Holan-Ji realizes that he needs to fall back and fast. In the blink of an eye he releases his grip on Blue and slips into a rage to bolster himself, withdrawing away from the aasimar sounding like the world's biggest and angriest wasp the entire time. Blue gets in a parting jab with his own longspear, tearing through a wing and leaving the shifter yet again on the verge of collapse. 12 damage; Holan-Ji is back down to 0 HP.
Maria and now Hepsubia as well continue to rain down arrows on the aasimar fighters; Maria's arrow leaves another large welt on Green while Hepsubia nicks Blue and leaves him with a small, bleeding wound.
Unless you wanted that to be NL damage Hep; even with the penalty you'd still hit him.
A warning cry from Tai Dan is heard as overhead, several of the winged aasimars swoop in low over the battlefield and begin bombarding your forces with burning branches! They focus their efforts on catching as many individuals together as possible but also seem willing to focus-fire on any single target that appears to be a significant threat!
Winged deserters bombard the area with burning branches. Each such bombardment fills a 10-foot square area. The deserters attempt to catch as many PCs with each bombardment as possible. If the bombardiers can only catch one PC, they try to drop the burning branches on the PC that appears to pose the biggest threat. Treat any PC caught in such a bombardment as if they entered a square containing the blight fire.
Any PC may spend an aid token to order their troops to intercept and thereby end the bombardment. PCs may also ready their own attacks against the bombardiers (treat them as honor guards at an elevation of 40 feet). Damaging a bombardier negates the effect for that round.
Let me know if you guys want to spend an Aid Token to prevent the bombardment for this round, then we'll proceed into Round 3 accordingly.

Realizing the precarious position that Holan-Ji is in (and not wanting to have blight fire dropped on your own heads either), several of you quickly signal Tai Dan. The leader of the Twenty Four Masks barks an order and several of your tengu allies raise their bows and fire upon the aasimar overhead, dropping several of them and putting an end to the bombardment...for now.

Zithembe continues to advance before stopping and adopting a defensive stance in front of Effie. He invokes the spirits that live within every weapon, bolstering your attacks.

Even enraged, Holan-Ji is well aware of the dire situation he's in. And that he's gotta get out of the fight. Now.
He feels bad that he's leaving everyone to these three, and that he really screwed this fight up. Jobu had to save him, Zith was right (as always), and Hep's caring words make him feel really really bad. But maybe he can still help.
Seeing the fliers above, he decides that maybe he should go help deal with them. Assuming he can get away.
Withdraw. Again. Straight away from the two. At least Riko won't get an AO. If he survives, he'll attack the fliers next round.

Hoping to give Holan-Ji (and really, all of them) some breathing room, Effie utilizes Hepsubia's song to extend the range on her firearm. The rest in the air scatter, their attempts at bombardment temporarily forgotten.
Nice! No aerial bombardment this round.
The Grandfrogger stresses the need for teamwork as he clambers off the rocks and uses his powers to grant those in reach the power to more easily escape their foes, if need be.
Zithembe reverses course (with some consternation) and moves back towards the rest of the group.
With only one target close, the two honor guard step forward and bring their longspears to bear against Hepsubia; Blue manages to leave a painful puncture wound in her side but Green's strike barely misses. Riko too draws her longspear once more as she moves forward to engage the singing elf, driving the spear home and leaving Hepsubia in about as poor a shape as Holan-Ji!

No longer playing around, Maria takes aim at Blue with her bow and fires a powerful shot that sinks into the aasimar's back and leaves him staggered! At this point, a light breeze would surely finish him off.
Pained that he can't help Hepsubia on the ground Holan-Ji resolves to do what he can from the air as he slams into another of flying deserters and takes an enormous bite out of him! This only adds to the confusion and chaos in the skies, further disrupting the enemy's attempts at bombardment.
Between Effie & Holan-Ji that'll take care of the aerial bombardment for the next few rounds!
Not quite ready to die just yet, Hepsubia expertly tumbles away from her attackers, avoiding their attempts to finish her off!
With Hepsubia free and clear, the Grandfrogger conjures a hypnotic pattern in an attempt to neutralize some of your opponents. Blue seems unaffected, clearly more concerned about the arrow stuck in his back than the pretty colors. Riko also seems unaffected.
Green, however, goes slightly cross-eyed and slack-jawed as he watches the mesmerizing pattern.
With Green distracted, this gives Zithembe the perfect opportunity to step up and cut down Blue before the aasimar has a chance to do anything about his predicament. Effie decides to focus fire on Riko, hitting the lieutenant with two shots from her pistol - though they clearly do as much damage as expected, it doesn't look like she's going to go down without a fight! While Green continues to stand mesmerized, Riko takes a step back from Zithembe and seems to focus on some point behind him...and once again vanishes, only to appear behind Effie and The Grandfrogger!

"Alright then, you have a fancy teleport deal. Nice. Does that give you confidence in your ability to win this fight now that you are down to only one ally way over there..."

Effie follows The Grandfrogger's advice and skirts around behind the aged grippli.
"Let's try a different tune, and give the lieutenant the slip!"
Effie moves to a safer position with Escape Route, then casts Grease upon Riko's spear. DC15 Reflex avoids.

As the Grandfrogger maintains his magic Holan-Ji decides to take a calculated risk and swoops back down, breaking the enchantment but also deftly avoiding any potential strikes as he closes on Green and bites into his neck! Blood spurts everywhere as the dragonfly rips into the aasimar, dropping him.
With the two honor guard taken care of, only Riko remains. Zithembe once again reverses course and moves after the wily lieutenant, closing in on her. As he does, she attempts to strike him but the shabti dodges the blow before slicing into her with his own weapon! Spirit Surge wasn't needed.
Maria casually takes a step to the side and fires another arrow point-blank into Riko, further wounding her. To the elf's pointed remark, she simply shakes her head. <"My fate is set - either I die here or I am executed as a traitor and deserter. There is no other way!">
Hoping to take advantage of the distraction Hepsubia draws out a healing potion and attempts to drink it, only for Riko to take advantage of the opening to drive her longspear into the elf's stomach! Hepsubia crumples to the ground, bleeding profusely. <"Never assume the battle is won until you are the last standing,"> the traitor remarks with grim satisfaction. 13 damage to Hepsubia, putting her at Neg 10 and bleeding out; Weapon Song ends. With a Con 12 you'll need to act fast to keep her from dying!
Horrified, Effie takes advantage of the Grandfrogger's blessing to skirt around the melee before attempting to grease up Riko's longspear with her magic - but Riko manages to avoid the spell. She steps back from Zithembe and attempts to bring the might of her weapon to bear against him, opening a wound with her second strike! 11 damage to Zithembe.

Maria frowns, "While I would normally be a bit more supportive of an opponent and try to talk you out of your fatalistic world view, saying something like 'but maybe you could win' or 'don't be so hard on yourself'..." the vitriol in her tone oozes out, "...but in this case since you just murdered my friend and are showing no remorse to anything, I'm going to put you down so no one else gets hurt."
The elf aims and fires another arrow, hoping to finish the job.

Maria and Effie decide to forgo mercy in this particular case and open fire on Riko; Maria's arrow sinks into her shoulder and then Effie finally manages to drop her with two quick, successive shots from her pistol! Upon seeing their leader fall, the remaining deserters finally lower their weapons and surrender.

Though Hepsubia slowly continues to bleed out, the Grandfrogger is quick to hop to her side and administer a small bit of healing magic. It's not enough to bring the elf back to the waking world but it's enough to stabilize her condition.
