Rúnar Arnasson |
Rúnar examines the keys and the keyholes to see if it's clear which goes to which.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Is the key fused to the scepter usable as is (that is, is the business end of the key poking out of the end of the scepter so that it could be put in a keyhole)?
Ygdnur Copperhand |
Will: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 + 2 = 16 Extra +2 for Hardy - +2 racial bonus on saving throws against poison, spells, and spell-like abilities. Probably should have thought about that with the rats...
Rúnar Arnasson |
"Gabriel - can you speak?" He shows him the wand. "Do you know what this does?"
Rúnar also examines the keyhole in the door that they came through and tries to determine whether the key at the end of the scepter seems to go to that lock.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Ygdnur Copperhand |
Ygdnur can't hold it in any longer "GWAAAAA HA HA! HAAAA HA HA..." He stops for a second, tears in his eyes, looking back and forth between the two purple ones, then breaks out into more laughter! "BAAAAA HAA HAAAA!!!" Still chuckling and wiping tears from his eyes he follows after Runar.
Rúnar Arnasson |
Rúnar stows the wand and grabs the map of the Salhar burial grounds, but pauses at the dark wooden chest with the copper bands. "We haven't opened this one yet." With his left hand, he touches the side of the chest far away from the lock, and, recalling that there was an illusion aura, attempts to see through any illusion.
I think I get a Will save to disbelieve, if the chest itself is under some sort of illusion effect (rather than something inside it). Also, is there a typical lock on this chest?
Will (disbelief): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
GM Tektite |
The party uses the scepter key on the door and it opens, to admit you out of the vault. You find the servant waiting on the other side. He looks at Gabriel and Gwion with dismay and explains that the party can keep the map and wand, but asks them to give back any keys you may have.
Rúnar Arnasson |
Rúnar points to the copper-banded chest. "A figment. Tricky. I guess we're done here."
Rolling up the map, he manages a small grin and says, "Well, that's that then. Let's head back to the Grand Lodge."
The task list mentions an "official charter and detailed maps" - I'm assuming we have everything we were supposed to get here? Otherwise, we wouldn't leave just yet.
Ygdnur Copperhand |
"Well, now that we're done with the list I say we report back and then get a pint. All this busy work has given me a thirst!" He watches the halfling ready himself with a mild curiosity. "Watch out! It's a tiny purple monster with a bow and arrow!" Ygdnur laughs to himself then walks on with the group.
GM Tektite |
As the group travels back to the Lodge, your route takes you through the Foreign Quarter. As you walk along, congratulating yourselves on accomplishing all your assigned tasks, you notice a throng of people blocks the street ahead. A performance art group commandeers the street, drawing graffiti to create a jolly hellscape complete with illusory devils comically dancing around in circles. A few citizens avoiding the crowd
slip off-street through a nearby alley, the only egress past the gathering. As you funnel down the alley, following the crowd, you seem to recognize faces that you have seen throughout they, the halfing, the red-haired woman, and the non-descript man. Suddenly you hear a shrill whistle from the red head as she dons a mask, and a hazy fog begins to fill the alleyway. The rest of the crowd flees and you are left facing four people in the haze.

Rúnar follows Gwion's lead and loads his light crossbow, ready to fire at anything that emerges.
In case Rúnar saw someone casting a spell, he will attempt to determine what it was

Ygdnur Copperhand |
Ygdnur will draw his axe and ready his shield, waiting for the mist to clear. "Can't one of you magic users do something about this mist!? Get it out of here so we can see the cowards hiding behind it!"
GM Tektite |
Ygdnur Copperhand |
Can't move myself at the moment, so I'm moving up two squares if anyone would be willing...
Ygdnur wastes no time after their attack. He runs up to the first guy he sees and heaves his whole weight behind the axe.

Ygdnur's attack takes down the nondescript man in one mighty swing. Out of the mist Ygdnur sees a halfling with blood in his eyes, come charging at him.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Damage: 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15

Rúnar Arnasson |
Oh, sorry, it looks like it's my turn... I was under the impression that when I enacted my readied action, I would move down the initiative order.
Rúnar drops his crossbow and fires a bolt of celestial magic at Ygdnur.
This is a ranged touch attack that will heal 1d4+1 hp for good characters. In my rolls below, I'm assuming Ygdnur is not "in melee" any longer, and since he's unconscious (helpless), he has a -5 Dex modifier vs. my roll. Based on his stats, that would bring his AC down to 11, so I think I hit.
ranged touch attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
healing: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Rúnar Arnasson |
Oh, yeah. The "touch" part of "ranged touch attack". Turns out it's fairly easy to hit unconscious armored fighters with a ranged touch attack! Not that it did you much good in this case. At least you're stable, though!
GM Tektite |
Runar your are correct on the order. My mistake, in my hurry to keep things moving I screwed up and forgot that after forgetting the readied actions. Allow me a little bit of retcon here, I don't think it will affect much. Gwion's shot for 4 damage hit and Runar's missed. They now move below Ledford in Init. order so Deandre is up
The redhead beings intone words of prayer and suddenly you think you see a second image of her.
