Hi everybody! I'm Andrew. I've gamed with some of you before, some I haven't yet had the pleasure. I'm looking forward to running your adventure!

This will be a Normal Mode PFS (not Core) game. We'll be starting as soon as folks are ready. Upkeep business:

1. This will be a party of 4 players at subtier 5-6. Please post here with the following info:

Character Name
PFS # XXXXX-X
Faction
Day Job roll (if applicable)
Initiative Mod +X
Perception Mod +X

2. If you haven't done so already, please put a few of your stats into your character subheading. Please include current/total hit points, armor class (all three), CMD, saving throw modifiers, initiative modifier, and perception modifier. Feel free to add other stuff, such as per diem spells or ki points or expendable other resources.

2. On your character's page, please include a stat block or link or some other arrangement so that I can find your character's full stats in some fashion. Stat block is easiest for me but if you have a preferred arrangement (such as a link to your character sheet), that's fine too.

3. Introduce yourselves and your characters in-character in the gameplay thread. Thanks for getting us started on that!

Secondly, a few basic expectations:

1. A quick-moving thread is more fun for everyone. Please post at least once per day, and the more the merrier. Take your time and roleplay your hearts out, but do post regularly and keep the game moving. I'll make sure to do the same. If you know you'll be unable to post for a while, please let us all know here and consider giving march orders to the party (especially if we're in combat) and know that the game will likely still keep moving.

2. I've gotten pretty familiar with the PFS/Pathfinder rules over the years, but obviously I haven't dealt regularly with every class or situation. So if you are concerned that I've messed up somewhere in a way that really impacts gameplay (which is entirely possible), please feel free to raise the issue here in the Discussion thread or privately and I'll do my best to correct the issue. It's all about learning!

3. Please pay attention to text formatting and the thread tabs. Use Gameplay for gameplay and Discussion for non-gameplay discussion. Use the [b] tag and quotes for in-character speech and the [ooc] tag for out-of-character commentary. Use spoiler tags when necessary and open them only when appropriate.

4. Initiative! I've fiddled with a few different initiative systems and I think I've found one I like--you can act when your name is bolded at the bottom of my most recent initiative post. If you need to post out of turn due to limited internet access later or something similar, please put your whole turn in a spoiler so that everyone else (including me) can ignore it until it's your turn.

5. If you cast a spell on a baddie, please tell me the save and DC as appropriate so that I don't have to try to dig it out of your statblock. Same goes for other similar effects.

6. Have fun and be the awesome Pathfinders you are!

I wish people would let the diplomancers do their job. As per the rules, you can attempt a Diplomacy check to influence an NPC only once per day, so if someone inexperienced does it, he can basically waste the chance for the whole party. On the other hand, you can always roll an aid another to help the main roller. Also since this is the Internet, there's no tone/face to relate with: I'm not angry or anything about this action, just explaining things. ;)

Point taken, Ouro. I was posting mostly because none of us had posted in 24 hours and I wanted to keep things moving, and it seemed to make sense to say something since I had just burst through the door. But I could have done it in a way that didn't botch things up or keep your character from doing what she's built to do well.

Also, I had somehow missed this request:

No worries, Aeris. I've had a busy couple of days and couldn't post. You meant well.

Kingmaker Tactical | Strategic | The Marchlands | Campaign Tracking | Liberation Points: 16

I usually massage things a bit for that purpose in PbP anyway. At an actual table, it's unlikely that you'll have the low-roller beat everyone else to the punch and shift attitude downward; to accommodate the limitations of PbP I generally assume the party is coordinated enough and the PCs with low mods are making aid attempts.

In this case, it won't matter because... *casts detect former faction mission* ...she's not an important NPC.

GM :
Since the chaos beast is slain, I was curious about the turn-to-goo ability and peeked behind the curtain at the PRD. The cure is 3 consecutive saves, which Sarion ought to be able to make before too long and Narvik could make eventually.

Trey - how would you feel about each of them just posting a bunch of those rolls, and you could use that the gauge how long it takes each to fight off the curse? Though if they keep suffering Wisdom drain...

Kingmaker Tactical | Strategic | The Marchlands | Campaign Tracking | Liberation Points: 16

That'd be fine, but I would like to avoid meta-gaming if possible, since nobody in the group knows exactly how the curse works. (On that note, could you spoiler your post?) It is possible for the group to do a hurry-up run through the rest of the house before they get too drained, or you all can sit around in the current room and let the curse run its course (and see who shakes it off, if anyone).

Got it. We'll see what those affected want to do. Apologies for the meta moment, I was just very curious how screwed we were.

Kingmaker Tactical | Strategic | The Marchlands | Campaign Tracking | Liberation Points: 16

No worries. It's an understandable curiosity/panic, especially because in PbP it can take days (or more) to see exactly how bad things are.

Can Narvik make a Will save to keep his form and a Fort save to resist the curse? Or does he have to choose for some reason?

Kingmaker Tactical | Strategic | The Marchlands | Campaign Tracking | Liberation Points: 16

You can make the Fort save at any time during your turn, so he could have made the Fort save before the standard action granting the Will save. Once the Will save is made, however, no Fort saves are needed for 1 minute as it effectively suspends the conditon (Wisdom drain notwithstanding).

So, if I can make a couple of Fort saves I can get over this? I'm really not sure what I need to be doing. Just let me know I guess, in fact, you can even make the rolls. As of now I'm only down the one point in Wisdom.

Kingmaker Tactical | Strategic | The Marchlands | Campaign Tracking | Liberation Points: 16

Sure, I can make the rolls. For right now, you're free to do whatever.

Kingmaker Tactical | Strategic | The Marchlands | Campaign Tracking | Liberation Points: 16

Okay, I think Sarion still takes 3 points of Wisdom drain (total), but I'm not certain. The full text of the curse is below. The statement "The victim takes 1 point of Wisdom drain from mental shock every round that it ends its turn in an amorphous shape" seems to indicate that. This only affects Sarion's Will saves (right?) so it's not huge, but I'm interested in everyone's thoughts.

Curse text:

Corporeal Instability (Su) Claw—contact (curse); save Fort
DC 17; effect amorphous body and 1 Wisdom drain per
round (see below); cure 3 consecutive saves.

A creature cursed with an amorphous body becomes
a spongy, shapeless mass. Unless the victim manages to
control the effect (see below), its shape constantly melts,
flows, writhes, and boils. An affected creature is unable to
hold or use any item. Clothing, armor, helmets, and rings
become useless. Large items worn or carried—armor,
backpacks, even shirts—hamper more than help, reducing
the victim’s Dexterity score by 4. Speed is reduced to 10
feet or one-quarter normal, whichever is less. The victim
gains the amorphous quality, but cannot cast spells or use
magic items, and it attacks blindly, unable to distinguish
friend from foe (–4 penalty on attack rolls and a 50% miss
chance, regardless of the attack roll).
A victim can temporarily regain its own shape by taking
a standard action to attempt a DC 15 Will save (this DC
does not vary for a chaos beast with different Hit Dice
or ability scores). A success reestablishes the creature’s
normal form for 1 minute. Spells that change the victim’s
shape (such as alter self, beast shape, elemental body, and
polymorph) do not remove the curse, but hold the creature
in a stable form (which might not be its own form,
depending on the spell), and prevent additional Wisdom
drain for the duration of the spell; shapechange and
stoneskin have a similar effect. The victim takes 1 point of
Wisdom drain from mental shock every round that it ends
its turn in an amorphous shape—upon being drained to 1
Wisdom, further Wisdom drain ceases and the amorphous
body effect is permanent until removed via magic (no
further number of saving throws can cure the condition at
this time).

I agree with your reading of it, Trex. The text talking about "additional Wisdom drain for the duration of the spell" seems to back up that interpretation too - unfortunately.

Aeris has a scroll of lesser restoration . He could use it on Sarion right away, but we're still waiting to see how Narvik fares against the curse, right? Anyone else have a means of casting any sort of restoration ?

Edit: reading the description again, it's ability drain, so my scroll may not fix it.

NOTE TO SELF:
Ouroboreia wrote:
"Highly interesting. Those statues are of dwarven origin and are traditionally used to decorate the approaches to important buildings in the Five Kings Mountains. The one in the northeast corner is genuine, while the other three are only passable reproductions. Maybe Passad doesn't know it. I'll leave him a note." The wizardess proceeds to leave a note to the Kalistocrat explaining her findings, emphasizing that she was shocked to see such pitiful imitations in his manor.

Just letting you know tht I'll be abroad this week-end, thus unable to post. See you on Monday!

Feel free to bot Ouro if necessary. She will attempt all knowledge rolls she can and impart her knowledge to her companions. If in a fight, she'll attempt to control the battlefield without stealing the spotlight, preferring to debuff a single, strong monster with her Reveal Weakness ability.

Sounds good, thanks for letting me know!

Just letting you know that I'll be away for one week - on vacation - so please DMPC my character as appropriate. I'll be back on the 17th April.

Also, if anybody has a box on a Faction Journal Card they'd like checked off, just let me know!

Thanks for the reminder, I think I will check a box off on my first faction card! But I think I can just print it and check it off, there's no GM signature or anything needed.

Kingmaker Tactical | Strategic | The Marchlands | Campaign Tracking | Liberation Points: 16

Yes, but per John Compton's suggestion I just ask that you let me know which one you're checking off. :)

Ok, got it. I had even read John's post, but forgot that suggestion. I'll be checking off one box for the first Liberty's Edge goal, having to do with liberating a slave, captive or hostage - though I'd like to check at least a box and a half, given who we had to rescue. ;)

A very nice Festivus reference in your finale post, by the way!
