@hallowsinder: I'm ok with Aura of Menace. Normally the associated deities would be the constraint since Erastil, Iomedae and Torag are the three normally associated with Archon and all three are LG. But, the ability itself feels protective and I think that's a good fit with your philosophy and Milani.
@LackofFocus: Still active till Thursday night. Be sure to read up on instructions in the original post.
@voodoo chili: Argh, my huge post to you was eaten. The Pleatra is in Rego Crua {"Blood Sector") which is part of the Parego Dospera - just south of Rego Cader. This district has become the new unwanted, but legitimate sector. So, the tanneries and slaughterhouses that were once in Rego Cader are now found here. I can post more tomorrow on the major landmarks.
@Franco Nymmis: I'll be able to tell you a lot more later in the campaign :) Here's what I can say now. Delvehaven is found in Rego Pena ("Coin Sector") which houses the more lucrative trades and many houses of dubious standing politically or monetarily. Many rich merchants who lack the political clout and connections (some intentionally) to gain noble status or the attentions of House Thrune. Delvehaven was sealed by the Pathfinders during the civil war. Once Thrune established order in 4640 AR, the Pathfinders immediately began petitioning Thrune to allow them to reopen the House. But, it wasn't for another 35 years (more or less) that the House of Thrune decided to reopen Delvehaven - with their own loyal Pathfinders. Oddly, the Lodge was sealed again immediately and has remained sealed to this day.

I am also new to PbP and to the message boards here on Paizo. However, the Pathfinder Society games are only monthly here in Tucson and I would like to have a more consitant and varied gaming experience. This is my idea for a Gnome Summoner. I have indicated the region of Westcrown I would like to examine and the two NPCs I would like to introduce. Please let me know what you think.
Mina Seewicket
Mina was born in Umok to a small gnomish family, in number if not in stature, and thought the obsession of the town over goblins from the Chitterwood was much to do about nothing. Most of her childhood was spent frolicking with the domesticated wildlife. She found she was able to call to them and they would appear, a magic that many of the town possessed but came even more easily to her. It was not long before Mina needed more from life than this simple town could give her. She was concerned with the bleaching and set out to find something that would capture her imagination and excitement.
So at the young age of 40 she headed down the river Isled to land in Senara. As a gnome she was definitely out of place in this devil infested Chelish town. It was here that she first encountered tieflings and Hellknights, Order of the Pike, which have a small citadel here. It was here from the devilish population that she learned of other creatures from other planes. She also discovered that her presence was “acceptable” if she could find a way to entertain the various town folk. With her personality and good looks, she found she could manipulate their moods, ingratiate their favors, and if things went well, could become a companion of one of the inhabitants. Even as a gnome she became a prize of the most influential, be that man, woman or other. Through her study of seduction, manipulation and pleasure to move herself to better positions, Mina found her obsession. She met several others in her profession and, through a tiefling, was introduced to Calistria whom she took as her patron. The goddess of trickery, lust, and revenge seemed a very good fit. It took a couple years and during this time she was able to make a few tiefling friends. The town of just more than 5000 started to make Mina feel a little closed in and she was able to accompany one of the Hellknights back to Westcrown via boat.
Her reputation preceded her and it was not long until she was sought out by “The Rose” (NPC). “The Rose” runs a high end escort and entertainment service in the Rego Pena. (Red-light district will be the area in Wetcrown to be “fleshed out”) Her stable is often sought out by the once noble houses, especially when they do not want to be tied to other houses. Her escorts are all well known for their presence, exotic beauty, charm, and ability to please even the most discerning tastes. It was through these contacts that she met Gregord JeFeld (NPC), an aspiring Abyssal Sorcerer. His knowledge of the planes and of summoning intrigued her. Apparently there was more to summoning than just small woodland creatures.
Now at age 44 she has decided to explore her summoner path using her connections and skills she has learned to gain her access when she may need it. She has found a home and feels an allegiance to The Rose stables and Rose herself. Her tutelage helps her refine her people skills, and the unique experiences she can create are currently keeping away the Bleaching. Mina is always concerned with the influence that the rumored Council of Thieves might have on her life and livelihood.

@I'm Jo: This is where I wish the Advanced Race Guide was out. Let's see where you want to go with it on bonuses/penalties or whether you're just thinking of a really big Medium character. I think being permanently Large in game terms offers a significant advantage since it would give you 10' reach, large weapon damage, etc. I don't think the penalties to AC, etc. balance it out. It is also going to present problems in some locations.
For simplicity sake lets make him a big medium character. Would still like his height to be over 7' and weight near 300lbs to represent what was done to him in childhood. He gets a +5 for his strength so that represents the big hammer he is able to wield.
If you do not think this will work out with the AP material let me know. I am truly in the dark about this AP.
Faelar Braegen
*I'm Jo - If you want BIG characters who are still medium. Try looking at the Half-Ogre.
You can find him in the Tome of Secrets., I think you will like it.
GM - I have uploaded my stats into the Account part, now just trying to think of 2 NPC's. I had though maybe the tavern owner and the tavern barmaid. But haven't thought names for them just yet.

I find that when writing out posts (especially long GM ones) it's better to write it in Word first and then cut and paste it directly onto the boards. It saves a lot of heartache when you've got a copy on your computer available to send again.
Indeed. It's even better when you have dual monitors and can write out your response on one monitor while reading what they've written on the other monitor. I <3 dual monitors.

I'm going to withdraw my application (or rather my intent of posting a full application:). This looks to be an amazing game but i won't be able to put my concept into textform before the time runs out, and going on vaccation shortly after the game begins is no good way to start. Besides, i'm in a few games all ready so i shouldn't be clogging up any more spots.
I will however most likely be lurking in the game thread.
Rannald
GM/Lictor Lane you said:
@Rannald: I'm ok with the feat, but expect that you're going to play a character that has "reformed." I do not recommend an adolescent. There are going to be a couple areas including the start where people are going to be concerned about putting an adolescent at risk.
Ah yes another Thrune who has sold his soul... I realize that the feat lists it as a lawful evil outsider (implying devils). I was looking for something outside of the standard devils - my thoughts run to the Kyton as a lawful evil outsider but with ties to the Plane of Shadows. My other idea is that its not an lawful evil outsider - but some other type of outsider. And with the whole adolescent bit - I was going as the opposite of Jo. He has been trapped/static at the same age for awhile now, but not to impossible long. I was figuring he was somewhere around his late teens. So think Peter Pan, Claudia of Interview w/a Vampire.
Concept wise, I'm looking at starting with a dip in Bard (to flesh out skills and such) and then Conjurer with the subschool of teleportation. And thinking celebrity archetype for Bard - giving him a reputation of a daredevil or "human fly". And I'm looking to re-skin the trait Cliff Jumper into Traceur – a practitioner of parkour or free running.
I also noticed a certain mistake Aberian Arvanxi is appointed mayor in 4689 AR supposedly by Abrogail II, who doesn't take the throne until 4607 AR. I would suggest that he be appointed by Infrexus, Abrogail's cousin and predecessor.
This is the background I worked up (Warning it's a bit long). Any comments, criticisms, questions are welcome, and if you find this agreeable I will start on an profile.
Everyone makes mistakes. Some of those mistakes can be forgiven or corrected, but others are with you for the rest of your life or longer...
Most would assume I was talking about my father, Tatius Thrune; who had supported a botched attempt on Emperor Infrenxus' life and our family's inevitable exile to Westcrown. Or maybe they would assume, I meant my mother Sabine Thrune; whom after my father's untimely disappearance, agreed to be courted by a one Alexius Marsh, who robbed the last of our family's fortune sinking us into abject poverty. But for those who know me, can guess that I refer to myself. Some mistakes can never be forgiven or corrected...
I was born in the capital city of Cheliax, Egorian, and being a Thrune meant I had been born into the lap of luxury. I would have been educated by the finest tutors, attended all the right social functions, and served with distinction in the government or perhaps in the clergy. In otherwords a good pawn. Instead, from the age six on we lived in the Parego Regicona of Westcrown, at Vira Coniecto Donum. The place was old and neglected, a place to banish undesirable family members to. The slips here were ancient, the children and grandchildren long ago sold off, and were let to doter around the place. I spend my early years exploring that old place as well as the rest of the Rego Corna. I was small for my age, but nimble and quick, with a knack for climbing. I explored any where I could get into, I climb the sea walls and ran across rooftops. Heights held a fascination for me, an ability to escape and look down upon the world around me. At the age of nine my father disappeared, and a year after that my mother had been tarnished by Marsh. The last of the slips had been sold, and my mother and I were left to dwell in decaying finery and forgotten glory at Vira Coniecto Donum. My mother sank into a fugue, and I was left to my own devices. Soon I was lifting little trinkets in the Miratanza, sell kick-knacks I swiped from various vaneo's I visited or broke into, and about once a month I could manage to bribe my way to the Dusk Market.
At the Dusk Market I met Maius Maxius, he was in search of information on one of the fallen Wiscrani families. He needed a guide, someone familiar with the Parego Regicona. I was hired, and I was fascinated with his stories about his travels. Of course I didn't realize he was a member of the pathfinder society at the time. After he was gone though, I found the wayfinder laying on my window sill. I was thrilled at the prospect of being a pathfinder and leaving behind everything here in Westcrown. I knew a life of adventure and travel, exotic sites and thrilling dangers awaited for me. And I was in too much of a rush to seize it. I went to the Dusk Market when ever I could, to spend what ever coin I had on pathfinder journals or other exotic lore. And I dallied too long at the Dusk Market, and was caught out after curfew. Of course not by the guards but by what ever stalks the streets at night. I ran as fast as I could, but they were everywhere. And the strange snake-like shadows lashed out at me, and I burned cold. My legs too heavy too move, my hands clumsy to climb, and more and more of them. I stumbled to the ground and couldn't get up, couldn't move. I just curled up and cried as I waited for the end. In desperation I called out, at first for my mother but another name crossed my lips, Perderabo. I screamed that name, and I awoke in my own bed three days later screaming that name. I had been found on the lawn at Vira Coniecto Donum, delirious with fever. I had no idea how I reached home, but I was grateful.
I should have worried about what had happened, but I put that all behind me. My mother had recovered some of her wherewithal during my sickness. It was several weeks before I could leave my bed, but I eventually made a full recovery. Or at least I thought it was a full recovery. Somehow my mother had managed to acquire a tutor for me, a conjurer. I was to learn magic, luckily conjuration seem to come easily for me, not so much with the rest of my studies. My penmanship was terrible, my concentration abysmal, and after learning a few spell I seemed to hit a wall. It was during this time I would catch my shadow moving of its own accord. At first it seemed like a trick of the light, my shadow seemed to be one step behind me or sometimes one step ahead. If I watched it, nothing; but out the corner of my eye I could catch it at times. No one else seemed to notice, or at least mention it. Over time bits and pieces of that one night filtered back thru my dreams. As I caught bits and pieces, I would awake in strange places with no memory on how I came to be there. The worst was on the day after the death of Infrexus, I awoke on that morning atop Aberian's Folly flying a banner proclaiming “the king is dead, long live the queen!”. I became a bit of a celebrity with that one. I've gotten a reputation as a bit of a daredevil, someone without a fear of heights and a willingness to take risks. And things seem to have changed for the better but I realize now I had made a deal with an outsider, but no devil I've ever heard of has the name Perderabo. Of course, since that fateful night I haven't changed. Look at my face and hands, my size; listen to my voice – I don't look like a man about to enter his majority. I haven't aged a day in the last five years and I never get sick. Some mistakes you can't correct or be forgiven...
As a side note, I could see "hiring" Jo as a bodyguard to protect/defend me. Especially since we both has underworld background/ties and the opposite situtations.
Sazer
Finally posting on my witch concept. Image to change (i think)
Sazer, is a gnome witch, who works in a shop called 'Mystic Remidies' located in Rego Cader. The shop is owned by friedns of his, who sought out Westcrown to ply their trade in the healing arts. With the decline of the sector and danger stalking the night, business has been bad. Each evening, Sazer accompanies them to the dusk market as they sell their salves and potions for what meager coin they can get.
A extremely curious gnome, Sazer has tried on numerous occasions to explore Delvehaven nad has written to the pathfinder lodge in Absolom, hoiping for aid in exploring the fallen lodge. Recently he's recieved a letter encouraging him and a wayfinder. He has no idea who his benefactor is, and the mystery of the benefactor and the lodge consume his free time. Sazer is also enamored with the element of fire, seeing in its cleansing power a chanced to change westcrown.
Arknight
@Arknight: I use Hero Lab too. I guess I just don't wander into the Empyreal Lords too often. I'm ok with firearms (the non-gunslinger version is in the Inner Sea World Guide), but see them as rare someplace like Cheliax (and probably not something the Hellknights are big fans of). They are extremely expensive, so you're looking at an item to work toward rather than 1st level.
I can live with that :)
Another question.... How are your feelings toward Heirloom Weapon? I'd thought about taking it to represent a basket-hilted longsword that the character's father had left him...
Here's a couple of things I thought of too:
'Sister' Synrea - character's mother (elf), priestess of Arshea. Exiled from her home because of a liason with a human warrior/diplomat, Synrea found herself on the streets and a need for providing for herself and a newborn. For years, she worked as a prostitute until one day she found her way to a celebration being put on by the priestesses of Arshea. after speaking with them over a period of months, she joined them and gave herself and her son a home in the temple. She is now in line to become the next high priestess ('Mother') of the temple.
Grnash Polinos - Half-Orc weapons merchant in the Dusk Market and old friend of Synrea. He's the one that taught character how to use his weapons, and also how to celebrate in the Tavern. He knows the identity of the highly placed noble who fathered character, and is a bit worried that someday someone will kill him to keep that quiet.
Location: Arshea House - located at the edge of the 'red light district', the House serves as both Temple and Place of business for those who follow Arshea and wish more relaxed encounters than one would find with the followers of Callistra
Location: Eagle and Dove - tavern located on the edge of the waterfront where depending on the time of day the atmosphere is one of calmness and quiet (early morning till mid-afternoon) or rowdiness (rest of the day). Gernash can usually be found here playing a game similar to chess.

If we both get in we could likely know one another. I was planning on having Antal work with an apothecary, so being with the same or a rival could be fun. Just a connecting thought.
Also should have Description, Personality, Background, NPCs, and Areas up tonight.

@Samuru: Here is Milani’s Trait from Faiths of Purity
Trait: Talented Organizer (Milani): You are both knowledgeable and skilled when it comes to putting
together resistance organizations, thanks to your keen sense of what motivates people. You gain a +1 trait bonus on Sense Motive skill checks, and Sense Motive is always a class skill for you.
@Mina Seewicket: Go ahead and flesh out “The Rose” and her establishment. I don’t think it would be a full-blown red-light district here so much as what you’ve described, a high-end escort and entertainment establishment. Gregord sounds interesting too. Play up the Council of Thieves angle a little further. Perhaps “The Rose” is forced to pay them to keep her operation in the clear and fears involving the authorities.
@LackofFocus: Look forward to it.
@I’m Jo: That works. I have no concern whatsoever with the height and weight, just wanted to see if we would have to work out a balance for Large. I think we can work it out with the AP.
@Faelar Braegen: Tavern owner and barmaid are fine, you could also go with things like one of the streetpeople you know, the owner of a music shop where you purchase spare strings (nevermind, act, dance and sing), etc. One thing to consider with streetpeople in Westcrown is that they have to have someplace to hide thanks to the shadow beasts and curfew.
@voodoo chili: I’m going to do that now. I’m on vacation with weak internet access right now, so between trying to use an iPad and a laptop with mifi, I’m having problems I don’t usually encounter.
@voodoo/Moondark: Looks great. I think you have good material to work with for NPC s and locations. See my comments to Faelar about considering methods Ari has used to avoid the shadowbeasts – may need a nighttime hideout.
@TinyCoffeeGolem: A couple things to work around. First is those nasty Golarion gods…don’t see one with travel and trickery, even when going to the Empyreal Lords, Demons, etc. Also, this AP will be confined to Westcrown with one little excursion outside so I am looking for characters with reasons to stick around. Maybe he’s got a big scam planned and gets caught up in something else.
@Patrik Ström: Thanks for considering us. Have a great vacation.
@Rannald: I’m ok with the background, go ahead and work up the profile, plus your locations and NPCs.
@Ricky Bobby: Recruiting is still open until Thursday night. We’ve got a pretty good mix. I’ll post a summary to-date later tonight.
@Sazer: Looks like a good start. Rego Cader is definitely a tough spot to run a business. Keep an eye as I post other areas, but fine if you want to leave it there.
@Arknight: I’m fine with Heirloom Weapon. I know some GMs have concerns, but I’ve built a few characters around it myself. I think it has great flavor. Contacts and locations are good. Remember that Westcrown is a little unusual because of the shadow beasts and curfew. It doesn’t have the nightlife of other cities. I don’t see that as an issue with your locations, but it will shape them differently than they would be in other cities.
@Antal: Connections for you in Rego Cader would definitely make sense.
Antal Syiel
Ok, Here's my ideas.
Meddyg Apothecaries: A large organization of Apothecaries that does business under one roof in Rego Cader. The owner of the building and chief apothecary is Meddyg Niorlo, a Half-Elven Potions maker. Those who wish to sell there must pay him for the privilege, but it is cheaper than buying and attempting to start ones own shop, particularly with the cutthroat business model around the area. Antal can be found here most days, dropping a small amount to ensure that he can work as an apothecary and healer from the building.
NPCs:
Meddyg Niorlo: Antal and the Half-Elf who first employed him after his near death run from the authorities have become very close. Antal sees Meddyg as a mentor, particularly since the older apothecary opened his eyes about how useful alchemy can be to a healer. They share dinner every week, talking of many things old and new. Meddyg is a middle aged elf whose odd parentage has been a curse to him. Somehow his elven and human blood reacted badly, and have caused ugly facial deformities. He is a bitter man, but not without remorse. He has of late been threatened by rival organizations who resent his groups influence in Rego Cader.
Gwenwyn Roshyn: A beautiful Tiefling with a nose for trouble, Gwenlyn has been cast from society as long as she remembers. Her red-tinted skin, tiny vestigial horns, slender frame and long luxurious black hair mark her succubus heritage well, and she has used these to great advantage in her career as a prostitute. Antal visits her regularly, though never for the services she advertises. He taught her some simple potions to stave off disease many years ago and found she had an apt talent for poisons. Antal visits frequently to trade cash or healing supplies for poisons to keep himself safe.
Those work well enough?
Antal Syiel
In respect to the shadow beasts- do they fly or are they incorporeal? Would they come out over the water? Would sleeping out on barge be safe...er? I take it they keep away from fire and light- Would it be safe to be in an enclosed ruin somewhere with a fire or other light source at the entrance?
While it's never explicitly spelled out how many and what varieties the shadow beasts are, they do have issues with light, avoiding it if they can. However, unless you had a roaring fire at the entrance, I don't know if it would keep them away. They are not incorporeal. Just a few thoughts.
Mina Seewicket
Here are my thoughts for
"The Rose"
Human Male
Rouge -5/Assassin -1
The Rose is the moniker of the proprietor of the high end escort service, The House of Thorns, located in Rego Sacero. His public persona is that of a somewhat attractive female, just out of her prime (age indeterminate) for performing escort services. Back story would lead you to believe that “The Rose” was a former worker with good business sense that was handpicked to take over for the last Rose when she retired (expired). Each “Rose” will have a tattoo of a rose on their chest. Dresses revealing cleavage will sometimes expose parts of the flower, stem, leaves, or thorns.
In reality “The Rose” is a male from a small minor noble family of Mitranza. Once a family with influence in the town they are now beholden to the House of Rosala. Carethin uses this position to make money and support his family and increase their influence in Westcrown society. While it may seem that he/she is making money off of selling flesh, the real coin of commerce is information. Since the escorts of this establishment are highly sought after and prized in the upper echelons of the Westcrown hierarchy, they are in a prime location, social events or private quarters, to learn tidbits of information. Carethin uses this information both for personal gain as Carethin Mitranza, or as bargaining tool as “The Rose”.
Carethin is a master of disguise and deception. He plays up his weak and frail appearance as a male and uses it as an asset when disguised as a female. His knowledge of the Nobles enables him to make connections other would not be able to see. He was able to take over from his aunt a few years ago when she was no longer able to manage the business due to an untimely death. Carethin is still a few years shy of making it to Master Spy status, (needs at least one more level). The multiple layers of bureaucracy and the failure of “The Rose” to make many public appearances, not only increases her mystery but helps him keep up his illusion. Under his aunt’s tutelage he learned a bit about poison which also helps when trying to insure secrets are kept.
While she may sell information to agents he suspects may be from the Council of Thieves, he is very careful to keep a low profile and not attract too much attention from them. Like most establishments protection monies and bribes are part of the business. He always pays them on time. It is a very stressful line (he/she) must tread.
I don't know how to make this for DM eyes only. I can stat this one out if you would like.
I'll work on the description of the establishment "House of Thorns" next and follow up with the other NPC.
I'm Jo
GM - I will work out my location and NPC tomorrow. I have my table game tonight.
Synopsis
Location - The Pits. The location of illegal (but strangly allowed) fighting of all sorts on the fringes of the Northern Quarter. A despicible place where any and all combatents are made to face each other in combat.
NPC1 - the Face of the Pits who many think is the owner. He is the person who runs the show and manages the events and grounds.
NPC2 - the real secret owner of the Pits. The person behind the scenes who finances and reaps the rewards of the heinous place.
Unfortunately I do not have a map of the city so cannot place the location exactly. I will leave that to you.
Faelar Braegen
I think I will stick with the tavern owner and Barmaid, but may also know of one of the hiding places due to performing out on the street. Things will sometimes go wrong and you always need somewhere to hide.
I have thought about the names of the Owner and Barmaid, how do you like?
Owner - Aeron Damarthe
Barmaid - Qilue Aubier

Ok, Here's my ideas.
I can definitely see Ari having an interest in the apothecary. Poison may not deter devils, but seems effective enough on nobles and other mortals.
I thought, I'd lay out one of Ari's contacts as well as we seem to have a couple small folk and fugitives.
Tansy “Mother” Muddlum (Halfling Drd 4) is the matriarch of a clan of escaped halfling slaves that live in the marshlands in and around Westcrown. Constantly moving through the sewers and safe houses, she provides an underground railroad for fugitives to get out of the city and find their way east to Andoran. She manages to elude both Hellknights and the Dottari by using her ability to cover tracks and disguise herself as a small animal. She also offers healing and comfort to lost souls, beggars, and others in need of succor.

@Moondark: Some shadow beasts can fly, most are terrestrial. Inside is best. Near a bright fire is second best. Only a few Westcrown streets are lit. Like the NPC too. She probably has a way to get people across the river too.
@Antal: Yes, your NPCs are great. That's about the length I'm looking for if anyone is looking for examples.
@Mina: No need to stat the NPCs. What you provided is plenty. To spoiler for GM, you just include spoiler=GM only within the brackets. It won't keep anyone that wants to open it from doing so, but will let people know when info is intended for GM only.
@I'm Jo: Have fun with you table game. Hoping to get a chance to play some Serpent's Skull with my boys tomorrow. I'll put a city map with locations on my to-do list, but may not show up right away.
@Faelar Braegen: Names are fine.
@Caravas Simjen/Arknight: Well, maybe he has some gnome blood somewhere :)
@hallowsinder: Canter is fine. I like the fluff more than the crunch on that Milani trait.

@Carethin/Mina: Easiest for me is if you go to "File" menu in Hero Lab, then choose "Output Active Hero Statblock" then pick the "BB Code Tab" on the dialog box, then hit the "Copy" button in the lower left and then paste that into your profile. Results in a nicely formatted profile with all the key info.

House of Thorns
Throughout the city of Westcrown prostitution can be found. The men and women engaged in the trade vary from those sold into slavery to those just trying to make a living. At the top of this profession, the true courtesans, come from the House of Thorns. The proprietor, The Rose, teaches men, women, boys and girls the ways of the court and the ways to please the benefactors. The charming personality and grace of those from the House of Thorns are almost a status symbol for the nobles of Westcrown. Many of the courtesans are learned in music and dance and all are skilled in performance. Their comfort around the nobility makes one believe the rumors that many of these women come from noble houses that have lost favor and power in Westcrown. They are prostitutes in the sense that sex is one of their obligations, but unlike the average prostitute, sex constitutes only a facet of the courtesan's array of services. For example, they are expected to be well-dressed and ready to engage in a variety of topics ranging from art to music to politics. Many of them live with or near their benefactor and if the courtesan had satisfactorily served them, that benefactor will, when ending the affair, pass them on to another benefactor of wealth as a favor to the courtesan, or set them up in an arranged marriage to a semi-wealthy benefactor. To continue with any of the courtesans, the benefactor makes arrangements with and paid monthly to the Hose of Thorns. These payments are known as flower money.
Off of one of the main streets in Rego Pena, but near the center of commerce, the House of Thorns sits beckoning passersby to come into its foyer. The two story building has the look and feel of an old noble’s manor and may have in fact belonged to one before the fall. The building is made of fine cut stone and decorated with vines covered in thorns thus giving the building its name. The up keep is slightly better than that of the surrounding buildings but there is no mistaking that it is a shadow of its former splendor. The outside walls are showing signs of wear and the once sand colored stones are dingy with soot that is practically impossible to clean. The steps leading up to the main double doors are well worn and polished from the soles of male boots that parade up and down the stairs daily.
Upon entrance through the double doors, the house resembled less of noble’s house and much more like a large dance hall or performance house, music can be heard hear almost all times of the day and night. Directly to the left with windows facing the street are the administrative offices. It is through here that arrangements for the courtesans are made. The much of the ground floor is taken up by a large dance floor, made from highly polished ancient wood; musicians located on a platform play while the latest dances are learned. A well-stocked and maintained kitchen is located in the back where the students are taught culinary arts. Near the kitchen behind the dance floor is located a dining area, fully outfitted with fine china and glassware where the intricacies of fine dining are detailed. Along the right wall as you enter is a stairway leading up to the eight “guest rooms” located at the House of Thorns several of which are permanent residences for new personnel. While most stay close to their benefactors, those who had yet to be contracted or were between contracts are welcome to stay here. The rooms are clean, airy, and have the sweet smell of flowers. Beds are down filled with clean linens, everything having a feel of luxury.
Located in the basement were areas where special client needs could be met. Many favoring the House of Thrune and those forces associated with them, keep this an avenue of profit for the House of Thorns
.
All members of the House of Thorns were expected to report in at least weekly for status and training. Benefactors were expected to treat their charges well; those who did not would deny their family house the ability to contract with the House. Courtesans who did not live up to expectations or caused problems with their clients would find themselves common street walkers again, at best.

Thanks for the hint on posting the stats. I have updated Mina and Carethin. The House of Thorns is complete as well. I will now do last NPC.
Gregord JeFeld
4th level Sorcerer (Abyssal)
Greford JeFeld can trace, at least on the human side, his heritage to the House of Rosala. His sorcerer abilities however clearly come from some sort of demonic seed in the families past. Given the history of Westcrown and the current direction of Cheliax, this is not so surprising; however he finds it very troubling. He constantly struggles with the chaotic and evil urges. These strong tendencies have caused him to study this field of sorcery in order to bring some order, control and understanding. He does not align with the vision of the House of Thrune and hopes that his understanding of sorcery will give him tools to fight the Asmodian influences. A distant relation from a noble house of limited influence, Gregord is trying to find a way to gain access to higher echelons. He lives not far from some of the other dubious houses in the Rego Pena district. He is currently trying to raise some money to hire a courtesan from the House of Thorns to help him make end roads in the noble social functions.
Please let me know if you have any tweaking you would like to see.
Franco Nymmis
House Nymmis was thrown into upheaval on the day of Franco's birth. The birth was too much for his young mother Olivia, only 20 years old at the time. Olivia died as the result of severe hemorrhaging shortly after delivering a crying babe with a mouth full of teeth. Franco's father Philippe, outraged by the death of his young wife and the embarrassment of a fiend blooded heir of Nymmis, planned to take out his vengeance on the infantile Franco. Phillipe's older brother Max pitied the babe and hatched a plan to save the young life. Max volunteered to take care of the families little problem. Phillipe, besieged by grief, gladly accepted his brother's offer. Max, having lived a life as a criminal for a time, called in some favors and found an adoptive home for the child...
I got this far into Franco's background and remembered Antal's NPC Meddyg Niorlo. I'm certainly not trying to steal from ideas but i think it would be interesting if Niorlo was Franco's adoptive father. I had originally planned on making an NPC alchemist/merchant from the Duskmarket but I think it's in interesting way to tie backgrounds together. I think it will be interesting to play up the fact that Franco feels slightly neglected by his adoptive father, and he thinks that his father views Antal as more of a son than Franco. Franco isn't vengeful and I plan on playing him as neutral good, so he wouldn't be planning to murder anyone or anything like that( although many who see him as a tiefling first might suspect otherwise) but it might add some drama.
Just some ideas, I'd appreciate feedback from Antal, GM, or anyone else! Thanks
Antal Syiel
I'm fine with that, sounds like some fun drama to play a bit into, however I feel it might be more like Antal would be an uncle (considering the difference in our ages, and that Antal sees Meddyg more as a mentor and not as a father.) Antal would have been around 30 when he got training from Meddyg. But I think tying the stories together sounds fun.

That sounds fine to me, Antal might even be something of a mentor to Franco, seeing as we both also have the Conspiracy Hunter campaign trait, perhaps Antal introduced Franco to such conspiracies.

Coran was born in Westcrown as a slave as was his family before him and theirs before him. They have been house slaves to one of the houses beholden to The Dioso Family. He grew up in the coin sector but that is not where he stayed once he was old enough to sneak out of the house and wander the city. For the most part he worked for this house, when he wasn't trying to hide from the overseer, so he could go exploring.
Coran was always sure to be back before nightfall for he knew if he was out late the shadow beasts would get him. His parents and the other house slaves hated covering for him they if he was caught there would be consequences for all. Their worry was for not before he was caught the family they worked for mysteriously disappeared none of the city guards knew what had happened and The Dioso House took this opportunity to claim all of the minor house had for themselves including the slaves. This was not what was meant for Coran he took this chance to get his freedom.
Coran used his knowledge of Westcrown to hide and earn some money as a guide learning the city and making the whole city his home. One night he decided to stay out beyond the curfew and see the shadow beasts this was not something he was looking forward to but if this city was going to be his home, he must. This proved to be a good and bad thing. Coran used his small size to hide in the shadows so he could observe the happening of the night. The creatures he saw drove chills down his spine. Then came the moment that changed Coran’s path from just city explorer to needed hunter. A group of 3 drunks had wandered from a local bar without Halorans this proved to be a huge mistake the Shadow beast tore the 3 men apart leaving nothing but stain on the streets. Coran decided that he needed to do something he grab a board and charged. As he charged he felt his body being pulled back and a hand on his shoulder.
“Come on Boy, let’s get you somewhere safe.” when Coran turned around to see a bald dwarf with a braided beard “Let’s get you to my Adel, you can stay there til morning.” the dwarf led him to his small barge which seemed to be loaded with wares from all over Westcrown and a sign on the outside “The Floating Chest”. The dwarf’s name was Gauner he used his Adel to travel all around Westcrown selling his wares. Gauner sold Corvan his first suit of armor and sword and also help him figure out how to use it. As for Coran surviving in the city it was now up to him.
--------------------
AppearanceCoran Blonde haired which is kept wild and shoulder length. His eyes are sea green both look good with his dusky complexion. He wears dark colors mostly blues and greys but always try to look nice, coming from his background he noted how easy it is to take someone seriously when they look respectable rather then a slob.
--------------------
----------------------
Person & Place 1: The Floating Chest: this is a small floating barge that is run by a dwarven merchant who carries all the basic items that one might need, but also fulfills another purpose the owner Gauner is a Cleric of Abadar and uses the barge to conduct services in secret.
Person 2: Lenkin is a human who well does some dirty jobs around the city of Westcrown, nothing like murder or anything illegal. He takes care of the vermin on the streets making sure that people can walk around during the day without getting accosted by a rat or something else that might wander up from the sewers. Lenkin has been called crazy and probably is but never call him that to his face.
----------------------
I still have to work on a second place and flesh out his personality. I hope this is a good start.
Faelar Braegen
NPS'c
Aeron Damarthe - Aeron is a 46 year old male Halfling and the owner of the "Celestial Harp" tavern. Business was going bad for Aeron, as no-one had any special reason to go to his tavern, apart from food and drink. There were better, more attractive taverns around that caught the peoples attention. One day Aeron was out for a walk and noticed a large group of people gathered in one spot, so he went to investigate. In the middle of the group, he saw a slender Elf dance and singing. Everyone seemed to enjoy his performance, Aeron even noticed that there was a small bag of food behind him (from the look of the bag it was nearly empty), so after the performance he went to the Elf and introduced himself and learned that he was talking to someone called Faelar Braegen. Aeron offered Faelar a free roof and food, if he would perform in his tavern. However it would only be free if his performances bring in a lot of customers. Faelar agreed and gave the owner the rest of his money to cover the "Rent" prices. A couple of days after the performances started in the "Celestial Harp" Aeron's business seemed to go through the roof, so he even decided to start paying Faelar for his talents. It has been 15 months since then and everything is still going well for Aeron, he has even managed to redecorate his once crumbly tavern, into a building of hope and beauty; just as the name of the tavern was supposed to imply.
Qilue Aubier - Qilue is a 22 year female Half-Elf who was offered a job in the "celestial Harp" once business had started to grow again. At first she got annoyed with all the singing, dancing and acting that the Elf "Faelar" done everyday, but after a while she started to loosen up and enjoy them (the same as everyone else). She was quite suprised that Faelar didn't pity her or think of her as only half a person, he said one day that she cannot help what races her parents were, they fell in love and that was the only thing that mattered. After that she started to trust him a bit more each day, until it felt like they were brother and sister. She was a beautiful young woman and the customers hadn't failed to notice that, so once in a while there was a "scuffle" as one of them would try to grab her (or worse), but things were always sorted out quickly. Faelar would stop his performances and tell them to stop it and leave, if they did they were free to come back once they had calmed down, if not he asked if anyone would be kind enough to show the "subject" out of the tavern. There was always someone who offered there help and they usually got a free drink from Qilue for their assistance.
Caravas Simjen
I've updated Caravas' profile with his background and Statblock. There still some statblock details to work out (equipment mostly) and I need to flesh out his Personality and Appearance as well.
I'm hoping to get most of that done during the day today, but I won't be able to update the equipment until I get back home tonight after work.
I'm also more than willing to tie him into any other character's background if anyone can think of a way. :)
I'm Jo
Here is my location and my 2 NPCs.
Location
The Pits
Ophira’s Opulent Bathhouse was, centuries ago, one of the most beautiful buildings in the Rego Plea. A huge structure with no less than four 1000 square foot hot baths contained within. The Bathhouse also had steam rooms and relaxation solariums for its many visitors. Exquisite vaulted ceilings held up by red veined marble columns rose above statuary of the Golarion Pantheon. Scores of sculptured heroes of ages gone by watched as the cities rich and influential networked, finalized contracts and made secret deals. Many important government decisions were decided in Ophira’s Baths. It was favorite destination for both the affluent and government officials.
The Bathhouse stands today, but is now a decrepit place of heinous activity. When the Rego Plea fell into darkness the Bathhouse went out of business. But someone had an idea that it would be the perfect place of illegal games; contests of combat between men. At first the combat was between willing combatants, men looking for a fight to prove their prowess. But the games degenerated into combat between all types of races and beasts; some of them unwilling or forced to fight.
The four huge baths have been turned into gladiatorial pits where on any given night spectators can view a variety of fights. One of the favorites of the crowds is the child fights. Pitting pre-adolescents against each other seems to be the biggest draw. But other fights are popular also – bird, cat, dog and beast fights are all common place.
The big draw to the fights is the gambling aspect of the Pits. The “house” runs betting games of all sorts. Some of the smaller rooms in the building house strictly gaming parlors away from the fights.
The business is extremely lucrative for the owner operator a man named Ragan Tolnaro
NPCs
Ragan Tolnaro – Ragan was not gifted with great physical prowess. He was neither strong nor tall. His father was though, and expected Ragan to follow his footsteps into the Dottari. Ragan truly tried to follow but was a abject failure. He was relegated to menial tasks and cleanup duties. His Father became very disappointed in him and eventually stopped speaking to him. Ragan soon slipped from the righteous path to the darker aspects of law enforcement. He made many contacts with the criminal element and began taking payoffs to “look the other way”. One of the events Ragan began to protect was an illegal fight ring that moved from location to location around the city. The fight ring was broken up several times by the Dottari only to resurface months later. Ragan made it his job to protect it. Working with low level government officials at first, Ragan made hand shake deals and payoffs to get the fights in certain areas where they would not be noticed. He then made a new powerful friend in the high circles of the government. With backing, Ragan acquired the abandoned Ophira’s Bathhouse near the Parego Dospera. With his powerful friend as a silent partner, Ragan hired workers to clean up and repair the long abandoned building. He quit the Dottari and became the face of the Pits; its owner-operator. He made it what it is today; Westcrown’s largest illegal fighting and gambling house. Ragan’s secret friend and partner ensured that his operation continues to run smooth and under the radar of the authorities.
Alaynea [fill in the blank]– Alaynea is daughter of one of the most prestigious houses in Westcrown. Born into affluence has permitted her to do what she wants when she wants. She is driven and passionate in all aspects of life. She used her family’s money and influence to start several businesses throughout the Parego Spera. She does not front the businesses though as she prefers to stay behind the scenes and manage as owner. She became known for her ruthless business tactics and risk taking ventures. Through her businesses she became respected in her own right and made many powerful friends in the City. Alaynea has a secret dark side though. She likes violence. Her idea of a good time is watching two men beat each other to bloody pulps. This obsession led her from hiring men to fight each other to seeking out illegal fight rings in the city. She would even go as far as to finance a fight ring to sate her appetite. One day she was approached by a small ugly man. He introduced himself as Ragan and he had an idea. With Ragan’s help she would be able to satisfy her cravings whenever she wanted and make money doing it. She helped Ragan purchase and renovate the bathhouse that would become The Pits. Using her influence and contacts within the government and the Dottari, Alaynea has managed to keep The Pits running every night. Not only does it fill her vault with gold, it fulfills her secret desire for violence.
GM - I do not have a last name for Alaynea as I am not familiar with the details of the various Houses in Westcrown. So I leave it up to you to add the House and last name.
Ithad Thrune
This is Rannald, profile hopefully complete and my additions to the world, which even if I'm not choosen I hope are useful in fleshing out Westcrown.
The Tilted Keel
On the edge of the Miratanza, is a keelboat, stuck on a rock permanently on it's side, with two barges moored to it. The keelboat acts a kitchen and storage; while the two barges are divided between an outdoor eatery and booths to sell goods. This upscale eating establishment caters to many of the servants of the largest noble houses. It serves dishes manly of barnacles, spider crabs, and snails – all freshly caught and considered a pricy delicacy. The Tilted Keel also sells spices and dyes (ground from shells). Halfling slaves makeup the waitstaff, but the head chef is a highly prized cook from Absolom. The rest of the booths are rented out to noncompeting businesses. Of course with the Tilted Keel being a popular spot among the staffs of the nobility, it is a clearing house of gossip .
The Warehouse
Within the Rego Laina, there are several abandoned armories and smithies. Most of these buildings are in poor shape, but one particular armory was build to stand the test of time. A granite brick building with tarnished bronze shingles, this multilevel build had been used as a warehouse during the civil war. Since that time it has been abandoned by its owners who either have forgotten its existence, have long since died, or no longer care. Emptied of any valuables long ago, it has become a playground for traceurs, daredevils, and rebellious youth. At night, it sometimes is used as a safe haven from the shadows. There is usually several pints of oils and a lamp, or a dozen torches, or even an occasional sunrod stashed somewhere in the Warehouse. The given consensus being what ever you take you replace with something else.
Also mentioned Vira Coniecto Donum is my background
A small estate originally used by a minor noble family on Rego Corna isle of Impriax. It was seized by the Drovenge during the Ascension of Thrune, and was sold with several pieces of property to the royal family during the reign of Infrexus. A short few years later, Infrexus exiled Tatius, Sabine, and the child Ithad Thrune to Westcrown. Named as Hell's Gift, it has been the prison of the Westcrown Thrunes. The estate is beginning to show the stress of neglect, as they have not the money to keep the place up and there are no more slaves here. The mansion is striking neo-Azlant style and wouldn't be considered the typical Chelish taste.
Alexius Marsh – Con Man (Noble Scion – APG pg 288)
Born the bastard son of an unknown father and a poor serving girl mother, Alexius Marsh grew up in abject poverty. Motivated by a desire for the finer things in life, he trades on his handsome good to gain the lifestyle he wants. Originally, just arm candy for rich widows, Alexius developed a conniving steak that soon had him bilking his paramours for all he could. When the money stopped, he moved on. After two decades of his lifestyle, he is comfortable established with the occasional blackmail to supplement his different investments. He still has expensive tastes, but more often than not he has a young (paid) beauty on his arm. Some think he may run an some type of escort service on the side, but nothing has been proven.
Maius Maxius – Pathfinder Agent (Archaeologist – APG pg 297)
Maius Maxius is a born native of Absolom, but of Chelaxian descent. His parents had belonged to the Pathfinder Society and he followed in their footsteps. So when the Society needed someone to opperate within Chelaxian territory, the quick thinking Maius was an obvious choice. This rough looking individual, with his leathery skin and scruffy stubble, can be gruff and cranky but he hides a good heart and a friendly smile. He is currently working on genealogy of the noble houses, and can be found throughout Parego Regicona. Of course some believe Maius has other motives and geneology being just a ruse.

@Mina: Everything looks great. I don't see any obvious tweaks right now.
@Antal & Franco: Like the links you guys are building, have at it.
@Coran: Your start is great.
@Moondark: Excellent background, locations and NPCs. We have a couple of boats.
@Faelar: Nice NPCs, everything looks good.
@Caravas: Equipment is lower priority than the rest, so no problem if you have to take a little longer filling that in.
@I'm Jo: Alaynea Lorialn it is. Tell me about Jo's feelings about Ragan. Ambivalent, hatred or do they have a good relationship (and sorry if I missed it).
@Ithad/Rannald: Very nice additions. Thank you. Maius will have to be a bit sneaky too, the Pathfinders are definitely still not welcome in Westcrown.
Caravas Simjen
Appearance: Caravas dresses fairly typically for one who depends on mobility in what they do. Leather armor with dark metal bits, soft leather boots, his dueling sword and a chakram at his side make Caravas appear ready for about anything. Which is a good thing, because with everything going on in Westcrown.
Personality: Caravas puts on a good face when it come to seeming happy from day to day. A jovial fellow, when he can he buys drinks for complete strangers or might stop and help a merchant pick op an overturned wagon and do it all with a smile. He gets a serious face on when having to fight in any manner. That's the time he feels he can focus and ignore all the untold things he's seen on the streets. He rarely shares any deep feelings, feeling it's his burden to bear, but in his dalliances with one of the hostesses at the temple, he's let down his guard a bit and she's helped him keep his sanity.
Role: Caravas is the in and out striker type, moving place to place and hitting for a bit here and there.

Adding last location
Glitter and Gold
Money Exchanger
Nestled in a small corner of Rego Pena is a small, one story, and stone building. A gem-encrusted ring surrounded with coins from the various regions is pictured on a well-worn wooden sign outside of the establishment. The windows are barred with heavy iron shutters, and the doors are made of heavy wood, reinforced with iron bands. In this bustling trading city there are several money exchanges that make a living from the travelers passing through exchanging coin or turning gems into useable currency. While not advertised, it is known that this shop also will accept other trinkets and not ask many questions on their origin. Members of once noble houses now fallen with little influence can be seen coming here as well as some of the more shady characters, both bringing in “family” items. There is rumored that the Council of Thieves influence many of these establishments; how much they are involved with the Glitter and Gold is not known.

@Faelar: None already in Rego Cader so go for it. I did write up one for Rego Aerum:
Overlooking Karhal Park is a small restaurant catering to opera goers in Rego Aerum. Known for its fine wines, and exotic meals, The Lay of Roses is also home to a small shrine to Shelyn that caters to the wealthy of Westcrown. The restaurant is built of fine teak imported from Tian Xia that has been carved into sweeping arches and branches that are covered in white roses and create secluded grottoes for the noble guests. Within the restaurant, beautiful songbirds flit from branch to branch, serenading diners with their melodies.
@Mina: Very nice, thanks!
