"Yeah Amira, this situation seems all wrong to me too. How can the professor raise from the dead? Somebody is definitely up to something awful. Anyway, let's go with the father back to the Restlands. I hope you are safe Kendra. I'm sorry we haven't been of more help yet. We'll get to the bottom of this." She walks over to hug the other woman before quickly hurrying after the others.

"Another undead, this time a skeleton!" She'll also reveal any results form the knowledge to the others. "Desna help me, let the same touch that I use to heal send this unholy creature back to it's grave." She chants as she walks up the skeleton and grabs one of it's bony limbs, sending cascades of holy energy running up along it.

Narrator

Will Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

The skeleton crumbles to dust from the holy energy infusing it. And Tamara tells anyone that piercing and slashing weapons are not as effective against these skeletons than bludgeoning ones. Just in case the group meets another skeleton.

"Your hammer would be quite an effective weapon against a skeleton as well Herm. Slashing weapons just glance of their bones while spears and arrows just go through them. Smashing them still works just fine though. Of course the are also harmed by positive energy as you just saw. I feel that I don't have much divine energy to draw on for the day. Maybe I should let you handle any other skeletons we meed. I couldn't hold myself back from taking it out when I had the chance though." Tamara comments after the skeleton has crumbled at her feet. She's a bit shocked herself at how effective the attack was.

She looks around at the others. "I guess we should continue to the Restlands. Though I'm also worried about the rest of the inhabitants of the town. I would feel bad if someone gets taken by these undead while we head there." She's unsure about what direction to take.

Are with Father Grimburrow now?


Narrator

Father Grimburrow is already way ahead of the group. While they stand there pondering the options they hear a shrill shriek from the opposite side of the market where two more skeletons claw at the door and a window of the apothecary.

Harrold runs over, and while infront of the group pulls out a vial and throws it at one of the skeletons

Narrator

It seems besides the methods suggested by Tamara fire works also great against skeletons as the one hit crumbles to ashes. The other skeleton was far enough away to not be affected.

But there is one major drawback by using fire instead of positive energy. It affects buildings. In this case by leaving a large scorch mark at the apothecary door.

Amira pulls out a morning star or all thing's This should work nicely With two hands she charges at the other Skeleton trying to wack it over the head.

Herm looks around at the remains of the skeletons, smiling at his companions. He looks around the rest of market place, using his Detect undead vision to root out any who may still be coming.

With that he turns to run after the priests.

Amira reduces the second skeleton to bone shards.


Narrator

On the marketplace seem no further skeleton to be.

The deputy comes out of his office looking astonished at the remains of the skeletons remains now lying in front of his door.

Is someone joining Herm in his jog to the Restlands?

Narrator

As Herm and all who follow arrive a the Restlands they find them quiet as ever. Once they come into sight of the grave of Professor Lorrimor they see the reason for that. While the acolytes are digging the grave again, Father Grimburrow walks around and channels holy energy lighting up an area where a skeleton sticks an arm out. The arm immediately turns to dust.

"What are you doing here?" Father Grimburrow asks as he sees them approaching. "Is the village safe? No undead left there?"

"We came to secure the graveyard with you since this will the area with the most undead. I am sworn to oppose the undead and this place is likely to have many."

"We did clear the town square or undead."

"It seems the dead are walking among the living. We've stopped three skeletons and a zombie so far, but I'm not sure if there are more. Gather your men to defend the town. We'll go with Father Grimburrow to the Restlands and stop them at their source." Tamara says to the sheriff before she rushes after the others.

Tamara comes after the other, her armor weighing her down. "I told the sheriff about what happened. Hopefully he'll be able to handle things until we return. As Herm said, we found three more skeletons that we eliminated."


Male Human Cleric of Pharasma (7)

"Hrmpf. And what am I? A scarecrow?" Father Grimburrow gives back to Herm. "What do you think I'm doing here. Once the hole is dug and Lorrimor is under the earth again I'm going to consecrate this hole place again. And until then I send all the dead that wont stay in their graves back immediately. Just in case you forgot: I'm a priest of Pharasma."

"What I can't do though is being here AND in town. But do as you please." With that he turns back to his preparations for the consecration ritual and places a vial of holy water and a bag with silver dust on all the places where undead emerged which is mostly in close proximity of the grave of the Professor.

Once he is satisfied with the distribution of the places he stands besides one after another and casts the consecrate spell. Only with the grave of the Professor himself he waits as the acolytes are still busy digging.

With that Harrold jogs back to town to look for more undead


Narrator

Looking around on the way here reveals that some undead may have walked the path out of the Restlands if one knows the signs - lost crumbs of earth. But it's far from all of the Reslands rising up from the dead. On closer inspection you find that besides the Professor's grave there are four more that are disturbed by someone crawling out from inside.

Herm will look around the grave yard, looking for any undead that are up or trying to get up. Once he notices that there are 4 open graves he quickly realizes that they only killed 3 in the town square.

"We missed one, I am going to go back to town and see if I can locate it. The father has things in hand here, we might as well secure the town and check in on Kendra before returning here."

With that he will wait for the others to come with him and walk back to town.

Are you going to do something systematic or are you simply running around town? And what kind of light are you using?

I am just running to catch up with Harrold, No light I figured it was bright enough unless the light from Tamara is still on my gauntlet.


Narrator

The light on the gauntlet lasts 10min so it's probably out. And the sun went down when before you left the Harrowstone. So you better search your backpack for torches or sunrods. Let's say it's a clear night and you're not in danger of falling over your own feet. But a search in these conditions would be by ear only. Also there are two sides of the town. West and east of the river. Someone (probably Harrold as he is up front) has to tell which side.

Herm fumbles around in his pack for a minute before pulling out a sunrod, he gently cracks it to mix the 2 chemicals and continues after Harrold.


Narrator

With the wide radius of bright light it becomes easier to see where the tracks of the undead lead. These crumbs of dirt the undead lost lead to the left where the marketplace is.

Survival DC 15:
Most of the tracks lead to the left. But one continues straight on in direction of the temple.

"Yeah, we should locate the last skeleton first. Sorry for rushing here. We'll come back once we are done. We should spread out to search more effectively." Tamara will provide light for Herm or Harrold as they move back. Probably for Harrold, seeing as Herm already took out his sunrod. She doesn't need light herself due to her sharp elven eyes.

I seem to remember low light vision treating moonlight as daylight, but I can't find the exact reference now.

Tamara notices the tracks and calls out to the others. "The tracks are leading here. We don't need to split up after all."

Herm turns around, nodding at Tamara, he now begins to follow her. Sunrod held high over his head hammer in his left hand.

"We probably dealt with the majority that went there. So we should follow the lone track to the temple." She says and does so.

Harrold ran into town, back the way they came. So he is listening for anything

"The temple? I find it funny that the Father and his acolytes left the time but didn't sense the skeleton there at all. None the less we shall clear it. Once there we gather Harrold and return to talk Father Grimburrow."

Harrold will increase his pace towards the Temple.


Narrator

On the marketplace - where Harold ran to - it is quite busy now. A lot of people noticed the ruckus and are now standing there discussing what all that means and telling ever scarier versions of what happened. It's the deputy and Jominda as well as the sheriff, Zolkar and some more neighbors.

Along the route to the temple Tamara notices that the track takes a turn to the left just before reaching the temple. There on the way along the large manor houses the track is lost.

"You lot! There might still be other undead about! We need to check the town!" Harrold shouts to the crowd before running further into town


Narrator

The situation was thrilling without Harold coming along but with his comment some of the bystanders panic and flee back in their houses. Only the sheriff and Jominda stay where they are. But they are also not helpful.

"You have to go inside. It is much too dangerous outside." Sheriff Caeller tells Jominda.

"No, we have to search for remaining undead!" Jominda replies.


Narrator

Harold runs further into the next street which happens to be a dead end where he stands in front of the laughing demon. But no undead are hiding here as far as Harrold can tell.

But from the other side of the river a shrill shriek tears through the silence of the night only to be followed by a silence that shouts even louder.

For the rest of the group this comes from s shed a couple of feet further on the way to the right.

Somewhere along the way Tamara have relit Herm's glove "Desna will light up your glove so you can see, in case you need to use both hands."

When they hear the shriek Tamara reacts quickly. "The shed!" She shouts and rushes forward alongside Herm.

Narrator

As Tamara holds open the door of the shed for Herm to enter first a terrible sight greets them. Some half rotten corpse rips the entrails out of a pig that was clubbed to death.

Narrator

Herm waits at the door. The zombie attracted by the living turns around and shambles towards Herm where it runs into a sharp axe. There it stands with a gaping wound.

Amira makes another cut in the zombie bringing it down.

Herm will drag the body of the zombie away from the shed, taking it and finding something to wrap it in he will drag it back towards the Restlands.

"Everyone ready to go back?"

"You guys take them out so fast. No need for me to even use my magic. That's good, because I'm almost out of it. Now let's get back to father Grimburrow. Hopefully we'll manage to stave of any further incidents. I'm so glad the shriek we heard was only from a pig and not from a human..." Tamara is relieve and happy to return to the father.


Narrator

The group leaves with Herm dragging the corpse with him. They are already out of sight as Councilman Hearthmount and two of his staff come out to find the mutilated pig in it's pen.

After a short time they arrive in The Restlands again. The acolytes are done with burying the Professor again and sigh on sight of the next body.

Harrold can decide if he meets with the Councilman or rather joins the group back to the Restlands.
