Exactly. Sorry folks, RL issues (including my birthday yesterday ^^) have kept me from posting. But seeing that Nel has rolled initiative, it seems that the timing for my comeback isn't entirely bad. ;)
@Ronin: Hi, welcome to the twilight zone!
@all: Now lets jump into the fray!
GM Nel |
well, he IS an Aasimar, so being beautiful just comes with the territory.
GM Nel how Gp much was I to start play with? (Want to make sure my equipment is all square)
Max gold for cleric level 1, add in a cloak of resist +1 to compensate for level 1-2.
It's been pretty treasure light so far, should start changing soonish.

I'll post here as to not distract from the battle, but there's something on my mind regarding what's happening in the gameplay thread.
Maybe it's just me, maybe I overreact, maybe you all like it that way (in which case I'll try to adjust), so please don't take offense, just tell me what you think.
What I think is that pbp combat is confusing enough as it is, with people posting their actions half an initiative list before it's actually their turn (and yes, I get that it's just a simplification because of the different posting times etc), but: when you all start posting multiple turns worth of elaborate chatter, multiple times in a round and when it's not your turn, answering/reacting on things that haven't even happened yet (see first sentence), it gets really messy...
At least, I think that it gets that way when you have to double-check every post to find out when and in which order things actually happen, if you don't want to metagame and/or mess things up even further.
So please, folks, while I certainly don't want to ruin anyone's fun or tell you to do less roleplay - and as I said, if you all think it's great I'll try to adjust - please try to keep things easy while we're in combat, and chat to your hearts' content when we're out of combat.
Thank you for your attention, citizens.

I appreciate your bringing up your concerns in such a clear way.
As one of the greatest offenders (if not *the* greatest), I'll mention a couple of points.
1. We have been in combat continuously since Edwin's introduction on Sept 20th. (2 weeks) We are likely to be in combat at Ye Olde Sick Amore tree, for another 2-3 weeks. So I think Edwyn engaging a little extra dialogue to set the tone of his character, and start establishing relationships is reasonable. Otherwise he'd have to wait until 4-5 weeks of game time has passed before really introducing himself.
2. Several of my posts were to clarify my round 2 action with GM Nel. 1 extra post was to clarify who Grabbles is, in response to Bingo. 1 extra post was to clarify why the spellcaster was in front to Kaeso. So combining those (somewhat necessary) posts, with the roleplaying posts with Edwyn... yeah that probably came out as a blitzkrieg.
3. Your English is so good, I often forget you are translating, which gives the whole "Fog of War" thing an extra layer of difficulty for you.
4. May or may not be relevent: I had some concerns that Edwyn's roleplaying "style" might annoy the gents already present-- be a little exclusive of them. But now Dris is annoyed with him for not healing her, so she is less likely to engage in exclusive banter with him. Don't know if that was actually an issue, but I thought I'd say something just in case.
I hope a reasonable solution to tone down the "Fog of War" thing might be:
To continue roleplaying... but only on one's turn. If there are multiple people to address, just put @Mornie, @Bingo, etc.
Would that help, do you think?
Edwyn Cailean |
I often feel there is no better time to work out characterization than when in combat. It is when you truly get to know somebody is it not? Edwyn is a chatty guy to begin with, plus he was konked on the head a few times! So I apologize if I confused anyone, it was not my intent I just wanted to introduce the character. I suspect he will bond with the men better over battle considering he prefers the company of the women to begin with.
Mornaura |
Thanks for your answers. I'll wait for what the others might add before going into any details.
There's just one thing I have to add now, because I think it really illustrates my point. Again, no offense, but this is how combat went.
...somewhen in round 3...
Dris makes her concentration checks.
Edwyn makes his turn.
Norn makes his turn.
Round 4 starts.
Kaeso makes his turn.
Yadda yadda, clarification stuff.
Dris makes her turn.
Edwyn makes his preemptive turn.
Grabbles makes his turn.
Mornaura makes her turn.
Mites make their turns.
Bingo makes his turn.
Edwyn makes his turn.
Notice anything? ;)
Kaeso the Human Fighter |
I will endeavor to be more economical in my role-playing. I can see how it might be difficult to follow.
I want to add: I'm having a great time with this campaign. It's my first foray into RPGs in quite a long time, and I think I got lucky to find a good game. Thanks especially to GM Nel for running the game (complete with maps) after we lost our first GM.
Drispeera D'Lith |
In our Jade Regent game we play on VTT on Saturdays. On the other days we average 75-100 posts a day. So this is just sloooow for us. To be fair tho'-- This is the fastest PbP I'm involved with. (And to think I used to complain of posting 3-5 times a day, and still being overrun!)
Here, here that GM Nel is doing a great job keeping up with initiatives, posts, MAPS, etc. This is my favorite player PBP so far. (I'm also GMing one that I adore, but its a lot of *work*. GM Nel sets the bar high on what I hope to give my players.)
GM Nel |
Edit: Nevermind
And again making sure Grabbles took the one from the Acid Orb last time. And... the hex isn't affecting his saves now? Cuz if it was he woulda failed. Just checking. Thanks
Yep, I rolled it in there. Hex affecting the saves was indeed gone, at Moraura's turn. She switched it to Evil Eye targeting AC, which he failed the save for so lasts 8 rounds.
Edwyn Cailean |
I could of sworn I posted my post friday! I don't know if the forum hiccuped and ate it or if I just forgot to actually post it? either way sorry for the delay guys.
Drispeera D'Lith |
1. I have played Kingmaker on TT thru book one (then our 12 year group disbanded :( I told GM Skull, not sure if I told GM Nel. ) So I knew it was there, but was trying really hard not to metagame it. And I had Dris kind of encourage us to be thorough and go that way anyway (even tho the centipede killed her in our TT game, and had to use hero points to rez). GM Nel was giving us small hints thru Norn, but in character there wasn't really a reason that you would know.
2. For posting of important stuff you want to reference easily, like AC, intitiative, perception, saves, etc, put it all on the gender line of your character sheet. It will show.
GM Nel |
Sorry for the slow posts. Forgot to mention I am DFW this week attending a convention, so will be limited postings. Please feel free to RP, etc... and I'll move along the story when I can find some free time between sessions.
Wow... worst sentences I've ever written... :< blame lack of sleep and a stupid cold.
Drispeera D'Lith |
A wink is as good as a nod to a blind man, eh?
Just wanna make sure I'm getting my hints across. We talked *out of character*, but we never smoothed Drispeera's ruffled feathers *in character* about not being healed when she requested it. Wanted to get that done without actually ruffling player feathers. So hope that came across okay.
GM Nel |
Norn has no qualms about spreading his LOH love around. Just remember it takes a standard not a swift for me to heal others.
BTW, I wanted to give a heads up to everyone that we are getting close to level 3. So start planning ahead to what feats you want to take, etc...
Additionally, This will probably be the last chance to do a free retrain, in case you want to change anything about your character (swap out a feat, pick up an archetype you forgot, etc...). I think Norn is going to go Divine Hunter, having lost our ranger earlier.
Mornaura |
Well. My RL decided to sneak attack me, happened to hit critically, and of course confirmed with a natural 20. And that was just the surprise round.
But I'm sort of ok-ish again. More or less. At the very least, I'm back and will start posting again - just got to catch up on what you guys did.
Hope you all had a nice thanksgiving.
Drispeera D'Lith |
Hi Guys--
I've asked "Edwyn" multiple times to let us know if he's in or out. He hasn't responded. (I play with him in a couple of VTT games that he's still active in.)
So I guess we should say "out" at this point.
Sorry if inviting him and having him leave so soon was disruptive for everyone. i really thought he'd fit in great.
Our clerics are kinda like the drummers in Spinal Tap, huh?
There's another Kingmaker PbP recruitment going on. Maybe we can invite someone from there that looks good?
A
Mornaura |
Thanks for the nice welcoming-me-back, Dris. :)
And don't worry, not your fault that Edwyn decides not to continue this.
Could you please ask him if he wants to write a "goodbye-post" so that we know where is character went - otherwise I, for one, will assume that Edwyn (the character) decides after the fight that he wants to spend his time in a tavern in the next town instead of exploring with us, for whatever reasons. :P
If you spot someone in another recruitment thread who could fit on our "divine hot seat", put him on a leash and drag him here. :)
Otherwise we can always reactivate our own recruitment subthread.
Drispeera D'Lith |
Well I was taking a peek at the other recent Kingmaker recruitment. The GM there just made his picks yesterday, so anyone left over is fair game.
I thought doing it this way might spare GM Nel having to reject anyone, which he hates to do.
Here is the link
Other Kingmaker Recruitment
The Divine Casters that I see are Lady Zaldane/ Pai of the Redfeathers and
Lurking Tyranny/ Halest Droth.
Although... the first one was apparently unable to save her details, and the second one is a multiclass Paladin/Oracle and we've already got OUR paladin. So maybe this won't work. Or if we like the writing style of anyone that wasn't chosen we can just ask them to submit a divine caster idea to us.
I have another consistent PbP I'm in. I'll ask if anyone there wants to play a cleric here. Or maybe they could play Edwyn the Second.
Or maybe we just recruit again... (sigh)
EDIT: The other thread is talking about how Lady Zaldane really wanted to play in Kingmaker, and was the OP of the recruitment thread, and should really have a place in the game, and did not get in. Maybe she IS our girl?
And Re: Edwyn; I think submerging himself in drink to recover from his torture at the cruel little hands of mites is appropriate.
Mornaura |
Oh yeah, almost forgot about the mites... Well, curing post-traumatic stress syndrome from "those utterly horrible little hands" which "have been everywhere" with alcoholic beverages always sounds like a good idea.
Dris, since you're head of our corps diplomatique, would you like to invite Lady Zaldane?
Drispeera D'Lith |
So I got a reply from Lady Seldane!
I sent her this:
Kingmaker Group in need of a Divine Caster.
Are you still interested? I checked into the Kingmaker recruitment thread you started, because our ongoing game is in need of a Divine Caster.
We have a solid game going, with regular posting, and a great GM, since May.
We're about halfway thru book 1, so you'll miss out on the very beginning, but our GM is terrific at keeping the game moving forward.
He hates recruiting tho, which is why he's given me the go-ahead to recruit you directly.
If you want to take a look GM Nel's Kingmaker
And if you want to apply, get the character build info from GM Nel. Pretty flexible build guidelines.
Hope to see you there.
DD
She sent me this:
yes I can do a cleric of Shelyn for you all!
So GM Nel can you contact her to bring her over? It's "Lady Zaldane" from the Other Kingmaker Recruitment Thread I linked.
Kaeso the Human Fighter |
Hi all... was told to peek in here and say hi!
I am currently working on my Cleric and will hope to have her up and running soon. making her a real evangelist type. And hope to see her bring the weary to her goddess!
Welcome! You do know, don't you, that You Can Never Leave?
Seriously, glad to have you.
