I intend bedrock to be the stone just beneath the surface whereas yours would be the stone from the deep earth. Volcanic rock would be yours until it is able to support life, at which pint it becomes mine as it is now the bedrock for said life.

GM of Creation |

Ok, so just to officially clear up any confusion, we do NOT have any fire gods.
Tissari might have a thematic appearance and personality that could be described as fiery, but she is not a goddess of fire. Her domains are Creativity and Passion.
Meanwhile, Therien is the god of the sun, and plasma, not fire. His domains are Blood and the Sun.
So yes, Lortimas, you did creative something original. We lack an actual elemental fire deity.

Azrael, Lord of The Shallows |

By the by, I have already spent the 1 AP to join the Gods of the Vault, I just haven't done it in-game as Azrael isn't aware of any formal proceedings, and he also hasn't left The Shallows yet to do so. Also, I'm waiting on next week to make reincarnation; I've been talking with Aped and we're both gunning to add the Life Domain, so we're going to split the cost on it. I'm aiming to have Azreal be more of a god of death and rebirth, and he's also about to create healing magic and give it as a gift to mortals.

Liriiestil |

I plan on creating Evocation, just need time to write up the post.

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

I actually go to college with him, and we're in the same major. Our workload has been increasing pretty heavily so neither of us has been posting in our games as much as we'd like to. I've more had my posting fall off a bit in all my games, whereas some of his have fallen to the wayside more than others. I know he's working on stuff for this, though Wednesdays are his worst days...

It's cool Azrael. Unlike the standard LoC, I'm not going to penalize players if RL gets in the way. Just miss the Lord of Lions.
Let him know he's good on taking some time away from game to deal with school work. We'll still be around when he's able to return.

Apedemak |

Thanks, guys! I am here, I've been keeping up with the game, I've just been swamped with other work and I've got a big post coming in next to respond to a lot of stuff, so it's been taking a while to get things together enough to post. Wednesdays are pretty bad for me, but one of my classes tomorrow is cancelled, so I may be able to get something up in the evening.

Arathoth, He Who Lurks in Night |

Cool. Then here come the drow (sort of). No reason not to start of big. I can make some beast monsters to terrorize some towns and villages once I get to know the lay of the land better.
Also, do basic concepts like war, government, etc exist for everyone or do I have to grant those to my new race myself?

Liriiestil |

Curious to see what your 'sort of' drow are like. I planned on making a shadow variant myself. Not evil, or underground-dwelling, but sort of a race infused with shadows, like what I did with the Lirthari and the elements.

Ludvic Hearthrend |

Deleted my post on the recruitment thread. Sorry about that. But yeah I was wondering how to address the undead with the universal law of no immortal races. I have plans on how each type will have to feed to keep the reanimation up, but then they could live forever if they do. I was hoping for some advice before I dive in.

Arathoth, He Who Lurks in Night |

Well, being new, I'm probably not the person to make suggestions. But the easiest solutions looks like just exploiting exact words. The Cosmic Decree says that "so living things die and be born", but you can make the argument that undead aren't alive and are therefore exempt from that rule. It would probably p*ss off some of the other gods, but if you're playing the bad guy, that might be inevitable.

Azrael, Lord of The Shallows |

I personally view it as a rule to prevent races from being unkillable, rather than having races with no natural end to their lifespan. Outsiders are much the same; they are effectively immortal and do not die on their own, but can be killed like anything else. I don't expect undead to just keel over after a while, but I still want them to die when I stab them.

Lortimas, the Burning Dragon |

Is there a list of Decrees and Concepts? It would be nice to know what we have to work with here... :)
For example, I know my "dwarves" - magmen will eventually need metalworking, which I think has already been conceptualized by Tissari. It seems like a rather trivial thing to come to blows over, but it is something related to my domain.

Azrael, Lord of The Shallows |

Most of us have our AP expenditures listed on our profiles for easy reference. Tissari made those things, however she also gave them to you as a gift so you're allowed to use them as you see fit. Azrael has also created Necromancy which he gave to the world, meaning others could use it in whatever ways they felt like.

Lortimas, the Burning Dragon |

Well, she gave the Mining and Metal Extraction concepts. Metalworking would be slightly different. (The concept of heating metallic ore to the point of flexibility and shaping.)
But it would also be good to know which Concepts have been universalized.

Zakaz |

Also, please keep in mind that our world doesn't have to tow the pathfinder line. The decree that all things must die could easily apply to undead and outsiders when it comes to old age

Ludvic Hearthrend |

For the Arisen the idea behind them is that to exist they must gather wealth and power. The longer they go with out trying to pursue their greed they will begin to loose intelligence and motivation until they eventually fall back to the earth dead. All the undead I create will have to feed their animation in a special way like that or risk falling dead, losing their intelligence, or even being paralyzed in a unmoving body for all eternity.

Zakaz |

7d6 ouch. We can roll multiple rounds, that's fine by me. Zakaz is on the back foot so his dice are misty going into defence at the moment. I'll have a post up soon unless you beat me to it.

Azrael, Lord of The Shallows |

Shess, I'm fairly certain that relic would be defying my cosmic decree on the nature of souls. If the dagger traps them, they can no loger come to me for judgment, so i'm not sure that would work. I'm open to other's thoughts on the matter, but that's my immediate conclusion based on looking at it.
Of course, there's no reason you can't just change the flavor of the relic.
Alternately, even if it doesn't I would be aware of such a creation as it pertains to my domains of Death, and if it doesn't defy his decree I doubt he'd be very pleased about its existence. He would probably come to investigate and, upon finding whst occurred, help Zakaz in this fight.

Shess |

So my thought was that it gets around the decree like the 3 AP expenditure.
As for how it affects Azrael, because he has no specific ability to know things, he would only notice something when it began stealing souls that he should be getting. That being said, I fully expect him to be perturbed by it.
Just my thoughts on what I had intended. If it is decided that it cannot work that way I will change it.
EDIT: Just had a thought. The dagger won't actually do anything with the souls. It just places them in a state of limbo before going to the shallows. The dagger is just holding them..for now.

Zakaz |

I think I agree that it doesn't violate the decree, barely. If he was putting them someplace extraplanar to keep forever then he would be. The daggar just delays the souls.
Now, you would have to do some searching to find us. Shess has abilities that prevent him from being known specifically when he spends AP, so you would know that a god is preventing souls from reaching you, but you wouldn't know who, just as I didn't know who turned my Cull to stone.

Azrael, Lord of The Shallows |

My reasoning is that while it is technically only holding the souls, nothing states he ever has to relinqush them. Thus, since he could hold them indefinitely I would argue it violates the decree that I am the final arbiter of their resting place. As for it counting as the Boon does, there's nothing to suggest they're equivalent. Boons only apply to specific groups whereas this would apply to all souls he can capture. The two don't really seem equivalent. Also, while Azrael wouldn't know who did it he would automatically know someone did it as it affects his domains/creations. He also knows there is a secret god mucking things up, and that Zakaz was hunting for him, so upon this happening he would seek Zakaz out; after all, he told him he would be the first to know if he found anything. Unless your sanctum prevents me from finding Zakaz, I would be able to find him without much trouble, I would think.

Azrael, Lord of The Shallows |

My assumption comes from the Game Rules, specifically #7. It states you are automatically aware of any AP expenditure that affects your domains or creations, I would argue both apply. Even the ability that prevents other gods from knowing AP was spent doesn't make it so I don't know it happened. It would just mean I don't know it was you. You could argue I wouldn't know until he stole a soul from me, but that means you can easily circumvent the intent of the rules (e.g.; my creation of a blight on your people doesn't REALLY effect them until they start to die, so you can't do anything about it until they're dying off already). I think it's pretty clear rules-wise that Azrael would know.
I'm less certain on my position in regard to the relic, although I still do feel it violates my decree. However, that is less clear-cut to me, so I'm more open to alternate opinions on that topic.

Zakaz |

You would know someone did something that affected your domain and what the effect was as soon as it happened, yes, just not who because of his ability One With Shadows.
The relic does skirt the line. Shess could decree that his relic was immune to your decree's requirements, but then everyone would definately know he exists.

Shess |

If we are still discussing then I will argue the point that your decree says that the souls come to you for judgment and placement, the dagger would just hold on to them temporarily preventing them from going to you. It cannot hold on to them indefinitely. The souls would however be constantly trying to get to you. This concept is completely different than the 3 AP boon, which would declare that a whole species souls do not go to you. This is the mechanical argument.
For story purposes, this dagger is meant to antagonize Azrael and give him something to do, getting him involved. The likely byproduct would be a collaboration or at least multiple conversations with the pantheon he just joined.
