Ashwait unhooks her light mace - which hurtles at the armed thug about to 'bump into' Violet Red, then goes spinning back into her hand!

Violet had happily taken the lead to the feast hall. Having been outvoted in going to track down the shipments. She just wanted to get the clues to get this investigation over with.
Walking through the streets, she noticed the pair wanting do her harm and pulls her rapier from it's sheath.
"Today is not the day ne'er-do-wells. Back off to save yourself from death or, worse, hospital bills."
Intimidate: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Violet intensely gazes at the ruffian with the weapon, studying him as her first target.
She gets +1 vs guy with knife on some skill checks, and +1 for attack and damage rolls. Skills bonus (Bluff, Knowledge, perception, Sense motive and survival checks)

![]() |

"I second that notion. Scurry away NOW or feel the pain!" says Zhatara supporting Violet.
Aid Another (Intimidate) check: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
Initiative check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Initiative if needed

![]() |

Initiative, if needed: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Dalgron speeds up with the goal of getting closer to the thugs before they try anything on Violet. His eyes watch the thugs carefully, focusing on the dagger. He doesn't say anything, attempting to hone his energy in preparation for the upcoming beat-down he may have to give.

![]() |

Tekkanan's hand goes to first to a small pouch on his belt, then to the blade at his side. "Attention!" he murmurs quietly, "there are those who wish us harm." But he does not act yet.
Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21

GM Tarondor |

My fault. I was just looking for a statement of intentions. I should have been clearer. But I will use the initiative rolls you rolled.
A word on Initiative. We will not do actions in strict initiative order. We'll do it in block order. This means that in the first round, faster initiatives go first, but once the bad guys have gone, it'll be everyone's turn and I'll just say "everyone, go!". If you buff after someone else has gone, but in the same initiative block, I'll apply the buff to all your teammates, even those who posted before you.
Initiative, Thugs: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Initiative, Jerrik Payne: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Initiative Order
__________________________________________________________
Tekannan, Zhatara and Violet are up. This is a surprise round, so you can perform only a single move or standard action this round. You rolled pretty well on those intimidate checks; if you want to keep them as your actions, you can. If not, do something else, but roll again.
Any space with furniture is difficult terrain. Feel free to get creative with chairs and tables and whatnot. Note that none of you have yet identified the guy seated against the wall as part of this threat.
Tekkannan, Violet and Zhatara, go!

![]() |

Zhatara taps Dalgorn on the shoulder implanting the ability to form an illusory double near the monk then she concentrates her formidable willpower on the thug in the background, sapping his resolve.
Standard action, implant mesmerist trick "False Flanker" on Dalgorn (she'll activate it when Dalgorn attacks, DC15 to disbelieve) then swift action to use Hypnotic Stare on the thug keeping his distance from the group (-2 to will saves)

![]() |

Violet takes a step 5 Foot forward while swinging her rapier who she had studied for a movement before.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Damage, if hit: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

GM Tarondor |

Violet, as I mentioned above, any space with furniture is difficult terrain. You can't take a 5' step into difficult terrain. I'm putting your icon back where it was.
Tekkanan smoothly draws his blade while Zhatara uses the powers of mesmerism to startle one of the thugs and ready to trick him. Rapier in hand, Violet stamps forward, a slashing advance in quarte and thrusts her blade up at the thug's face. Scrambling, he parries her thrust with a wild sweep of his dagger.
The sound of steel ringing on steel brings the attention of everyone nearby in the market. Merchants yell for the watch or scramble to get out of the way. Others hurl colorful insults questioning your paternity and intellectual capabilities.
Recovering from the attacks, one thug drops gold coins on the ground and steps into a flanking position while the other stabs Violet in the side!
Southern thug, dagger vs. Violet, with flanking and sneak attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 171d4 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + 2 + (2) = 8
Meanwhile, a man near the back wall stands and points at the gold coins. “Thief! Cutpurse! I saw the whole thing!” As he glances at the pile of coins still settling on the ground, he shouts, “Wait, those are Molthuni coins—a bribe from your Molthuni paymasters? You traitors!”
As Dalgron begins to move, Zhatara uses her "false flanker" ability to aid him.
Southern thug, False Flanker Will save (DC 15): 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (9) - 1 = 8
_______________________________________________________________________
Initiative Order (bold=You're up!)
Ashwait, Dalgron, you're up! Remember this is a surprise round - one standard or move action only. Also remember the difficult terrain. Dalgron, remember you have a flank against the southern thug.

![]() |

"Now yer gunna see why ya shouldn't've messed with us!" The dwarf suddenly sounds a lot more dwarven as he quickly brings his arm around the back of the thug's neck and attempts to squeeze him into a headlock.
Improved grapple, flanking: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15

![]() |

"You saw the WHOLE thing, eh? Why don't you COME HERE and share the details with us?" says Zhatara in an imperious tone focusing her mind on the man in the background.
"This is abviously a trap. These should be the people who spread those nasty rumors against us in the first place. They are trying to frame us, but if we capture them we can make them talk... and force them to tell the truth about the Pathfinder's Society"
Swift action to use Zhatara's Hypnotic Stare (-2 will) on the man who just shouted and then COMMAND to force him to come forward (DC18 resist, cause AoO)

![]() |

Using the studied target, Violet attempts once more to stab the grappled man.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Damage, if it: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
She then moves back against the wall to get out of flanking.

![]() |

Tekkanan's fury grows as he sees his companions under assault. His blade already in his hand, he focuses for the briefest of moments and a slight glow runs along the weapon. Swift action to activate Arcane Pool to give the shortsword +1 He then lunges as the coin-scatterer next to him.
Tekkannan ShortSword: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 4 + 1 = 13
Shortsword Damage: 1d6 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 2 + 1 = 5
At the same time, his left hand is moving in intricate patterns, as he casts a spell.
Casting Color Spray - this will provoke from the thug next to him. Assuming it works, the save DC is 13.
A bright rainbow of colour bursts forth from his outstreatched hand, enveloping the grappled thug and the conspirator against the wall.

GM Tarondor |

Agitator Will save: 1d20 + 4 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (8) + 4 + 4 - 2 = 14
AoO v. Tekkanan: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 231d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Thug 1 v. Violet: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 121d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Thug 2 Escape Artist v. Dalgron: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
Zhatara's mesmeric ability saps the will of the hapless agitator, causing him to lurch forward moments later. In the meantime, Violet stabs her injured opponent and stumbles backwards.
Tekkannan slashes at one of the thugs, trying to cast a spell at the same time. The thug, seeing his opportunity, ducks in low and stabs up under Tekkannan's arm into the soft flesh beneath, driving his dagger deep into the magus's side. Poor Tekannan coughs up blood and collapses heavily to the ground.
Zhatara's target rushes forward into the battle line, barreling directly over the fallen Tekkanan. Violet stabs at him but misses.
The thug with Tekkannan's blood on his knife whirls and tries to slash Violet's eyes, but she neatly parries the attack. Meanwhile, the second thug slips through Dalgron's fingers like a greased eel.
[GM's Note - Jerrik is still flat-footed and so doesn't get the AoO against the agitator. Dalgron doesn't get one because he is grappled.]

Jerrik, finally able to pull himself together, fetches his wand and heals the fallen Tekkannan! If that provokes, so be it.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

Violet swings at the opponent to her left.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
If Hit: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Seeing Jerrik tend to their fallen comrade, she shouts, Jerrik, keep that wand handy, I may need it next."

![]() |

I forgot to mention it but Zhatara activates "painful stare" whenever the subject of her hypnotic stare suffers damage (as a free action). In this case she would have caused 2 more damage to the agitator.
Zhatara shifts her hypnotic powers on the thug that wounded Violet and orders:"Flee, vermin!"
Apply hypnotic stare (swift), Cast command (DC18), (standard)

![]() |

I take it he's not grappled anymore? Either way..
As the thug slips out of his arm, Dalgron pulls his fist back and unleashes a punch directly at his nose. "Where do ya think yer goin'?! This is how we do it in Davarn!"
Improved unarmed strike: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 151d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

GM Tarondor |

Use of a wand does not provoke an attack of opportunity.
Yes, Dalgron, you are no longer grappled. Map fixed.
Thug 1 Will save: 1d20 - 1 - 2 ⇒ (7) - 1 - 2 = 4
Tables fly and chairs splinter as the battle in the market continues. Jerrik heals Tekkannan with a wand-assisted prayer and Zhatara terrifies one of the bloody attackers.
Tekkannan, still your turn. You have 6 hp but are prone.

GM Tarondor |

Tekkannan wisely stays down. Zhatara's command worms its way into the thug's mind and he runs, crashing through tables and chairs until he finally slows down near the entrance.
Dalgron AoO v. Thug 2: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 101d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Thug 2 v. Violet: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 111d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
The second thug moves to engage Violet, who is blocking his exit. Dalgron snaps a punch at him, but he rolls sideways, slashing at Violet, who in turn blocks his blow.
The agitator backs up, shouts "For shame! To take Molthuni coin only to betray this fine nation!" and casts a spell.
A sleep spell washes over everyone except Tekkannan, Violet and the thug attacking her.
I need a DC 14 Will save from Jerrik, Zhatara, Dalgron and Ashwait. If you succeed, you may take your turn. Violet and Tekkanan can just go.

![]() |

Violet has a half smile in blocking the bandit's way, she was just glad to get out from between two of them.
As he misses his swing, Violet takes her rapier and attacks him, looking for a soft spot through the armor or such. "You will not leave here a free man."
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
If hit: 1d6 ⇒ 3

Will save 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Ashwait blinks her eyes when the spell washes over her, but shrugs the effect off.
"Nice spell," she tells the agitator. "Want to try mine?"
The redheaded girl takes a step to the side, putting the agitator in her view, and thrusts out her hand. Immediately, viscous grease bubbles up from beneath the agitator's feet, turning once-steady ground into a slippery slope!
Grease under the agitator. Reflex save DC 14 or fall down!

GM Tarondor |

Thug 1 Will save v. color spray: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
Agitator Reflex save v. grease: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Violet continues to duel with the thug at the door.
Tekkanan and Ashwait shrug off the agitator's spell, then return two of their own. Tekkannan's wild cacophony of light and pattern overawe the thug's nervous system. He clutches his eyes, stiffens and falls into a coma. Then Ashwait covers the floor in grease, but the nimble agitator remains standing.
Need Will saves from Zhatara and Dalgron still.
Zhatara, Dalgron, Jerrik, go!

![]() |

Seeing as the thugs are intent on fleeing, Dalgron kicks the thug next to him in the shins, brings his arms up under his enemy's, and attempts to lock him into a full nelson.
Imp. grapple: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

"Thanks" Violet feels much better, back to full strength and more reassured that she can keep the bad guy from leaving.

GM Tarondor |

Dalgron fails to grab the agent, Zhatara slips into pleasant slumber, and Jerrik heals Violet of her grievous wounds.
Tanglefoot bag v. Dalgron: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
"Stupid Molthuni agents! You'll never beat the free people of Nirmathas!" says the conscious thug, drawing a bag from his belt and hurling it at Dalgron. The dextrous monk easily sidesteps the bag which hardens on the floor.
Agitator Acrobatics v. grease: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
The dextrous, eloquent leader leaps lightly out of the area of the grease spell, then again invokes langorous arcane energies to sap the will of the Pathfinders.
The agitator casts sleep again, centered between Dalgron and Tekkannan. This will affect Tekkannan, Dalgron and two of either (1)Violet, (2)Ashwait or (3)Thug #2.
Exclude (1)Violet, (2)Ashwait or (3)Thug #2: 1d3 ⇒ 1
Thug #2's Will save v. sleep: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
The second droops to the floor, his eyes gently fluttering closed.

Tekkannan again struggles to keep his eyes open as magic washes over him.
Will Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Seeing the agitator flee, he does his best to prevent him, stumbling over the furniture, and making his way to the doorway, keeping clear of the magical grease. Reaching the doorway, he thrusts at the back of the fleeing agitator.
Shortsword: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 4 + 1 = 11 He has cover I guess
