Half-way through the charge Jorgan slows Spirit down and scratches his head. "Hmmm, must be some funny sonics going on in this tunnel. Coulda sworn those dragons were a lot closer."

When Wren reminds them of their red dragon friend, Jorgan says, "Well... you've got a point. But the red ones are evil, right? We only allied with him because it was convenient at the time. If he's upset and tries to kill us, well, it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to remove him too."

"What I'm saying is, let's go kill some dragons, eh?"

"Former red-scaled ally? Aren't we still searching for her orb?" Rog asks, excited about fighting dragons but not eager to break a commitment. "The idea was to save her kin, not slaughter them."

Wren nods, thinking the dragons should be put down now rather than allowed to spread and kill.

"Mebbe ye heard things dif'rent then I did, but I donnae think whatserface wanted us ter safe any dragons. Only seemed int'rested in th' orb. Question is, wha's in this fight fer us? Do we need ter take on a rookery? A pack o' dragons is called a rookery, righ? I think murder is more appro'priate. Wasted on crows, it is."

Kraygan takes another drink while the smarty-breeches figure out what to do next.

"She wanted the orb because it was enslaving her kind. You let the orcs go, and they'll be raiding human lands soon enough." Rog says with a scowl. "Why care about dragons?"

Correct. Evil is evil. The Red Dragon you brokered the deal with is evil as well. Naximarra is just choosing the higher road to free her kind.

"I don't care about them orcs, either," Wren says, grousily to Rogzul. "You're the first that I've ever seen that's been worth a damn, Squats."

"Nah, we gotta kill all them dragons."

"I ain't killed many dragons before. What do I need to know?"

A pair of fire giant soldiers stand guard at the mouth of the cavern, overlooking the side of the mountain.

"Look there," Wren points to the mouth. "Bet they are there to keep the dragons from escaping? Or monitoring their coming and going."

Wren looks around.

"Well, Yaktender, are you going to get up to them? Should we wait? Kraygan? You seem unusually calm. It's time to act."

Wren waits for the team to get moving so he might supplement their efforts with his magics.

Farin nods, eagerly. "Let me climb up behind them, and then we can slay them quick. But I am not sure what the dragons will do next."

Farin starts picking his way into position.

In addition to riding a nice strong yak, Kraygan is riding a nice strong buzz as well, which isn’t helping his stunted decision-making abilities much. ”Me armor’s got magic enough fer normal fires, but Dragon’s be somethin unnatural hot. Anyone got a spell that might work better?”

If not, he shrugs and begins trotting forward. ”Still think this is’re dumb idea.”

Farin moves along the wall to the spot indicated. Are we on high ground there? If so, he might change his tactics a bit... but let's see if he gets there first!

"Never fought a dragon." Rog says with a shrug. "My spirits might know some spells that help, but I won't be able to cast them today."

He double takes when he realizes he's talking to Kraygan, not used to the dwarf thinking this far ahead.

Farin skirts the northern edge of the cavern, sneaking up on the pair of fire giants looking out over the cliff face.

Jorgan waits for Farin's scouting report. "Wren, can't you do some magic so he can talk to us when he goes around corners like that?"

After hearing that there are fire giants ahead, Jorgan gets a gleam in his eye. "Well, Kray, are we charging in? You too Rog? Ready to go? C'mon!"

Once the party is ready to move forward, Jorgan moves ahead with them.

Wren delivers a sharp look back at Jorgan, trying to both appraise Jorgan's question by merit and by gumption to ask such a question.

"Well, you're assuming that I *want* to hear the bleatings of the Yaktender, Jorhoff," Wren answers Jorgan, trying to be nice. "Or the brainfarts to match the ass farts of Krayhoof and his mare-wife...but maybe you have a point."

Wren considers more.

"There is such magics, but I do not possess them...yet. Give me a few more weeks studying amongst the mages in Kaer Maga, and you will hear every thought of the Yaktender and every yearning of dwarf for goat in your mind, but now? But now? I cannot do that." Wren seems quite disappointed that he can't help here with that.

"You guys do what you must. I will counter the giants as best I can. Try ramming them off the ledge...that would be fun," Wren says to Kray.

Farin heads back to talk to the others.

"Seems they don't like the cold breezes, but I only see two of them. Want me to take them out, or do you all want in on the fun?"

"Ready when you are dwarves, my spear is set and ready to go. The elf has a good idea, if we can knock them from the ledge it may save us unnecessary injury."

Rog charges forward with Jorgan as soon as they're ready.

Sorry for the delay, was out of town this weekend and forgot to pack my cell phone so couldn't post.

Kraygan rides in with Rogzul and calls out to the giants in his most elegant gianttongue.

”Poy, no dumdums! Wair dwagins!?”

The giants turn in surprise as one nearly falls off the cliff as he slips. Their eyes wide in the dim illumination of their brightly burning beards only to find a mismatched pair of dwarves followed by an elf and orc standing in the middle of the bone pile. Their eyes quickly dart to the southern corridor.

One leans in as his hand visibly shakes.

The opposite giant grimaces his teeth and smacks a hard hand into tthe others chest.

He cups his hands over his mouth and lets out a shrill whistle into the air.

You hear bones falling and rustling down the southern corridor.

Wren double moves, sneaking forward along the south wall.

Farin pulls out a potion of spider climb, and then tries to stealthily move along the wall above the giants' heads.

Jorgan tries to lead Spirit quietly over the rocks behind Farin.

The goat makes a few clip-clops on the rocks, but that seems a bit natural in this environment. The dwarf, meanwhile, holds in his breath and flatulence for longer than would be expected.

As the giants turn around and Kraygan bellows out their presence the group quickly splashes out to the dark recesses in the cave and duck behind bones leaving just Kraygan and Rogzul standing in the center of the room.

Jorgan even manages to duck Spirit behind a massive horned skull lying in the corner as he peeks over the horns.

Sorry Jorgan. Accidentally typed your name in twice. It was meant to be Kraygan. I can save your stealth roll though.

Kraygan rides Haggis to the right to get a look around the corner.

”Yoo-hoo?! Dragon?!”

Kraygan rounds the corner looking for where the dragons are hiding and ends up coming face to face with not one, but three red dragons that hiss and snarl in his direction as bones scatter the floor.

The fire giants give chase as the see Kraygan darting around the corner.

Jorgan hides behind the massive skull as the dragons each take to the air. Their large wings buffet the hot air causing dust to swirl in Kraygan's eyes. Or rather is it cremated remains?

Uttering spells at 30 feet in the air the dragon's circle in on their prey.

Wren stares at the dragons, trying to ascertain their type and age and size...which might affect how he reacts.

Holding turn pending what is learned via knowledge check: SR is first question, DR is next, vulnerabilities is third.

Wren knows that these are young red dragons. Size large While no spell or damage resistance they do seem quite susceptible to the cold.

"I wish those guys would tell me which way they are jumping into trouble. My little legs just don't move that fast!"

Farin spider-climbs down and starts pursuing the fire giants. (double move)

Round 3

Wren wants to reverse course as the dragons come into view. He exhales deeply at the size and strength of the reptilian beasts.

"For piddlespot's sake, there are three dragons in here. Piddlespot,piddlespot,piddlespot!" Wren grumbles as he retreats and awaits the scent of burnt dwarfhair to reach his nostrils.

He begins a full round cast, hoping his yakkenhorde can occupy the dragons and giants for a few moments until the magic is released.

SM VII

Kraygan sputters in the wake of Rogzul’s challenge.

”Wha.. I... you... dammit Rog, I’m a dwarf, not a bird! I cannae fly!”

He begins to raise his beerhorn to wash away his problems and remembers that he has another horn that might be more helpful. Grabbing his drakesbane horn he puts it to his beard and blows.

Rogzul grins as he places himself in the middle of the upcoming fight. Wren begins a long cast to bring back one of his beings from another realm that surely wanted to see the sour elf's face again.

Even with spider-climb Farin's leg's aren't quite fast enough for these large caverns. Kraygan gets a wild idea and pulls the Drakesbane Horn from his pack and gives it a solid blow. The horn reverberates down the cavern walls as it echoes a little farther than it would normally out in the open.

Two of the dragon's head's cock down oddly as they cease snarling and instead look at the horn with fascination and desire.

The fire giant's move in and grab chunks of rubble from the ground and hurl it up at Kraygan.

The pair of boulders fly over Kraygan's head, clattering loudly among the bones.

As the horn ceases a great and powerful roar emanates from further south. Something much larger and more powerful than these young Dragons. And it seems as if the horn has angered it.

Jorgan joins Wren in summoning aid as the rift in time and space opens further.

Two of the dragons land, surrounding Kraygan as they are fascinated with the horn. They reach out clawed hands to touch such a magnificent treasure. "Where did you get this?" One calls out.

Meanwhile the green dragon slams down into the pile of hollow bones and with a roar sends a gout of flame over Kraygan, Haggis and Rogzul.

Farin grabs his potion of haste and drinks it down, knowing that without it, he will be chasing shadows this battle.

Wren finishes his spell, summoning 1d3 ⇒ 3 augmented huge air elementals.

"Kill the giants and that one jerk dragon that is breathing fire. Don't die. Use your long blowy arms to avoid their attacks. There is much work to be done here," Wren orders the elementals.

Jorgan decides to leave the giants to Wren's elementals and instead rides up behind Kray and Rog to stab at the red dragon.

Kraygan avoids most of the heat, but Haggis comes away smelling like seared mutton.

Seeing how the two dragons react to the Drakesbane Horn, and recalling that other dragons might have the opposite reaction, Kraygan girls the horn over between the two Fire giants.

Jorgan moves in behind Kraygan and stabs at the fascinated dragon, breaking the effect. Heartspit smashes through several layers of scales and into the dragon's side. Though it isn't enough to grapple it.

Rogzul weathers the flames as they wash over him, mostly blocked by Kraygan. Rogzul's spirits help guide his hand and his dragon bane spear as it punctures the young dragon's neck. As the orc moves to strike again an invisible magical shield seems to stop and hinder his strike.

The elementals slowly batter away at the fire giant's backs. Each blow brings an unnatural chill as it bruises skin and breaks bone.

Farin quaffs a potion to try and keep up with his companions as the giants have a longer stride than his short halfling legs.

While normally the giants would be eager for the horn. They are quite distracted by the onslaught of elementals surrounding them. Though the remaining fascinated dragon's head jerks up as it follows the trajectory of the horn.

Greatswords in hand the giants work at defending themselves against the air elementals.

The air elementals seem to be far superior to the fire giants tactics as the blows don't hurt them too bad. The fascinated dragon leaps past Kraygan without worry towards the horn.

The pair of clear-headed ones seem to have their eyes set on the dwarf as one charges in and the other bathes the group in more fire.

GM Tyr, the elementals have 15' reach which might be out of range for the giants. Going forward they might want to throw rocks at the elementals or take their swords to pound on dwarf and yak and halfling instead.
