Realizing that they had likely found everything of value, and sure that Underbridge Exports were out of the auction, the team reports back to Sheila (30 minutes pass in searching, and in transit).

"Excellent!" the Venture-Captain beams with the report of the seekers. "For your next mission, I have an idea.

“We’re still a little short on funds and we need to make some quick coin! If you’re daring enough, head over to the Alabaster District and enter a hydra baiting competition at the Serpent’s Run coliseum. The Master of Games, Axetongue Droaeb, has offered a decent sized purse to adventurers willing to get in the ring with one of his ferocious multi-headed beasts. As always, this event draws a tremendous crowd, one whose coin will more than double the purse he pays to contest participants. “

You have little trouble locating Jorston “Axetongue” Droaeb. The dwarven Master of Games eagerly seeks out contestants for his most popular event. He offers you a rather large sum of money, based on the hydra he has in mind for you.

All that you must do is fight the hydra for 6 rounds, plus a bonus for each additional round they draw the fight out (as longer fights make for more excitement and more excitement makes him more money, especially once the crowd starts betting).

He draws out a short thick white oak wand and taps him with it before finally drawing out a scroll. He mutters the words which glow bright green, as the light fades and he touches Vars a third time you can see the words remain bright and new on the page.

It is a 12-headed advanced miasma hydra. N Huge Magical Beast.

It is resistant to damage that is not from a cold iron weapon, immune to disease and poison. Its bites are poisonous, and if you cut off a head or cause bleed damage, you will expose yourself to its poison.

It has fast healing scaled by the current number of heads. Of course, like many hydras, if you cut off a head, it will regrow two new ones, unless fire or acid is applied to the stump.

Hydra Traits (Ex) A hydra can be killed by severing all of its heads or slaying its body. Any attack that is not an attempt to sever a head affects the body, including area attacks or attacks that cause piercing or bludgeoning damage. To sever a head, an opponent must make a sunder attempt with a slashing weapon targeting a head. A head is considered a separate weapon with hardness 0 and hit points equal to the hydra's HD. To sever a head, an opponent must inflict enough damage to reduce the head's hit points to 0 or less. Severing a head deals damage to the hydra's body equal to the hydra's current HD. A hydra can't attack with a severed head, but takes no other penalties.

You can make bets, but there will be no in-game benefit. Unless you have Profession: Gambler, which will then be your day-job roll!

One of the heads lashes out, and bites Vars. However, it is not able to do any damage, nor can it grab on to the fighter. Vars then slashes into it, and it stands there, dumbfounded.
