It should be Saul's second room, Bojask.

Natalya doesn't know him much, but he fills the picture.

Two thoughts occur to Cameron, "If this is his room, where is Bojask then? Is he hiding? Secondly what if Saul sleeps down in one of these rooms?"

Precious few personal effects wouldn't you say?

Natalya shrugs as she glances around, then turns to Cameron

I've no doubt Saul keeps a spare room here in case he needs to kip down for any reason, I know I'd keep a bolthole with a few stashed essentials if I was a cautious girl...

She winks

In any case, no clues about what's going on in here, we should move on ans see what else is down here.

Nessa considered the question of whether Saul would have a room down here to sleep in and finally decided to speak up on the matter, "No, I don't think he does. Saul has a very nice bedroom attached to his office. He's not the type to spend his nights down among his minions, he'd rather sleep above them all as befits his station as their boss. He might have an escape tunnel down here, but not a bedroom."

Is there nothing of any interest in here?

With a shrug, Cameron says, "I guess Natalya is right, lets try the door to the left down the corridor."

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
He walks to the door and listens for a moment, hearing nothing he tries to open the door.

Nothing much: remember even NPC have a life, and plans of their own sometimes.

This last door is open, and the room is full of wine barrels and racks of bottles.

The odor is viscious and nearly intoxicating.

Near this last door, there is another set of stairs, probably climbing back inside the Gold Goblin.

You saw some descending stairs before Bojask's room.

Therric takes point once again.

So, how am I going to tell Saul that I'm quitting? I suspect it's going to involve coming to blows at this point...

Cameron prays once more to Desna to guide the way, and the fading radiance on his spear redoubles. He then places a hand on Therric's arm and whispers, 'Luck be with you." before following them down.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

Cameron casts Guidance on Therric.

Female Human Fighter 1 / Swashbuckler 2 | HP 29 | AC 18 FF 14 T14 | Saves +4/+7/+0 | Init + 4 | Percep +6

Natalya follows down the stairs, her eyes roaming over the darkness in the hope of spotting anything amiss before bad things happen.

New map under: GGU-Level2

The stairs descend some 10 feet under the previous level, maybe.

At the end of the steps, there is an old straight corridor, all dark.

GM:

Alayna, Therric and Natalya hear animal whimpering, at teh end of the corridor.

"Sounds like some sorta animal is in pain over there." Therric points to the end of the corridor.

Do we know what sort of animal it is?

"I somewhat doubt its anything domesticated down here, be on your guard." says Cameron as he advances longspear in hand.

He checks to see if the nearest door is locked.

Tilting her head to the side, Natalya turns her attention to Cameron

So, can you ull that light trick with your spear on anything?

she offers up one of her coins

If you can cast it on this I'll float it down the corridor so we can see exactly what's making the noise...

Presuming Cameron casts light she'll do exactly as she says

Cameron easily opens the first door, which seems empty.

Do you take the time to explore the room or do you continue to next door?

M Wild half elf | Resource Tracker | Cleric 4 | HP 26 / 37 | AC 18; 12tch 16ff | +7 fort +4 ref +7* will | +4 init | Acrobatics +6 Heal +6 Kn: Religion +4 Perception +15 Sense Motive +7

Cameron nods, "Pretty much yes, although only on one thing at a time. I wouldn't be surprised if Nessa could summon a light too."

Seems like a decent idea, probably best if Nessa can cast a second spell so we don't end up in the dark as the light moves away.

Cameron quickly investigates the seemingly empty room. Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19

Cameron finds with a quick check a few rags, some bloodied, some as "clean" as could be expected in the Gold Goblin.

There are rudimentary wood splints tossed on a table, and a few cheap alchemical remedies.

The room is probably a kind of small emergency room, but whoever acts as a doctor here should be ashamed.

Or doesn't care that much.

M Wild half elf | Resource Tracker | Cleric 4 | HP 26 / 37 | AC 18; 12tch 16ff | +7 fort +4 ref +7* will | +4 init | Acrobatics +6 Heal +6 Kn: Religion +4 Perception +15 Sense Motive +7

"Shoddy." remarked Cameron, his voice full of contempt, "But the Saul always was a cheapskate. Anyway lets try the net door."

Cameron walks over to the next door, and listens. If nothing seems amiss, he tries to open it.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24

Following the group Nessa heard Cameron's thought when he spoke it and said, "Nope! Why would I need light?" She thought a moment and continued, "Maybe I can figure it out sometime, but it'll probably take a while."

Cameron, as everyone else, hears distinctly dogs growling, and something squealing angrily.

Cameron:
you hear wood scraping on wood, but barely. Someone tries not to be heard...

Will post more later, being quite busy at work these days, sowwy.

Therric turns on his heel and keeps his sword at the ready.

Maybe I wasn't clear, as I was sick and tired yesterday (and today too): the sound Cameron hears comes from inside the room, not from behind you.

Cameron chews his lip for a moment before muttering, "Scratch that, it's defiantly coming from inside. Best be ready for a fight."

He then whispers a fervent prayer, "Great dreamer, I'm about to open the door and roll the dice... If it please you, bless my fellow gamblers and may their luck hold true!"

In game terms lets put Guidance on the whole party, that'll take repeated castings...

Once that's done Cameron tries to push the door open with his spear!

Just when Cameron would have needed some luck...

The door doesn't open when he pushes it.

it seems that it needs to be pulled.

Cameron spots Bojask and quips, "You bet on the wrong horse Bojask. Luck is with us, I can feel it! Somehow this puts a spring into your step, everyone knew this was coming after Old Scratch died, somehow the waiting was worse than the actual fight.

Cameron uses Sermonic performance, Aka Inspire Courage. Remember that gives a competence bonus and stacks with guidance.

Inside the room, Bojask moves, readies an handaxe and throws it at the paladin, aiming his head.. and missing it widely.

Nessa heard a familiar voice curse at Cameron and knew that they were really burning their last bridges with Saul now. Oh well, she didn't like the bastard anyway. Sadly she found herself unable to get into position to help with whatever they were fighting against so for now she bided her time and watched for trouble from behind them. Therric's scimitar miss, probably because the pain from the wound was intense, and that he frantically tried to avoid being injured worse.
