.
Beldan Vale
Map's at work, so need to re-figure where everyone's at. Might take me a bit - and going out for lunch soon.
Reflex save 1: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (9) + 15 = 24
Reflex save 2: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (7) + 15 = 22
Perception: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (16) + 16 = 32
Beldan dodges nimbly aside from the lightning blast, ducks as the fireball explodes overhead, then uses the fading light of the energy attacks to see where the guys who shot at him got to.
Beldan Vale
“Whoa, that’s a lot of bright spells …”
Beldan grabs the edge of his cloak then flies across the cavern (avoiding AoO’s from the behir and the urdefhans if he can, if the behir has enough reach to get him he’ll hope for the best) and land to hide under the petrified behir in A17. Stealth: 1d20 + 33 ⇒ (6) + 33 = 39
Elgan Dreadwood
Wow, I get sick a coupla days and I miss how many posts? Sorry, was sick last 2 days with stomach bug. I hate bugs. ;P
ACK! man, I have GOT to get my profile updated with all of my attacks properly listed, with all our usual bonuses. It's too late and I'm too tired to do math tonight, Ill post the math tomorrow. Sorry.
Elgan slides off the back of his large friend, and promptly grows to treant-form and reaches OVER his ride to hammer on the nearest,... whatever it is, with branches trailing flames and sparks,...
dungeonmaster heathy
Is Elgan's form shifting a free action or standard action?
If standard, he can make a single move to say ef 4-5; if double he can get up to where Stig and Beldan are; about cd 9-10.
Somebody wanna call a position it's all good to me; it's their attacks after Elgan does his thing though.
