Alrighty, map is up! Let's have those surprise round actions (again, if you already stated.)

The 'leader' goblin laughs as his cronies egg him on, and it is apparent that without quick intervention the cringing man will soon meet a messy end.

I will go ahead and let you know that I intend to move Tal closer to the fight, since most of his spells appear to be 30 feet or less range.

Yes, that's my intention, here are my rolls, let it happen at whatever is his initiative. Can I ask how cover by my friends will be treated at this distance?

Seeing the urgency to save the man, Delendir waves Vivi's sling over his head with all his strength and releases a shot at the mounted goblin.
Sling (2 range increments): 1d20 + 3 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (20) + 3 + 2 - 4 = 21
Bludgeoning: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

This is just the surprise round action, so they won't be providing the leader with any cover, even if you sling after they move.

As the goblins cackle and gloat and start to move threateningly towards the frightened man, the party reacts! Kiley and Vivi lead the charge towards the beasts, attempting to cut them off before they make it to their victim, Jessica and Tal trailing slightly in support.

Delendir decides to make his presence felt immediately, so sets a stone in the sling he just received from the monk. Whirling it around with some skill, he snaps his wrist forward and the stone goes flying through the air, cracking into the goblin leader's head with resounding force. All interest is lost in the crybaby, as you can tell you have the brute's undivided attention.

I think the leader is a goblin, thus the damage should be 9 instead of 7 as I forgot to count the +2 damage from my favourite enemy :P

Delendir steps ahead and loads the sling with another bullet. "Yes! We are here cowards! Come here! You are too coward to charge over us!"
He then releases another stone at the closest uncovered goblin.

Seeing that the man is in trouble and she can't do much to help defend him this round, Jessica shifts her grip to a one handed one on the glaive as she quickly casts a spell creating the image of the dead dog standing up ready to for another round with the goblins. Then she moves forward, glaive at the ready.

She casts silent image (dc 14) and then moves forward 30 feet to o10. She will also use her adoration ability on any attacks on her this first round.

Obviously going to depend on where the goblins move, but going to try to move towards the "scrubs". If I can reach one I will move to it and attack. If not he will position himself where he can get to the closest one next round... thinking around O-5 or O-4.

Tal bravely delays, waiting for some companions with a little more beef to advance before he also goes.

Jessica shifts her glaive to her left hand, drawing out a bit of fleece with her right, tossing it into the air as she chants and brings her hand up, palm open. The dead dog rises to those watching, curiously making no sounds. The scrubs cower, but the leader sneers at the obvious illusion.

After this, the priestess decides for some reason that she qualifies as the beef, advancing towards the goblins and to the rescue of the distressed man.

The 'regulars' hurry towards the party, taking care to go around the revived dog. The right-most goblin actually charges wildly, yelling in ferocity and fear as he slashes at Vivi with his rusty weapon. The unencumbered man dances lightly out of the way.

Dogslicer: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1

Delendir grimaces as the closest goblin engages the monk, choosing instead the next closest option. Like some kind of biblical David, he keeps churning out one-hit kills on the goblin Goliaths, dropping another heavily to the hard-packed earth.

The goblin leader, seeing Jessica relatively defenseless, urges his mount on, aiming a vicious swipe at the scantily clad woman as he charges forth. The priestess staggers a bit, the sword-like weapon drawing a deep gash across her belly. She remains on her feet, but is hard-pressed.

Horsechopper: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 4 + 2 = 25
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Crit Confirm: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 4 + 2 = 22
Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Vivi offers a warning that goes unheeded, so instead goes into a flurry of activity. From the right speeds a kama, connecting hard in the goblin's side, then the left hand brings forth the other, blade slicing across the goblin's face in a most efficient kill.

Kama: 1d20 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (3) + 2 - 1 = 4 (This was a 17...when I went back to roll the crit confirm it changed)
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 (Can't remember what this was...but it didn't matter, since it was gonna be more than 1)

Kiley adapts her plan as the leader goblin comes into range, advancing quickly forward as she swings her halberd across in a wide arc, axe head leading. The dog-like beast appears well-trained, dodging back so that the rider and creature avoid damage.

Charge!: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 5 + 2 = 12 (This was actually only a 10, sorry)
Damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

Tal comes forth, attempting to dislocate the rider from his seat with a spell of grease. The goblin hero manages to keep his seat, growling in anger.

Reflex: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25

Vivi winces as he hears the sound Jessica makes as the blade strikes her midrift. Catching a quick breath as the goblin before him falls, he takes a quick view of the remaining situation.

OK, if Delendir is able to kill the remaining scrub before I can get to him (or he me) then I will head to N-9 or so to threaten the riding goblin and his mount. If said scrub is still standing I will head to him and try to defeat him. Either way, posting a kama swing with the standard combat expertice.

Delendir steps closer to the goblins reloading his sling. As he sees Jess being hited hard he starts shouting "Noooo! Jessica! Get out of there!", he is going to deliver the sling bullet up to the leader head when he realizes and fears hitting one of his friends. Looking around the battlefield, he spots the remaining scrub and throws the bullet to him instead.

Did adoration kick in? Said I was using it on any attacks on me this round. Makes a pretty big difference on my action this time.

If adoration negated the attack:
Looking relieved at her close call, Jessica realizes that the plan for her to go out and help deal with the rider probably wasn't the best in the world, she attempts to disengage and get back out of his range.
Jessica moves back to P11, if she ends up provoking and is hit successfully she will channel energy, if not hit then she will ready an attack should he move in on her again. All rolls at bottom, of post

If adoration failed:
Jessica screams at the pain of her wound and realizes that this was not the best idea in the world. I need to get out of here, I can't afford another hit like that she thinks. She again shifts her grip on her glaive and channels energy to heal herself before she attempts to move. Then she regains her grip and attempts to disengage safely. Acrobatics back to P11, thankfully channeling is a supernatural ability and does not provoke an AoO.

He wiggles his fingers and tries his dazing spell at the leader.

for next time: Tal will ready his spells instead of delay. That way they have a chance to disrupt an attack

That is, the goblin leader is looking for that effect on the 'defenseless' woman. As he pulls up, attempting to swing at the priestess, he can't help but look at her again. His weapon droops in his hand as he stares at her for a few moments. He shakes his head, roaring in determination as he raises his weapon for another strike.

So no damage, Jessica.

Phew, glad I caught that now. Also makes it easy, my hit points are unchanged. Also, since I won't be maintaining the concentration this round, the illusion will go away on my turn. It did what I wanted. By the way, did the goblins actually interact with the illusion to get the save? Don't know if you mess with them much or not and I will be using them a fair bit I imagine.


I imagine they likely didn't 'interact' with it, but since the scrubs avoided it and the leader ignored it, it wouldn't have changed anything. Noted, though.

Fair enough.


Jessica deftly backpedals away from the dangerous goblin, allowing the more martial characters to deal with the foul beast. She sets her glaive, readying to defend herself in case the creature comes after her.

The remaining 'scrub' runs up to Vivi, yelling wildly as he swings his weapon at the monk. The unarmored man, having gotten 'warmed up', yet again avoids the blow.

Dogslicer: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2

Delendir, seeing all enemies engaged, draws his dagger, moving to assist Kiley with the leader.

The leader goblin turns towards Kiley on the saddle, as the dog-like creature also bites out! Kiley kicks out as the dog closes, making enough contact to deflect the bite. The goblin itself has trouble as the dog lunges forward, his swing going wide.

Bite: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Horsechopper: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

Vivi swings at his new enemy with his left kama, missing as the creature ducks under the blow. The right kama swings forth, but is also unsuccessful as the creature dodges aside.

Kama: 1d20 + 2 - 1 - 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 - 1 - 2 = 6
Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Kiley yells out an insult to the goblin leader, and the creature growls as the warrior slashes at him. He is easily able to avoid the poorly-timed blow.

Again those sparkles appear in front of the goblin leader, attempting to disorient him. The iron wills of the creatures finally fail as he seems to focus on the sparkles, his sword arm dropping.

Leader Will: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

I just realized I applied the favoured enemy +2 to damage, I don't think it is goblin, thus it should be a 5hp of damage for the mount instead of 7, sorry


Jessica advances back towards the goblin leader, as he looks addled for the moment. The thrusts her weapon forward, dealing a light hit to his right arm before he can dodge away. The goblin leader looks rather haggard.

The scrub continues screaming wildly, slashing at the monk. His blade finds a purchase this time, making a shallow gash across the monk's chest.

Dogslicer: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4

Delendir continues to move forward, dagger at the ready. As Jessica and Kiley keep the leader busy, he lunges forward to strike at the goblin's mount. His dagger bites deep as the beast howls, leaping back as Delendir withdraws the bloody blade.

Vivi swings at the goblin with both kamas, but is disoriented by the wild yelling from the beast, finding no purchase for his weapons.

Kiley again swings for the goblin, the attack looking like a hit. At the last second, the dog sidesteps and the halberd slides off the boiled leather the goblin wears.

Tal again performs the magical daze spell. And again the leader seems disoriented by the dazzling flashes in front of him.

Will: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

After Jessica and the Scrub

Delendir looks at Kiley and says "Get his flank with me!" the half-elf steps ahead then Don't know if she has understood me, I better will not wait for her to move, then Delendir launches another slash with the cold iron dagger towards the goblin mount hoping to dismount the leader and hamper his movement and advantadge.

I would usually move and then ready an action to trigger an attack once I have a flanking mate, but as Delendir and Kiley are not used to fight together I interpret they are not used to such kind of sychronization still.

Vivi does not even seem to notice the slice of the goblin, despite suddenly feeling a bit more warm there. He is too focused on now finishing it before it can turn and attack Jessica.

Attack the leader

Kiley, having far less success than her first attacks, stops the insults and focuses on the attack.


Jessica sees the two armored combatants beginning to tactically set up the goblin leader, plus Tal's spells seem to finally be effective, so she goes to assist Vivi. Unfortunately, she is not able to provide much aid and misses badly.

The goblin continues shrieking incoherently, swinging wildly at Vivi. The beast's unpredictable strike again finds purchase, slicing at Vivi's left forearm.

Dogslicer: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2

Delendir steps to his left, nodding to Kiley in an effort to be understood. He swings at the vicious dog, but his efforts are lacking as the beast dances nimbly out of the way.

Vivi grows more focused as his earlier successes seem to have run dry and the injuries on his person start piling up. Again he attacks, left then right. This time he changes his routine, attacking in a horizontal chop from the left, which the goblin ducks under. As its eyes are downturned, his right hand brings the curved blade point-first into the back of the beast's head, putting his opponent out of the fight.

Kiley figures out Delendir's game, then steps to her right. The confused beast is still focused on the ranger, and thus doesn't see Kiley's attack until too late. The goblin falls off his mount, out of the fight.

Damage: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

With the leader down, the dog attempts to flee.

Kiley AOO: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Damage: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

Delendir AOO: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17

Kiley is too slow to get her halberd set, but Delendir lunges forward, catching the beast in the ribs with his dagger, bringing it low.

Tal, nor his familiar, notice any new sounds of combat.

Seeing the extent of Vivi's injuries. "Vivi, come with me to the others and I will heal us all some more." She will gently take Vivi's arm if he lets her and helps him over to the rest of their allies. Once there, she channels divine energy once more to create a burst of healing.

Channel positive: 1d6 ⇒ 1

But due to being worn out from the rush of combat, she gets distracted and seeing the minimal success, she channels again.

Seeing the rather small amount of power she is managing to channel, she decides she is too tired to do much more and decides not to channel again for the moment.

As the fourth goblin Vivi has had to dispatch today falls, the focus leaves his mind and he becomes aware of the extent of his injuries.

Vivi ends at 3 remaining HP, so he is more than a little light headed I'd say.

As Jessica takes his arm I assume the one not cut Vivi attempts to smile, despite the blood loss.

"... I give thanks ... to you, Madam... no, not right word... Missus... no ... Miss ... yes, Miss Jessica. I think... I will be fine.... if I can sit for ... time..."

The healing from Jessica is not as effective as previously, but it does seem to help him sit up straighter and have less trouble with common.

"Thank you again. I feel a bit better now... my head is a bit clearer. Still, I think I need to stay seated for a while."

Again, Vivi smiles, this time a bit wider.

As he is seated, Vivi will attempt to see how bad things are in the town around him. Rolling perception for it now.

Well, had worse rolls and given he isn't fully healed yet I am blaming his missing anything on his wounds, ;) Thanks for the healing Jess, Vivi should be at 6/9, not great, but been at worse too.

Meanwhile he stops the leader bleeding and binds his hands and legs so he cannot scape.

"This one is going to tell us who gave order to burn the city." then looking around "Has the attack really ceased? We should go check the casualties and try to help with the wounded and stoping the fires." looking at the North gate he adds "We probably shall prepare guards and defenses until we are sure they are not coming back."

Jessica aids Vivi in sitting, "You're welcome Vivi, I'm glad I could help no matter how little it may have been." Jessica then move over to where the man was cringing to check on him, "Are you all right sir?" She will offer him a hand up if he needs it.

"Damn, too slow." Kiley mutters as the fight ends. She stabs the goblin dog in the throat before moving to the others.

"Hey, Vivi, you okay? Looks like you lost a fight to a pair of scissors."

"Scissors? Is that another of those gnomish magics? Anyway, I am better thanks to Lady Jessica... and the two goriblions I faced fared worse than I. I am glad that you are doing well though, Lady Kiley. Are goriblions always this violent? I have not seen their kind before."

Vivi looks over his robes.

"Also do you know of a tailor? My robes seem to have been a bit better off before today now."

He indicates the various cuts and slashes in the garments, all of which are surrounded by dark wet patches.

Kiley can't help but laugh at Vivi's question about the scissors.

"Sorry, I just couldn't help myself. Scissors are a tool. I'll see if I can show you a pair when we go to take care of your robes." she answers after her chuckles die down.

"As for goblins," she continues, her smile disappearing and her voice growing grim, "they are always that violent, but they aren't brave. They mainly attack caravans and travelers on the road. Other than one or two particularly stupid ones, they are almost never found in town."

Let me know if this is too much. She's smart, and has learned some from Shalelu, but I'm not sure if you'd consider this to be too much for her to know.
