Kendra Lorrimor __
As she slowly calms down her eyes fixed on the book she explains. "The Splattermann was a murderer too. He spelled out the name of his next victim in blood in public places. Sometimes over weeks. Before he finally murdered them."
Brother Grergof Varsk
Brother Vasrk closes his book and puts down his pen.
He looks intently at the book and says to no one in particular:
Yes, Need to keep her protected... Letters in blood, why does that...
He sits up straighter and suddenly lifts his eyes to meet Kendra's and Spugoir's
There was a large V written in blood on the monument this morning. Is this the first disturbance you have had of this type? Is it possible that the spirit of the murder has taken control of someone and is leaving messages for people again?
Brother Grergof Varsk
Hmmm, Councilman Hearthmount is hosting a town hall tonight for citizens to discuss the events that are going on in town. At least you Miss Lorrimor should attend and keep an eye on him. I will be more then happy to accompany you to keep you safe and be of aid if needed.
Brother Grergof Varsk
The Meeting is for citizens, I worry our presence may cause resentment or draw the blame of the events discussed in the meeting to the newcomers.
Darius Redgrave
Gonna move my end along if that's okay.
After a little more small talk Darius wishes Father Grimburrow farewell and heads back to the Lorrimor home to meet up with the rest of the gathered party.
Kendra Lorrimor __
"It's a public meeting. No one checks at the entrance. You will probably be eyed with suspicion by one or the other. But Father Grimburrow knows you and the Sheriff knows you too. Just don't shout at the councilmen and you should be fine."
"And as for being blamed. It's much less probable to happen when you're there." Kendra replies.
Brother Grergof Varsk
True... Then it sounds like we both agree we should go with you to the town hall.
GM Foxy
The group has a nice afternoon at Kendra's house with tea and cookies. As the evening comes they leave to the town hall. A lot of people are there already and more are coming by the minute.
Kendra, Darius, Grergof, Hailiss and Spugnoir take a seat in the last row. The hall fills until no places are left and the people are staying outside. Here and there the people tell the stories of the undead that attacked town. Some are familiar, like the dead pig. Some are new to the group. And some seem to be vastly exaggerated. But it is clear that the citizens are afraid.
As the council enters the hall the conversations die down. Councilman Vashian Hearthmount enters the stage and addresses the crowd. "Citizens of Ravengro. As we all know dire events befell our town these days. The dead left the cemetery and walked the streets at night. And some vandals smeared the memorial. It hit us unprepared bet we were glad that no one was hurt. Only a pig in my pen was killed. I talked to Father Grimburrow who is also here and he and his acolytes will keep watch at the cemetery. And the Sheriff will do patrols at night through town. All this to ensure we are not surprised by such a thing again. And to catch anyone who thinks it funny to smear a memorial."
"And now there is the opportunity for you to ask questions or inform us of other things you encountered that could have to do with these dire events."
GM Foxy
The town hall is just one large room with three windows on each side. There are chairs for forty people and some more room to stand. At the front is a small stage. The room is about 15 foot high. Besides the windows hang long heavy curtains.
Now in the evening the room is lit by four oil lamps that are mounted between the windows at the wall. The main entrance is a large double door that is opposite to the stage.
On Councilman Hearthmount's request a sheep farmer complains about a lost sheep. And one or the other has seen spooky things. And everything unknown now looks as an undead. One story hunts the next and it becomes louder and the people get more and more alarmed.
Councilman Hearthmount interrupts this. "Now please calm down again. Sheep have always gone astray. And not every shadow at night is a walking dead. Please stay reasonable. To panic doesn't help at all in this situation."
Just as the councilman has the crowds attention again two of the oil lamps - one on each side - explode and set the walls on fire. That is the end of calm. The townsfolk openly panic and run for the exit falling over each other and the chairs creating a huge chaos.
Brother Grergof Varsk
Looking around at the fire Grergof's eyes widen.
Damn, no time for niceties.
Miss Lorrimor we are going to need a bucket line. Try to arrange it. Mr. Redgrave, help her. I'm going to make sure the councilman and people near the front are OK.
With that he forces his way near the fire to make sure nobody is hurt or on fire.
Darius Redgrave
Darius rushes up to Kendra "We'll have to push through the crowd and get the line going from outside." he says and if Kendra agrees he'll make his way with her and try exit the building and look for the fire buckets. "Theres only one exit. This is gonna be difficult. Some of you try get the fire under control! Use the curtains to smother the spreading flames!"
GM Foxy
While the group tries to bring some order into all of that the middle windows left and right shatter to pieces as two shrieking burning skulls fly through them and scare the townspeople to death.
They are hovering above the crowd ready to strike.
Initiative Skull: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (18) + 0 = 18
Initiative Skull: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (3) + 0 = 3
Initiative Darius: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Initiative Grergof: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Initiative Spugnoir: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Initiative Hailiss: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Brother Grergof Varsk
Hearing the window crash Grergof redirects his action heading to intercept the creature.
As he sets himself between the skull and the people he draws out his flail.
You are not getting to them you abomination!
Heavy Flail: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Goal is if I miss, I want to force it to draw an AoO if it wants to attack anyone but me.
Brother Grergof Varsk
Ahh ok, I figured there would be a clear area at the front of the hall where the fire was. I would not have pulled the flail out in a croud. A would have done a lay on hands. Either way it looks like it would have been a miss.
Darius Redgrave
"Dammit all, get the other curtains!" Darius says to ayone who hears, and uses the flask of holy water on the other skull. Pulling it from a pouch at his side he takes careful aim and throws it at the flaming skull. "Iomedae guide my hand to strike true." He says at it sails through the air.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
GM Foxy
Darius hits the head... of Grergof. As he is no undead nothing bad happens to him. Besides him getting wet. The splash of that hit the flaming skull too but doesn't do much damage.
Father Grimburrow and Jominda manage to put the fire on their side of the hall out, but the other spreads to the floor. The other people press slowly but steadily trough the exit. The council stands stunned at the stage. Not fleeing but also shocked and not able to help.
The flaming skull tries to slam into Grergof.
Slam: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (18) + 0 = 18
Damage+Fire: 1d2 - 1 + 1d6 - 2 ⇒ (1) - 1 + (5) - 2 = 3
The skull hits Grergof but the effect of the fire is lessened by him being wet.
Brother Grergof Varsk
Assuming that Grergof is now in a clear area - Greggof swings his heavy flail at the skull.
Heavy Flail - Power Attack + Furious Focus: 1d20 + 5 - 1 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 5 - 1 + 1 = 7
damage + Power Attack: 1d10 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 3 = 9
If there are still people close (because the councilmen are still on the stage or still in the press of people trying to get out.)
Lay on Hands (touch): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Either way I doubt I'm going to kill it.
Jominda Fallenbridge __
Jominda drops the curtain moves over to Grergof grabbing a chair on the way and beats the flaming skull with it.
Chair: 1d20 - 4 ⇒ (18) - 4 = 14
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Almost hitting Grergof she sends the skull to the ground where it breaks to pieces and is destroyed. "I'm sorry. I hope I didn't hurt you."
"Would you please help putting that fire out?" She turns around to get the wet curtain again.
Fight over. Only firefighting left.
Darius Redgrave
Darius runs to Jominda and helps her with the wet curtains to put out the fire. "May I?" He says to Jominda as he takes hold of the curtains to help.
Brother Grergof Varsk
As the room falls silent Grergof steps up and says.
Sirs, I know we are outsiders, but your people are clearly in danger. As such my companions and I are ready to assist this village in any way we can.
Darius Redgrave
During this exchange Darius is strangely quiet. Carefully watching the sheriff throughout.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Then suddenly as if snapping out of a haze he turns to Jominda and the tension falls from his shoulders and a smile spreads across his face.
"Jominda, are you alright? You did some great work in there. Both on the flaming skull and the firefight."
Jominda Fallenbridge __
Jominda wipes her sweaty forehead. "Thank you. But I guess I was just lucky with that hit." Checking herself she adds "I seem to be alright."
"And thank you for being here and not running away." she says with a smile and frowning towards the Sheriff and the Council she adds "Or standing around uselessly. You and your friends keeping a cool head really saved the day. I'm glad our town hall didn't burn down."
