Casting silence on an arrow. Then Vex swoops by and grabs it before circling back to the yelling drow.

Suddenly the room was a lot less noisy.

Brenna and Saphren flank the remaining drow soldier and cut him into ribbons. Orvignato's cries immediately go silent as Vex brings in the silence spell - not helped by Beshtori's magic missile slamming into the mercenary.

Realizing things are going very badly for him, he tries to push through the wall of thorns to get to the door, failing utterly. The elementals attacks fail to connect, however.

Zoso levels an arrow at the north door, daring someone to come through it.

Figuring the fight was nearly over, Lyra leveled her own arrow at the door, maintaining a ready posture similar to Zoso's.

Also readied action to shoot anyone who tries to come through the door.

Invisibly, Vex breathed a small cloud of intoxicating vapor into the stricken Drow's face.

Zoso moves in, firing an arrow which misses.

Orvignato doesn't even seem to notice Vex's breath, but he does notice Saphren's attack, which opens up a huge wound in him while he manages to parry or avoid the remaining blows. Roaring with rage, he gets to work just trying to destroy the elemental and find some way out of his incredible predicament. However, the thorns, being crowded in, and the giant elemental means his blows come to nothing!

The group continue to move in and attack, Orvignato, and it's Brenna who gets the final blow as she rushes in and with a roar brings her axe down, splitting the man from head to groin in a single sweep. He stumbles and collapses, a small spider crawling out. Below, the dancing and partying continues.

- an absolutely enormous emerald, worth around 6,000 gp
- an finally, several ledgers which detail the workings of the Razor Crown mercenary company. These would likely be very valuable if you could find a buyer interested in this information.

Besh brightens: "Oh! That's great - let's do that!"

I just auto-assume someone has detected magic.

Although your fight was certainly noisy, the building is raucous and a quick check of the door on the outside shows that nobody noticed. Beyond the door is a curving hallway lined with doors. Beyond the noise of the party downstairs, you hear the faint sounds of pain and pleasure from the doors down the hall.

Lyra kept her ear to the door, letting the others leave before her. Then she dismissed the thorns and walked through the doorway and out another one in the alley nearby.

With your target dead and his head in a bag, along with some very valuable papers, you cloak yourselves before dropping out of the secret entrance and stealing off into the bustling crowds of Zirnakaynin. It takes you a good couple of hours to finally return to the cavern which holds House Vonnarc, where you enter the tower once more.

The first son is not here to greet you, instead a couple of lesser apprentices who disinterestedly lead you through the insanity that is the tower before bringing you to the portal at the top. You step through the portal, and the world shudders before you find yourself in the room of Alicavniss, the First Daughter of Vonnarc.

She sits at her desk, holding a sheet of parchment before her as she reads. As you all step into the room, she does not even glance up as she continues to examine the parchment.

Lyra tensed, suddenly ready to fight for her life. Beshtori really had a knack for saying exactly the wrong thing in regards to Drow.

She seems disinterested rather than annoyed. "Yes. The notes detailing the operations of his mercenary gang." Beshtori hands over the notes and is not immolated

"Sit down. I believe I owe you some information for this service." A look of disinterest settles over Alicavniss Vonnarc’s nighted features, her gaze elsewhere and unconcerned. "The Azrinaes departed our fair home for a realm far to the east, even deeper below your surface home in the deepest reaches underground known as Orv. There, they conspire in a somewhat legendary cavern known as the Land of Black Blood. The Azrinaes were led there by their new matron, that mad snake Allevrah. It is she who seeks to call down the very heavens, to scour the lands of light of our frail kindred with the ancient aboleth glyph magic. Our legends of that time, of Earthfall, are quite vivid, and judging from what you have experienced this is a very real threat. Yet you do not know Allevrah’s target. I do, and it is that target I share with you now."

Alicnavniss continues to stare off into space, speaking in a bored tone.

"She’s ambitiously chosen to stab at our foe’s very heart. The Land of Black Blood lies beneath the hateful surface elf realm Kyonin, you see. Unlike in the days before Earthfall, millennia ago, this time there will be no sages spouting prophecies, no mages offering warnings. There will be no time for cowardice, abandonment, and retreat. The elves will not escape this second darkness when it comes down upon them. That is, unless someone were to warn them.

"I bear no love for House Azrinae and their fanatic mistress. Where dear Allevrah sees vengeance and glory, I see calamity and the impulses of the lowborn. A strike powerful enough to destroy Kyonin would certainly cause upheaval down below as well, and I am too comfortable with my current situation to let a lowborn trollop like Allevrah ruin that. And so I’ve told you what I know, and where these vipers nest. Even further, I know of a gap back to the world of light, a still functioning elf gate two days journey from here, that provides a connection to Kyonin—a connection, I might add, that my kin have known about for some time but are hesitant to use for various reasons all amounting, I suspect, to cowardice."

She produces a pale scroll from her desk. "This map follows a plain route, which will lead you swiftly from our realm." Knitting her long, thin fingers—both of flesh and of iron— the dark elf’s voice takes on a dread seriousness. "Our bargain is completed, yes, and I have granted you the further boon of your return path home. Should you manage to ever see your noxious sun again, in your short remaining years when you speak of your time here in the soothing dark, let your people know the might and splendor of the drow, and that first among them, Alicavniss Vonnarc, is generous."

Unsure of what to say or do next, Besh looks from face to face: Can... can we get out of this place now?! Is it really going to be be this easy?

As Lyra turns to leave, Allevrah speaks up. "One more thing, to hasten you along your way."

She produces from her desk the largest diamond any of you have ever seen, and quickly chants a few words. There is a sudden surge of incredible power, and you all feel something truly horrible - the melting of drow flesh from your bodies. Within seconds, the recorporeal incarnation spell that has protected you so well unravels, leaving you standing in ribbons of drow flesh. The larger and smaller of you feel your bodies painfully contort as your return to your original size.

Coldly, she nods over to the portal, indicating you should leave.

Bits of drow flesh make a squelching sound as she moves, caught as they are in her armor.

Lyr was left standing for a stunned moment as his body was ruined again. The sensation of dead drow flesh melting off was bad enough, but for Lyr it came with pain. The bone-deep ache of old wounds that had never healed fully or right. The sudden cold of the air on lipless teeth. The uncomfortable pulling sensation of burned skin stretched too tight. The arthritic soreness of old broken bones. Lyr gave the hateful Drow a long look with his mismatched eyes and his ruined face, then headed for the portal.

I'm me again! Saphren smiles as he kicks away the remnants of his old disguise. Ha ha! he says happily and skips through the portal.

Unsure if we are headed to the surface of deeper into the underdark.

The portal takes you to the top floor of the tower, from there you have to find your way out from the tower, House Vonnarc, and Zirnakaynin so you can get to the portal to the surface on her map.

In varying states of shock, you head out through the portal. The world shudders and you find yourselves, unescorted on the top floor of Tower Solacas.

Racks, shelves, cabinets, scroll cases, and diverse other iron stands, each morbidly sculpted into sepulchral shapes, fill this tear-shaped hall. Upon each rest countless tomes, skulls, scrolls, chests, jars, and other less identifiable curios, though, around many, the air seems to shimmer with barely restrained power. Standing upon a short dais at one end of the hall yawns an archway in the shape of a howling mouth. With the arch roils a sinister crimson mist.

Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15

Knowledge Arcana: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (16) + 17 = 33 Specifically looking to the arch

Looking to Lyr, Besh suggests casting Augury to ask a question about the arch: "I wanted to know if stepping through the arch will be dangerous - unless you can think of a better question...?"

Besh only has Augury 1/day as a special ability, unfortunately, so we can't triangulate with multiple questions, but I thought it might be worth a try. Also, if that isn't portal that will take us out of here, then I'm open to suggestions. Besh only has one 2nd level slot left, so unless someone else can cast Invisibility, there's not much chance of getting out that way (and likely there are detection and antimagic spots throughout.
