I think he's definitely associated with kytons, if not one himself. I've been envisioning him as a kyton-like extension of Drisella that represents the undeniable taint that her encounter with a real kyton manifested. Its agenda is as a kyton's would be, though. So I think we're on the same path of thinking.

Afternoon Guys,
I'll be running some errands for the wife today, but when I get back, I'll move us along as the groups are about to reach the manor house. (And the end of Act 1). I promise I will have it out today, but between the yard work, shopping and cleaning (and Lucents dammed dwarf campaign that he adjusted the deadline to >.>.) I am super busy. Thanks for your waiting, and If you want to interact at all, feel free to along the route. You are currently about reach each other on converging paths, so if someone wanted to describe the groups linking up that would be great. If not I will do it myself when I make my post.

*nod* Lucent is a great GM. Take a look at his other ruins of pathfinder.
Ruins of Pathfinder: Reign of Winter
The concept is very good. It also lets you flip preconceived notions around pretty easily.
I'm finishing up my application right now with:
The Heir-Apparent of the Dwarven Yamauchi clan, her mother and father and most of her clan was wipe out following the events of the Jade Regent AP. Her family has been protected by centuries by a wise "Celestial Foo-Lion" (Eidolon) named Komainu-Kun Komaniu-Kun that bonded itself to their family shortly after they emerged from the slopes of the Wall of Heaven in Tian Xia following the dwarven search for the sky.
Following their flight from their ancestral homeland, Komainu appeared before Mineko, the guardianship passed to her when her father died at the hands of the Minkai Jade Regent. Mechanically she is done and so is her small entourage of followers. In Japanese Minekos name means "Summit Child of the White Mountain Peaks". I thought it would have been pretty fitting.
I have lots of little interesting things set up. She has the Dynasty Founder story feat and I gave her a few followers to play around with including:
Motomi Himura - Kaseifu (Maid): A flighty and stupid dwarf, Motomi is still quite adept at picking up on the quite impulses of Mineko.
Kaori Inoue - Watashi-boku (Noble Hand Maiden): A lesser noble from the vassal Inoue clan, Kaori is the closest thing that Mineko has to a friend.
Koki Hayashi - Uruwashii (Guardsman): One of the few surviving guards assigned to protect Mineko during their trip though the Darklands, Koki is reckless and boarding on impatient. He still feels that he should have stayed behind to fight along with his two brothers.
Tokuzo Akiyama - Itamae (Court Taster): The royal food taster and chief for the Yamauchi clan. He proudly bears the imperial tattoo denoting his family's service to the Yamauchis for the last five hundred years.

Well guys welcome to Act 2. Five hundred posts since we started and we are there. I'm proud that we have done this well. The writing has been fantastic by everyone and even though we have had a few hiccups along the way, I could not have asked for a better group to break the ice with as a 1st time PBP DM.
Lets talk about this phase a little bit. You guys have broken out of Branderscar and reached about as close as a haven as exists in Talingarde for you. For months you have been held as prisoners. Without being able to shave or take a bath, with terrible food. So I want you to enjoy your freedom. You guys did it! You escaped Branderscar, and no one in the history of the island has done that. So what is the first thing that you want do now that you seem to be out of danger?
I'll tell you now, that Act 2 is more roleplay heavy and less combat centric than the previous act. You are going to meet some NPC's that will play big roles throughout the campaign. Some of them are *very* powerful. There will also be some advancement of personal stories as well during this Act.
Questions?

Barnabas Wright |

Empress-Heir Mineko Yamauchi is a pretty interesting concept (summoners are broken though, so boo, hiss)
The amount of effort that goes into one of Lucent's campaigns boggles the mind.

@Kergh: Would you prefer to have accommodations in a shed with some hay? It can be easily arranged.
@Barnabas: Thanks! I agree Lucent is one of the best DM's I have seen on the board (not just saying that to earn a spot). I learned how to format a post from him. His maps are also quite good. (though I can't access google drives when I am deployed)

Everyone: I have an important question for everyone in the group and I would like each of you to take some time to consider it. Imagine for a moment that none of the terrible things had happened in each of your lives. Mikhail had never been born a Dhampir forced to live a double life, Kergh was born healthy and strong, Drisella had been born to loving parents, Kayene's mother and father had not died, Oswalds family was still alive and had never succumbed to plague, Ethaniel had never been touched by the dark temptations of his blade and Barnabas's father had not been a slaver.
What would a perfect physically version of your character look like? You could have a different facial structure, hair color or skin coloration, you could be taller or shorter. Please post in the discussion thread with a short description of what your "good" selves would look like. This is important and will help me later on.

Physically, I think Ethaniel would be the same. What would probably differ would be his mannerisms and the way he would carry himself. Without his obsession and Whisper's voice in his mind tempting and to some degree guiding him, he would be more relaxed and would enjoy his life a little more, since it would not revolve around the sword. His smile would be more honest and not quite like the crooked smirk he has now. He would still be calm and polite and friendly as he is now, but in a more open, less guarded way.
Also, just a thought, but mechanically, I think he would be a magus without any archetypes. Without his interest in the sword, he would have chosen a more balanced approach to blending sword and spell.

I hope the dwarf campaign goes well. Let me know if you start another Ruins of Pathfinder game, as I think the apocalyptic setting is pretty fascinating.
I second this. The alternate reality looks very very intriguing indeed and I think I would be very interested in trying my hand at playing in one of your games if or when you decide to start another one.

Kergh the Dwarf |

Physically my first instinct is that Kergh would look and act much like Arnold Schwarzenegger, with strength and nobility in abundance. Unfortunately still not so blessed with brains.
Cheers

Barnabas Wright |

Well Barnabas would have all of his lip ;)
If Barnabas hadn't needed to take up the family business, as it were, he most likely would have ended up a knight. So I expect the idealized version of him would be more vigorous and muscled, deeply tanned and clad in shining armour. Basically he would have been a cavalier, dashing and proud.

Drisella DiAmonicia |

That's a curious question to ask. I don't think if Drisella had bee raised differently that she'd be on the same path as she is now. I feel like she always had the potential to become a summoner, and that her Eidolon has always been a part of her, but that her experiences have twisted and corrupted it beyond a point of redemption.
However, who her birth parents were is a mystery, and depending on how the GM weighs in on that scenario it could impact how her "pure" self could have been. I see Drisella as happier (genuinely so), more proper but still with a wild side (oh shoeless Drisella, you crazy). But a "pure" Drisella would still be the same person at heart, she would be a canvas for another artist to paint on and shape.
What would matter is who was doing the painting.

Drisella DiAmonicia |

Post is up, took some liberties with the "robe" part of the scholar's outfit. Intended for there to be some serious dissonance between "waterlogged little girl" as she was seen in the prison to the persona she will be putting on now.

Oswald Turrill |

It'll be a bit for me. I'm in Security+ training classes all this week all day and was busy last night. Typing this on a break actually right now. Just DMPC me if you have to move on right now but I'll try to get someting up later tonight.

@Barnabas: I agree. As a god he is not fitting for everyone in the group but as a whole he is a pretty strong candidate if the group had to choose one deity to pay lip service to.
@Everyone: Feel free to interact as Barnabas is with Thorn. I understand that what your being offered is not much of a option at all. It is railroad-ish. But I promise that the goals that will be set out for your group while clearly defined will be yours to accomplish how you see fit. It will be both structured and sandboxed at the same time like Branderscar was. I.E. A goal will be given. How you choose to accomplish it is upto you.

Drisella DiAmonicia |

Some of Drisella's decent mental stats coming to play in that latest post. Kaynen would probably realize that Drisella has adopted some of his mannerisms and theatricality rather blatantly. She's trying to fit in.
