Ragnar Foehammer |
Ragnar grunts and groans as he is pummeled about.
HP 16/27
Ragnar channels to command the nearest (red) creature! Will Save DC 13!
Next Round:
Ragnar casts disrupt undead at the closest uncommanded creature! Disrupt: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15 for 1d6 ⇒ 5 damage! He then dances further into the room.
Dunkel Diggerson |
Dunkel takes a step forward, channeling some of his arcane energy into his axe as he does so.
5ft step, swift to arcane strike and swing! Will try to finish off blue first.

Wyatt McDonald |
Frowning, Wyatt steps back, and directs a brace of arrows into green (since that is the one I have an unobstructed lines of sight to)!
+1 Mighty[+2]Composite Longbow: 1d20 + 5 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 5 + 1 + 1 = 19, for 1d8 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 1 = 8 damage.

Imrana Reza |
Imrana peaks around the corner and fires a ray of cool pale light at the ectoplasmic creature against the wall. Red
If she fires from the bottom right corner of her square, she should have an unobstructed shot
Disrupt Undead (bless, point blank shot): 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 1 + 1 = 8

Ragnar's command falls on deaf ears, but his positive energy strikes true.
Dunkel's axe slashes its target to ribbons, causing it to congeal into a puddle of goo, which rolls towards the center of the room.
Imrana's disruption also strikes, but just barely, while Wyatt continues to launch arrows into the creatures.
Red: 8 Green: 8
Doubtful and Jair are up.
Doubtful |
Doubtful finally shakes out of his lethargy, with a angrily muttered: "I don't wanna dance!"
He steps forward drawing a sickle-like weapon from his belt as he does so. Taking the kama in both hands, he takes a mighty slash at one of the creatures in protest.
5' step. Move action to draw his cold iron kama. Then a single attack (wielding it two-handed) on the red critter.
Melee Attack on red, bless: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 7 + 1 = 19, for 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10 slashing damage.
GM Lari |
G: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Doubtful cuts his target down, rivulets of ectoplasm oozing towards a growing pile in the center.
The remaining dancer seems too fixated on the music to obey Jair. It flails at Doubtful, but moving to the music proves to be ineffective as a combat technique.
Green Doubtful: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Jaohd grabs the longsword off the wall and gracefully dances towards the remaining enemy.
The party is up again.
Wyatt McDonald |
Gritting his teeth, Wyatt keeps firing arrows into green.
+1 Mighty[+2]Composite Longbow: 1d20 + 5 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 5 + 1 + 1 = 25, for 1d8 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 1 = 8 damage.

Imrana Reza |
"They are falling quickly. Not threatening."
Disrupt Undead (point blank shot, bless): 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 4 + 1 + 1 = 22
Damage (point blank shot): 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
After firing off the ray of positive energy, she closes her eyes and smiles at the last ectoplasmic creature.
"Goodbye. You can go dance all you like in the Boneyard."
Doubtful |
Reverting back to a one handed grip, Doubtful moves to flank with Dunkel, and continues to slash at the ectoplasmic creature.
Pretty sure it will be gone before I go, but...
5' step, then Flurry of Blows, using the kama.
Flurry1: 1d20 + 7 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 7 + 1 + 2 = 27, for 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 slashing damage.
Flurry2: 1d20 + 7 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 7 + 1 + 2 = 16, for 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 slashing damage.
GM Lari |
The continued attacks bring down the last ghostly dancer.
Jaohd and Ragnar, on the other hand, continue to dance for almost another minute before falling to the ground as the music screeches to a halt and their partners disappear mid-dip, leaving them drained both mentally and physically.
Ragnar is fatigued and takes 1d4 ⇒ 3 points of Wisdom damage, as is Jaohd, who takes 1d4 ⇒ 3 Wisdom damage.
The remnants of the dancers have coalesced into a glowing orb of green fluid.
Knowledge Arcana to ID
Doubtful |
Doubtful looks at the leftover fluid with suspicion stay well away from it.
"Probably gonna reform and we'll have to fight 'em all over again." He offers.
He glances around with a slightly worried look. "We should get out of here before the music starts up again for another spin."
"I don't dance." He adds.
The sword that Jaohd grabbed, does that look like the one described as his?
Jair Whisper |
Know. Arcana: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Sorry, can't do anything today against wisdom damages Says Jair.
She turns to Doubtful and says May be, may be not, but sooner we get our hand on the Orb and get out of here, better I will be.
Ragnar Foehammer |
"Great shades of light! That was more dancin' than I did at me own weddin'! I think I oughta have a sit down for a few moments..." Ragnar holds his head and nods at Jair. "I'll live, miss, I'll live."
Dunkel Diggerson |
Dunkel tries to wipe the ectoplasm from his axe as he gives a thankful nod to Ragnar and Jaohd - thankful he didn't have to dance that jig for several minutes.
Seeing that Wyatt is studying the orb, he takes a breather.
GM Lari |
Wyatt recognizes that this ectoplasm could be of substantial value in creating tools to fight incorporeal creatures. Doing so would require facilities and tools unavailable in your particular situation.
If Wyatt requests, Jaohd will hold the sword out for examination, still retaining hold on it. The words Ether's Kiss are engraved on the hilt, and the blade does seem to be magical.
Through the other door leads back into the maze. For everyone's benefit, I believe these are your options for navigation. Dungeoneering has fewer opportunities for assists but higher bonuses. If someone wants to roll either (just add the first brackets back in), that's good with me.

Opening the door, Wyatt stares morosely at the maze.
"Great. I think I am sensing a theme, here..."
Nevertheless, he does his best to help Ragnar navigate the maze.

Imrana Reza |
Imrana pulls out her book and points to an entry on the page labeled "Jaohd," then adds another entry adding Wyatt's suspicions to the record.
"I have made a note of this piece of information. We are already aware that Jaohd is not in his right mind, even forgetting how to speak normally. We shall observe him. Certainly, our resident pessimist will keep us apprised of further developments."
@Doubtful This scenario is weird. It's making the two of us agree on things
Jair Whisper |
This place do weird things, like trying to make Doubtful dance. I'm not that suspicious about a Paladin speaking the language of heaven.
But She turns to Jaohd and continue If you want your weapon back tell us something only a Pathfinder could know.
Who is the Master of Scroll, Who is the Master of Spells, Who is the Master of Swords ?
She looks at Jaohd waiting of his answers.
Ragnar Foehammer |
"Harumph. I'm not at all sure this place is a proper spot for exploration. But far be it for me to question the will of the Society. Still... Look a shiny thing!" Ragnar's train of though seems to derail when he spots the sword. He glances at it, nodding appreciatively.
GM Lari |
For the sake of convenience I'm going to say this happens before you head off into the maze again.
Jaohd's responds to Jair's request. "The names are so hard to remember. But I know their faces..."
He proceeds to give a series of descriptions, though Jair and Doubtful along with anyone else whogets a DC 13 sense motive get the sense he's trying to be deliberately vague, as if guessing (describing the Master of Swords as "tall" and "no-nonsense" rather than talking about hair/eye color, etc).
J: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24
Do: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Doubtful |
Well, that's not a good sign...
Doubtful looks increasingly concerned, as Jaohd attempts to describe the various Society heads. His mind imagining all sorts of increasingly unpleasant scenarios that might explain the paladin's behavior.
"We sure that's Jaohd?" He mutters finally.
/ConspiracyHatOn
It occurs to me that: Another reason he might only speak Celestial... is maybe there was no 'Taldane' (aka Common) language back when he last had access to the world!
These tunnels and such, that the pirate guy built his crypt in, were here from back during the Cyclops times, pre-human!
So maybe this is not Jaohd, but some entity from back before the Azlanti empire itself... that would explain it not knowing our language. Anyone know Cyclops? =)
Perhaps the other group freed something, that's now mimicing Jaohd to lure in more bait! (ie: us!) That'd be an awesome (though terrifying) plot twist anyway!
/ConspiracyHatOff
Dunkel Diggerson |
Ooh, I like the conspiracy!
Sense Motice: 1d20 ⇒ 19
Dunkel pauses, wondering if Doubtful is just being Doubtful, or his concern that Jaohd is not really Jaohd may actually be the worried dwarf onto something for a change.
Well, if it's speaking Celestial instead of Abyssal or something more nefarious, that's not the worst thing. Any sort of Heal or Knowledge check possible to confirm/deny Doubtful's suspicions? If Dunkel could speak Celestial, he'd potentially try to see if he could trip Jaohd up. I imagine he could pull Wyatt aside and quietly propose inventing something incorrect about Kreighton Shane and see if "Jaohd" says "oh yeah, that" to fall into said trap.
Doubtful |
Well, if it's speaking Celestial instead of Abyssal or something more nefarious, that's not the worst thing.
/HatBackOn
And that's how they get you!"Oh, its speaking the language of angels, it can't be that bad... right?"
There's a reason *all* demons can speak Celestial.... =)

Imrana Reza |
Sense Motive: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (7) - 1 = 6
Imrana hears Jaohd give his very general description of the three masters, but she doesn't really make anything of it, assuming it's just another sign of mental effects of the place rather than deceptive intent.
She does notice that her companions appear to be caught up with something. She steps back to observe them and take notes on their interaction with Jaohd.
Imrana isn't really a suspicious person by nature and generally optimistic, so she really wouldn't worry much about him outside of intellectual curiosity.
Jair Whisper |
So you don't remember the name of the 3 masters, I hope I least you remember that big lie that all true members of Pathfinder will know is false ?
Bluff (take 10): 10 + 11 = 21
May be for once, doubtful is right in his suspicions as well as Wyatt
Ragnar Foehammer |
Aram Zey is notoriously fond of pranks and capers? Drendle Dreng is known for his punctuality and responsible attitude toward Pathfinders? Zarta Dralneen is a paragon of virtue and chaste as the day is long?
Ragnar studies the man as the others test him. Sense motive: 1d20 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 - 1 = 16 "Ye seem a bit hazy on things, my lad. I believe there's more to ye than ye're lettin' on."
GM Lari |
Jaohd stutters in Celestial for a moment, before switching to foul curses in Aklo, brandishing his sword.
Doubtful: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Dunkel: 1d20 ⇒ 20
Imrana: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 Acts in surprise round!
Jair: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Ragnar: 1d20 ⇒ 6
Wyatt: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Jaohd: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Pretty much everyone got the sense that something was up, except Imrana. Since she can act in the surprise round anyway, we're just going to go into regular rounds.
Doubtful |
Does 'Jaohd' still look fatigued from the dancing? Or did he miraculously get 'better'? (was probably faking!)
Dunkel goes first in init, so will let his turn happen first... in hopes he stays in melee and 5' steps to the south for flanking...
Will go whether he does so or not at that point.
Doubtful merely glowers as his warnings prove accurate and Jaohd shows his intentions.
Pausing a moment, for Dunkel to react, he leaps into the fray, feet and fists flying.
"What'd you do with Jaohd and the others!" He yells angrily, ignoring the fact that the faux-paladin probably can't understand him.
5' step one square south, then flurry of blows (possibly with flanking). Using Stunning Fist on the first attack.
Spending a Ki point for an extra attack.
Will use non-lethal, just in case.
Flurry1: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28, for 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7 non-lethal damage plus stun (DC 16 fortitude negates)
Flurry2: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25, for 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8 non-lethal damage.
FlurryKi: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12, for 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 non-lethal damage.
edit: Confirmation: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15, for an additional 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10 damage.
(+2 on all the attack rolls if Dunkel stays in melee and he gets flanking)
edit2: Hmm... well, the first 2 look good, the 3rd and the confirm, not so much... unless the stun lands and he becomes flat-footed!
Imrana Reza |
Imrana jumps back with a gasp at Jaohd's sudden attack. She recovers and looks on with an intrigued eye at the now-hostile Jaohd(?).
"Aha! Interesting. Thank you for volunteering to clear up this whole discussion into your intentions, Faux-Jaohd. Or Mad-Jaohd. Whichever."
Realizing she probably won't have another chance to use the spell today, she fires off her prepared ray of enfeeblement, a sickly green energy shooting from her hand towards Jaohd(?).
Ray of Enfeeblement (point blank shot): 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 4 + 1 = 14
She has precise shot, so no penalties
Strength Penalty (DC 17 fort to halve): 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Jair Whisper |
Try to use non lethal action ! Says Jaïr
She calls for Norgorber to protect her move action : copycat and uses her wand of bless she still had in hand to help her comrade.
May the blessing of the Gray Master help you find Jahod secret.
Bless : +1 moral bonus to attack and to will save against fear effects.
Dunkel Diggerson |
Dunkel takes a shot to the chin, taking a step backward before he circles about and gives a nod to Doubtful.
"Ye were right! C'mon Jaohd! Fight off th' possession or whatever's got hold o' ye!"
After hesitating a moment (ready for Doubtful), Dunkel swings, turning his blade so the flat part meets Jaohd's chin at the last moment.
