First post done. Split up her and Tiadora's meeting and her use of the box into separate posts. Given the Cardinal's level of power I figured he may have a few unique magic items lying around. This is basically just a plot-device to give Drisella some answers/have some exposition, but I imagine it is a questions/day item that uses contact other plane as a base, but provides more wordy responses.

Amazing post Drisella! Everyone, keep up the individual storylines. I will set a scene for us for the introduction of the others in the study if everyone wants to be part of it. On a side note I have family visiting over this weekend, and my posting my slow down a bit. After that I see my freetime opening up *alot* with several hours a day to be able to work on my various pbp's so be ready for some progress and interaction.

AoM: Can we buy wands through Plinkington and if so, can they be partially charged? Specifically, I was thinking of a wand of infernal healing for the party and a wand (partially charged if possible) of either acid splash or ray of frost for Barnabas.

"Oh, what wonders we have to show you."
Oh, yesss. I always loved that particular line. Also: "No tears please. It's a waste of good suffering."
By the way, also interested in meeting the other group, sure. Should make for an interesting encounter.
Kaynen: To perhaps save some time, would Kaynen be interested in accompanying Ethaniel to Blackerly's cell? I am asking so I could just include it in my next post and then move the action into Blackerly's cell.

@Barnabas: Wands are able to be purchased with partial charges. However due to the unique requirements of a Wand of Infernal Healing and Talingarde frowning upon infernal influences it would have to be custom made by one of Thorns associates and be a full wand at 750gp. Wands with spells that do not carry with it the evil descriptor could be purchased as partial charges. Fair enough? With 7 players it would cost 108gp per person... and it would also work on Mikhail.

@Ethan: Take your time and go with Barnabas first. We can do your dream scene after that. The three days before your training will actually be the longer amount spent in real time. When we get to the training, it will largely be a montage.
@Everyone: I'll do an intro scene in the next day or two for the other Knot. Feel free to run with your personal story arc's as Barnabas, Mikhail and Dris have, then I can move us into a group scene.

Oswald Turrill |

I'm working out Oswald's encounter with his wife's ghost. Also a heads up that I'm heading to Gencon on Wednesday night/Thursday wee hours of the morning. I'll be back on late Sunday or Monday.

@Everyone: Good Morning Guys, my posting will be picking up so lets try to get this train rolling again. I just posted the introduction of the VII - Seventh Knot, the White Ravens. Feel free to interact with them as much or as little as you might like.
@Kaynen and Ethan: I saw your post and will interact with a post later today.
@Everyone: Does anyone have something I missed that you want me to play off of or reply to?

F. Castor |

I will be out of town for the next week or so for some much much needed vacation, so internet access will be a bit sketchy. I will not be able to post at all during this weekend, but I should have some access to a computer from Monday onward. Please feel free to DMPC Ethaniel if necessary.

Kaynen Catesby |

Posting today... was out all weekend, and a hectic Monday.
I hate being "the guy" slowing something down, but we do have a certain level of posting on this PbP that encourages me to refrain from a quick post in character towards a longer more well-thought one - especially since there's two scenes to tackle.
I've posted a quick one to advance the meeting with Blackerly. I'll need to tackle all those knowledge/craft/etc rolls in the other scene after work today!

Drisella DiAmonicia |

Just a heads up guys, I'm finally moving into my new apartment over the next few days and will be painting the rooms and doing a little bit of touch-up work on the place. After tonight my posting availability will be a little sparse until I get settled in, probably Monday or Tuesday.
If anyone needs to GMPC me feel free. I'll be trying to keep up but I might lag behind a little!

@Dris: Sounds good!
@Everyone: All updated. I hit a bit of a wall with the "meet the other knot" segment, so for that I am sorry. For what it is worth you will interact with them over the next few months as you undergo training. If you wish to interact further, let me know and I will post something up. What other scenes would people like to explore?

Barnabas Wright |

Boy are we getting a lot of milage out of that charm spell :)
I'm fine moving things along a touch just to keep up momentum.
If there is going to be months of in game down time, we should probably just hand wave it a bit. At the moment, I see Titus as Barnabas' entryway into the faith, as Kergh doesn't seem like the best choice as instructor. Also, if Yaris is willing, the Aspis Consortium is something that Barnabas would be very interested in discussing. They seem like his kind of people.

Ok guys, Way of the Wicked seems to be losing steam as Barnabas has pointed out. I have alot of options posted up for people, but it required people to pre-post the scene they wanted to do. We have exlored some of them, but I don't want to hang us up. Shall I move us along into the training and then work in some additional scenes as I can fit them in. OOC you are going to be at the manor for all of Spring and Summer before your first mission. I know its a long time, but the Cardinals plan relies on something happening during fall.
P.S. I Need to know what you guys want so we can get this one rolling again.

Barnabas Wright |

It's as long a time as you want it to be. I would say that most of the scenes that you suggested have been addressed to some degree.
At some point either Ethaniel or Kaynen will tell Barnabas what Blackerly said and with this crucial piece of information he will promptly sit on his hands until he is allowed to do something about it.
We're kind of stuck in the manor with not much to do. Drama requires conflict and we don't really have any. As such, any posts would mostly be of the 'Barnabas spends the day in the library' sort, which aren't exactly exciting. That fact coupled with an already low posting group is going to make things drag.
My recommendation would be to either inject some conflict, or move us along.

Kaynen Catesby |

Sounds good.
I keep looking at this PbP and wanting to post, but not being quite sure *what* to post sometimes... I think I'm a bit overwhelmed by the literary license some folks exert with NPCs (i.e. Mikhail with Selanna) and am thrown off by players controlling NPCs a little.
I don't object to it at all, I think it's brilliant, but I just don't know how to play it and worry that I'd step on something plot relevant.
I'm kind of expecting the cardinal to assign us some sort of mission and figure that we're just passing our time until such an event occurs?

Avatar of Mitra |

Kaynen,
You hit the nail on the head. Near the beginning of fall you are going to be sent on a mission. However the Cardinal wants to train you up to the point where he feels you will have a chance to succeed. The mission will be dangerous and it is important to his overall plan for shifting the power within Talingarde. To that end by the time your training is done and you leave the manor you will be level 3.

Super cool.
Though I wonder how we're going to explain why we have a cow following us...
Technical question: It seems that the illusion effect can alter clothing and appearance to whatever we choose. Is that the case?

Avatar of Mitra |

@Barnabas: Yes, the spell is a slightly modified version of a disguise/alter self. On one hand, it can't be seen though like a alter self but like a disguise self it can alter clothing and appearance to whatever you choose. The trade off however is that the circlets are locked into one "persona" if you will. In Disella's case she is a rater bustiest milk maid / famers daughter complete with her own cow.
@Kaynen: If you care to try to study the circlets later you are welcome to.
@Everyone: The crown/circlets are akin to hats of disguise in that you have to have some sort of object work on your head and visible. In Drisella's case it is the blue ribbon that is holding back her hair.

@Everyone: Going to wait a day or two to see the descriptions everyone posts for their character before adding on a little bit. Does anyone want to describe how Grumblejack changes? I can do it myself, but if you're having fun with it go to town.
@Mikhail: Excellent character idea. Much better then what I had come up with.
