suit: 1d6 ⇒ 6
alignment: 1d9 ⇒ 1
... looks like I got *The Empty Throne* This is the lawful good card of charisma. It represents those who are gone, or a ghost of the past that has taught important lessons.
how appropriate for an old woman who walks around with the spirit of her dead husband.

Checking in.

Either dot and delete in Gameplay or post some roleplay of the card you drew or reactions to the note on page 2 of the slideshow. I'll wait to start until I know everyone knows where to be!

I'm here, just trying to catch up after a busy day at work!
Suit: 1d6 ⇒ 6 Crown
Alignment: 1d9 ⇒ 4 Lawful Neutral
The Marriage - This is the lawful neutral card of charisma. It represents a union of peoples, ideas, or kingdoms that might be as productive or as ruinous as the bonding of a salamander and a water weird.
*edit* By the way, health and spells and such are renewed at the start of each quest right?

GM OfAnything |

Yes. You start the quest refreshed of hit points, spells, and (for pregens only) equipment.

Bah. I'll probably get some sort of curse. With any luck it will kill me outright.
Herald takes a card nervously.
Suit: 1d6 ⇒ 2 Dexterity
Alignment: 1d9 ⇒ 7 The Avalanche
This is the lawful evil card of dexterity. It represents disaster: an unthinking panic and destruction that overruns all.
He spits on the ground.
Figures.

Sensing no new danger, Elena fearlessly swipes up a card from the deck to examine it.
1d6 ⇒ 3 Constitution (Shield)
1d9 ⇒ 4 The Brass Dwarf
"This is the lawful neutral card of constitution, showing an azer. It represents a creature invulnerable to a current threat."
"Hmm, I'm not sure what this is supposed to mean," Elena scratches her head. "I've never been good at this sort of stuff. Is it supposed to apply to myself or my foes?"

GM OfAnything |

I advanced everyone up the hill to follow the good doctor. I tried not to rearrange too much.

Welcome to the rocket train!

The red part is the crater created by red lighting. It looks similar to the one you spotted at the top of the hill earlier, but you can see ectoplasm lingering on the angry faces within this one.
Elena does not need to roll again for a spoiler addressed to her.
Also, I swear I double checked the spelling when I made the initiative block. I must have hallucinated. Sorry about the misspelling! I edited what I could still edit.

Herald, I'm going to need you to clear up a few things.
The Great Old Ones don't appear to be legal deity choices on the list of Additional Resources. A cleric has to choose a single deity to worship, but they may venerate or honor any number of others. Your domains don't seem to match any published deity. Also the old ones you linked to are chaotic evil, which means Herald cannot be Chaotic Good and would channel negative energy, not positive.
The Daring Doomsayer trait and the Glimpse Beyond feat do not appear to be legal options either.
Might I suggest taking a look at Groetus?

![]() |

Looking into it. They appeared to be valid choices when I created him, but I'll adjust as needed.

GM Hmm |

Gods: all of the gods listed in the appendix are legal choices except daemon harbingers, great old ones, infernal dukes, malebranche, nascent demon lords, orc deities, outer gods, qlippoth lords, and whore queens. A PC may worship a dead deity, but such gods grant no spells or other benefits.
^ Good catch, GM ofAnything!

GM OfAnything |

I'm going to hold your action for now. Let me know when you've got it sorted out and we'll go from there!

Okay, I really like the "reluctant prophet" character concept, so while a Great Old One is what I came up with first, I think I can reskin him to a reluctant harbinger of Shyka.
A couple of resources tell me that she/he/it/they is a legal choice and I can keep Herald's generally Chaotic Grumpy Good alignment and channeling positive.
If approved, I believe I can keep the Magic Domain and swap out Dark Tapestry for Madness, which fits with the character concept.
Thanks for keeping me legal, I appreciate the second (and third and fourth...) set of eyes to check these things.
Looking at alternatives to Glimpse Beyond and Daring Doomsayer now. I'm happy to ditch both, as they provided very limited tactical use to me but fit the character concept spot on.
Assuming Shyka is a valid choice, my CPE action can stand and we can move on, I think.
Again, thanks for the assistance.

GM OfAnything |

Shyka the Many is a fine choice. The Magic and Madness domains work well, and you can channel positive energy.
The only remaining issue is that your alignment must be within one step of N. The Herald might need to be a little bit grumpier CN.
But, I agree we can move forward as you decide on details.

Trying a new format out. Who likes vertical?
I like both methods but vertical is a little easier (for me) to read if there are a lot of different statuses (damage, buffs, etc.) to keep track of across multiple combatants :)

![]() |

Swapped Glimpse Beyond for Saving Shield, and Daring Doomsayer for Focused Mind, and alignment for Chaotic (Grumpy) Neutral.
Hope this brings me up to snuff, and thanks again for the catch.
And I like vertical too.

I have a bard, but I'm pretty new to Pathfinder. I've always been drawn more to the RP aspect than the mechanics. Still, I try to lay out my posts clearly with redundancy so people can correct me. I appreciate input and correction - you won't offend me!
"+1 morale bonus to saving throws versus charm and fear effects. +1 to attack and a +1 competence bonus on attack and weapon damage rolls."
That's from the PRD, but the d20pfsrd lists Inspire Courage as "+2 morale bonus to saving throws versus fear effects."
When in doubt, go with PRD, right? (Since it's an official source and d20pfsrd is not.) Too bad an hour has passed and I can't correct my post now. I hate having errors in my posts; it's a pet peeve of mine. >:(

GM OfAnything |

The d20pfsrd entry you are referring to is a 3rd party feat. Confusing that they name it identically to the most-used bard ability.
An affected ally receives a +1 morale bonus on saving throws against charm and fear effects and a +1 competence bonus on attack and weapon damage rolls.
I did make a note above the initiative line to make clear what the bonus is.

GM OfAnything |

Third party refers to publishers that aren't Paizo (Alluria publishing in this case). The Additional Resource document for PFS only sanctions products published by Paizo, so any third party content is not legal in PFS.
If you are playing in a home campaign, you might be able to use that material. It would be up to the GM running the game to look it over and decide if it was appropriate for the game.
@Wormling, I prefer if you list your bonus separately on your attack roll (e.g. 1d20 +4 +1 rather than 1d20+5). It makes it easier to tell if you are remembering all your bonuses and calculating them correctly. Elena provided more information than I usually need, but I appreciated the notes she had explaining her bonuses.
My personal style is Attack(inspire courage, smite): 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 + 1 + 3 = 25 where bonuses are listed in order. Short notes let me match numbers to bonuses, look up things i don't know, and make sure everything is accounted for. I do abbreviate longer statuses (inspire courage to IC, for instance) after first use.

![]() |

+1 to Attack (inspire courage, smite): 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 1 + 3 = 8 formatting.
Saves a lot of back and forth of "where did you get +7? I only see +4."

![]() |

Yep, what Wormling said! The only real issue you might run into with PFS is that some folks tote around wands of Infernal Healing to use. One of the components is listed as being either a drop of devil's blood or unholy water, so there are a lot of good-aligned characters who aren't comfortable with someone using that on them without their consent. For example, my Shelynite cleric would refuse such an offer as long as she's conscious. On the other hand, my LN alchemist wouldn't mind if it was the most efficient choice available.
