The dashing pirate sits patiently waiting for someone in the room to strike up a conversation with him, but then he quickly remembered that patience wasn't exactly his best virtue so he decided to speak up. "Evening lads...and lasses" he tips his hat to the women in the room as he says that last part. "Wes Roberts is what I'm called."
Kayla - Black scorpion
Trailing behind Aodhiel is a very petite yet cute girl, long black hair in a single pony tail off the hack of her head. dressed in brown trousers and soft black boots and a back tunic, A thick seemingly cloth belt covers her mid section. at the back of her waist are the hilts of two swords easily reached to be drawn quickly, also a large pouch, (aka fanny pack) is hanging fromm the belt.
She moves nearly in complete silence. you would think her feet are not even touching the ground.
She appears to be keeping a pace behind Aodhiel like she awaits his orders.
Desidera Tahn
There was a grin from the warrior next to the cleric, looking over at him with a familiarity that said that she knew his manner, and his explanation. A shift of her shoulder settled the greatsword that she carried on her back as she leaned on the staff in her hands. "Uncle, that's a bit of an excuse, isn't it?" An exasperated roll of her eyes followed the glance and smirk at the gnome behind him as she continued. "After all, it isn't everyday that someone earns the word 'great' before their occupation, so why not meet them? Besides, don't act like you mind reading.. I've seen you with some of the almanacs."
Despite her (voluntarily) being the less diplomatic one, she had been raised with manners, and she looked to the man that had just introduced himself. "Nice to meet you Mr. Roberts," she said with a friendly smile, turning to face him. "I'm Desidera, that's my uncle Aodhiel, and behind him is Kayla. You've come to see Jaden Hawkstorm as well, huh?"
Wes Roberts
"It's a pleasure my dear," he says to Desidera with a charming smile "and yes, I have come to see the 'Great Librarian.' I always enjoy talking to librarians, and I've never gotten the chance to talk to a great one." He's lying of course, he didn't feel like 'I'm a shipwrecked pirate looking for a chance to redeem his name" was a great way to start the conversation. He then notices their weapons, "You're all well armed for a trip to the museum, travelers perhaps?"

Desidera Tahn
Desidera blushed, her tanned skin gaining a hint of bronze. "Indeed. I've found it's better to have it and not need it, than leave it at an inn, and have to weather a difficult position without it." There was a bit of a sideways glance and she sheepishly grinned. "Well, that and keeping company with my uncle, I want to be prepared for the things that one could look back on and say 'That was the start of an adventure' when telling a story."
Desi was also glad to be talking, since the foyer of this library was leagues prettier than anyplace that she had ever been, and to be honest, she felt a little out of place. She was also holding very still so that she did not accidentally knock something over or break it. She would be beyond mortified if that happened.

Greeting to all I am Awren a Paladin of Abadar, it seems the Librarian is rather late don't you agree? i have been searching for the last 20 minutes.

I haven't had time to work further on my background, so Kest'll just be a stranger to all yall.
A somewhat bedraggled looking young man drops into a chair with a sigh, his equipment falling to the ground with a soft thud. His clothing and gear are well worn and look like he hasn't had much time lately to maintain it as well as one might like. His short brown beard is a few days old and looks more like something he hasn't bothered with, rather than a particular look he'd been cultivating.
He speaks with short, to-the-point sentences, his tone neither friendly nor hostile. "Don't need an excuse to visit a library. Books are wonderful. Kest Far Walker. I'm not sure what I'm here for today, not books. Just finished a job, something drew me here. Normally I would be gone again by now. You folks look to be in about the same position as me."

Just realized we have two Aasimars and a Tiefling O_o this could get interseting.
Wes laughs, "Better safe than sorry I suppose! then pats his own sword, "I suppose I would be a hypocrite to disagree with that logic." He says smiling. It is a curious thing though, everything I've heard about the man doesn't give me the impression that he is a late sort of person. I do hope that lad is alright, maybe that sea hag Demerios is holding him up like she did so well against me."

I smile indulgently at my niece. Too true, the long nights spent reading before a roaring fire, her bright eyes listening attentively... I could not deny those peaceful years had been a balm to my wounded, war-weary soul.
"Ragathiel's service may call us at any time," I murmur, similarly armed and armoured, "and his enemies may strike at his champions at any moment," I pause, considering, listening. "Now, for example..."

Aodhiel: I re-read my post (to late to edit) but I missed something...that question was directed at you... sorry I failed to finish the sentence, got distracted mid-post
Wes Roberts
"Yes, yes I'm sure you're right lad." Wes sounds distracted as he stares off into space. Then, snapping back into reality, he looks at Desi and says with a halfhearted smile, "Superstition I'm sure lass, but I can't help but shake the feeling that you were right not to leave that sword at the inn."

Kayla, Wes, and Kest hear a noise from down the hall. They each start to run to it. The rest of the group follows them. As each of you approach the door you hear the sound of things being thrown around and rough voices. The door is shut but opens suddenly as you approach. Inside the room you see a tall ape with a red rag on his head. It has a silver streak on its back. This ape is holding a elderly human in its paw. There are 6 other ape like creatures tearing the place a part.
where is the tome of the Shory? About the time the Ape is going to say something else. The group interrupts.

Kest is up first.

Well. That's new. "Your ultimatum." Not one to mess around with people who threaten other people the first time they've met, Kest Knock an arrow and aims at the talking gorilla. next... about the arrow, did the arrow strike the gorilla? if so which one? what happened? did it hit the other gorilla?

By the way for right now combat will be theater of the mind. I am old school that way. All you need to do is tell me what you want to do and roll. There are total of seven apes, the room is 50 by 50 lined with shelves. The Alpha is approx 30 feet in the center from the door. There is a 20 feet space from his back to back wall. Each GH is spaced approx 15 feet from on each side. They are working at pulling books off the shelves. the GH that jump in the way of arrow came from the left side of the room. The room is well lit. Jaden is on floor not moving he appears to be unconscious.
Sorry let me be clear what happened. The Gorilla that ready himself jump in front of the arrow that was aimed at the Alpha ape. As far the skill check, can anyone tell why they would know why Apes talk?
As the Assimar cleric charges the Alpha Ape the cleric comes in to the room about 25 feet but is unable make contact with Ape. The closes Gorilla attempts to slam into the cleric but ape instead slams into the ape getting up from the arrow. They both fall prone. The Alph puts his free paw up and the other gorillas stay in place.
I will ask you once again where is the tome He is still touching his choker.

With the librarian unconscious on the floor, Desidera looked at the other apes before drawing her sword and heading to her Aodhiel's defense. "Uncle, there's something odd about that collar it has on, maybe?" There was something odd about this, but she could not figure what it was at the moment.
"What does the tome look like, and who are you?" she said towards the Alpha gorilla, not wanting to start a fight with a bystander underfoot just yet.

Finally a human who is smart enough to speak. My name is Ntanga, I am agent from Usaro. My king has sent me to find the Tome of the Shory. It is a book with a red binding it has unique symbol on it. We are the rightful owners of the tome. This human had a band of thieves steal it from us.I would prefer not fight if you can over the tome.
Ntanga gives the group time to respond.
Me'mori
Desidera lowered her weapon to rest the point on the floor, and shook her head. "The only person that knows where to find it is the unconscious man on the floor." She did not lower her guard just yet, though. "I would rather not fight right now either. Does that collar bother you?"

I make a minor gesture of delay, that I hope only Kayla will notice. We've nothing but this person's word... but I've learned not to rush to judgement.
"Allow me to attend his wounds," I nod towards the man, "and we'll see what he has to say for himself."

Wes starts fidgeting with a dagger that the he pulled from his belt. The way he keeps messing with it is more of a nervous tick rather than a threat. "I'm sure you know this, but watch yourself lass." He says to Aodhiel quietly. Then he looks at the Ntanga, "You seem a reasonable enough...gorilla and I'm sure you won't, but, for the sake of understanding, if you harm my new found friend, then I'll make one of yours into a fur coat." The way he said it wasn't aggressive, or threatening, but more like stating a fact with a smile on his face.
Aodhiel
I slip over to the wounded man. I'm aware of the risk the gorilla poses, but at least I'm protecting my companions - and even if the man is a sinner himself, he deserves the chance to seek redemption before his death...
"Ragathiel's light shine upon you," I murmur, the divine grace of Ragathiel's healing power flowing through my touch...
I use cure light wounds on the man. My prepared spells are Protection from Evil (domain), Bless x2 (1 traded for CLW), Obscuring Mist, 1 unprepared. My Orisons are Guidance, Detect Magic, Read Magic, Mending

Desidera was just pretty surprised at the situation, that being one where a librarian was accosted by talking gorillas wanting a book. There were probably a few other things that she was missing, but this was probably the most interesting moment of her life, if you asked her. She was very curious about what the "great" librarian would say when he woke. "If they weren't here for just the book, the librarian would be dead by now."
So as her uncle tended the librarian, she lifted the sword onto her shoulder and took in the sight with bright eyes. This was how some of the tales that she had heard started, and the thought that she might be in something that could be told later made her giddy-- on the inside of course. For now, her expression was that of a cat that far too curious for its own good.

The libraian wakes up and is groggy No No he murmmurs. Ntanga watches with caution. The man looks up at the cleric and says Who are you and why are you here?
Ntanga looks at the man says Where is the tome you stole from us?
The man looks and before the Cleric can answer him. He says in response The Tome of Shory is not yours Ape. Ntanga looks tense for a moment and then says. The Tome was purchased from you fairly by your standards. You failed to give it to us and that why we are here.
The Libraian counter back That was before I knew who you were and where you come from Ape. I will not allow the your godking to rule from the skies or to fuel your evil magic. The Tome is on way out of the city as we speak, going to place far way. Nida will see to that.
Ntanga looks at the group and says Now have you heard the truth, I do not wish a fight, but human went back his word.
Aodhiel
"Wait..." I say, quietly but forcefully. "I require a moment to think."
What's the status of the local legal system?
"You may not be aware," I continue after a moment, "but as an ordained cleric of the Divine Empyreal Lord Ragathiel, General of Righteous Vengeance, Lord of Good Chivalry and Lawful Duty, I can offer peaceable arbitration of your dispute," I incline my head, "should both parties be willing to submit to it."
Aodhiel
"Inventing such a godking to justify the theft of legally purchased property isn't acceptable either," I counter. "Divining the truth of such matters is far from simple," I smile at the archer, "not that I recommend you lower your bow at this juncture."
Wes Roberts
Wes waves his hand dismissively, "Yes, yes, fairness and righteousness and all that is fine, but the truth of the matter is that our unarmed librarian is outnumbered seven-to-one and they didn't waste their time in giving him a beating." As he is speaking, he strolls lazily towards the center of the room were Aodhiel and Jaden are. The he turns he attention to Ntanga, "Still, I see enough in my time as a... deck hand... to know that gold draws more blood than any steel. Woodes moves closer, trying to place himself a close to in between Ntanga and the nearest henchmen. [b]"Tell me mate, how much did your 'godking' pay for this tome?" Wes has his sword in his belt and his arms crossed over his his chest. He is doing his best to stay calm..
