”Hmmph. Bigger they be, harder they fall.”

Kraygan rubs the lace between the fingers of his left hand, the soft delicate material a striking contrast to the hard rage deep in his chest.

”When yer done with tha’ door Farin, how ‘bout ye hop up on th’ saddle behind me. Don’ want ter leave ye behind when it’s time t’ charge in.”

Yea. Literally all of Book 5 was maps for a crawl... I even cut it down some. This is last bit though.

Preparing for trouble the group buffs while Farin listens at the door. Seeing no traps the Halfling places his ear to the door. It takes a few moments as the entire mountain has a certain hum to it from the flowing magma to the anvils pounding. He hears the crackling of what sounds like flames and Clack...clack...clack...clack. the sound of bones tumbling together.

Farin describes what he hears to the others, and then loads a potion of invisibility into his vest.

Then he crawls up behind Kraygan to get a ride, since these rooms are all so large!

Drawing both short swords, he says with a grin, "OK, ready when you are!"

Pairs of volcanic braziers flank the walls along the entire length of this narrow chamber. Oily flames flicker from the tops of volcanoes carved into the walls in bas relief, and sparkling stones glitter like lava flowing toward the ground.

This room serves as the narthex of the temple of Zursvaater, the Prince of Steel. Fire giants carved the walls here to resemble volcanoes, creating small alcoves where the faithful leave offerings to Zursvaater. The sparkling stones on the sides of the carved volcanoes have no value, but were chosen because they ref lected firelight in a way that resembles lava.

Two fire giants stand guard on either side of the southwest doors. In addition to these living temple guardians, four burning fire giant skeletal champions stand eternal guard. They are clad in black full plate armor that smolders with flames that flicker between the armor plates.

The pair of fire giants looks uneasily in the room of the undead. "I heard they failed tests of their faith and Zursvaater took away their immunity to fire. Their bodies burned during their prayer." The fire giant guard nods to the burning skeletal giants.

Wren recognizes these undead to be burning fire giant skeletal champions. Like most skeletons that have a high resistance to weapons damage unless it is a bludgeoning weapon. As they are burning the skeletal champions have a fiery aura that burns all those that come near. Very vulnerable to the cold and have no resistance to Spell but have a built up tolerance to channeled positive energy. The fire giant skeletons each wear a set of masterwork set of full plate armor and carry a masterwork greatsword.

Kraygan thinks. It’s a big task for the dwarf. After a moment he shrugs, kicks over the horn of his saddle and plops to the ground beside Haggis. He gives his plan as he grabs some potions from the giant bag the yak carries.

”I’ve got a potion of enlarge. With that, and some more dirt and soot, I might pass fer a fire giant long enough ta run down th’ passage. I’ll pretend ta be comin fer reinforcements. I’m sure they’ll figure it out when I git close, or if those burnin skeletons come at me. Anyway, I’ll lure ‘em all down the far end, then Wren throws some cold at ‘em and Jorgan n’ spirit, n’ Haggis n’ Farin, comin chargin in too. Now, we’ll need ta be quick, so maybe I’ll drink this potion o’ haste too.”

"Almost had us fooled runt. These skeletons are set to attack any living thing that enters this chamber outside of us." The fire giant's blades erupt into a column of flames. "You see you are now entering a very holy sector. The queen will be very upset."
