Here a brave party might find riches and wonders--or death! Is your party brave enough to face the terrors of the unknown and find....THE FORBIDDEN CITY
Current Map
You can set a watch schedule.
The party is more vigilant and stays in place.
The watches are set:
Sandrion and Vardlon
William and Talon
Skirros and Bikmalu
Skirros continues a religious ritual. During the evening Talon has a feeling that he is being watched.
As morning comes, the ritual is one half complete. A fog begins to drift around in the corridors obscuring vision.

Sandrion yawns after a restless night. He then waves his hawk down and feeds him a couple of strips of dried beef.
As he prepared to move out, he notices the fog coming in. "I do not like this at all..." He then draws his rapier ready for trouble.

Milhar can take a watch too, since he suggested it. Spells remain the same, Milhar casts mage armour from the wand as we leave.
The elven monk looks at the mist and shrugs mentally. He nods to Skirros and places a sturdy hand on the relation's shoulder. "Do you feel your call has been answered?"
Then he checks his arrows one last time and readies to move on to the two slaves.
You have another 12 hours to get from 0600 to 1800 and finish the ritual.

Vardlon informs you the mist is similar to spell that creates a magic fog. The spell is obscuring mist. He also concentrates and sees detect good being used on a few of the group.
Unless any further input, I assume you will wait the twelve hours for the animal companion spell to complete.

It makes sense since there could easily be a trap just ahead.
The party waits another 12 hours, and Skirros is rewarded with an alligator to follow him. The obscuring mist continues.
The party begins to make their way back to the forge room. With the fog, you are going by Talon's excellent description of the room. The two slaves are no longer visible due to the fog. You approach the threshold of the forge room in anticipation.
Are you continuing in together, if so, where do you look?

Skirros kneels down and bows low to the crocodile. "Hello child of nature. I shall call you Bouzz in honor of the snake you ate. You probably still have a bit of Bouzz the snake inside you, Bouzz. Ah, the great circle of life!"

Looks like it is my turn to sacrifice an AC, he he.
Sandrion readies his bow, even though he can see nothing past the dense fog. "OK we need to see how far it extends out. Let me send Haster out to check it." He says to the others.
He gently strokes the feathered hawk's head and whispers to him, "Seek...seek for when you can see past the fog."

his first comment, does anyone know where this blasted fog is coming from?
Talon tries to get everyone to stop before proceeding into the forge room.
Talon then proceeds cautiously into the room. quietly attempting to navivigate his way along the wall toward the forge.

"A sensible precaution, Milhar. I think Haster would definitely draw some unfriendly attention." Sandrion nods in agreement.
Haster's AC is now 18.
I have no problem with Talon and Haster entering the forge room at the same time. Hopefully Haster will draw some attention away from Talon here.

Bikmalu waits outside the room. Knowing something of the usual spell, the mists trouble him, but he quietly waits to see what Talon and Haster find.

Perhaps we should wait and see how long this fog takes to dissipate? Vardlon says quietly. It shouldn't take too long, at least compared to bonding a new animal friend.

"I do not think waiting here any longer than necessary is wise, Vardlon. Although if the mist proves to be too great an obstacle, then waiting may be our only option." Sandrion replies while waiting for Haster and Talon to return.
As Talon moves into the room, he remembers the layout from his previous peek. As he moves in, he hears the rustle of the vines above him that grow to the ceiling. It seems as if small creatures the size of small monkeys were moving around quietly.
He does not know their exact location, but he his sure they know his. The fog makes vision very difficult as it hugs the ground.
Talon and company decide how to handle the creatures in the vines above.

Sandrion grimaces, "I do not think they will welcome us with open arms here. A fight is inevitable. Perhaps we can summon a creature to assist here, perhaps even an elemental to distract the beasts, or even lure them away!"

That mist has been around for hours. If we have no way to disperse it we will have t go through it. I suggest we teather to each other at very least in pairs if not larger groups and move through.
"I think I could manage to call a small whirlwind to us, but I can't promise it can clear the mists. It might be worth a try though."
If everyone is in agreement, Bikmalu will summon an air elemental to see if it can disperse the mists, at least long enough to see what is climbing on the vines.
I was going to allow Haster not to scout since you know there are creatures in the vines. Let me know if he is still being sent up into the vines or into the room.
Bikmalu summons an elemental of air. It does manage to clear some of the fog, but it just continues to come back together.

Good point there. Haster will stay put for now.
"Perhaps we can follow the elemental's path as it clears the mist away. Else I think we are stuck here unless we do that."

Good Plan. I will hold the rear guarantee in this case since that will be closest to or in the fog. Let's move quickly before the elemental disappears.
"Yes, I will only be able to command it to stay here for a short time." Bikmalu orders the elemental forward into the fog and toward where the vines were reported to be.

That makes sense, with the elemental up front. I should be able to command it from my usual spot.

The mist aparts for just a moment to reveal the exotic tasloi. Small humanoids adept at climbing very similar to grippli. They clutch javelins in their hands.
Place yourself in the room and act. The orange squares are where you have localized the sounds of the tasloi. They are up in the canopy about twenty feet up.

Milhar, did my crocodile get a mage armor casting? If not, could he? Also, GM, could you draw out the corridor a bit more? Most of us are still in the hallway as the front would have stopped as soon as they saw the creatures?
Skirros hangs back as he sees the monkey-like creatures. "Better be safe, Bouzztwo," as he touches the crocodile, releasing a magical incantation.
Bikmalu commands the elemental, "Grab one and drop it from the vines!" The elemental transforms into a whirlwind and flies up toward the taloi, seeking to ensnare one in its winds.

Is it possible for Bikmalu to cast entangle on the vines or are the mists blocking line of effect? If he can cast it, he will cast entangle with the objective of catching all of the tasloi. DC 16 save to avoid the entangled condition.

Oops, I forgot to say that Skirros cast magic fang on the crocodile.
You can pick where you want the entangle to be centered. Since you have only seen a few tasloi, it will be a bit of guesswork. Centering so the radius doesn't touch the ground and gets much of the room would be safe bet. Note the back of the room is overgrown with vines too.

Vardlon, waiting at the entrance to the room, wants to see what these creatures are up to before deciding on his action. (Probably daze, possibly magic missile, maybe something else.)
The writhing vines grab the creatures and hold many of them tight. This will likely provide an opening to rush past them without a fight.
Bikmalu informs you the small agile creatures would probably be uncomfortable outside their native habitat.
